(audience cheering) Beahm Movies, you know what?
I've really been loving touring the South and you know why?
Because Burt Reynolds has made a movie in near every city we go to.
(audience cheering) There's two I could talk about.
I'm gonna start out with a movie that seemingly shot only maybe scenes here.
"Hooper."
Huh?
(audience cheering) Now there's a little movie in theaters right now called "The Fall Guy," but if you ask me, Hooper is my fall guy.
(audience laughing) It's a different movie about a stuntman.
I don't know that Hooper is solving a mystery.
I haven't seen "The Fall Guy," to be honest with you guys.
If it had Burt in it, I would've been there day one.
But RIP, you know.

(audience laughing) - Yeah.
I am Luther Manhole.
I play guitar in Chat Pile.
- I'm Raygun Busch and I sing.
- I'm Stin, I play bass.
- Captain Ron and I play drums.
- Yeah, so we, all of us are friends in real life prior to being in a band together.
So we all just, well me and Ron are brothers and then I've known Raygun for 20 plus years.
I've known Luther for 10 years or so.
But we used to have like kind of a bad movie night where we'd get together and watch like crummy movies and stuff.
And then eventually we were just like, "Hey, we should all play music together."
- Oh, Beahm.
Oh, I got one.
I got a good one for you.
A little movie, I think it's 1976, Bob Rafelson starring Jeff Bridges, Sally Fields and a young Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I'm talking about "Stay Hungry," y'all.
(audience cheering) A movie I'm shocked that Captain Ron, the King of 70's cinema has not seen.
But I can't wait for Captain Ron to watch "Stay Hungry" so we can talk about it.
You know Arnold, I think he was in "Hercules In New York" and then maybe like "Dillinger" or something.
So "Stay Hungry" might be his third movie, but really it's his first, you know.
(audience cheering) - hell yeah.
- So.

- I mean, when we first started playing we had no intention of even playing outside of Oklahoma where we're from.
So we did not really wanna honestly spend much money on it.
We're, you know, it's, and that's just one of the things, doing it yourself is just a much easier way to be in control of everything to not- - That's where we come from - Spend as much, yeah.
- Primarily.
- Yeah, it's just, you know.
- I mean I have tons of self recorded material than, the studio that we recorded in was a studio long before it was Chat Pile Studio, you know.
- It's at Stin's house.
- So he's always, they've always self recorded their band.
I've always self recorded my music and stuff.
- Yeah, and a handful of times that like we've tried to have other people do it, like, not necessarily with Chat Pile, but like other projects, it's just, you know, you spend money and then you have someone who has no idea what your vision for the sound is.
And so you have to try to like translate to somebody.
And that's not to say that like all engineers are bad or whatever.
It's just our experience of it has been so frustrating through the years that it just made sense to like put it into our own hands.
- Talladega, does that count?
- Yeah!
- Can it count?
Can it count?
Please?
- [Audience] Yeah!
- 'Cause one of my favorite movies ever is "Talladega Nights."
(audience cheering) I tell you what, the theatrical is about a three and a half, but the extended cut is a full five, baby.
(audience cheering) Now Luther Manhole is kind of a dissenter against "Talladega Nights."
- Boo!
- No offense.
No, don't boo him.
(audience member yells faintly) Everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
But "Talladega Nights" does rule.
I will say.
(audience cheering) "Don't you worry about my gun."
That's my favorite line in that movie anyway.
Anyway.

- Now, old Burt was back at it again and probably his least successful collaboration with Hal Needham, Hooper" being another one.
"Smokey And The Bandit" being the gold standard.
He came through Old Talladega Speedway or Raceway or whatever it's called.
Did "Stroker Ace," huh?
Yeah.
Nobody knows "Stroker Ace."
Well check it out.
It's part of your history.
I'm just a messenger.
"Stroker Ace" was on TV all the time when I was a kid.
I'm very familiar.

I'm influenced a lot by "The Wasteland," by TS Elliot.
And I really enjoy the way that he incorporates lots of random references and stuff.
And you have to be well read and well versed.
I mean, I'm like the lowest brow version of that, you know?
But like, I've always really liked the idea of just, I mean, I'm free to do whatever I want so I can make the narrator shift, but I don't know, it's fun to just do whatever I want.
You can do whatever you want when you write stuff.
So I don't know.
Forgive me, let me take a little detour down south in your state for a second.
Not a Birmingham movie, but Alabama has the great honored distinction of being a state in which a "Friday 13th" film was filmed.
(audience cheering) And happens to be one of our favorites.
Part seven, which is what's the, "The New Blood."

- That's right.
- Kane Hodder.

- Yeah, you?
- Go to hell man.

- Let's do a new one and then do "Beaches."
Is that cool?
- Thank you, we're listening, yeah.
- Yeah.
Let's do "Gone."
- Listen, listen.
