The Camden School District blamed a $40 million budget gap for the planned closures.

The Camden school district is closing three elementary schools at the end of the school year. Superintendent Katrina McCombs cited a $40 million budget hole and poor building conditions for the closures, but union officials say it’s a move to drive more students out of public schools and into the surrounding charter and renaissance schools.
