Illinois has the second highest property taxes in the U.S

The political game of chicken between Gov. Bruce Rauner and Democratic lawmakers got even more heated this week as the two sides went toe-to-toe over the issue of freezing property taxes. Illinois has the second highest property taxes in the U.S., according to a report last year from the Urban Institute that examined data from 2007 to 2011. New Jersey has the highest.
