The Chicago Police Department denies U-Visa requests at a comparatively high rate.

A recent investigation by Injustice Watch finds the Chicago Police Department has been preventing undocumented immigrants who are victims of crime from qualifying to apply for temporary legal status. Under state and federal law, immigrants who are victims and cooperate with law enforcement are eligible to receive what's called a U-Visa - that gives them temporary legal status.
