It saves lives as we welcome you to Tom Robinson Memorial Stadium in Suwanee.
For a big region seven, 78 showdown.
As the 6-1 Brookwood Broncos have come to town to take on the fourth ranked and 6-0 North Gwinnett Bulldogs.
And good evening, I'm Matt Stewart, joined by former Auburn Tigers All-American NFL first round draft pick and 15 year pro Wayne Gandy.
Wayne here tonight we have two of the top six highest scoring offenses in 78.
So that should be fun.
We have a North Gwinnett team with state championship aspirations.
They've gone 30-3 the last two plus seasons, and a Brookwood team that needs to win tonight to stay in.
Championship hunt.
They have gone 132 since they played North Gwinnett last year.
Sounds like we have a popcorn game here tonight.
Get your popcorn ready.
Two high powered offenses, two teams where the coaches feel like they have the talent to get down to the beans.
And two great leaders, and Jake Gottfried on the other side, Gary Chapman.
All right.
Let's start with North Gwinnett.
Some a month ago here on GPB, when they beat Mill Creek 45-13 They played that game without their highest rated prospect, tight end Max Patterson, a four star who's committed to Pitt.
But he's back and ready to go tonight.
And he's going to be full goal here tonight 66 with hands and length.
He can stretch the field.
And he's a great blocker.
Don't look at the numbers.
They will confuse you.
You have to look at this young man.
They're going to get him the ball early.
On the defensive side of the ball you got number one Jake Godfree the three star committed to NC state one of the best middle linebackers in the state the last four years.
His first tackle tonight will be career tackle number 400.
The quarterback of the defense, the leader of the team, a guy that's always moving towards the football.
And the thing you love about him, he plays on both sides of the ball.
So watch this man for everything.
But he sets the tempo for this team and he inspires others to play just as hard as he does.
Now the story with Brookwood, they're looking to rebound from their first loss of the season last week, when they fell to their rivals Parkview, 34 24.
But they have one of the best quarterback running back tandems in the state, Gary Chapman, who's committed to your alma mater, the Auburn Tigers, and Braden Tycen, the running back who's committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
A true dynamic duo.
When you look at these two, when you look at Chapman, a dual threat that can make any play at any time.
He's fast, he's physical and he's poised.
And when you look at Tycen, the size alone is just intimidating.
He's big, he's fast.
And the thing you love about him, he's unselfish.
His coach, Chad Nibert, compares Braden to Derrick Henry.
So you kind of get the picture on the defensive side of the ball for the Broncos.
There's Chris Scott, the middle linebacker.
He's been offered by Georgia State.
And Marshall leads them in tackles leads them in TfL, leads them in interceptions.
A smart, physical linebacker that can play downhill to tackle.
But also it's just great in space, has great hands.
He's their vocal leader.
They're going to need that here tonight for victory.
Absolutely.
It's the Broncos and the Bulldogs.
This one's going to be a lot of fun.
Let's send it down to Jon Nelson on the sidelines.
Thank you very much Matt.
Good evening Wayne.
Good evening to you.
Good evening to all of you accessing us.
However you are doing so large device or small.
Matt, you mentioned Chad Nibert coming into last week 6-0 top seven ranking, both gone in a rivalry game.
And that loss to Parkview in the Battle of Five Forks.
Trickum.
So the question really coming into this one, how does a young in the sense of years as a head coach, Knott years as a coach, how does a team respond?
How does Chad Nibert respond?
How does Brookwood respond?
So far this week, he's been very even keeled about it, and he credits his staff.
Frankly, he's got a lot of experienced staff who've been through these before as assistant coaches.
He's been through them before as an assistant coach in middle Georgia and in South Georgia.
So very, very matter of fact, he knows that there's going to be a lot of eye candy thrown at his team, especially defensively by that North Gwinnett offense.
Biggest thing stay locked in, stay focused and you'll be able to take care of business.
Kind of sounds like the coaching staff as well.
That's the early story from down here.
Matt.
I think you're going to have to find a candle that's waterproof.
Starting to pick up both wind and wet.
Let's send it up to you here at Tom.
Rob here for this matchup tonight.
Indeed.
It's a cool 68 degrees.
And there is rain in the vicinity.
Although I don't know that it's raining very hard if at all here yet.
But it is all around us.
And as you watch the game tonight, go to the QR code on your screen.
Download the GPB sports app and keep up with scores from all around the state.
So Wayne Brookwood wins the opening toss.
They deferred until the second half.
That means we're going to see North Gwinnett on offense.
They're averaging 44 points per game this season, which is number five in seven a football.
Very interesting that a high powered offense like Brookwood wouldn't take the ball, but they decided to put the pressure on North Gwinnett.
They come in with that two quarterback system with Rahman and Holcomb in the backfield.
They switch in and out, both of them very capable, running more, maybe physically can run, but Halcomb we've seen him in the last time we were out.
Have a great game and they're going to try to run the ball and kind of shorten this game and keep Mr.
Gary Chapman on the sideline.
And you saw the North Gwinnett Bulldogs enter the field with brisket leading the way tonight.
Something they haven't done in a while because they haven't had a home game.
As Coach Godfree said.
And brisket.
So adorable.
I don't know about him being.
A a true vicious animal.
Yeah, this is just their second home game of the season here on October 9.
This is just their second home game and their first since they beat Walton here on September fourth.
Of course, they gave up a home game to play in the Mercedes-Benz and Corky Kell Classic.
The start of the season when they defeated Grayson and the opening kickoff is brought to you by heads Up Georgia.
Parking your phone while driving saves lives.
So the Broncos have it teed up and ready to go.
Brady Palmer, who's very good, will kick things off.
He is 20 of 34 on his kickoffs going into the end zone for touchbacks this season.
Wilson Taylor.
And.
Brown are back deep to take this kick, and it's all turned up to the 40 yard line.
Big return by Wilson Taylor up to the 45 yard line and great field position for the Bulldogs to start this game.
Great return there by this young man.
Wilson Taylor 57, 162 senior.
Great field position to start.
And you got to capitalize if you're Brookwood in these situations when you start midfield as we get to see Elam Rahman starting this game.
So they do have a two quarterback system here that they are very dedicated to.
And Rahman, though, takes most of the snaps.
He's the senior and the opening play never gets off before a flag comes out.
A little antsy up front there.
Akil Mussington.
Encroachment on the defense five yard penalty remains first down.
Big D tackled a nose tackle inside.
Always so surprising when the nose tackle jumps offside because he's actually over the ball in that situation.
Broncos giving up 16.1 points per game.
That's number nine in seven.
A football.
So first and five.
Now you see the big tight end.
Number seven Max Patterson crouch down to the right side of the offensive line.
And the first handoff goes to Stephen Brown.
And Brown's got the first down as he stumbles forward to the 45 yard line.
Nice blocking in the middle right there.
Leo Garcia Garcia excuse me.
Jake Torres there at left guard.
This offensive line a good unit.
They play together.
A lot of seniors up front.
See Stephen Brown.
He has rushed for over 1,000 yards in his career.
He's had 3100 plus yard games.
Going to get the rock again.
Go to the left side, goes off tackle.
And a big gain for Brown down to the 37 yard line.
Conaway making the tackle for Brookwood.
Let's take a look at the impact players Wayne brought to you by Breda Pest Management.
Stephen Brown their leading rusher just hard to tackle.
Has great vision.
Evan Hawkins so explosive of a dynamic big play receiver.
One of the great names in football, period.
Unitas.
Baltimore the three star headed to Arkansas and Julian Elzy.
He can just do everything you need in a football player at that star position.
Evan Hawkins got blown up on the play.
Great defensive, pursued by the Broncos.
Seeing that screen pass and smell it out.
Julian Elzy, the Georgia Tech commit, levels him for a big TfL.
We just talked about Elzy and his ability at 6:02, 200, the senior, maybe the best defensive player on the field, so much range, so much size by that young man.
Elzy.
Consensus three star committed to Georgia Tech after originally committing to Kansas State.
Plus, there were 34 other offers who are very sought after 62, 200 pound senior safety.
This is what this Broncos team loves to do.
Fourth, third and long bring a lot of packages, different blitz, blitz, blitz packages.
That ball is out there loose and that is a live ball scooped up by Brookwood.
And they've got it at the 24 yard line.
Looked like they ran a similar play just to the other side of the field.
It ends up being recovered by the Broncos.
Just a little swing pass outside.
But you can see the ball is behind Brown in that situation, working hard to the ball.
There is Zyon Preston.
Good job of him scooping that ball up right there by the defensive end.
Zyon Preston the 63, 245 senior defensive end with an offer from UMass gets that ball.
And Brookwood has it now.
First and ten at the North Gwinnett 24.
This hasn't happened very often to the Bulldogs this season.
And there's Braden Tycen the big running back.
They compare to Derrick Henry smashes down to the eight yard line.
They're going to rule him down by contact with the ground.
It is not a fumble.
Big time run.
Great blocking there on that right side.
Great pull there as well.
Unitas Baltimore.
But the size the strength the speed.
All right there on display by Braden Tycen.
If he gets his per game average tonight he'll hit 5,000 career rushing yards ball in the air and broken up.
Great play by McKinnon to step in front of that pass.
Intended for Tycen.
Leaking from the backfield.
Here is Tycen.
Good protection right here.
Step into the throw just a little late with that pass.
There is Gary Chapman.
Missed a touchdown right there.
But McKinnon did a great job to get in front of that pass.
And now it's going to be second down and goal from the nine yard line.
Goal to go for the Broncos here as they try to score first.
They're averaging 42.4 points per game.
That's number six in seven a Tycen got a lane to the end zone.
Gonna score the touchdown easily untouched.
Brookwood has the early lead.
RPO game on display here with Gary Chapman hanging on handing the ball off there to Tycen.
Just a walk in here for the big fella.
Good blocking on the outside.
Nice job by the tight end.
That left side of the offensive line of Smith Mussington.
Just an easy no easier touchdown.
You're going to see from Braden Tycen.
Nine yard touchdown run for Tycen.
And Palmas.
On for the B A and Brookwood has the lead.
I don't think that North Gwinnett has trailed in a game the entire season until now, and Palma, with the p-a-t puts it up and through and the Broncos have jumped out to a 7-0 lead, so the Broncos cash in after the fumble by North Gwinnett and get the first touchdown of the day.

Welcome back to Tom.
Rob.
It is 7-0 for the visitors here to help us out with our donation of our friends from Cigna, our friends from North Gwinnett, Dr.
Matt Champion, athletic director.
Thanks for being a great partner to Football Fridays all week long and to Football Fridays all year long around the state.
Yeah.
We really appreciate what you guys do for high school sports, and thanks for coming out to Suwanee.
Man of very few words.
He's got a lot going on tonight and he's got a lot of work to do.
So does North Gwinnett down 7-0 Let's send it back upstairs.
$1,500 to our friends at North Gwinnett for our friends from Cigna.
Matt.
All right.
Thank you.
Nellie.
7-0 lead for Brookwood as they cash in on the early fumble by the Bulldogs and score putting North Gwinnett behind for the first time tonight.
And the rain has arrived a little bit here.
It's just sprinkling right now.
How does this impact that game.
Well you have to break out your rushing game.
And I think both teams are fit for that kind of running back that Tycen is.
And on the other side with Brown.
And then that just breaks out.
Also the ability of Gary Chapman and his ability to run the ball.
But big time offense already on display here by Brookwood.
So Palma will kick off again with Taylor and Brown deep again for the Bulldogs.
Taylor had it close to 40 yard return the first time he touched the ball, and this time it will not be returnable as they'll have to bring it out to the 20 yard line.
And so that's where North Gwinnett will have to start their second possession.
As we take a look at the Johnny's pizza offense for the North Gwinnett Bulldogs, you see Rahman the quarterback, Brown, the running back Jackson Hawkins and Smith, the wide receivers Max Patterson the tight end.
You got Jones Torres Garcia, Temile and Dzahli-Sowu at that right tackle position.
So it's been a prolific offense this season for the Bulldogs.
And Rahman still in there at quarterback.
Handoff is going to go to Brown and Brown runs up to the 29 yard line as he gets 89 yards on the play.
Nice job right there of Brown.
Pressure in the backfield.
Automatically right off the snap and his ability.
And we talked about just a good runner a good high school football player.
Complete back as his coach says good job of him making something out of that.
For the season.
456 yards on 57 carries.
Going to get the Rock again and pick up a first down.
Good hard run as he's tackled by Orlando Brown.
But after he picks up the first down.
Nice job bouncing to the outside with the speed.
And that's where Orlando Brown making a play right there for his team.
So first and ten ball at the 40 yard line.
Rahman going to keep it and get stood up at the 42 yard line.
After a short gain.
Well actually that was Wilson Taylor on the direct snap to him.
Rahman did not end up carrying the ball.
It was Taylor who ends up carrying the ball.
As we take a look at the Johnny's New York style pizza defense for the Broncos up front, Preston Mussington Baltimore and Pfister.
The linebackers Patterson and Scott, the corners.
Conaway and Booth and the safeties Elzy, Brown and Ibrahim.
To the air, the Max Patterson Patterson first down catch at the 46 yard line.
Just nice throw and catch right here from Rahman.
And we talked about Max Patterson being back full speed tonight.
Nice job.
Big target.
We talked about Patterson at 66, 245.
Brown gets the ball back and Brown down to the 35 yard line.
As the Bulldogs.
That's Jojo Saunders actually on the carry as the Bulldogs are running the ball with authority right now.
Brown Taylor and now Sanders in there playing with a little pace on that last play.
But you can see the concerted effort by this offensive line and this offense of getting great plays positive plays, running the ball.
So three different running backs have already touched the ball here for the Bulldogs in this first quarter.
That's Hawkins in motion.
And Saunders gets the handoff again.
And this time he's going to get stopped by the.
Carry across the 35.
Linebacker Cruz Julius.
Elzy Julius both in the backfield coming off the edge with the pressure.
And that kind of run.
It hits.
If you can get up into that offensive line before those safeties and linebackers off the edge get to you.
So second down and eight.
Brown in the backfield lined up next to Rahman.
Rahman going to keep it and run it up the middle.
And Rahman is going to get about four or 5 yards.
So no problem running the ball for North Gwinnett in this ball game so far.
Staying patient, running the ball.
Nice job there by Rahman pulling that ball and keeping the defense honest.
Picking up a couple of yards.
But the big part of that is making sure that these ends and these safeties, these linebackers coming off the edge understand he may pull the ball and run.
It brings up third down and four.
The line to gain is the 26.
Handoff goes to Brown.
And Brown going to get stopped.
Will not get the first down yardage.
Chris Scott the linebacker who we talked about in the open comes up to plug the hole.
Nice job stepping up there.
Scott finishing off right there.
It's Elzy number two big body safety that plays up on the line of scrimmage.
Playing down in the box.
And right here you can imagine the keep pace with Brookwood.
North Gwinnett in these situations are going to go for it.
Yeah fourth down and two they keep the offense on the field.
They've attempted only one field goal the entire season.
So they're going for it here from the 28.
Let's see if the Brookwood defense can rise to the occasion now.
Jake Godfree lines up next.
He's going to take the direct snap.
And Godfree is going to pick up the first down at the 25 yard line.
So Jake Godfree his first offensive snap of the game.
And when we talked to Coach Nibert, he talked about when Godfree is in the game, you got to be aware because he's the guy they love to get him the ball.
When he is on offense.
Good job right there.
Shoulder square.
Getting that first down for his team.
Yeah, Nibert said.
When Godfree is in the game, you know something's about to happen.
And he took the direct snap right there.
Rahman back in the pocket, throwing complete to Patterson touchdown.
North Gwinnett.
And there's the big fella.
The big target rated as high as the number five tight end in the country.
Max Patterson with the touchdown catch.
Big number seven flexed out.
Nice pick up there by Wilson Taylor.
Picking up the blitz.
But the big body on the post route just hitting him right there.
Nice job leading him.
Perfect ball falling into the end zone.
76.
And here comes the pat attempt.
Wesley Rogers will take it for them.
Banks Halcomb who's the back up quarterback is the holder.
And Reid Stanley is the snapper.
Kick is up and on its way and the kick is good and tied at seven.
So North Gwinnett responds to falling behind for the first time this season by driving down the field.
Goes 80 yards for the score and big Max Patterson with the touchdown catch.

Opening 7 minutes here in Suwanee in this huge region.
Seven, 70 showdown at North Gwinnett and Brookwood are tied 77 after the touchdown reception by Max Patterson.
He missed two games.
Wayne with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder.
Yeah.
We knew he was going to make an impact and he's already done that early.
Great drive there.
Great answer by North Gwinnett.
Very well executed drive.
And then hitting their big time tight end for the touchdown.
But how versatile is he the way he can be moved around, how he can flex out and just he's a mismatch.
When you talk about putting a cornerback on him.
So now Brookwood getting ready to receive their first kickoff of the game after the 24 yard touchdown reception by Max Patterson kick coming down inside the five yard line and stopped at the 15 yard line.
Wilson Taylor on the kick.
Coverage stopped.
Steph Love shy of the 20 yard line, and that's where the Broncos will go on offense for the second time tonight.
Wayne let's take a look at your Breda Pest Management impact players.
xAI Conaway the three star headed to Arkansas State.
Great ball skills.
You a three star Caden McKenzie.
The massive right tackle.
Jackson Hayes a physical dependable pass rusher on the edge and Bryson Ford their best cover corner for North Gwinnett.
He matches up man to man outside.
So first and ten for the Broncos.
Chapman back to pass.
He's going deep across the middle.
Had a man out there.
Threw it to long.
Was looking for Conaway on that play.
And it's going to be second down and ten.
One of the interesting things about this game here is how the North Gwinnett defense is going to try to play.
Chapman.
Typically, the defense has spies on Chapman.
You can explain what that means, but Parkview tried to use two spies on Chapman and he had a big game.
Yeah, he's just a guy that's so dynamic.
As his coach said, there's really no bad play because he knows how to play off schedule.
So you spy a linebacker, you spy the d tackle.
Someone has to be patient to be able to try to contain him and keep him in the pocket.
Wow.
They stopped Tycen that time and drive him back.
Good hard defense right there.
And you see Godfree at the end of the play, shoving at him.
Scoring drive is brought to you by DBHDD in the new red ribbon 365 curriculum.
And for the Bulldogs it was ten plays 80 yards.
Great job playing downhill.
Jake Godfree you've been looking for that matchup between Godfree and Tycen in the whole North Carolina State versus South Carolina.
Third down and ten after the stop of Tycen on the run pass is thrown, it's going to be complete and that's going to be a first down catch and run by Brice Patterson.
So that'll give him a first down as you take a look at the Broncos offense brought to you by Johnny's New York style pizza with Chapman at quarterback.
Tycen and of course, Braden Tycen, the running back Conway Love and Patterson are the wide receivers along with Latimer.
And then you got Mussington, Smith, Parker, Baltimore and the massive Caden McKenzie at right tackle.
He's committed to you a be Chapman throwing complete to the tight end.
Mixon and Mixon across the 40 flag comes out at the end of the play.
Flexing the two tackles out wide.
A strange formation here for Brookwood as they take the two offensive tackles.
And then right here improvising playing off schedule is Chapman hitting his big tight end.
Logan Nixon.
Personal foul facemask on the defense 15 yards to the end of the run.
It'll be first down.
So that'll be a 15 yard Markoff following the big pass completion of Logan Mixon, who's committed to Georgia State.
A little trickery there for the Broncos flexing those tackles out wide.
And we'll talk about it.
This is a very unusual offensive line.
You've never heard anything like it.
And neither have I. They change positions on their own.
The coaches don't change it.
They'll you might be playing right tackle and then you might be snapping the ball.
Chapman on the run, coming to the near side trying to get outside.
Not going to be able to do that.
Godfree on that tackle.
That would be career tackle number 400.
And there's the Bulldogs on defense with Hayes Autry Glass and Washington up front.
Copeland and Godfree are the linebackers Williams and Ford the corners.
McKinnon Johansen and Brown are the safeties.
Brown technically is the star position, which is kind of a hybrid safety linebacker.
So second down.
Handoff goes to Tycen.
Tycen made a man missing the hole and going to pull his way forward.
He is just alone.
He's hard to get down with one man.
And he has quick feet.
He has a good jump cut, a big man about 235.
I think they might be missing a couple of pounds when they say that, but he's a downhill weapon that they continue to just wear on you with.
He's rated as high as the number 21 running back in the nation, committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Chapman going to run it up the middle.
Spin move picks up the first down close to the ten.
Nice job right there pulling this ball.
The excitement the electricity right here.
You talk about Chapman.
Good blocking by the offensive line as well right there.
Hard to tell which position as you said Matt the lineman is coming from because they play musical chairs.
And one of the biggest things that Coach Nibert said, they all snapped the ball.
They can all rotate in at center.
Mike Johnson now in the backfield as well with Tycen Tycen going to get the handoff right up the middle and Tycen Jackson Hayes Jake Godfree getting him on the ground, but he's all the way down to the ten.
Picks up four.
Good patience there by Tycen.
The thing I love about him just watching him run.
He knows what kind of back he is.
He's not going to let you force him in to trying to bounce it to the outside.
If he really doesn't have it right there, just fighting for two or 3 yards.
Going to come off the field on second down.
Mike Johnson, who's their lightning or so they call him that.
But Coach Nibert says he can run between the tackles.
They keep him in the game, going to run between the tackles right there and gets swallowed up.
Jackson Hayes, the defensive end, was the first guy to hit him.
Good push right there.
Hayes working against Caden McKenzie.
The massive guard pulling around.
Watch how he knocks McKenzie down.
What a physical play.
What a physical play there.
By Jackson Hayes.
Who's giving away 100 pounds in that battle.
Third down.
Tycen back in there gets the handoff.
Tycen rumbling inside the five.
And that's going to be close to a first down.
Tycen just so dangerous in that situation.
Off the edge.
Once he gets to that second level, the physicality, the foot in the ground right there, get up field running over the safety.
On fourth down they go for it and get the touchdown.
Just hard to stop a bat like this.
Young man.
Can't say it enough.
The size the combination of the speed the footwork here.
Good blocking United Baltimore pulling around and just helping his run make get into the end zone.
So the touchdown run by Braden Tycen is the 57th of his career.
And now palm is on for the p a t. Puts it up and good.
And it's a 14-7 lead for Brookwood.
What a first quarter we've had.
We talked about it being a popcorn game.
And it is living up to the hype.
These two teams offensively are just so explosive and right there answering the bell once again is Brookwood.
The combination of Chapman and his ability to run the ball, with the dominance of the four star Tycen and this offensive line just pushing, they kind of.
You can tell they know their identity and they lean into.
It.
To the kicker.
The only kickoff.
So you heard our referee announce that running into the kicker is the call.
They will tack that penalty on to the kickoff.
Running into the kicker called by R point was good.
Enforce it on the kickoff.
Mike Boyd is our referee tonight making the announcement.
And a 14-7 lead for Brookwood.
Just 48 seconds left here in the first quarter.
I'll get it to you later.
So wow.
Brookwood has really come out and kind of taken it to North Gwinnett in the fact that they've got the lead here.
And until tonight, North Gwinnett had not trailed the entire season.
Both teams, the ability to run the ball has been key here in this first quarter.
Uh North Gwinnett using a variety of backs between Brown Taylor and Saunders and the main man, Tycen for Brookwood, these defensive fronts, these linebackers are going to have to make some adjustments and figure out how to get the Tycen early.
So now Luke Scott is back there.
Luke Smith, pardon me, is back there to take the kick and he will take it in the end zone.
Nonreturnable so Palma does his job and North Gwinnett once again has to start at the 20 yard line.
Of course they went 80 yards the last time they had the ball.
Definitely came out, responded very well.
The execution up front, the ability to run the ball, stay out of third and longs on that drive.
And then the completion there of Rahman to Patterson, you're going to have to keep pace offensively in these kind of games.
You know what's on the other side of the field.
So you're going to have to execute.
Don't beat yourself and don't turn the ball over.
So the second quarterback Banks Halcomb is now in the game for North Gwinnett.
This is planned.
He's been offered by Georgia State and Pitt.
And the first thing he does is hand the ball off.
Good penetration there.
And that's what his key to try to stop the run.
Good job getting up field inside to stop that play by Brookwood.
No running room for Stephen Brown that time offered by Colorado State and Georgia State.
18 total players for North Gwinnett with college offers and 22 for Brookwood.
Once again going with the hard count, getting Zyon Preston to jump offside.
A free five here for the Bulldogs.
Broncos number one for five.
This d line of the Broncos playing tight to the ball when you can on one step, touch the other side of the of the line.
You're tied up on the ball.
No room there, giving North Gwinnett.
So second down and five following the penalty.
Ball's on the ground again.
And Brookwood got it again.
Fumble recovery for the Broncos.
And that is Elzy who comes up with it.
As we talked about once again Julian Elzy coming off the edge this time high snap bouncing out of Banks Halcomb hands right there.
And you could see the intensity of Kelce going to take that ball away from the quarterback.
So now Brookwood can go up by two touchdowns here.
13 seconds to play in the quarter.
A couple of crucial turnovers by North Gwinnett have put them in an uncharacteristic hole.
Brookwood team needs no help scoring the ball.
We've seen them with the short field.
And in these situations, as we all know, a great time for Chapman to go up top.
Handoff goes to Tycen, goes off tackle.
Tycen inside the ten.
Just carrying defenders all the way down to the five.
Just so tough.
Once he gets to the second level.
Hard to bring this young man down.
Well built big legs thighs, physical runner right there.
And you saw Marshall Brown.
It took 6 yards for him to pull him down on the ground.
And that is the end of the quarter.
And what a quarter it has been for Brookwood.
As they try to hand North Gwinnett their first loss of the season, stay alive in the region, 77, a region championship race.
They got to have a win tonight after one quarter.

Heads up, Georgia, parking your phone while driving saves lives.
As we come back for the start of the second quarter and a little bit of a stunner after 12 minutes as Brookwood leads North Gwinnett 14-7 you take a look at the region 77 A standings and you can see why it's so important here.
North Gwinnett and Peachtree Ridge are tied for first.
Brookwood is one game behind them or a half game behind them at 2-1 and tied with Parkview, a team that beat them last week.
So Brookwood can't afford another loss.
They've got a win to stay in the championship hunt here in the region, and Brookwood and North Gwinnett both have Peachtree Ridge left on their schedule.
Chapman hands off to Tycen.
Braden Tycen gets stopped.
A couple yards on the play.
Good hard tackle by McKinnon the safety to stick his nose in there and make the stop.
Trying to get into the legs of Tycen in that situation.
The physicality that he brings.
I know we talked about Derrick Henry looks like a little Garrett Blount to me used to play for the bucks.
Just a physical, nasty runner.
Tycen gets it again.
This time he's moving the pile.
He's going to get stopped.
Great gang tackling by the Bulldogs to keep him from getting into the end zone.
Stepping up to the challenge.
You're going to have to play downhill.
You're going to have to shoot your gun to make a play.
Watch the black jerseys.
They're going to get on that side of the ball.
Five bodies pulling Beau Brown right there.
Copeland.
Everybody has to rally to the ball against this kind of weapon.
And Tycen.
Third down and goal.
Tycen gets it again, this time he cracked the end zone.
Still no sign they're going to say he's stopped inside the one.
Tycen didn't get there.
They're going to stop him inside the 1 yard line.
So it's going to be fourth and goal from inside the one.
Nice job.
Jake Godfree playing downhill.
Good job.
A lot of bodies as he's trying to push his way to the end zone.
Great job by the defense rallying.
So a time-out's been called by Brookwood as they wanted a quick snap the ball.
And instead they called a time out.
And a big fourth and one coming.
Up out.
Of the half.
When we get back.
All right.
What do you think, Jasper?
Honestly, I think that polyester shirts affecting your game.
What?
I think cotton would have been a better choice.
Cotton?
Yeah, it's come a long way.
You know, nowadays, cotton breeze and wicks moisture.
Great.
Plus, buying cotton means supporting Georgia farmers.
I think that's wonderful.
Okay, sure.
But what do you think about the putt?
Oh, it's really hadn't thought about it.

Fourth and goal from about a foot at the goal line for the Brookwood Broncos.
Wayne what do you think they do here?
Right here.
You got to go to Tycen right here in this kind of situation.
Trust your offensive line.
This is the part of the game and the part of the field where they have to be dominant.
If not in that situation, you put Chapman underneath center and let him just quarterback sneak.
Nelly.
What you got.
You're going to see a lot of beef in between the tackles.
You're going to crash the safeties meaning North Gwinnett so that you might have six or seven guys on the line.
They want him to read the eyes of the quarterback to figure out what direction this play is going to go.
So here you go.
Fourth and goal from the 1 ft line.
Big moment here early in this ball game.
Chapman the quarterback with Tycen lined up behind him.
Tycen gets the hand off.
And did he get in?
Still no signal.
And they're going to say he got stopped at the one Tycen the huge running back gets stopped at the 1 yard line or inside of it.
Good job right here.
Late on the handoff penetration off the edge.
As you can see by Brown getting to him early.
Number nine able to get on him.
Get a body on him.
And he tripped over his offensive lineman right there.
As you can see on the ground.
Never really had a chance of being able to work that play because the lineman was already at his feet.
So that was McKenzie that he fell over the top of.
And the ball goes over.
On downs for North Gwinnett inside their own 1 yard line, but they avoid giving up the touchdown.
Rahman back in there at quarterback.
Brown, the running back.
Rahman going to pass out of the end zone.
Gets it downfield.
And it's caught at the 25 yard line.
What a big play ball going to Evan Hawkins.
The little man with the big gain.
One of the best receivers in the state here leading him.
Great pass there by Rahman.
Beautiful job of stretching out to catch this ball by Hawkins.
The 55 wide receiver with an offer from Mars Hill.
Just a dynamic talent.
Just the recruiters shy away from him because of his lack of size.
But a big time catch right there.
By Hawkins as the handoff goes to Brown.
Brown and Brown up to the 34 yard line.
Once again, Stephen Brown finding that crease getting downhill right there.
Running over the Joker.
Julian LC.
Quick back to the line of scrimmage and he gets stopped in his tracks by Chris Scott.
Scott getting the TfL after the handoff to Brown.
147 Brookwood on top.
But the North Gwinnett defense just stopped the Broncos inside the 1 yard line on fourth down.
Now trying to put together a 99 yard drive.
, one with the hard count almost getting the defense to jump once again.
Pfister over there did not go over the ball.
Rahman going to throw it out here complete to Patterson and Patterson lunges forward to the 38 yard line.
I think he got the first down with the lunge.
Very close.
Used all of that 66 frame.
Nice job.
Good ball here.
Great find to be able to find that ball by Patterson.
Did get the first down at the 38.
Just a massive talent at 6:06 245 pounds already.
NFL size tight end playing high school football.
Definitely looks the part of Sunday type talent headed up to pit the four star.
Coach Godfree is glad to have him back full speed.
Handoff goes to Taylor.
Wilson Taylor nope.
They faked the handoff.
I was following Wilson Taylor and it was Luke Smith ending up with the ball.
RPO game great ball here.
Good job going up at the high point by Smith to bring that ball down for his quarterback.
So first and ten ball at the 46 yard line.
We wondered how these quarterbacks would react with a little rain.
Little miss falling on the ball.
Good job right there.
And strong hands shown there by Luke Smith.
Yeah the rain has picked up a little bit more as we've gone on into the second quarter.
Brown gets stopped in his tracks once again.
That was.
Brown with the carry.
Let's see.
That was not Chris Scott that time.
Cruz Julius stepping.
Up.
Yeah the backup the young sophomore playing downhill.
Nice job right there.
Good form tackle.
Yeah.
Cruz Julius has only five tackles on the season.
He's a sophomore.
Offered by Toledo Georgia State and f I you.
But he's seen a lot of playing time so far tonight.
Taking time to get this play in going deep into the play clock here.
Got to get this off.
If you Rahman.
Rahman steps up in the pocket to avoid the rush.
Heaves it downfield.
Incomplete going for Hawkins at the five yard line.
Right there.
If you're Rahman, there's plenty of green grass when you step up into that pocket.
It's great chance there to take off.
Not sure he knew where he was on the field.
Going to bring up third down and ten.
Rahman up until that incompletion right there had been six for six for 75 yards.
Bulldogs are one for three on third down so far tonight.
And now a Time-out is going to be called by North Gwinnett.
Once again, just taking a long time to get the play in.
After he's going with the hard count, defense gets set.
North Gwinnett he's taking the play.
Time out of the half.
And he's taking him down to a three or 4 seconds left on the play clock before he can even survey the field.
Let's take a look at the North Gwinnett resume.
2017 state champions.
That's the only state championship they have in their history that started back in 1962.
They defeated Colquitt County 19-17 12 region championships, four straight, ten straight playoff appearances, 21 of the last 22 years they've been in the state finals three times.
Also played Lowndes in 2007, Norcross in 2013, before finally beating Colquitt there in 2017.
65th year of football for the school here in Suwanee was an old country school back when it started, but it's right in the middle of metro Atlanta now.
Beautiful campus here.
Great feel good environment.
This offensive line for the Bulldogs has done a good job here.
Tonight.
We talked about the musical chairs of Brookwood, but North Gwinnett O-line has been doing a good solid job up front.
118 yards of offense so far for the Bulldogs tonight.
The handoff big strong run Stephen Brown inside the 30 yard line.
Little counter pull to the left here.
Brown bouncing off the tackle.
And this is what his coach talked about.
Just hard to tackle right there.
Punishing the safety.
Stepping up there.
Nice job finishing that run.
Picking up that first down.
First and ten Rahman got oh my goodness.
Nearly had his head taken off.
Brown gets clotheslined.
Wilson Taylor gets clotheslined right there at the line of scrimmage.
Ibrahim playing out of that safety position.
A little venom on this play.
Watch one steps in.
Ibrahim right there playing down the line of scrimmage.
Nice job there.
That's one of the things that Coach Nibert loves about his safeties.
They're all very physical.
Ibrahim Brown and Elzy Ibrahim's been offered and committed to Western Kentucky over an offer from Kennesaw State.
Took an official visit to see the owls, as well as Middle Tennessee.
Rahman on the back pedal, throws it up there for Patterson.
It gets broken up by LC.
LC is a really good safety Brent he's got a good one going to Georgia Tech.
He can really get to the high point of the ball and knock it down.
Big pressure there by United's Baltimore inside.
Nowhere to step up there for Elam.
And then just a great job by Julian Elzy 62200 pounds.
Smart a big hitter as his coach said one of those guys that loves to hit makes you run the other direction.
But showing you why, his coach said he can do everything out on the field.
Third down and 12 line to gain is the 19 for North Gwinnett.
Approaching the halfway point of the second quarter under a slight drizzle here in Suwanee pass, thrown back to the other side to Hawkins and he dropped it.
He doesn't do that very often.
Are.
Usually short hands.
One of the best hands on this team trying to run a screen back to the other side of the field.
And now, do they feel confident that in this weather they can try this field goal here?
So they have not made a field goal this season.
There zero for one.
Wesley Rogers This will be his first attempt.
Liam Hughley took the first one and this is a 49 yard attempt.
Moved it up a yard.
The 48 yard attempt time-out called by Brookwood.
You see Banks Halcomb as the holder.
So watch for a trick play.
Brookwood is time.
Out.
Known or North Gwinnett is known for trick plays.
Brookwood first time out of the half.
And you get the feel.
That's why Coach Nyberg called that time-out to make sure this is a long field goal in good weather.
So 49 yards, he wants to make sure they're in their p a t safe, where you just kind of make sure you stand up and keep your eye on the quarterback on the holder.
Let's take a look at Brookwood.
Resume two state championships in the Broncos history.
1996.
They won under the legendary coach Dave Hunter, beat Valdosta, and then they won it again in 2010, beating Colquitt County under head coach Mark Cruz.
They've only had five head coaches in their entire history, Chad Nibert being the fifth 11 Region championships.
2021 was the last five state finals appearances in their history that started back in 1982, making this the 45th season of Brookwood Broncos football.
So you've only had five head coaches in Broncos history, most notably the Hall of Famer Dave Hunter, who we hope is watching tonight and doing well.
Coming out.
Rogers.
For Temile.
So here comes the field goal attempt by Rogers.
Snap gets back kick is on its way.
It's got distance and it is going to be good.
Wesley Rogers connects from 48 yards.
That was impressive.
Gets a hug from the coaches as he goes to the sideline.
That's a big kick right there.
And that makes it 14-10 What what confidence.
Coach Godfree showing right here in his kicker.
We talked about his range.
And he said somewhere in that 45 yard range right there hitting for 49.
You have to feel that's just about in this kind of game with a team on the other side in Brookwood, Brookwood can score a lot of points.
You got to take those kind of gambles.
A big hit there by Wesley Rogers.
Yeah, you got to get your points on these possessions because I mean, there's going to be a lot of points scored here tonight between these two teams.
They average a combined 90 points per game.
So an impressive field goal by Rogers.
And now he tees it up and is ready to go.
Michael Johnson is the man.
All that started with that goal line stands by the North Gwinnett Bulldogs defense.
Great job goal line stands.
He's turned out to be three points for your team.
So Michael Johnson is the deep man for the Broncos.
And Rogers has it teed up and ready to go and whistles as he lets it fly.
Let's check the call.
Slightly in this situation going to get offsides.
Encroachment on the kicking team.
Five yard penalty Rekick.
So the good news out of making them rekick here or having to rekick is the Broncos might be able to get out of return out of.
This honey.
Get a chance.
Mike Johnson, the explosive running back.
And you feel the momentum with that goal line stance has kind of shifted over North Gwinnett.
So Rogers kicking from the 35 this time.
And Mike Johnson has it going to the end zone anyway.
So it will come out to the 20 yard.
Line.
Still pumped up from that long field goal right there as Wesley Rogers.
No.
Doubt no matter where distance the young man deciding he's going to kick it in the end zone.
Now as we mentioned, North Gwinnett has been on a little bit of a run here since they lost to, or rather Brookwood since they lost to North Gwinnett last year, 36-10 They've won 13 of their last 15 games.
We got all kinds of cute dogs out here tonight.
Maverick goes out and gets the T. Mike Johnson on the carry, gets 5 yards on the play.
Jackson Hayes falls on top of him.
Johnson.
With a little pace getting the run game going.
Mike Johnson a capable backup.
Just not getting a lot of touches when he's in.
Tycen back in there up to the 30 1 yard line.
Once again showing you the patience.
There as Tycen the footwork to get into that hole.
Falling forward for that first down.
Big strong running backs knowing they can get out of tackles and power their way up the field.
Nice job.
By Tycen.
Pass is thrown in the middle and it's going to be caught.
That's going to be close to the first down.
That is going to be a first down catch by Latimer.
Nice job Adam making himself available.
Gary Chapman right there showing you the arm his ability.
Quick release getting that ball out of his hand.
Tycen gets the handoff.
Big hole for Tycen.
Watch out when he gets into the open field and he's all the way down to the 38.
Business decisions made in the back end.
Once again, good job of blocking.
Look at this hole off to the left side.
Good job there.
By Adrian Smith.
The left guard.
Just don't want to see a guy that big and that powerful coming through that clean until your secondary.
Braden Tycen got a chance at 100 yards here in the first half.
Johnson now gets it.
And Godfree slings him backwards.
Nice job there.
Godfree playing downhill.
Jackson Hayes is well.
He's been getting off the ball, getting in the backfield, trying to get to these backs before they get going.
Only thing right there if you Hayes the danger is Gary Chapman pulling that ball on those RPOs.
I haven't seen him really do that yet tonight.
So Godfree has gone over 100 or 400 career tackles here tonight.
Already.
What an accomplishment.
400 career tackles in high school football.
Chapman scrambling around back there.
Now he is going to run and he's going to get the first down and more flags going to come out.
Going to have a late here late late hit here.
On Bryson Ford.
Definitely a situation here with Chapman.
He gave himself up right there and Bryson Ford finished him off.
Didn't like what he saw downfield.
Good protection initially.
And then just the ability to improvise to speed.
Nice job.
And you can see right there at that end taking a big hit there by Bryson Ford.
Dead ball, personal foul with targeting on the defense after this of the goal.
First down.
So that's a big penalty on North Gwinnett.
That's going to put the ball down at the ten yard line.
Chapman's got four for speed so he's legit.
When he gets in the open field he's going to be hard to corral.
And I think sometimes surprises the defense.
You kind of forget how fast he is and it's just electric.
He comes at you real fast right there.
Bryson Ford just a mental error by the cornerback.
I think it's not goal to go just yet.
It's just outside the ten.
And Tycen.
Gets down to the five.
Kind of losing his footing as he got through the hole.
There is Tycen keeping his balance helmet off right there.
So that means Tyson's got to come out of the game.
He was at 90:05 yards rushing here in the first half prior to that run.
Right there.
Got a tight those chin straps up.
And definitely if you're the Bulldogs you're ripping at the helmet because I can get him out of the game for a play.
And we saw the wreck.
We had the record last week.
Yes.
The Gainesville.
Roswell game popping off.
That was the record last week.
Seemed like it happened on nearly every other play.
Hand off goes to Johnson, goes to the far side.
Johnson going to dive into the end zone.
Mike Johnson takes it in for his third rushing touchdown of the season.
And it is 20-10 Beautiful blocking off that left side right there.
Mike Johnson as you can see.
Look at the blocking there.
Good job there by Logan Mixon.
The tight end.
Then the acceleration of Johnson just the ability to change gears to get up field and get into the end zone.
I think We've had extraordinary blocking on both sides of the ball, both offensive lines so far in this game.
Palma on for the p a t and he's going to put it up.
And it's going to go through.
21-10 Brookwood with an 11 point lead on North Gwinnett with 331 to play in the half.
What an impressive first two quarters for the Broncos.

It's nice and dry up here in Lee.
Sorry about that.
That's what I figured.
Yeah.
We're really feeling for you right now.
I bet you are.
So here's the story.
2110 Brookwood Leading North Gwinnett.
Broncos have to win this game to stay in the region seven, seven a championship hunt.
North Gwinnett has won four consecutive region titles.
They are 30-3 The last two plus seasons.
They have not lost this year.
They're 6-0 But right now, not saying they're on the ropes right now, but Brookwood is more than holding their own with North Gwinnett at this point.
That Kick's going to get into the end zone.
Looked like there was some miscommunication right there.
But fortunately for the Bulldogs, it bounces into the end zone.
Our scoring drive brought to you by DBHDD and the new red ribbon 365 curriculum, eight plays and 80 yards for the Broncos.
A physical run to get into the end zone there by Mike Johnson.
But this Brookwood offense is just in a groove.
You can see they're running the ball.
Gary Chapman hasn't even really done the big thing yet that we expect he's going to do.
They're just running behind that offensive line doing a great job.
Broncos have 135 rushing yards here in the first half.
Handoff Stephen Brown continues to run hard.
Gets up to the 30 yard line.
Conaway comes from the corner position to make the tackle.
We talked about one offensive line.
This offensive line.
Josh Jones the big left tackle doing a good job 57.
Good job out on the edge by the receivers.
Blocking as well.
Stephen Brown sneaky.
He's just a good complete back.
And watch for the sophomore number 78 Shawn Temile.
Rahman on the keeper.
Going to get dropped at the 30 1 yard line.
1 yard gain.
Chris Scott making another tackle for the Broncos, mentioning Shawn Temile number 78, a 65, 295 tenth grader with offers already from Georgia and Alabama and Nebraska to.
The size of the young players nowadays, only a sophomore and close to 290 pounds.
So you just imagine at some point he's going to be six, seven, three, 20.
With great potential, and his coach says he's going to have a bright future.
Under 3 minutes to play in the half.
Rahman has to get rid of it.
And does he got leveled or got hit as he was throwing.
He was trying to get the ball to Christian Jackson incomplete.
As intended.
For holding here.
On this 54.
But pressure off the edge right there.
Just barely getting that out.
Just a little tap by the safety coming off the edge.
Holding on the offense.
Ten yard penalty from the previous spot.
Replay the down.
That was Faraz Ibrahim again, you already mentioned how ferocious the tackler he is from that rover position.
He's six feet 180.
Both of these safeties in the Brown and Ibrahim play downhill.
They like to get into the mix.
They've got Ibrahim Brown and Ellzey in that safety rotation.
Brown is the son of former Georgia Bulldogs star running back Thomas Brown.
Ball complete to Hawkins out on the edge.
They threw a block.
Look at Elzey, shed the block and get the tackle.
What a job by.
El-Sayed.
Great range for Elzey.
You have to imagine whether they're going to do at Georgia State.
The way he can play down in the box.
Georgia Tech I mean Georgia Tech excuse me, the way he can play down that in the box.
So physical is he a wheel backer on the next level.
62200 pounds.
He's approaching that size.
Third down 14 to go.
Play clock at seven Rahman.
Heavy rush in trouble.
Eludes the rush.
Throws on the run.
Incomplete.
Trying to get it to Patterson, who's coming back on the play.
Fourth down.
They're going to have to punt.
Good job.
By the D tackles right there.
Mussington and Baltimore pushing the pocket trying to step up.
Just didn't have time to be able to set his feet and deliver this ball.
But United Baltimore 51-52 right there.
Mussington they come off that offensive line.
And right there you can see he sees Max Patterson just can't set up to deliver the ball.
So Hughley is on the punt standing at his 11 yard line.
Snap gets back there and he gets the kick out of there.
A line drive kick that's going to be taken at the 37 and returnable by Green.
And Green gets run out of bounds.
Gets thrown out of bounds by Godfree.
And the flag is going to come out.
That's going to be a 15 yard penalty.
And now more flags come out.
Things getting chippy over there on that sideline.
Very uncharacteristic there by Jake Godfree.
But you can see clearly out of bounds when he I'm not sure if he lost sight of where he was on the field, but losing.
His cool, it's going to cost him 15 yards.
But you can see right here one coming out of your screen right here.
Just finishing the play and clearly out of bounds.
And that is a personal foul.
After the play personal foul on the kicking team 15 yards added to the end of the run.
First down.
It's just not a smart play there by the captain of the team and the heartbeat.
Just a little frustrated here in this first half.
Yeah it's been tough dude.
They've been down all season and right now they're losing by 11.
And Brookwood's going to end up having the ball at about the 40 yard line.
I think.
Let's see where they end up spotting this thing.
And they're going to have a minute and 35 seconds to work with.
They got two time-outs remaining, so they've got more than enough time to score a touchdown here.
Two time-outs still have the ability in this situation to be able to thread the ball, to run the ball, especially how Tycen and Johnson can get big chunks.
First and ten Tycen gets the handoff.
Tycen knocking guys down like bowling pins all the way down to the 27 yard line.
Yeah, the physicality at the end of the run, once he gets into the secondary, he knows he's the biggest thing out there and he's running over people.
Back to live action and Tycen this time is going to take a loss.
Great pursuit by that North Gwinnett defense.
This time to rally to the ball.
And Gabe Autry gets the TfL.
Autry and Marshall Brown playing on that back side as well.
Good job there.
By Gabe Autry.
The penetration right there forcing him to the backside.
Just not able to outrun Gabe Autry.
So that was a big play clock.
Now under a minute.
And it is running left here in this first half.
Trips formation here at the bottom of your screen.
And now green comes in motion towards the line.
And the ball goes to Green Braddock Green with the catch.
And that's going to be a first down inside the 27.
Green showing that toughness right there.
Running inside a little inside slant riding into the linebackers.
Great job catching the ball.
That's just the third catch of the season for Braddock Green.
And then Mike Johnson on the carry gets stopped.
And Godfree has some words with him.
Time-out called by Brookwood before that play was snapped.
So the clock stopped with 0:29 Time out Brookwood.
Second charge.
Time out of the half.
So we are seeing a little bit of emotion here.
I think a little bit of upset and frustration on the Brookwood side or pardon me, with the North Gwinnett side.
With him trailing Brookwood by a 2110 score.
Yeah.
This Brookwood offense is kind of had its way.
Uh, when you talk about the Bulldogs, they've been able to run the ball.
It's been tough trying to get to Tycen and stop this running game.
And I think he's just getting frustrated, especially to these linebackers.
And they're trying to keep pace right here is a big third down with the capability they have right here with a time-out.
Which means that everything is open for Gary Chapman.
Plus they got a great field goal kicker in Brady Palmer.
This is well within his range.
Coach Nibert says he's confident in him from 55 yards, so they are well within his field goal range right now.
Shut him up.
Third down.
Tycen gets the rock again.
Only 1 yard on the play.
Let's see if they call a time-out or run the clock all the way down, and then call a time-out.
Looks like they've already called a time-out.
Clock stopped with 20s.
25.
They have not called a time-out for some reason.
They did stop the clock and now they've run the clock again.
So I'm guessing Brookwood is going to run this all the way down and then kick a field goal or try to kick a field.
Goal.
And you feel like that run right there was that they had conceded they were going to try the field goal.
As you could see with Tycen just getting to a half hash and getting down.
Time out.
Brookwood.
Final charge.
Time out of the half.
So Brookwood uses their final time-out to stop the clock with 2 seconds to play here in the second quarter.
They're going to bring Palma out for what I think is going to be about a 52 yard kick, or maybe a 42 yard kick, maybe a 42 yard kick.
Two good kickers in this game and two coaches that are very confident in those kickers as well.
We talked about that frustration of the Bulldogs.
If John's available let's bring him in real quick.
What's the win situation down there John.
If you were watching from the high camera, think of it from the low right of your television screen to the upper left.
And there's a little bit behind it.
So as we were looking at it pregame, you're probably going to aim outside the right upright and have it carry back.
Yeah, we saw Brady Palma working on his kicks with the Wynn.
The tricky Wynn down there, which changes speeds from time to time.
So.
I'm looking at the little flags on the goal post.
They don't seem to be blowing too hard, but this is going to be a 42 yard kick right in the middle.
And now North Gwinnett is going to burn their time out.
Icing the kicker right there.
Time out.
North Gwinnett last time out of the half.
So we use the Ice the kicker kick on Palma here before he tries a 42 yarder.
He's already got a long of 47 this season, a career long of 49.
Bolden offensive display, especially by Brookwood in this first half, the ability to run the ball, the dominance not really relying on Chapman as much in this first half, but the offensive line and these backs controlling the game.
195 yards of total offense for Brookwood here in the first half 1:41 of it on the ground.
They have doubled up North Gwinnett on the ground.
North Gwinnett has 70.
Let's check in with John.
The wind did quit right as North Gwinnett had called.
The time-out picked back up with that little bit of a whisper to it in the direction we were thinking.
Let's see where the aim is and if it kind of does a bit of a draw back in between the uprights to wrap up the half.
Yeah, John, that's what we noticed when we were watching down on the field that the wind kind of changes gears.
It'll blow really hard.
Then it'll slow down.
Here's the kick.
It is on its way and it's got plenty of leg and it is good.
A 42 yard kick by Palma and it's 24-10 at halftime.
Big time leg right there.
Great confidence by his coach.
You talk about 55 yards.
That definitely may have been good from that range for Coach Nyberg and Brookwood.
What a dominant half by that offensive line.
And and Braden Tycen running the ball well executed physical play up front.
Big first half for Brookwood as they try to knock North Gwinnett from the ranks of the unbeaten.
And time now for our Johnny's New York style pizza halftime interview.
Let's send it down to Nellie.
Thank you very much, Matt here with the coach.
When you got a 235 pound back and you got a boatload of blockers in front, you're going to do what you did in that first half.
You're going to give it to them.
You let them try you you I mean he put it in the first time and we they just stopped us barely short the second time.
I mean, good play by them, but we're just going to keep feeding the beast.
Defensively.
Obviously you're keeping that passing game in check too and you're not letting them breathe pretty much between the tackles.
That's pretty much what our plan is just to try to keep it you know keep it contained.
Don't give up the big play.
Stay back.
Make sure everything we tackle, everything in front of us.
We're doing a good job of what we're what we plan to do for this game.
Thanks for your time.
Chad, I appreciate it.
There he goes.
He's got a lead of two scores 24:10 at the break.
When we come back, it's the halftime show.
We'll tour the state here on Football Fridays in Georgia at the intermission 2410.
Your score on the great GPB stick and stay.
We'll be right back.

Tyriq.
And welcome to the halftime show here on Football Fridays in Georgia.
Officially in a no dilly dally zone.
Because frankly, it's wet out here and we're just going to continue to toss the things.
First and foremost, we catch up with our friends at Georgia EMC and we find out what's going on with the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award, a great partnership that we have with them to present this all around the state.
Here is our field trip to Casita and Jatco for the presentation of the award.
Sumter, EMC and 35 other participating Georgia Electric membership cooperatives congratulate Chattahoochee County High on winning the GHSA Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award.
This award honors schools that exhibit exemplary sportsmanship during competitive events.
Only one school in each region in each classification is chosen to receive this annual award.
The GHSA takes into consideration all aspects of sportsmanship, making the award a tribute to the entire community.
Sumter EMC is proud to sponsor the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award that we are giving to Chattahoochee County High School.
We are proud to be sponsors and partners of theirs in this community and at the school.
We are always impressed with their character and how they portray themselves, no matter where they're at.
This community rallies around this school system, and these students are blessed to have a community that supports them.
Introduced in 2006, this award reinforces the GHSA philosophy that everyone associated with high school activities, from athletes to spectators, should adhere to the fundamental values it represents.
We have a saying here called one heartbeat, and that means something to our community.
It validates the culture that we're trying to build here at Chetco.
It goes beyond winning.
It shows us that what we're doing on and off the field is being recognized, and we really appreciate that.
I think getting a sportsmanship award is really good, especially seeing how our school has grown a lot over the years.
And I also think it means a lot to see, like how we earned this and how it can rub off on our underclassmen and how later on when we graduate, then they can carry on the good sportsmanship legacy.
Georgia EMC in the 36 participating Georgia Electric membership cooperatives are proud to sponsor the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award.
Congratulations to the Chat Co.
Panthers community.
Always great to catch up with our friends in Casita.
Great to see them as the presentation continues for the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award around the state here on Football Fridays, we're going to go to break.
But remember this is our 30th season of giving you athletics.
Georgia high school style.
And I've heard that there is a shout out that we have to toss to because we have friends all around the planet that have been wishing us a happy 30.
I heard Cole Bishop has something to say.
Go for it.
One to start high school and super grateful for everything that the coaches, staff, my teammates and the way everybody helped me with my development early on and their continued support of me.
My safeties coach at the time is now the head coach, and I think he, you know, was a big part of my early development, kind of teaching me some stuff about the game.
So I think Starr's mill is has a bright future.
The competition in Georgia is up there with the best in the country, best in the world.
I think it prepares you to take that next step.
You know, you're going against a lot of guys that are going to go play in college or the NFL.
So you've kind of seen some of that talent before.
Um, so yeah, I definitely think playing in Georgia helped.
Congratulations on you guys.
30 years in.
Is your phone really more important than someone's life?
When you take your eyes off the road, you're not just putting your life in danger.
In fact, two out of three people killed in distracted driving crashes in Georgia were not the distracted driver.

A message from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
Georgia's 41 electric cooperatives are anything but static.
Since the flip of the first light switch, we continue to innovate as the demand for energy increases, MCs draw from a wide variety of resources to generate electricity, from natural gas to nuclear power and renewables, so that we can reliably power tomorrow.

Georgia's EMCs so much more than electricity.
Welcome back to North Gwinnett.
Halftime show rolls on here on Football Fridays in Georgia.
The visitors up 24-10 at the break.
Next up for us.
We get to catch up with our friends from Cigna for their signature moments.
Thanks as always to Cigna for being great partners with us here at GPB and Football Fridays.
They're a part of our $1,500 donation that you get to see here in the first quarter.
And they're also a part of the halftime where Hannah catches up with Cigna over at this particular topic and the dangers and the worries associated with alcohol.
To many of our friends and family members are struggling with alcohol abuse.
And teens are increasingly at risk.
Here to tell us more is Scott Kennedy, vice president of sales for Cigna Healthcare Scott.
How concerned should parents be about teens and alcohol?
Hannah.
The CDC has found that 10% of Georgia teens are binge drinking, and teens have a lower tolerance for alcohol compared to adults.
Their bodies and brains are still developing, and that makes them more vulnerable to alcohol abuse.
What are the warning signs that your teen could be struggling with alcohol?
Well, pay attention to changes in their behavior like mood swings, social withdrawal, changes in friends, unusual behavior, or even a drop in grades.
And talk openly with your kids about alcohol and set a good example for them by practicing responsible drinking behavior.
And if you have a problem with drinking, then you need to seek help.
Yeah.
How can somebody get help?
Well, talk to your doctor.
Most health plans offer substance abuse treatment benefits, and your employer may even offer confidential employee assistance programs.
And then Alcoholics Anonymous and Alateen are free local resources within our community.
And you can get help right from home.
So this is so important.
Scott, thank you for being here.
Thank you.

The Governor's Office of Highway Safety will introduce us to their own superhero distraction.
Jackson what's your faction.
Driving?
Distracted is extremely dangerous.
So to help keep you distraction free, here's distraction.
Jackson's safe driver tips as a safe driver, the first thing you should do when you get in a car is buckle your seatbelt, as well as put away the most common distraction your phone.
You can do this by putting your phone in a hands free mount, or by placing it in an area that's out of sight and out of mind.
But cell phones aren't the only distractions in a car.
The radio, eating and drinking, and even other passengers can take your focus away from driving.
By avoiding these distractions, you can help keep the roads safe and traffic flowing.
It's your job to drive safely, and the best way to accomplish that is keeping your eyes on the road.
You can learn more about distraction.

When it comes to the state of Georgia and the teens, we're going to go to break.
When we come back, we're going to find out about what else is going on around the state.
But we got to tell you about someone that you need to know about.
It's our Youth Saving Student Athlete of the week.
You'll find out more about him coming up here in just a second.
It's Noah Breakstone, class of 20:27 at McIntosh high down in Peachtree City.
A lacrosse player who has proven himself at the highest level, setting a state record 13 goals in a single game, 13 goals in a single game is not something any ordinary player does.
Takes an elite player with skill, athleticism, determination to make an impact every time he steps on the field, consistently facing double and even triple teams.
Yet he continues to find ways to score athletic, physical, exceptional stick skills, making him a constant threat to opposing defenses.
But for Noah, success extends beyond the field.
Academics are extremely important to him, and he puts the same commitment into the classroom that he does into his sport.
As we go to break, let's find out more about our You Save It Student Athlete of the week.
We go to the Southern Crescent and visit McIntosh.
I have a state record and I did that last season for most goals in a single game, just 13.
Doesn't matter who you play, scoring that many goals is something that a normal player can't do.
It means a great player did that.
By the time you get to five or six goals in a game, they're starting to double you.
When you get into that teen mark.
If you're going to hit that tenth goal, they're triple teaming you.
And it's not something that when they're triple teaming, you're either doing it nicely.
It's not just a skill level.
It's this competitive level that he's got with him.
He's athletic, he's physical, he's got good stick skills.
I'm Chris Rodriguez with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Congrats to GPB on 30 years of covering high school football in Georgia.
Here's to the next 30.
Go Mustangs.
So let me see if I can get this straight.
It has been it has been tank Bigsby at one point.
But we've heard from Chris Rodriguez.
We've heard from T law and his hair deejay Dallas was there.
Now he's in Minneapolis with the Vikings.
It seems like really a lot of Georgia high school talent has made their way down to the Gator Bowl and to what we're seeing out of the 904.
It's great for the shout out.
Once again thanks to Chris and everybody down there with the Jacksonville Jaguars celebrating 30 seasons with us here at Georgia Public Broadcasting.

We've got some games to focus on, and right now, East Coweta and Westlake.
East Coweta was up 7-0 That was a late start at Shumake down in the Southern Crescent, Cartersville, leading Cedartown second quarter.
That was 21 to nothing.
Camden County and Lowndes.
Welcome to 17 A and road trips with that one.
Kingsland and Lowndes.
That's a pack, a lunch and dinner to midnight snacks.
7-0 Second quarter.
Jefferson leading his Forsyth at the break.
That one's 21-0 Thomasville and Fitzgerald.
Remember there were a couple of games that were moved up because of Hurricane Isaias, and we're keeping an eye on a lot of that, especially action that could be happening tomorrow across the board.
Thomasville in another nail biter over Fitzgerald.
That was yesterday, 24 21 in overtime today in Ellaville Sligh County over Macon County, 26-20 Big win for the Wildcats at home.
Stevenson over GHC right now second quarter 10:07.
Carrollton in the third quarter leading Douglas County by the score of 31-24 Also taking a tour looking at Perry over southwest Macon.
That's a final in Middle Georgia, 55:32 Second half.
Rutland is also winning that.
So it's Rutland.
Sorry.
It's all right.
Just on silly.
Raindrops are blocking my phone.
So it's Rutland over southwest Macon.
55 32 northeast over central Macon 42-0 Yesterday Peach County put 54 on west side.
And that was also yesterday as well.
When we come back, we'll hear from Eric Godfree find out what he told his team at the half.
There were some stops and starts, some key turnovers.
What does North Gwinnett have to do for answers?
We'll find out.
They're down two scores.
That's it for the halftime show.
On the other side it is Matt.
It is Wayne.
It is me.
It is Football Fridays and North Gwinnett trying to make up a 14 point deficit stick and stay.

So much more than electricity.
Start of the third quarter.
North Gwinnett has not lost a game since the state semifinals last December.
Wayne.
But Brooklyn's got a 2410 lead on him.
As we get ready to head to the third quarter, let's take a look at those first half highlights.
And it started poorly for North Gwinnett as they fumbled the ball on their opening possession, leading to an early Brookwood touchdown.
Yeah big break there for Brookwood and the offense getting out there and cashing in with a Braden Tycen touchdown run.
Nine yard touchdown run.
The first of his two touchdowns in the first half.
North Gwinnett comes right back and hits Max Patterson on the 24 yard touchdown pass.
And then once again, Braden Tycen powering his way in for the touchdown for his second of the night.
Mike Johnson takes it in with 3.5 minutes left in the third quarter.
That made it 21-10 after a Rogers 48 yard field goal.
And let's send it down to Jon Nelson for our Johnny's New York style halftime interview.
Thank you very much, Matt here with the coach.
They got 235 coming at you downhill.
It was challenging at points.
You did get stops, but what did you tell him because eventually you're down by 14 right?
Yeah.
We're one short in the box.
And so coming out and fixing that make some adjustments on that end.
Stopping ourselves on offense, too many turnovers, things we don't do.
We usually play very clean.
And uh.
Alex Benson, I think maybe jinx me.
He's talked about how clean we play.
And that was not a clean play first half.
So we've made some adjustments right here.
Second half.
And uh it's going to be a battle.
No doubt about it.
Thanks for.
Your time.
Thank you.
Coach Godfree.
He knows he's got some work to do down by 14.
So let's see what they've pulled out of the hat.
Getting ready for the start of the second half.
Matt.
All right.
Thank you Nelly.
Let's take a look at those first half stats.
And Wayne Woods jumps off the page.
Actually the rushing of Brookwood.
143 in that first half versus 70.
Both teams really kind of ran the ball well.
If North Gwinnett offensively did anything they did run the ball well.
But the penalties as Coach Godfree just alluded to six penalties, 60 yards really hurt their team and some key moments there, especially at the end with the field goal.
Jake Godfree so those two things right there, uh, the time of possession, the first downs are pretty even.
This game has just been won at the line of scrimmage, where Brookwood's offensive line and their run game with Tycen and really just Tycen and Mike Johnson really have dominated.
A couple of individual milestones in this ball game tonight.
Jake Godfree with ten first half tackles.
He's gone over 400 for his career.
He's at 409 right now.
And Braden Tycen with a monster.
First half 19 carries for 108 and a couple of touchdowns.
He is 1 yard shy as we start the second half of 5,000 career rushing yards.
Yeah what a great career for both of those guys.
Jake Godfree a four year starter.
So basically he's been doing this since he was a young 14-year-old.
And on the other side, Tycen got a couple of plays in as a freshman, but he has really dominated over the last three years and he's dominating in this game tonight.
He absolutely is.
At 4.999.
So 4,999 career rushing yards for Braden Tycen as the Broncos will have the ball first to start this second half.
And the second half kickoff is brought to you by heads up Georgia.
Parking your phone while driving saves lives.
So this is a huge possession.
If Brookwood is able to drive down the field and score, they'd go up 31-10 in this third quarter, but a long way to go on that and the kickoff is going to be taken in the end zone.
Nonreturnable.
And so the Broncos will start 80 yards away from the end zone.
And what could the Bulldogs defense do to stop this run game.
You imagine they're going to be bringing more bodies.
And then that is going to necessarily you know, open things up for the big man Gary Chapman.
We haven't talked much about him and what he has meant to this team and this offense.
Right now he's just sitting back and watching the game and watching this rush game.
Yeah.
Chapman just four of six passing for 54 yards.
And they're up two touchdowns.
He hasn't been a big factor in this game yet.
That's Mixon the tight end going from one side to the other.
Handoff goes to Braden Tycen.
He's going to try to bounce it outside.
And going to get 1 yard on the play.
That's a hard 1 yard right there.
And that puts him right at 5,000 career rushing yards.
Congratulations to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Football running back commit.
Trying to bounce it to the outside.
Good job of staying home there.
By Marshall Brown that time.
Being able to pull the big man down.
So second down and nine after the 1 yard gain by Tycen.
And now Mixon the tight end in motion heads downfield.
Chapman scrambles out to his left.
Now he's going to run it.
That's just about the second time all night that he's done that.
And Godfree is there to keep him from getting the first down.
But he does get seven on the play up to the 28.
And that's what this defense wanted to make sure of that.
Gary Chapman did not get outside the pocket that time.
Derek Washington going underneath the tackle.
You can't allow Chapman to get out in space.
Second down and Tycen going to get the first down.
Up to the 33 yard line.
He is just so hard to tackle.
Just a physical run shoulder square plant his feet.
And then it's just hard to get a guy playing with that kind of leverage down in two or 3 yards, as he did right there for the first down.
14th, first down of the game for the Broncos.
And it's first and ten from the 34.
A little bit of delay and a submarine tackle right there at the line of scrimmage by Jake Godfree.
But still gets 3 yards on the play.
Tycen.
And this is the kind of game if you're Brookwood you really want here in the second half.
I expect that they're going to lean onto that run game.
They're going to chew up some clock and put more and more pressure on the Bulldogs.
They do get a chance to run the ball.
I mean get a chance to possess the ball.
Second down and seven.
Very deliberate drive in the making here by the Broncos.
Chapman rolling out to his right.
Going to heave it downfield.
And it is caught coming back on the play.
And the catch is made at the 33 yard line by Bryce Patterson.
Nice job here of the senior coming back to the ball.
And this is what Chapman brings to the field.
The ability right there just throwing off the wrong foot to be able to flick the ball out that far.
Shows you the kind of arm he has.
Look at this formation.
They got the big fellas out there lined up on the hash.
And Chapman gets bent backwards on the play by Godfree.
We saw this earlier where the tackles flexed out.
You could see McKenzie.
And Baltimore.
In Baltimore standing on the hash mark.
When the ball was snapped.
We do have a penalty here, and you imagine it's going to probably be some kind of alignment.
Formation on the offense.
Five yard penalty replay, first down.
Just they got away with it earlier in that first half and just hard for everybody to kind of remember who's supposed to be up on the line and who's not.
Well you got to have seven on.
The line.
You got to have.
Seven have got to be on the line of scrimmage.
Second down.
And so the line of scrimmage stretches across the entire field.
So you just got to have seven on that line.
Yeah Baltimore and McKenzie.
They got to check with the referee.
They got to look out to him and ask him am I up on the line?
So second down and ten after that penalty was declined and the run by Chapman to the near side gets shoved out of bounds, that was Autry there to shove him out of bounds.
Short gain.
On the edge right there is Autry in that situation.
If Chapman goes down, it's going to look more like it was a late penalty right there.
So you got to be smart.
You don't want to give him any easy yards here.
So now it's third down and ten with the ball on the 33.
Broncos have driven from their own 20 to start this third quarter play action.
Chapman in the pocket goes to the far side.
Great catch by Green.
And that's going to be a first down at the ten yard line.
Beautiful back shoulder throw here by Chapman to Braddock.
Green young junior here.
Good protection play action fake.
Stepping into that throw the back shoulder.
Great adjustment by Green to get that Farage quarterback.
So a little bit of a wrinkle here from the Broncos tonight.
Patterson had Caine came into the game with just one catch the entire season.
And Green had just two catches.
But both of them have two catches tonight.
Chapman goes back again to Tycen touchdown Brookwood.
They drive 80 yards on the opening possession of the third quarter, and they lead by 20 here at North Gwinnett.
And nobody on this Bulldog team went with the motion there of Tycen out of the backfield.
He's wide open out in the flat for this.
That great play design.
Just nobody going with him.
Great find for Chapman.
Wow what an impressive start to this third quarter.
As Palma comes out to make it a three or try to make it a three touchdown lead.
And North Gwinnett is stunned.
A team that had not trailed the entire season.
And the kick is up and the kick is good.
And a 31-10 lead for Brookwood.
On number four North Gwinnett.

Once again, you see those big 7-10 yard cushions down low.
Now he's going to look for it comes back to the other side.
Lawrence touchdown to Avery.
Showell.
Second touchdown of the night for Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence and Cartersville dominated.
Thompson 587 in the 2016 title game for the second consecutive undefeated season.
A lot to celebrate 30 wins in a row now for Cartersville.
Lawrence led Clemson to the 2019 national championship and was the number one overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft.

Potential huge upset in the making here in Suwanee tonight, as Brookwood leads fourth ranked and undefeated North Gwinnett by a score of 31-10 the scoring drive brought to you by DBHDD in the new red ribbon 365 curriculum, nine plays, 80 yards and capped by Braden Tyson's third touchdown of the night.
This one a nine yard reception from Gary Chapman.
Very well executed.
Drive big third down conversion.
Chapman to Green and then the easy touchdown once again for Tyson.
Free release right there.
Nobody on the defense going with him.
Chapman reading it all the way for the touchdown.
Been a long time since North Gwinnett has been in a game like this.
They have won 18 of their last 19 games.
But here on the ropes tonight trailing by three touchdowns.
The Kick's going to hop over the returners head and into the end zone.
And North Gwinnett just uncharacteristically sloppy.
Not sharp.
Just like on that play right there.
Letting the kickoff hit in front of you and bounce over your head.
And playing a little flat.
We expected them, this being their second home game of the season.
Been playing a lot of road games.
They're going to play with a little more enthusiasm, a little more energy have been kind of flat now.
Can they find some pass game here with Rahman down the field?
We've seen them been able to run the ball with Brown consistently, but can they get something vertical going here?
Well, coach Chad Nibert said the loss to Parkview last week.
If there's such a thing as a good loss, it was that Rahman going to load up and throw the ball in traffic and it's caught by Jake Godfree at the 40 yard line.
Look at Jake Godfree.
What can't he do.
Playing in at tight end right here.
Great throw and just looking like a true tight end.
Right there is Jake Godfree.
We talked about his ability just to affect the game in so many ways right there.
Looking like a natural tight end.
That goes for 18 yards and a first down at the 38 backwards pass going to Godfree stops and gets a yard on the play.
He was dead to rights and he was still able to get a yard on the play.
He was able to freeze Orlando Brown on the play and keep from getting the TfL.
Orlando Brown did not make the tackle, but a great job of challenging and getting outside of Jake Godfree and making him cut back into the heart of the defense.
So second down and nine as Godfree comes off the field, Rahman quickly fires to the side and that's a nice pickup up to the 44 yard line.
Stephen Brown the running back on the catch.
It's going to bring up third down and four.
You see the urgency of this North Gwinnett offense.
Play is coming in a little faster than it was in that first half.
And you.
Gotta start counting possessions.
Yeah they have definitely.
Because right now you're not sure how your defense is playing against Brookwood.
You're going to have to score and score fast.
Third down and four every play, every third down.
Especially so critical right now for the Bulldogs.
High snap.
Rahman going to run it.
And Rahman is going to be short of the first down.
It's going to be fourth.
And let's see where they spot it.
I thought they were spotting.
They're going to give him the first down.
I thought they're going to spot him short.
He does get the first down.
Right there.
Jake Godfree going in the wildcat.
Was that Godfree.
I thought.
It was position.
Watch.
Yeah it was.
Godfree and Wildcat deciding to put his foot in the ground and just drive himself to a first down.
Yeah, you kind of get the idea that we're going to see a lot of Godfree on offense here in the second half.
They are not going to go down without firing all their bullets, and Godfree is one of their big ones.
Rahman is going to fire.
It's caught by Hawkins at the 36 yard line.
And here come the Bulldogs.
Good protection up front.
This play takes a long time to develop on the play action.
Fake and good find by Rahman.
Tough catch there by Hawkins.
First and ten ball at the 36.
The Bulldogs have moved from their own 20 yard line.
Taylor now in there at running back.
Going to stay in and pass.
Protect.
Going deep.
Man open.
Touchdown.
Paul Cooper with the touchdown catch.
And it's 31-16.
What an answer here by the Bulldogs.
It shows you the kind of character that this team has.
A little on the ropes showing some energy good protection play taking a long time and a dime.
Drop there by Elam Rahman to Cooper.
Rahman can sling.
It.
Really the first time tonight we've seen that energy.
That's the energy we expected.
And right now, no better time to try to keep pace and get back into this game.
So Rogers on for the p a t. He's already kicked a 48 yard field goal tonight.
And this kick is up.
And this kick is good.
And it's 31 17.
It took the Bulldogs Wayne less than 2 minutes to answer the touchdown scored by Brookwood.
Beautiful play design.
Just kind of getting lost behind the defense.
Busted coverage.
Good job of being able to catch that ball over his head right there.
Just a. Well executed drive.
And you kind of saw with putting Jake Godfree it in there that his head coach is saying hey we're going to go down fighting.
We're going to get people in.
Now that's going to show you that energy and a nice job there.
Catching that touchdown by Paul Cooper.
Second touchdown catch of the season for Cooper the junior wide receiver who has offers from Georgia Southern, unlV and East Carolina.
But even with the touchdown catch, the Bulldogs are still down two touchdowns here on their home field.
Rogers booms it great kick.
Nonreturnable Rogers has really shown us a great leg tonight.
Of course we knew about Palma, but Rogers has really kind of come through.
Out of the shadows tonight.
Really kicked the ball well.
Yeah young man great job kicking off and kicking that long field goal.
Scoring drive is brought to you by DBHDD in the new red ribbon 365 curriculum.
And it is six plays, 80 yards and a 36 yard touchdown pass from Rahman to Cooper to cap it.
Kandiss Bulldog defense feed off of that energy.
That offense just got going in this stadium.
Now here with Brookwood and Tycen, you have the ultimate four minute offense A weapon.
I mean, they can just really grind it here with this big bat.
Prior to the snap.
False start offense, five penalty remains.
First down.
First and.
So it'll be first and 15.
Defense is going to have to get a stop.
They're going to have to start playing on the other side of the line.
Man.
Tycen just dragging people.
78 black jerseys just falling as he lunges.
What an impressive young man.
His ability his balance.
Like Chad Nibert said just keep feeding the beast.
Look at him.
Just busting out of tackles and picks up the first down.
I talked to Coach Godfree.
How do you practice against a guy like that?
He has to put a couple of guys in the one on one drills, but right here, the ability to bounce the stiff arm, the balance right there, just hitting him in his legs, nothing is really working.
Defenders just kind of bounce off him.
The best thing you can do is kind of knock him off balance and hope he's close enough to the sideline where he stumbles out of bounds.
Another run by Tycen.
This time they gang tackle him at the point of attack.
You see, they've got big Josh Jones in there.
Number 57, who typically plays left tackle but is a three star defensive lineman headed to Cincinnati.
But they got him on that defensive line right now to try to slow this guy down.
Jones is in there right there.
That was Eric Brown giving Tycen a little breather.
Starting to rotate different backs in there.
Are the Broncos trying to eat up the clock.
As you can see in that kind of four minute mentality.
They're going to take their time.
Tycen at 24 carries for 133.
When's the last time we saw back with 20-4 carries?
Pass to the sideline going to be short of the first down.
Catch made by Brice Patterson.
Patterson.
Like we said, he's kind of been a secret weapon for them.
He's that's his third catch tonight.
He had only one catch the entire season coming into the game.
That's all from Clark Atlanta.
Another big third down.
And you got to keep your eyes on the ability of Chapman to be able to convert with his legs in this situation.
Really have not seen that much tonight.
Play gets blown dead.
A false start penalty.
Prior to the snap.
False start offense.
Five yard penalty remains third down.
This Broncos offense you don't want to continue to have those kind of plays.
You got a lead.
You've been playing mistake free here so far.
Week ago Brookwood had a 21 20 lead on Parkview at halftime.
Ended up losing that game 34 24, scoring three points in the second half.
Chapman going to step up in the pocket.
Got one man to beat.
Beats him.
Chapman's got the first down and more.
Jackson Hayes comes back from behind and makes the tackle.
But a big run by Chapman, his biggest of the night.
It's just so hard.
He steps up the awareness on the field.
A little stiff arm there and then the speed that he has catches you by surprise.
Braden Tycen flag comes out on the play as Bryson Ford trips him up in the air.
And let's check the penalty.
Flag.
Formation on the offense.
Five yard penalty replay.
First down.
That's the third penalty on this drive so far for Brookwood.
Shooting yourself in the foot every time you get a couple of yards.
Now you created another situation where you're behind the sticks.
So first and 15 following that mark off.
Johnson on the carry.
He got stopped almost right away by Brown Marshall Brown.
Another helmet.
Alston Baltimore right guard without the lead for at least one play.
Good job by the defensive line right there.
Getting some penetration allowing the linebackers Godfree to play downhill.
Lost a yard on that play.
Second down and 16.
So Johnson stays in there.
No Tycen on the field right now.
Chapman scrambling gets by the defender and up to the 50 yard line.
Still short of the first down.
Still short of the first down by about 8 yards.
The acceleration.
Chapman just so impressive.
And he decides to run.
He it's like he gets 5 yards before you start even realizing he's running.
The quickness that he shows in the decisive motions when he takes off.
And then when he gets that second level, it looks like he gets even faster.
I played with a guy named Michael Vick that was like that.
Yes he did.
Third down Chapman, clean pocket, going deep, caught behind the defense.
Touchdown.
Brookwood.
Ty.
Samuel with the touchdown catch.
Just his third catch of the season.
It's 37-17 The three star Auburn commit here.
The clean pocket by the offensive line.
The ability to survey the field the big arm to lead the receiver dropping it right in there to Samuel.
All the aspects for what makes a big play was on display right there by Brookwood.
Wow.
Just another guy in the wide receiver corps that had been little used in their first seven games.
Having big games here tonight.
Palma P nearly got to it that time.
But he gets it up and in and it's 38-17 And we can officially say that North Gwinnett is in trouble.
They're down 20-1 with just 15 minutes left in this game.

Breda Pest Management.
Tonight's game is brought to you by Breda Pest Management with Breida.
No need to be afraid of bugs.
336 as the rain falls a little bit steadier here in Suwanee and a stunning score.
38 17, Broncos 6-1 on the season just dropped out of the GPB 78 top ten with their loss to Parkview last week, but on the verge 15 minutes away from upsetting the fourth ranked and undefeated North Gwinnett Bulldogs scoring drive brought to you by DBHDD in the new red ribbon 365 curriculum, eight plays, 80 yards, 50 1 yard touchdown pass to Ty Samuel, second touchdown pass of the game for Gary Chapman.
This is Nonreturnable.
And how about the job?
What a masterful job by the Broncos offensive coordinator Lance Finley tonight.
He's hit him with guys they didn't expect to see coming.
Bryce Patterson had one catch on the season.
He's got three tonight.
Braddock Green had two catches on the season.
He's got two tonight.
Ty Samuel had two catches for 14 yards.
Just got a 50 1 yard touchdown pass.
Yeah the other guys have definitely stepped up.
And when you look at the protection up front the ability to to wait on routes to open up.
Gary Chapman.
And these receivers are delivering for him tonight.
So now a sense of great urgency for North Gwinnett.
Rahman in the pocket.
He's going to go deep.
Flag out incomplete trying to go to Jackson.
Let's see if this is going to be a d p I on Conaway.
A little grab at the top of the route there by Conaway.
Zaire.
Conaway.
The three star Arkansas State commit.
Pass interference on the defense 15 yards from the previous spot results in a first down.
So go ahead.
Guy that likes the matchup man to man got great ball skills.
But you can see right there as Jackson came out of that break he just grabbed him with back of the jersey.
So I think was the clock still running.
You can see yeah you can see Eric Godfree the head coach looking up at the press box and motioning.
He was upset.
I think the clock was still running despite the penalty.
He's asking where's the home?
I love you know I'm home.
The clock is supposed to be on my time tonight.
So a win here by Brookwood tonight would officially throw region seven.
The championship race into the blender.
It would put Peachtree Ridge in first place by themselves pending the outcome of their game tonight, but would drop North Gwinnett, Brookwood and Parkview all into a three way tie for second.
So.
Meaning there's four teams, you know, with a month left in the season, four teams still have very much a chance at winning the region championship.
High snap Rahman fires again to the near side off the hands of his target at the 50 yard line.
That was Jackson again, the target.
For Christian Jackson.
That was Ibrahim on the coverage.
Nice coverage there by Ibrahim.
The rover headed to western Kentucky.
The three star you've seen him in the box.
We've seen him blitzing that timing coverage.
And he had 18.
Offers outside of Western Kentucky who he has committed to.
He also took official visits to Kennesaw State and Middle Tennessee.
So a total of 21 offers hand off Stephen Brown met right there, gets knocked down.
They just drug him out to the outside.
And Conway came and took out his feet.
Great reaction there by Chris Scott.
You see the linebacker do it all this season.
Watch 0-0 in on this ball.
Nice job getting off the block.
Waiting on his buddies to get him down right there.
As you can see Conway getting into the legs of Brown.
Under 3 minutes to play here in the third quarter.
It's third down and ten for the Bulldogs.
Operation of the Bulldogs slowing down just a little bit with the plays coming in.
Rahman gets taken down by Scott at the 40 1 yard line.
And now it's going to be fourth down.
Great job there Scott.
Once again playing in space not buying on the fake there of Rahman trying to direct traffic.
Watch zero once again great job there by the senior.
They got to go for it here don't they.
Fourth and four late third quarter.
They gotta convert here or give the ball back to Brookwood on a short field.
Time-out's going to be called by North Gwinnett.
That'll be the first time-out taken here in the second half.
First charge.
Time out of the half.
Just from the very get go tonight.
Wayne this game has been off kilter for North Gwinnett.
They fumbled on their first series, a backwards pass that ended up just not being caught and rolling around.
Scoop opportunity there by Zyon.
Preston set him up for a quick touchdown by Braden Tycen.
Yeah, they started off flat and I think that just added to it to start off the game.
And but the physicality that Brookwood is playing, especially on offense, coach Nibert talked about what he called first strike.
He wants to make his offensive line and and tight ends come off and strike the line of scrimmage.
First.
Let's check in with Nelly.
Other scores in the region.
We were kind of taking a look.
Norcross was leading Peachtree Ridge in the fourth, 76.
That is now final.
You can add 13 to Norcross, score 20-6 final.
Peachtree Ridge Lions get lost number one on the season.
Back upstairs.
We're in the blender.
I think.
We are in the blender, especially if North Gwinnett loses this game to Brookwood.
There will be four teams in the region with one loss in a month to go.
Godfree out of the Wildcat going to run it straight ahead.
Look at him and Conway finally gets him on the ground.
And it looks like the.
The Brookwood defense thought the play was blown dead.
They really kind of just gave up on the play.
You did hear a whistle, but watch how they just kind of not reacting.
You could see Chris Scott just kind of give up on that play of even tackling Jake Godfree.
So that gets him the first down.
A crucial run by Jake Godfree right there to pick up the first down.
First and ten from the 46.
Rahman looks to the far side now in the middle, up for grabs and broken up booth.
Great coverage right there to deny Cooper, who had a big touchdown catch earlier in this quarter.
Nice eyes right there.
Reaction there by Tycen Booth.
Just a good guy 61 long arms.
Good job there.
Not having a pass interference.
Good timing on that play.
I think this Brookwood defense has been undervalued by many people.
All 11 in their starting lineup have college offers.
And the secondary is star studded.
Here comes pressure off the edge.
Rahman looking, throwing off the hands of Patterson.
Ibrahim with the initial pressure making the quarterback Rahman step up in the pocket, just not able to find his big target in Patterson.
You know this team is going to have to keep challenging vertically.
As you can see, they got to get on the board and they got to get on the board fast.
It's third down and ten.
They are almost in a must score situation on this possession.
Encroachment.
That was Xavier Pfister at the right defensive end position who jumped offsides.
Encroachment on the defense five yard penalty remains third down.
That's really the only negative the defense has done.
That's about their third off side penalty there on the hard count.
Three star Arkansas commit Pfister getting caught again.
Yeah Arkansas State commit committed to the Red wolves one of three players on this Brookwood team that has done so.
Wilson Taylor on the run down to the 35.
He got enough for the first.
To the 35.
Nice run there by Taylor.
Very good compliment to Brown.
As you alluded to partner this this this drive seems like a must have four down territory touchdown drive.
We're down to just a minute left in this third quarter.
And Rahman not going anywhere.
Right there.
Cruz, Julius and Giannis Richardson on the tackle.
Lost a yard under a minute to play here in the third quarter.
Tempo tempo tempo play.
Got to come in.
Got to get things going.
Can't go deep into the play clock.
Each and every play.
If you run.
Pressure off the edge again goes to the far side again.
Off the hands jump ball that Christian Jackson could not come down with, and Tyler Booth, who's a 62, 180 pound, very long, lengthy senior cornerback there on the coverage.
Good coverage, running step for step there with Jackson.
Good coverage there by booth.
I tell you what, Wayne, the comeback attempt is going to be difficult.
Even more difficult than normal because it's starting to rain harder.
Right up the middle, Brown gets into the open, down to the eight yard line.
Wow.
What happened there?
Defense.
Just not aware of where Brown looks like.
Once again we saw this earlier on that Wildcat with Godfree where he just almost seemed like they stopped playing on the play.
Brown gashed him.
First and goal to go from the 830 3 seconds to play in the quarter.
High snap.
Rahman going to run it to the right side and he's going to get thrown down at the eight yard line.
You got big McKenzie in there, 385 pounds.
Caden McKenzie.
Coleman came off there.
Just a massive young man who's showing a lot of toughness.
Been battling through a knee injury.
And trust me when you have that kind of weight bad knee.
You saw the big brace he had on, but a tough minded young man.
Clock running again.
10 seconds to play now less than that here in the third quarter.
Hawkins in motion behind the line.
Rahman looking for him firing.
Got him.
Touchdown North Gwinnett.
Evan Hawkins with the touchdown catch.
He was not happy that he got pushed out of bounds there at the end.
But they'll take the touchdown.
And it's 38-23 On the final play of the third quarter.
Good job extending letting Hawkins use his speed here.
Roll out to the left.
Good find.
Good strike there by Rahman.
Pound for pound.
As good a receiver for any team as Evan Hawkins for his.
Rogers P-a-t kick is up.
Kick is good.
No problem there.
And on the final play of the third quarter, North Gwinnett pulls back to within 14 points, but they are down two touchdowns on their home field.
As we head to the fourth quarter in Swanson.

All right, what do you think, Jasper?
Honestly, I think that polyester shirts affecting your game.
What I think cotton would have been a better choice.
Cotton.
Football Fridays in Georgia presented by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, reminding you heads up Georgia parking your phone while driving saves lives.
We head to the fourth quarter here at Tom Robinson Memorial Stadium and Rainey Suwanee Georgia.
Upset in the making as Brookwood leads fourth ranked and undefeated North Gwinnett 38 24, but the Bulldogs scored on the final play of that third quarter.
Wayne.
They absolutely almost had to score on that drive to stay in this game.
Yeah.
Must have drive right there.
Rahman Schroyer a lot of poise to get that ball to Hawkins.
And now it's all about the defense being able to come out here and get a three and out and get the ball back quickly to Elam Ramos.
That's Wayne Gandy.
I'm Matt Stewart.
Jon Nelson down on the field in his galoshes and.
Brookwood not convinced that they're not going to onside kick here.
I don't think they'll do onside kick here.
Do you.
Know I would keep this kick this ball off.
You had a great kicking game tonight.
They are going to on sidekick takes a big hop.
And it is going to be recovered by Brookwood.
I thought that was a little bit premature right there.
Yeah I think right there you kick off one more time.
Deep especially riding that momentum and see what the defense can do.
You're only down two touchdowns so you kick the ball off.
But a great bounce.
That's the kind of bounce right there that you want.
As you can see the ball got by the first Brookwood return guy up man and gave North Gwinnett a chance.
But Brookwood did recover the ball.
So a big gamble right there because now you fail in your gamble to recover the onside kick.
You give Brookwood a very short field there 51 yards away from the end zone here as they start this drive.
Thought they could have waited on that just like you Wayne.
I thought that was a little bit too quick to pull the trigger on that.
Johnson getting the carry to start this drive down to the 43.
Pike Johnson showing you the football IQ right there.
Getting behind Caden McKenzie and just getting lost.
I don't know that the defense saw him just standing back there.
And then with that burst of speed picking up 8 yards on that run.
Yeah.
McKenzie who is listed as their right tackle, is actually playing inside right now.
The right guard position.
You can see the patience right here of Gary Chapman running this offense.
He's going to go deep down into the clock before he snaps this ball.
Johnson again gets a second consecutive carry.
Did he get to the sticks.
Johnson again with the carry around.
The Godfree was over there to make the tackle along with Ford.
Godfree showing you the speed.
The range able to sideline to sideline to be able to catch up and knock.
Mike Johnson just short of the sticks.
I think.
Got a man down for North Gwinnett right there at the point of the tackle.
I think it's Harrison Johansen the free safety.
So Johansen laying on his back at the 42 yard line.
And we'll take a time out as they continue to tend to Johansen early here in the fourth quarter.

So they continue to work on Johansen over there at the 42 yard line.
So it's hard for us to get eyes on exactly what's going on over there, but it's must be pretty serious.
He's been down on the ground here for a couple of minutes.
And not to take away from the seriousness of what's going on over there at the 42 yard line.
Wayne, let me ask you here, with 11-11 left in this game, what does Brookwood have to do to secure the win?
What can North Gwinnett do to come back and win it?
Brookwood just has to continue to play like they have and run the ball, eat up some clock as we've seen them go into that four minute mentality.
And right here you got to get a stop.
You got to get some three and outs.
You got to force something.
We know the kind of kicker Brookwood has as well.
So you can't it's not like you can give up 20 yards here.
You can't allow any more points on the board if you're North Gwinnett.
See, Johansen is able to walk off the field with the help of some of the training staff.
That would be a huge loss for them because he's, in the words of Eric Godfree, their head coach, he's the glue back there in that secondary.
Yeah, he's the guy.
He's the one who makes the call.
He's the quarterback of the secondary.
A big loss in this kind of moments.
So we'll see who they Cardona I think would come in in this situation.
But we just saw this Brookwood team able to pick up a first down with Braden Tycen on the sideline.
You know he's catching his breath.
Mike Johnson in there running the ball.
That's how confident Coach Nibert is in him.
Yeah.
Tycen 24 carries 133 yards three total touchdowns tonight.
He's gone over 5,000 yards rushing for his career with his performance tonight.
41.
So indeed Cardona CJ Cardona checks in for Johansen back there in the secondary.
Once again Braden Tycen on the sideline.
It's like T Eric Brown is in there.
511195.
Junior has a couple of carries on the season.
Brown is going to get the carry and he's going to get stopped at the line of scrimmage.
So.
And Godfree comes away with the football.
But the officials I believe have ruled it down.
For progress have been stopped right there.
Whistle had been blown as you can see.
Just nowhere to run with this ball.
Good job coming out of the secondary play downhill there by Marshall Brown.
Yeah he took it from him as he was on his way down.
But the whistle had already blown, stopping his forward progress.
So not a fumble and a good call by the officials.
But now it's going to be second down and 11.
Brock Woods don't want to play it too slow of a pace that throws you off, and being able to play with some enthusiasm to convert these plays into positive plays.
Chapman going to run it.
Chapman going to get around the corner and get to the first down marker.
We talked about not pulling that ball in the first half, but in the second we've seen him pull the ball down here.
RPO feels like he has the speed to get to the corner right there.
Good job.
The explosiveness.
Getting over Copeland.
Now Braden Tycen back in and back in the game.
So you imagine where this ball is going.
First and ten from the 31.
Tycen bounces off.
One man gets to the first down yardage down inside the 30.
Wow.
Tycen you got to figure another touchdown here by Brookwood.
Puts this game out of reach.
Don't you think.?
The jump cut and looks like this o line is helping him up.
Not in any rush at all.
Didn't see him get injured at any point.
Just he's like all those star running backs, they get up off the pile.
They look like they're broken in two, and then they bust.
Off a 60 yard run.
Of course, Jim Brown was the first guy to really kind of perfect that.
Chapman going to keep it.
Get around the corner inside the ten.
Chapman down to the goal line.
Did he get in?
Did they signal touchdown.
I think they're going to call him out at the one.
And it looks like he.
Now they call it a touchdown delayed reaction touchdown run by Chapman.
It is 44-24 We've been talking about how Chapman was kind of quiet in that first half.
Just letting the team run the ball and sitting back and enjoying here pulling the speed, the acceleration, getting out of the tackle, covering the ball up and just right there.
That is a touchdown getting into the end zone.
This is no doubt going to send shockwaves around the state.
In the rankings and in the SR as well.
Palma with the P a t is up and good.
Or did he miss it.
He did miss it.
Wow.
He had plenty of leg.
He just pushed it.
And it's 44, 24.
20 yard touchdown run by Chapman.
20 point lead for the Broncos.

No thanks.
I look for cotton now, which grows right here in Georgia, a major source of the world's cotton.
Cotton is natural, renewable, sustainable, and buying cotton supports Georgia farmers.
Good enough for me and my family.

Breda.

Welcome back to North Gwinnett.
The margin is 20 and we are three 0-4 into the fourth quarter.
I have a question for you, Wayne Gandhi.
And it has to do with the Brookwood offensive line.
You know, coming into this game, it was one of those ideas where they're interchangeable and they can play guard or tackle right side, left side.
They can all snap the ball.
How difficult is that to master all three of those skill sets and both sides of the center?
How what is that process like, and how difficult is that to master?
Well, quick tackle, strong tackle is always been something that offensive coaches have done.
Even when I was in high school, the snapping part is something I've never heard of, where the center typically is the center.
There is no strong center, weak center.
Uh, when coach told us that this week, I was very surprised because I'd never heard that, where guys have switched in at center anytime they want to, and all of them have the ability to do it.
Kick taken from the two yard line.
Oh, big hit still on his feet.
Gets to the 25 yard line.
So just to follow up on that, that was all kind of the brainstorm of Thomas Swilley, who's the offensive line coach for the Broncos.
And it started in the spring.
And Swilley played at the University of Georgia, and he thought it would be a good idea if you know, the offensive line could all play.
They could play every position and they could also snap the ball.
He also felt like it would be enhancement for their recruitment to.
Yeah, it's a great thing to be able to do it, but to find a coach that would trust.
Uh, and I think I had too much tape on my hand, so I know I was not going to be able to grip the ball and snap it at any point, especially now how they're always in shot going, gone formation.
Big hole up the middle for Brown and tackle made by Brown.
Orlando Brown at the 47 yard line.
Orlando Brown the son of Thomas Brown who's now the tight ends coach and passing game coordinator with the New England Patriots.
Move down to Georgia, of course, Thomas Brown is from the state of Georgia, and he's moved his family back to Georgia while he's coaching the Patriots.
They were in North Carolina where he was on the coaching staff.
The offensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers.
He was even the interim head coach of the Chicago Bears for a couple of years.
After they fired a couple of years ago, after they fired.
Eberflus pass is caught by Patterson Max Patterson in the open field down to the 33.
But there is a flag down.
Patterson.
Catch up across the 35.
Let's check the.
Good job of improvising there by Rahman, who's kind of moving like maybe something is bothering him in his leg, but great job.
Great.
Find the big target down the field.
Play took a long time to develop here.
Very surprised if you didn't get an offensive lineman that might not have kind of drifted downfield on that kind of play.
Let's check the penalty call here.
If you're wondering, you see the pink on the official's, the pink on the North Gwinnett players.
That's two fouls on the play.
Holding on the offense, holding on the defense.
Those offset replay.
Second down.
Double holds.
So second down and eight again from the 39 yard line.
Got to get vertical.
Got to get a big play.
Must have here on this drive.
Touchdown.
Taylor fumbled the ball.
Brooklyn's got it.
And that's going to make it very very difficult for North Gwinnett to avoid their first loss here tonight.
After another turnover.
Wilson Taylor right here fighting for the extra yards.
Running in between the tackles here on this counter play.
And you can just see right there at the end getting pulled down by crews Julius and just taking the ball away from Taylor.
Julius is another one of those guys.
He had only five tackles the entire season.
He's got six tonight and a big fumble recovery right there.
And the celebration is on over there on that Brookwood sideline.
Wow.
This is going to be a monumental upset.
Not a lot of people saw it coming.
Tycen on the run.
He gets stopped at the line of scrimmage.
But at this point they're just happy.
They'd like to get some yards, but they're really happy just to let the clock run.
Yeah.
Ball security, trying to get a couple of first downs here, see if you can eat half of this clock up, maybe try for a field goal.
But right here it's all about ball security.
11th all time meeting between these two teams and North Gwinnett had won the last two by scores of 37, 14-30 6-10 the last victory for Brookwood in the series had come in 2021.
Looks like they might get one here tonight.
Tycen on the carry again.
Battles forward.
Eaten time.
Clock goes under 7 minutes to play.
It's going to be.
Just been a tough night for this defense of the Bulldogs trying to stop this run game.
And we've seen just how effective once they establish the run with Tycen and guys like Mike Johnson, Gary Chapman's ability to pull the ball.
It's just it's just they're.
144 yards rushing for Braden Tycen tonight.
As great as he is, did you think he'd be able to get that kind of a number on this North Gwinnett defense?
Well, it came in as a team rushing for about 231.
And he's had already 5100 yard games on the season.
And you kind of felt like if they were going to win, it was going to be through them running the ball, having this kind of ability to run the ball.
So now fourth down, let's see what they do here on fourth down.
Do they punt it away or try to go for it and keep the drive going to eat more time.
Time out.
North Gwinnett.
So North Gwinnett burns the time out.
We'll step aside with him with 612 to play in this game.

Continues to rain hard here, with 612 to play.
Raining harder as we go throughout the night.
That storm comes aboard along the Gulf Coast.
Of course, college football tomorrow going to be greatly impacted by this storm as it goes through the southeast.
And we're starting to get the first vestiges of it here tonight.
On this Friday night in Atlanta, so fourth down Alamo, time for North Gwinnett.
Last stand.
They jumped offsides and that'll give Brookwood the first down.
Good job.
Great execution right there of the offense.
Prior to the snap encroachment defense five yard penalty results in a first down.
You saw the offensive line rush up to the ball.
But then you also saw Gary Chapman go with the hard count.
Then the motion of Logan Nixon.
It really set up to be able to draw them off right there.
And that's exactly what they did.
So first and ten Brookwood at the 36.
Tycen gets the handoff comes to the near side and Tycen down to the 27 yard line.
Inside, inside, inside.
And then he shows you the ability to jump cut and get to the outside right there.
Good job staying in bounds, keeping the clock moving.
Been running a little gently, gently.
Right here in this second half.
Good job.
Is rated as high as the number 21 running back in the country in 2027.
Already committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks, his dad, D'Angelo Tycen, was a defensive lineman for the Georgia Bulldogs.
A lot of people thought the Bulldogs would have the inside track there, but we've.
As we've seen lately, you know, what your dad did doesn't necessarily count for much anymore, does it?
Yeah.
I mean, we've seen guys not follow in their dad's footsteps a lot.
Yeah.
The legacy thing seems like it has kind of fallen to the wayside.
That used to be a thing.
I don't think it's a thing anymore.
Copeland with the tackle on the play.
You see it with David Jacobs, who we saw Blessed Trinity.
His dad played at Georgia's dad's a coach on the staff.
He's committed to Ohio.
State.
Third down clock under 5 minutes left in regulation.
Tycen.
Two hard yards right there.
Godfree punching at the football and stare down.
Tycen didn't appreciate that.
Tycen looks like.
Hold on now hold that to.
Godfree next two Saturday games right there.
And that's just two Warriors going at it.
Two leaders in Tycen and Godfree.
Absolutely.
And you know with Tycen coach Nibert said look, his leadership has just been an absolute blessing.
He's just been a solid leader on this Brookwood team.
He holds guys accountable.
That's a great thing, especially when it's coming from you.
Expected out of the quarterback.
But when it comes out of the running back, it does grab your attention because it shows the dedication.
And that's how this team for me is built.
It's built through his ability to run the ball.
Time out and Gary Chapman ability.
To.
Feed off of that.
Yeah.
And it looks you can tell watch just watching this game you can tell he's got a great connection with his offensive linemen.
The Guardian crew as they are starting to try to call themselves as coach, Nibert said.
Uh, they started with the Guardian caps and now they see themselves as the Guardian.
The Guardian?
Yeah, they're they're going to be 7-1 They're going to be 3-1 in the region.
As we take a look at their schedule, that means they only have two games left in the regular season.
So they don't play again until October 30.
So they've got a couple of weeks off here late in the season.
And then they host Berkmar, and then they've got Peachtree Ridge on November six in the regular season finale.
And as you heard John tell you earlier tonight, Peachtree Ridge took an L for the first time in the region for the first time this season.
They had also been undefeated.
They lost to Norcross.
So you've got a jumbled up region standings where you've got four teams in the region with just one loss.
North Gwinnett, Brookwood, Parkview and Peachtree Ridge.
With a month to play Tycen on the fourth down, carry gets the first down and that should just about do it.
Get over there.
Behind that pick side.
McKenzie and Baltimore.
And I guess seems like McKenzie is the one who gets to decide where he wants to go.
He's the biggest Wright rightfully so.
I'm the senior.
I'm the biggest.
So just nothing left to do but grind out the rest of this clock for Brookwood.
What a win for the Broncos and head coach Chad Nibert.
They had gone 13-2 since they lost to the Bulldogs last season.
Even in our interview with coach Nibert, which is how he approached.
It was a good loss.
Yeah, that's how he referred to last week's loss in that game to Parkview.
A good loss like he he didn't want it, but he accepted it and knew how to use it to motivate his team.
Well, just as the Parkview seniors who beat Brookwood on the Broncos home field last week celebrated because they'd never beaten Brookwood before, these Broncos seniors have never beaten the Bulldogs, and now they get a chance to return the favor here against North Gwinnett on the Bulldogs home field.
Brown on the carry, bounces to the outside.
Derrick Brown down to the ten yard line, down to the 11.
So North Gwinnett by no means is their season over anymore than you know.
Brookwood was last week when they lost to Parkview.
Just gets a little bit more difficult.
You see.
Next up they got Peachtree Ridge.
Still got Norcross and a surging Parkview team in their regular season finale on October 30th.
So no telling what's going to happen in this region.
In the PSR rankings this week.
Brookwood is already ranked higher than North Gwinnett.
Brookwood was tenth in the seven a P sr and North Gwinnett was 12th.
Beau Brown carry down inside the ten clock goes under 2 minutes.
Only thing left to be seen is Brookwood going to put another touchdown on the board and put 50 on him.
Right here, just like they have the ability to get a first down without scoring and not typically how you want it to happen, but it would be a great thing for it to.
But right now they're just going to milk this clock.
Good clock management.
By Chapman.
Braden Tycen is out of the game.
Won't get one.
Healy Brown gets the hand off trying to get around the edge.
Brown inside the five.
Going to get stopped at the four.
Under a minute to go.
Brookwood about to be 7-1 on the season 3-1 in region 77 A and North Gwinnett will fall to 6-1 2-1 in the region.
That might have been the final play.
I don't know if they're going to run another here.
I think they're going to let it go down.
You can see Coach Nibert walking down.
He's going to let it milk down and call a time-out.
What a convincing win here for the Broncos tonight.
A huge win for head coach Chad Nibert might be their biggest regular season win since he took over as the head coach.
This is the second full season for him as the head coach.
He coached six games in the 2024 season.
Or the 2023 season as the interim head coach.
When Phillip Jones stepped aside for health reasons.
And the celebration is continuing and beginning and ramping up over there on that, Brookwood sideline, fans have sat through some pretty nasty weather tonight to celebrate a huge win.
Definitely have to tip your cap to those sitting.
It's been raining here at least since half time.
Umbrellas are out.
Well it was it was a it was a drizzle in the first half.
It started to come down pretty strong here in the second half.
What a performance by this Brookwood offensive line in this rush game.
And that's what you want when the rain's coming down.
287 yards rushing for Brookwood tonight against this North Gwinnett defense for 61 total yards.
Already have been crowned offensive line of the week.
A couple of weeks ago tonight living up to that standard.
Brown going to get to the end zone.
Touchdown 50 points for Brookwood tonight.
Don't know that anybody in the state could have foreseen this.
A 50 point night for Brookwood on what has been a stout North Gwinnett defense.
And that's their fourth fourth time this year hitting that 50 point mark.
So it's something.
But against this North Gwinnett team at their house has to be a great feeling.
No doubt.
Palma on for the p a t. And the snap gets picked up.
And the holder quick.
The holder which is the punter wisely gets out of bounds before he gets killed.
Jackson Lopez right there sprinting to the sideline.
He couldn't get there fast enough.
50-24 What a performance by the Brookwood Broncos tonight.
Massive win for this Broncos program.
And now it's anybody's guess who ends up winning region 77 a prior to tonight about 7:00 tonight you would have said you know, North Gwinnett is the team in the driver's seat.
Well, that's no longer the case.
Tough region.
Plenty of team, plenty of games, a lot of match ups that still have to happen.
Absolutely.
Between all these teams.
Parkview is in the mix.
Obviously Brookwood's in the mix.
North Gwinnett is still in the mix.
They're not out of the mix.
Peachtree Ridge is in the mix.
Paul Walton take it away.
Smith and Taylor are back.
So here is maybe the final play of the game.
Depends on how long it takes him to run out this kickoff.
There's just 10 seconds left.
And Palma line drive kick that's going to hit at the 20.
Bounce ahead and picked up at the 17 yard line.
And that is going to be the final play of the game.
It's official.
50 24 Broncos Knott fourth ranked North Gwinnett from the ranks of the unbeaten.
That is the first loss for North Gwinnett since the state semifinals last December, an emphatic, convincing victory by Brookwood.
50 24 the final and the Broncos are now 7-1 on the season.
They got a couple of weeks before they play again.
All about being able to run the ball.
In the first half it was on the legs of Braden Tycen, and in the second we saw his running mate, Gary Chapman get into it, pulling the ball out on the edge.
The explosiveness that he showed, uh, just a great physical Wynn just what Coach Nibert wanted his wanted his team to come out, strike first.
And that's what they did.
Physically dominating in this game up front on the offensive line.
Braden Tycen goes over 5,000 yards for his career, 31 carries for 160 2-2 touchdowns.
What year is this?
A running back with 30-1 carries in one game.
Yeah, old school football.
And coach Nyberg, who a former linebacker, you would expect that when you have a defensive minded coach.
They kind of get back to that old mentality.
And when you have a back with his size and speed, it, you're wrong for not giving him the ball at least 30 times a game.
So no telling what happens here in region 77 A over the final month of the season, after Brookwood just turned over the apple cart.
Fantastic win by the Broncos tonight.
And they are now 14-2 since the last time they played North Gwinnett.
I'd say there's been a dramatic turnaround in this program over the last 365.
Let's send it down to John for our New York style.
Johnny's Pizza interview with head coach Chad Nyberg.
Absolutely.
We will.
It'll be a hot change because we have both of our principals here.
But let me start with the head coach.
Dominant win tonight.
And it was the guys on the line that were clearing the path for guys like two, for just dominant across the board for you.
Yeah we didn't have a very good game last week.
We didn't have a very good showing.
We did a much better job doing our assignment and playing assignment football and getting it to this guy and handling our business.
And the other aspect of this is that you had folks that really weren't putting up a lot of numbers so far, contributing tonight.
So that goes to the balance and the depth that you have.
You know, it's like a catch here, two catches here for a season and then they're active in the in the offense.
And you know they had to account for them as well.
So you have more folks contributing tonight.
Yeah we definitely had a lot of players play.
We had a lot of the backups get some good playing minutes, which really mattered for that game.
I mean, we had when we had to have it and Braden had to be out.
We had two other backs that were still in there.
Both of them got a chance to score tonight.
Both of them got some some air time to be other people to see them.
They got some exposure, but they're good.
They're really good backs.
Just like Braden's a great back.
We'll talk to him in a second.
Congrats on the rebound.
We'll catch up with you down the road.
I appreciate it.
Tag in.
Okay.
It is time for the Georgia Cotton Commission player of the game.
Georgia Cotton Commission the natural choice for Georgia and our natural choice for player of the game.
So the hat is yours.
And the towel is yours.
Let me see if I can unfold this properly.
By the way, this stays with you.
This goes home with you.
So they're going to have to, you know, they're going to have to try and ask if they can wear it.
What was it like out there tonight?
First and foremost, let me ask you this.
North of 5,000 yards in a career, how does that feel?
How does that resonate with you?
Truly blessed.
Without God, I'm nothing.
So I give all the glory to God, all the glory to my teammates, because without them I wouldn't be able to do what I do.
All right, so let's talk about that offensive line for a minute.
You're north of 160 yards on the night from the line of scrimmage.
You also had the you had three scores.
What was it like out there for you, knowing that they were not having all those holes ready for you?
What was it like out there?
I just felt protected.
I knew they had my back and I had to have their backs.
Coming off of last week to come back and rebound for this week.
How special was it knowing that you're going from one rivalry game to another rivalry game, having the night that you did, having the night that they did, putting 50 on the board.
So when we come in on Sunday, we had a saying we can't leave without it and we ain't leaving without it.
Today.
And I think you did that, right?
Yes, sir.
See, man of few words, but a man of a lot of yards.
Our Georgia Cotton Commission player of the game north of 160 on the ground.
Goes to two for towel is his hat.
Is his helmet is his.
The win is Brookwood.
Uh, Matt, if you would please, please start talking for the rest of us down here because we're getting soaked.
All right, one down here.
We'll do that.
Nelly.
Wayne, how much fun was that for us tonight to watch?
All due respect to North Gwinnett, to watch a running back go for 31 carries, 162.
Just an old school type running performance here tonight.
Like you don't see very much any anymore.
Yeah, he definitely lived up to all the hype and what we thought we would get a dominant performance by him and a humble young man that has a bright future headed to South Carolina.
And you just feel like the Brookwood Broncos put everybody on notice.
If you wasn't really sure what was coming at you.
Yeah, now you are.
Now you are.
Yeah.
No doubt about it.
I mean, we haven't had an upset quite this big in a long time where a team that was ranked number four in the state and hadn't lost loses by 26 on their home field, just an outstanding performance by Brookwood tonight as they win it by a final of 50 24.
Be sure to join us next Friday night at 730 as we travel to South Georgia and the number six Valdosta Wildcats take on the ninth ranked Colquitt County Packers live from Moultrie, Georgia, and that'll be next Friday night at 730 right here on GPB.
Now, if you missed portions of tonight's game or just want to see it again, you can catch a full replay later this evening at 11:15 or in the coming week at gpb.org slash sports on demand.
Once again, the final 50 24.
As Brookwood wins big and knocks North Gwinnett from the ranks of the unbeaten.
And now for Wayne Gandy Jon Nelson Kevin Glenn Diamond and Aaron.
I'm Matt Stewart so long from Suwanee.

I have a state record and I did that last season for most goals in a single game, just 13.
Doesn't matter who you play.
Scoring that many goals is something that a normal player can't do.
It means a great player did that.
By the time you get to five or six goals in a game, they're starting to double you.
When you get into that teen mark, if you're going to hit that tenth goal, they're triple teaming you.
And it's not something that when they're triple teaming, you're either doing it nicely.
