When we think of forensic science, we often think of DNA evidence and precise techniques. Previously, forensic science also contained lots of observations based on scientists’ expertise but not independently verifiable data. We’ve made a lot of progress, but we still have a long way to go to make the science as precise as possible to get the correct person in court.
