2,500 students were given free backpacks and supplies to kick off the new school year.
Starting the school year off with a new backpack and supplies. The United Way gave away backpacks at Eaton Plaza in downtown Fresno on August 8th. 2,500 students were given supplies. Some families began lining up for the giveaway hours before it began. Families say they are grateful for the giveaway because back to school is a costly time of year.
