Joey Smith returns to the Challenge Academy to mentor the next generation.

When he was a teenager, Joey Smith attended the Challenge Academy, a six-month reform school put on by the Wisconsin National Guard. Years later, he recommended the program to a colleague who had a son struggling in a similar way Smith had, and was eventually tapped to be a mentor in the program. “It feels good to give back,” Smith says. “The Academy has done a lot for me.”
