[upbeat folk music] [upbeat folk music continues] [upbeat folk music continues] - [Narrator] Finding the "Ireland in Music: Caithnin."
Welcome to our granular exploration of Irish music, culture and landscape.
In the next half an hour, we'll be traversing Ireland with some of our finest musicians, filmed in some of our most beautiful places.
In Temple Bar, Offaly, Donegal, Meath, and Fingal.
As we celebrate the musical mastery and beauty of our proud island of Ireland.
First, to the Bank of Ireland on College Green in Temple Bar where the Irish Parliament once sat and is now a working bank branch.
It's where we find Ailbhe Reddy playing from her amazing album, "Endless Affair."
- This next song is called "Shoulder Blades."

Today, it hosts Wallis Bird in unique collaboration with Caoi De Barra.
- This next song that I'm gonna play is, it's in support of migrants and in defiance of racism.
It's called "As the River Flows."
There was a picture in 2000 and wait...
It was seven years ago the other day of Alan Kurdi, the picture of the toddler on the beach that many of us will never forget.
And I remember people losing empathy over that little child.
So, this song is to say, "We're all people.
Let's take care of each other.
We never know when we are in a situation where we need help."
So, that's what this song is about.
"As The River Flows."

It's called, "I Dreamed I Was The Night."
And I knew the title of the song before I'd actually written the song.
'Cause I knew that I wanted to call the song and the EP "I Dreamed I Was The Night" 'cause I was inspired by this series of illustrations from this Mexican artist.
And yeah, it's kind of, I feel like it's the most like musically theater-esque kind of song I've ever written.
Like it's very loud compared to the rest of my music.
I feel like I'm kind of, I'm really kind of shouting a lot in that song.
It feels, 'cause I'm letting a lot out.
It's a very emotional song, but I feel a lot more vulnerable singing it this way because you can like kind of clearly hear what I'm singing about and I really get in my feelings when I'm singing it this way.
Yeah, I think I prefer this version to the version on the EP 'cause it's just so stripped back and it's really raw and I kind of, I feel like it captures the emotion that I was trying to portray in the EP, so.
[waves crashing] - [Narrator] When it was built in 1791, the Spire of Lloyd was a few days travel from the sea.
