New Jersey's coastline was permanently changed by Superstorm Sandy. And while a lot of work has been done to elevate homes in potential flood zones and to harden the shore, the threat of extreme weather persists, driven by climate change. According to a Rutgers University study, the sea level at the Jersey Shore is rising at more than double the global average rate.
