Historians and former market vendors take us back in time.
Designed to be the economic center of Columbus, Central Market was built in 1850 and rapidly became the model for other markets around town. It ran from 1851 until 1966. While residential homes sprang up around the market early on, the stick construction and constant traffic made the area an eyesore and the Mohawk neighborhood was eventually razed.
