Next, on Inland Sessions.
Welcome, friends.
Thank you for joining us live here at Inland Sessions, and we are Bijaa.
My name is Susan Hall.
And behind me is Dario Re on guitar and Todd Milne on flute.
We're really excited to be here and we hope you enjoy our sound.

Susan: we play perform, sacred music in the form of chants.
Primarily in kirtan when kirtan is a call and response, form of music where the audience participates.
The analogy might be in nature when you hear animals communicating to each other, it's a call and response and there's a certain frequency or energetic quality around that in terms of connection and community.
It's similar to that.
So we work to build the resonant frequency in the group with not only the sound current of the music, but our voice as well.
Our next tune is a celebratory, devotional chant to the deity Ganesha, "Gaja Nana".
Enjoy.

Gaja Nana, Hey Gaja Nana Ga-au-ri Manoo Hara Priya Nandana Gaja Nana, Hey Gaja Nana Ga-au-ri Manoo Hara Priya Nandana Susan: The traditional chants or bhajans come just from the tradition of East Indian music.
The yoga tradition, mantras have been developed for centuries by master teachers, meditators.
Those were the, those are the primary traditional mantras that any musician can use develop for their own performance.
And we just, in the last year beginning to create and write our own songs for performing and recording, Dario: So I joined Bijaa primarily as a musician and not really knowing some of the devotional elements to it and really fell in love with that practice as I did more and more of it, but at my heart, like songwriting is really something I live for.
And so having these two amazing musicians to collaborate with, it felt like that would never be satisfying if we didn't put our minds together and start writing.
And that's what I live for.
So that creation of a new object or a new song or a new sound is what keeps me coming back to music and art.
So I was really enjoying that the traditional kirtan chants in that call and response and energy, it creates in a room is like, you can't even describe it.
But then behind the scenes, it's super important to me that, uh, we create original content.
And once we started the attempt, that became really clear that we had a good chemistry together.
Our next tune is an original, uh, a collaborative effort by Bijaa, and uh inspired by the mystery of beauty.
