When there's no feeders around, you can drive for hours and see nothing.
Yeah.
(laughs) My name is Alexis Powell.
Couldn't resist coming up here to this Haxenberg.
The first time I ever came here was in 2004.
And I came up that year because that was a great gray owl invasion year.
Yeah this trip is a more casual just see the regular cast of characters which aren't very many, right.
I mean, if you're really being casual, you could easily come up here for a day and only see a dozen species, but some of them are hard to find anywhere else in the lower 48.
The pine grosbeaks.
Yeah.
Yeah that's a real treat.
Birds come further south here on a more reliable basis than they do east and west of this point.
So that's the draw.
She has to see all this unusual, our northern boreal species.
