My name is Wu Han, and together with David Finckel, I am the artistic director of Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
We are excited to be sharing here on ALL ARTS a very special program by CMS, a performance from a tour we took to Taiwan in December of 2019.
While on that tour, we were fortunate to have one of our performance filmed by Kaohsiung Public Television at the gorgeous National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, Weiwuying, an amazing new venue that we have had the privilege to now visit multiple times.
This program, including violinists Arnaud Sussman and Paul Huang, violist Paul Neubauer, cellist David Finckel, and myself on piano, is an all-Russian spectacular featuring Rachmaninoff's Trio Elégiaque in G minor, the shorter of Rachmaninoff's two piano trios; Prokofiev's [indistinct] Sonata in D Major for Violin and Piano, and the lesser-known but stunningly composed Piano Quintet of Sergei Taneyev, who was a student of Tchaikovsky's and the teacher of Rachmaninoff and Scriabin, among others.
We want to thank our partners, the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, Weiwuying, the Bach Inspiration Music Hall and and Cultural Association, for the opportunity to perform in such an inspirational place and for making this recording for us to share with all of you.
