Like well, what's funny is that I got my first guitar and then three weeks later, I started going to church.
And a month later I was already playing at church.
And I didn't even know how to play, I was just like trying to follow the guy next to me and like try to play around with it.
So after that, I graduated high school and I went into music.
I studied music at APCC and then at UTEP.
(singing in Spanish) I've always written songs since I started playing, I was writing songs, but it was always like, oh, later I'll put my music out later.
I put it on the back burner and just let it rest there.
And then ever since 'til this quarantine happened when I was like, well, things just happen you know?
Like things got together.
And I put my first song out this year, February.
And people really, I guess they really received it very well so then now I'm here.
[in spanish] This next song is c American dream.
it's a very personal song that t my life.

♪ ♪♪ So, like when I was growing up, I actually didn't like this type of music that I'm playing now.
I thought it was like well, in my own word, in my own head, I thought it was ratchet.
Like, it was like Mexican music, you know?
But I'm from immigrant parents, here in El Paso, right?
So like at the same time growing up, it's not like I didn't, it's not that I didn't identify as a Mexican it's just that I didn't grew up over there.
So I didn't have all those like, like customs, and all those traditions within me.
It wasn't until I was older, like, well, the age that I am now, right?
That I realized, man, well, I'm not American, obviously.
(singing in Spanish) I'm not like American, right?
I'm not white, but I'm also not from Mexico, like Mexico, Mexico but in my blood in my veins runs Mexican blood, you know?
So like, I felt really identified with the music and that's what really made me feel like home.
It was like, maybe I do belong here.
Like maybe this is my culture, you know?
And it was with (speaking in foreign language) with Mexican music that I felt like I belonged somewhere.
So, that's how I started playing that music.
And obviously coming from immigrant parents, it reflects on my music, cause I want my music to be meaningful and not just about drugs and sex and all of that.
Music right now, especially (speaking in foreign language) in Mexican music.
It's, it's diversifying a lot, like a lot, like the last two years, it's just expanding.
It's becoming more global.
It will like with artists, like Bad Bunny singing, like Corridos, and then Karol G and then like a bunch of like different Latin artists.
And I also feel like, I feel like Mexican music by itself is like in a niche.
And like a lot of people are not open to it, because of like the traditional sound and all of that.
And I, and I feel like that's a way to like, just reach more people.
And again, especially like Hispanics and Chicanos here in, in the US there's a lot of them, that are in the place where I was, where they don't like, feel like they, they're Mexicans, because they grew up here and they, they probably don't even speak Spanish that well.
So I feel like, I'm reaching out to those people, to find their culture with a mix of, of, of that music, you know, getting the (speaking in foreign language) the tradition, the guitars and everything.
While mixing it with more than you were like trap raggaeton type of sound.
So that they can kind of get closer to their, to their culture.
(speaking in foreign language) And now we're going to invite over my friend Joselle, she was recently in a national competition, and she got to the final.
So we're gonna invite her over to sing another song with us.

Cause again, I want, I want my music to be meaningful, like in like, and I mean it, when I say that, you know, I, I'm not just trying to like be famous, like writing, like things that people will like to stuff like that.
If I ever get like the opportunity to perform in front of a big audience or for my music to be heard by a big audience, I want it to be meaningful.
And I want it to kinda, raise awareness of things that are happening, you know, especially within my society, you know, within my circle.
And we actually had a concert here, like in the middle of the mall.
For me, it was meaningful, cause it was like my first big concert or a big performance as a solo artist.
Like this is me, like, this is my music.

Like, this is not my life.
Like, and I've always been doing music, right?
So like, it was like kind of like a break from music.
And then I'm like, nah, I gotta do something else.
So I went back to school, and then I got this opportunity to start working here at SS9, Sound Stage Nine El Paso, and it opened a lot of doors, like musically, like, like a lot of opportunities that I've had, like with my single being released.
And then the album that I'm working on, it's just opened up a bunch of doors, like networking with, with artists.
Networking with different people from here, from El Paso that are in the music industry.
