(cheerful music) - Chompers' Color Fun Run and Walk brings families together for a lively, colorful celebration of movement and wellness.
With color stations, crafts and snow cones.
This event highlights the joy of staying active for all ages.
Here to explain more is Kevin Schmidt.
Welcome, Kevin.
- Thanks so much.
- So tell me about this fun run.
How long has it been going on?
- So this is our second year doing the fun run.
This is an effort to do more community events in the area, and so, it's just a fun event for people to come and enjoy some health and fitness and some activities afterwards.
- Yeah, just like it says in the title and what so many runs happening around the summertime, sometimes people get stressed out and feel like they have to train in order to participate.
Is that the case with this run?
- Absolutely not.
This, anybody with any level can do it from little kids up to senior citizens, anyone can do it.
The route is 0.8 miles, and so you could do one loop, you can loop again.
If you did four loops, it would be around a 5K.
So we let people go as many times as they choose.
- And I know I asked you before the interview, who is Chompers?
I think we just saw a picture of Chompers on the screen.
That's the mascot, right?
- Yeah, Chompers' our our district mascot.
He's a shark.
We have a lot of pools at our facility and so he gets involved with pools, but also everything from a run to rock climbing and everything else, so.
- And one thing I love seeing was just the smiles on the kids' faces as they participated.
You guys have snow cones and all kinds of things outside of the run as well.
- Yeah, so after people choose to stop doing the run, then they can come to the pavilion and there's different activities.
There'll be balloon animals and face painting and snow cones, popcorn, and just games.
All kinds of activities for people to enjoy afterwards.
- All kinds of fun.
Well, thank you so much for being here.
