Circleville, Ohio, is home to a banjo player who marches to a different strum. Tony Ellis grew up in North Carolina and played straight-ahead bluegrass with the legendary Bill Monroe. But Ellis grew tired of life on the road. His break with bluegrass allowed him to create a different kind of banjo music that focuses on melody.
