Stephen Packard never got a degree in environmental restoration-- the field didn't exist when he graduated from college. Today he is credited with founding the restoration movement that changed the way public lands in the Chicago area are managed. He has also authored several books in the field including The Tall Grass Restoration Handbook, which is used as a text for in college courses today. E
