A WWII soldier discussed his life and War experiences with his granddaughters.

George E. Eckstein served valiantly in WWII and won two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Medal, among other awards. His unit, the 112th Calvary received the Presidential Unit Citation Award for their bravery in the jungles of New Guinea and the Philippines. George Eckstein was a BAR, Bronte Automatic Rifle, gun man. Mr. Eckstein never fully recovered from all of his war wounds.
