New rules were announced in an effort to reduce the number of unlawful border crossings.
Migrants would be denied the chance to apply for asylum if they cross the U.S.-Mexico border without authorization. The rules would expand the parole process for migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela and accept up to 30,000 people per month.
