Centrum is an artist community known for its residencies, its performances, and its week long workshops.
100 years ago, what stood here was a cannon.
This was a military base.
Today, what gets people excited is the arts community right over there called Centrum.
This is the balloon hangar, built in 1921 for military airships.
In the 80s it had a rather pivotal role in the film The Officer and a Gentleman.
Now it looks pretty different inside.
Let's check it out.

Today, This is the McCurdy .. And if you're looking for a more intimate venue, there's always the Joseph F. Wheeler Theater, named after the founder.
And also home to concerts, rehearsals, workshops and more.
The USO Hall is another building at Centrum, ho.. like the Polka Dot Dance.
If you're looking for a bit of inspiration or motivation along with the workshops, Centrum also comes with the beach.
So I guess what I'm saying is, if you come to Port Townsend and you see the sign, explore for the history, but also keep going up the hill and take a look at Centrum, because I think you're going to love it.
