When Brittanie had her first child, she wondered how she could be a mother when she didn’t grow up with a mother herself. Her fear of her child falling into the foster system was crippling. Although foster youth encounter limited access to support when they become parents, research shows that parenting programs contribute to former foster youth finishing high school and earning higher salaries.
