Proposed policy comes after the district was recently sued in May by the family of a teen

Middletown School District is one of a handful of districts implementing a new cellphone policy, to restrict cellphone use while in school. Kate Farley, a parent and board member of the Middleton Board of Education spearheaded a new policy called “Away for The Day” which she says is more of a break from cellphone use, than a ban and is aimed at reducing classroom distractions and bullying.
