But it's much more than that.
After the pandemic, we were seeing lots of folks who were needing, well, portable hygiene.
There's so many people that are living on our streets.
There are so many people who are camping who don't have access to showers, toilets or laundry.
We're here to help our friends and neighbors find a little dignity in ourselves.
Not all hope is gone.
You know, give people a chance to, you know, refresh yourself, refresh their clothes.
They've got, you know, towels, soap, everything that's needed to take a jar with.
Then we've got bags.
We can put their laundry in.
We've got the detergent to put in.
So it's everything that you would ever want as far as to be able to go and do your business.
And anybody knows that a good shower is going to make you feel 100% better.
I want them to feel better about themselves.
Let them know that someone does care.
I guess a lot of people just saying that because you're on the street that everybody just, you know, give up on your.
There's no hope for me.
There's always hope.
Just because you're homeless don't mean you're hopeless.
Don't mean you know, you've got to, you know, look down on yourself.
This, too, shall pass.
Having the dignity that people can come have.
Have lunch with our folks and find out a bit about the connection of services that they can have.
And that's why we are here at Goodwill.
Because I'm services.
Goodwill has the opportunity center open where folks can come have their take a shower, just hang out, have lunch, and then go on in there and see what opportunities there are to help them go from the streets to a home.
It's just a great relief to see, you know, people that come out of it, you know, with a fresh shower and clean clothes and things like that.
I mean, the things we take for granted every day and this is what they have.
Now, with.
This, you know, they get arrested because they use the restroom outside because they have no place to go.
So this isn't the total solution.
We know that.
But step by step, inch by inch, we're trying to bring the dignity and the love to the folks who usually think they don't count.
We say every person who is a recipient of this, who has a little dignity, who takes the next step to go from the street to the homes.
You can't put a price on that.
That's priceless.
Ginny Ramsey says they plan to add two more locations in the next few weeks.
The Lexington Rescue Mission on Glen Marvin and Central Christian on Short Street.
The day and times of each stop will be posted Mondays on the Catholic Action Center's Facebook page.
