(upbeat music) - Utah Symphony-Utah Opera presents a vibrant evening of music and culture for Hispanic Heritage Month.
Featuring a free outdoor festival and concert at Abravanel Hall.
Julia Lyon is here to share what audiences can look forward to.
Hi, how are you?
- Hi, Laura.
Thanks so much for having me on.
- Yeah, it's so great and welcome.
This job is fairly new for you.
- It is.
- And what a fun organization to work for.
- It's amazing.
So many concerts, performances of all different kinds throughout the year.
- Yeah.
And fall is especially busy for you as we have the new season starting.
But this is a special event- - That's right.
- that you've been doing since 2019.
Tell us a little about it.
- I know.
Isn't that great?
It's a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and really celebrating the richness of the many cultures here in Utah.
- What I love about this event is part of it is free and it's outdoors and it's this festival.
So, that happens at five o'clock?
- Yes.
Anybody is welcome to come to this festival.
It's on the plaza outside of Abravanel Hall.
There will be music, there will be dancing, there will be art to purchase, I believe, and food to eat.
- Yeah.
- And then at 7:00 pm there is a concert and we really wanna make this accessible to everybody.
Tickets start at $14.
- Wow.
- Yeah.
- Wow.
And it's family friendly?
- Super family friendly.
The whole event is family friendly.
The concert itself is a regular, it's approximately two hours, but it's a kind of concert where we encourage you to be engaged, to dance in your seat, to enjoy every part of the music.
- And it's not just music, you also have dancing.
- I know.
Isn't that cool?
- Yeah.
So, tell us about the performance group.
- So, Ballet Las Americas de Utah is a folkloric code dance group that will be on stage at the concert.
Performing pieces from Oaxaca, multiple pieces, while the orchestra is playing.
- How exciting.
Because it's so accessible, maybe people who've never been to that beautiful hall can come enjoy that space, 'cause it's so gorgeous.
Thank you.
- Definitely.
- Thank you so much for putting on this concert and letting our audiences know about it.
It sounds like a great time.
- I hope everybody comes.
It's a special night for folks who have been to the symphony and for those who have never been before.
- Great.
Thank you so much for being here.
- Thank you, Laura.
- If you would like to learn more about this great performance from Utah Symphony-Utah Opera Celebración Sinfónica, it's September 23rd at 7:00 pm, and don't forget, there's a free event at 5:00 pm out on the plaza at Abravanel Hall.
