(upbeat music) - Caring Connections, a hope and comfort in grief program is holding its annual Seeds of Remembrance event.
The theme, gifts of connection.
Director Katherine Supiano is here with more.
Hi, Katherine, it's always a pleasure to have you on, and it's spring, so it's time once again for Seeds of Remembrance.
- We approach Memorial Day, and that's our social invitation to invite grieving people to reflect on those they've lost and those they care about and turn their attention to those people.
- Yeah, and your theme, gifts of connections.
- Right.
We are connected with the people who've died for the rest of our lives, so grief never goes away.
But we can support it and we can invite people to make loving remembrances.
- Yeah, I liked what you said before we went on that grief is the taxes you pay for love.
- Right, exactly.
And when we lose people that we care deeply about, we want to foster remembrance.
We have an opportunity to have a wonderful speaker.
Her name is Molly Bice Jackson.
She's also our singer that evening.
But she lost her daughter in a catastrophic accident.
So she also will give us some guidance about how to remember in ways that are loving, but allow us to go forward in our lives.
- Yeah, yeah, and as you're always saying, people experience grief so differently.
There's no one right or wrong way.
- Right, and people try to hurry through it too much or our society, our culture hurries people.
So tonight, people can actually embrace their grief.
- Yeah, which is good, because it takes a while.
- It does, and it's so nice to have each other that evening too.
So it's a supportive evening, it's not threatening.
People are welcome, and everything's free and open to the public.
We're glad to be back in our own auditorium at the College of Nursing Building too.
So it's a coming home, I think, for a lot of people.
- Ah, that's great.
Well, Kathy, thanks so much for what you do, and-- - Thank you for letting me announce it.
I appreciate it.
- All right.
And if you'd like to know more about Caring Connections' upcoming Seeds of Remembrance, it's May 7th from seven to 9:00 pm at the College of Nursing on the university campus.
