Billie Jean King joins the program.
The International Tennis Federation will rename its annual team competition, formerly the Fed Cup, to the Billie Jean King Cup. The move honors King's prowess as a player as well as her lifelong campaign for equality and inclusion. This will be the first major competition to be named for a woman.
