An abortion clinic whose Beverly Hills opening was blocked is now suing the city and the landlord.

They formed the group last fall after finding out that Washington, DC abortion provider, DuPont Clinic, lost its lease to open in the city.
When the clinic announced its arrival in 2022, anti-abortion protesters began showing up at City Hall and at the medical office building on Wilshire Boulevard, where the clinic had planned to perform abortions into the third trimester.
I'm here in opposition of the DuPont Clinic situation.
It's not on the agenda.
This is murder.
Beverly Hills for Choice members said they are furious that the city failed to stand up to anti-abortion activists and defend the clinic's right to operate.
It's one of at least three abortion clinics that has been unable to open in California in the past two years because of local opposition.
This has been a blow to efforts by Democratic leaders, such as Governor Gavin Newsom, to make California a haven for abortion rights after the end of Roe v. Wade.
There even is another, or was another all-trimester abortion clinic in Beverly Hills that had no, absolutely no episodes of disturbance from extremists whatsoever over the years.
DuPont Clinic is suing the city, and Douglas Emmett, Inc., the landlord that rescinded its lease, alleging they colluded and conspired with the protesters to try to drive DuPont out of the city.
The landlord declined to comment, citing litigation.
A city spokesperson affirmed that Beverly Hills strongly supports a person's right to choose.
Beverly Hills for Choice has petitioned the city to show their support for abortion rights by passing a local law banning cooperation with out-of-state entities looking into abortions performed in California.
Those demands have so far been ignored.
