Rob Hansen explains the importance of this 725-acre wetland prairie -- an almost-vanished landscape that typified much of Tulare County before it was leveled and plowed. At this "Wilderness" preserve, wide grasslands and myriad vernal pools will continue to support tiny fairy shrimp, entombed spadefoots, multitudes of birds, and evanescent fairy rings.
