Brood X cicadas emerge around NJ after 17 years under ground

Clip: 05/31/2021 | 3m 44s | Video has closed captioning.

After 17 years underground, thousands of Brood X cicadas are emerging. The loud, large, winged insects are considered beautiful by some but a nuisance by plenty of others. They're crawling out of the ground for a busy four to six weeks of flying, mating and eventually dying, not to be seen for another 17 years.
