A Tradition of Progress (on view at the Decorative Arts Center in Lancaster through May 17, 2015) shares the story of Ohio through what is perhaps the most transformative time period in American history. From the Civil War up through World War II, the country grew increasingly more urban and industrialized. Innovations and new manufacturing techniques allowed for the mass production of furniture.
