Each year on September 11th members of the community gather in Oakhurst to pay tribute to the lives lost during the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. The Patriot Day event is hosted by Sierra Tel and also honors Veterans and Emergency Services Personnel. Patriot Day was signed into law in December 2001; this event in Oakhurst has taken place since 2002.
