Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipEarlier today, Bashir's Go Vote tour was in eastern Kentucky, and this is video of his stop in Preston's burg and Floyd County, where Bashir was joined by Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman.
Pamela Stephenson, the Democratic candidate for attorney general, and Sierra Enloe, who was running for AG Commissioner Beshear, touted his economic record, his role in leading the state through disasters and his ability to rise above partizan politics.
He told the crowd reelecting him as governor would send a message that Kentucky is ready to put an end to what he called, quote, anger politics.
You win.
Well, I run as a proud Democrat.
The moment I win, I take that hat off and I serve every single Kentucky family, every single one.
So whether you are a Democrat or Republican or an independent, there is a place for you in this campaign and a place for you in this administration, because our job isn't to move a state to the right or the left, but to move it forward for every single family.
So this message of unity and marching forward together have lifted everybody up.
That's not what you're hearing from the other side, is it?
Those aren't the commercials they're putting on, are they now?
Now what you're hearing is fear and anger and even encouraging one Kentuckian to violate that golden rule and to hate another.
This race is about us.
It is about Kentucky.
But if we can send one message to the rest of the country, it's that anger.
Politics ought to end right here, right now.
