City Council Committee Approves Gang Ordinance

Mayor Lori Lightfoot's controversial plan to sue Chicago gangs was passed by city council members today. In a 10-4 vote, the City Council’s public safety committee voted to pass an ordinance that will seize gang members’ assets. Last month, 50 attorneys along with the Office of the Cook County public defender urged the mayor to get rid of the ordinance.
