New Jersey lawmakers are now sounding off after a politico N.J. investigation revealed the university's president, Monsignor Joseph Riley, knew about sexual abuse allegations on campus but didn't report them.
According to Politico, Democratic Congresswoman Mike Sherrill, who's also running for governor and represents the district where Seton Hall is located, called the report deeply disturbing and urged Seton Hall to address it by in part, publicly releasing all findings of their investigation and recommendations related to Monsignor Riley.
Now, a 2019 internal memo detailed an internal investigation at the school implicating Riley in the fallout of defrocked Cardinal Theodore McCarrick sexual abuse scandal that rocked the church all the way up to the Vatican.
Senator Andrews Wicker, who chairs the higher Ed Committee in the legislature, called on Riley and anyone who had knowledge of his conduct to resign, according to Politico.
No other federal lawmakers, legislative leaders or Governor Murphy would comment.
