Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- [ASL Translator] I just wanna say, hi Gloucester.
I really miss you.
I miss all the Popeye's and fishermen out there.
I'm just so grateful for the entire community of Gloucester and their support to make our film happen.
Without you, I wouldn't be here today.
So I feel like I owe you guys something.
Me and Daniel and the cast, we're planning on visiting Gloucester soon to celebrate.
And we're gonna bring our Oscars to share and celebrate with you all in Gloucester.
I've received all these video messages from deaf folks that I used to work with, deaf actors and deaf children who I taught in my workshops, and all these short video snippets and supportive messages, and really, it's been so touching.
I feel so blessed and of course, extremely proud.
It feels like there's a great energy, a great positivity, that finally Hollywood's accepting a new perspective.
And of course I'm excited.
- [ASL Translator] When all this happened, the first thing I thought about, is this is for the deaf community, like Troy said, it's for all of you, everyone.
It's for all the kids watching us and seeing us win, so they know that they can do whatever they want to do.
It doesn't matter if they're deaf or not.
Just like what happened to me when I was a kid.
I'm from Duluth, a small town in Minnesota, and I saw Marlee win an Oscar at a young age.
So I thought I could do it.
And now here I am.
I wanna say I miss Gloucester.
I love you guys.
It's such a beautiful small place and I love how everyone knows each other.
And it's so special.
There's not many towns like that.
And they're always in my heart.
And I look forward to coming back to Gloucester and going back to Patty's Bar and drinking with them.
