It saves lives as we welcome you to Markham Field at Millcreek Community Stadium in Houston for the first round of the 6-A state playoffs as the eighth ranked Colquitt County Packers, who traveled north from Moultrie to take on the Mill Creek Hawks.
And good evening, I'm Matt Stewart, joined by former Auburn Tigers All-American NFL first round draft pick in 15 year pro Wayne Gandy and Wayne got a great North South matchup here tonight.
As these two teams are meeting in the state playoffs for the third time in their two histories, and Packers head coach Sean Calhoun said he feels like this is a quarterfinal caliber matchup.
And we tend to agree with him.
It should be a fantastic game.
Colquitt County came a long way to play this game, but both teams are fresh with the bye, and when you look at them, they're going to lean on their defense and try to get the run game going.
Colquitt County 8-2 overall.
They finish 4-1 in tough region one.
They finished in a three way tie for first, so they are Cole region champions.
But they lost out in the tiebreaker with Lowndes and Valdosta and Cody Chaffins will have more on that story in just a moment.
But their offense has centered around their four star running back Jay Lamar, who's committed to the Georgia Bulldogs, was suspended for three weeks during the season.
But he's back and he's a real difference maker.
Yeah, four star Georgia running back.
That kind of lets you know his skill set.
This young man six feet, 205 explosive already has 400 yard games, even missing some time.
13 touchdowns.
He's a home run hitter.
They got to get to him early and get into his legs and stop him.
Defense on the back end.
Alphonso McNeil has been a playmaker for the Packers now for a couple of seasons.
He's committed to Tuskegee.
This young man, he doesn't hit all the measurables, but he is the definition of their defense on that back end, he's asked to cover a lot of ground in a three, five, three defense.
He leads the team in solo tackles.
He's going to have to make some plays in the box tonight.
Now the story with Mill Creek 7-3 on the season.
And they went 5-1 in tough region eight losing out to Buford.
The team that beat him 35-3 two weeks ago right before the bye.
In fact, they're two.
Two of their three losses have come to top ten region champion teams, North Gwinnett being the other.
They also lost to Norcross this season.
And this is a team that was very young at the start of the season, but have put things together and their offense also centers around their running back.
Jade Beasley, who's the son of former Auburn Tigers standout and NFL veteran Fred Beasley.
Matt.
He is the offense this young man has over 1,000 yards.
They rely on him to make the big play.
He averages 6.3 carry.
He's shifty, he's elusive, likes to get the ball to the outside, make it a foot race.
They're going to have to get him a lot of touches.
He's going to have to have a great individual effort tonight.
And on defense, they have a 66 linebacker who looks like an all state basketball player because he is Braxton Rembert, who is committed to Wake Forest.
The alpha of the group.
He's long.
It's hard to get the ball over him.
At 66.
He has nine sacks on the season.
He can rush the passer.
He's going to have to be physical in the box.
Even at six, six, 200 pounds.
Yeah.
Mill Creek and Colquitt County should be a lot of fun.
Third member of our team tonight is Cody Chaffins.
He's down on the sideline.
Ten team like Colquitt County end up on the road in the first round of the playoffs.
It all had to do with a three way tie atop region one.
Valdosta, Lowndes and Colquitt County each had beaten one of the other, and so there was a three way tie.
Head to head was out the window.
The tiebreaker went to the least points allowed against other playoff teams in region one, Valdosta won in that stat category.
Therefore, they are the one seed and then Lowndes with a head to head victory over Colquitt County, took the two.
And that is how, for the first time since 2017, the Colquitt County Packers are hitting the road.
A four hour trip for round one of the playoffs.
And although head coach Sean Calhoun won't talk about this, there is a potential that if they can survive this week, they could be back in Gwinnett County a week from now, taking on the number 2 team in the nation in the Grayson Rams, Grayson taking on Norcross tonight.
It's one of the many games that John and Nikki back in our GPB studios are keeping their eye on.
John.
Nikki.
We had to wait an extra week this year, but that third season is finally here.
It's finally here.
Cody and we are so excited!
John and I will be holding down the studios now.
John Cody mentioned a little bit of math.
We're going to have a whole lot of math and a whole lot more coming up in our halftime show.
247 teams chasing after eight championships at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
We even have our first final on the board.
Kings Ridge advances over North Cobb Christian hit the QR code.
You get to find out all the scores, all week long, all game long.
It's all yours.
We'll send it back to Houston to Matt and Wayne.
What do you think?
Patton Mideau.
John.
Nikki.
Thanks.
And we are just moments away from the opening kickoff.
Please go to the QR code screen on the on your screen right now.
And pick the winner of tonight's game between Colquitt County and Mill Creek.
Vote right now by taking a photo of that QR code right now, and we are just moments away from the opening kickoff.
Wayne Mill Creek and Colquitt County.
It'll be interesting to see how these two teams react after having that bye week that Cody was referring to.
Josh Lovelady, of course, in his seventh season as the Hawks head coach, 66-20 led this program to a 2022 state championship.
We all remember that Caleb Downs, Josh Allen, Cole Mullins, Aiden Banfield team what a spectacular, fun team that was.
Yeah, Caleb Downs just mesmerized us that season.
What he was able to do on both sides of the ball was just great.
And he's taking it up to Ohio State and doing big things there.
And he had a recorded message here for the crowd right before the game here tonight.
There's Sean Calhoun in his fourth season, 21-8 three region titles actually four if you count the region championship this year.
And they got to the 2022 state semifinals, 2023 quarterfinals.
Younger, more experienced, inexperienced team last year got knocked out in the second round and looking to advance here tonight.
Mill Creek will be kicking off the Colquitt County and the opening kickoff is presented by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, reminding you Park your phones while you're driving.
It saves lives and we are underway with a little pooch kick in the no man's land down the field, and it's going to go out of bounds at about the 32 yard line.
Nice job there.
By Gavin Henderson letting that ball bounce.
He ran over there and make sure it was going out of bounds.
Great field position here to start this game here for Colquitt County.
And Colquitt offense is led by Cohen Lawson six foot, 185 pound sophomore.
Offense will take the ball at the 35 first down.
So they'll move the ball up to the 35 yard line.
Since the ball went out of bounds.
And that's where Cohen Lawson will bring the Packers out on offense.
He's already a second year starter, had good numbers this season, 17 touchdowns and just four interceptions.
Yeah, coach Calhoun has a lot of confidence in this young man.
And where he can take this team tonight.
And in the future.
He's good at protecting the ball a good touchdown to interception ratio.
Just a good game manager right now is Lawson.
Right at 166 yards per game.
He's completed 60% of his passes.
Coach Calhoun would like to get that number up around 70%.
Stevenson lines up in the backfield next to Lawson.
They're going to go to the air on the very first play.
They're going to send it deep down the field.
And it's caught by Walker at the 34 yard line.
Big play right off the bat for Colquitt County.
As Lawson finds Malik Walker his senior wide receiver.
Just a 50 50 ball.
Great protection stepping up in the pocket just putting some air and a great adjustment by Walker coming underneath the safety Caleb Zalewski.
Great job adjusting.
Going up to the high point and bringing in that ball is Walker.
25th catch of the season for Walker who came in at 20:04 for 292.
And Lawson on the sprint out going to run it himself, going to pick up the first down at the 24.
Keeper.
Young man shows a lot of poise right here in the pocket.
Good job.
Little rollout.
Bootleg open space.
Taking advantage of the defense getting wet and getting out of bounds.
Let's take a look at the impact.
Players are brought to you by.
After this next play we'll take a look at the impact players brought to you by Breda Pest Management.
First and ten ball at the 24 yard line.
J Lamar now in there.
He'll get the first carry of the game.
Going to change his direction J Lamar down inside the 20.
Picks up five on the play.
Although he ran about 25 yards to get the five.
Gets down to the 19 yard line.
Now how about the impact players brought to you by Breda Pest Management.
Lockette a deep threat with great hands down the field.
Aldridge double eight football IQ.
The Swiss Army knife and for Mill Creek on defense Eli Richards headed to Air Force, leads the team in tackles and went old school physical linebacker in the middle.
Leads the team in TFLs.
Second down and five.
Handoff goes to Stokes and Stokes crashes down to the 16 yard line.
Tackle made by Isaiah Taylor.
Makes the tackle.
Going to bring up third down and short for the Packers.
This Packer offense is patient.
Is going to try to run the ball.
Stay in third and short.
So Cohen Lawson doesn't have to make a lot of big throws.
Just manage the game right there.
Third and two great down here to run the ball here with Stephenson.
Packers already in business here inside the 20 yard line.
And the keeper by Stephenson.
And Stephenson's forward progress.
Going to pick up the first down at the 14 yard line.
So they've used all three running backs here on this opening series.
They feel like Jay Lamar is a guy that when you let him divide the carries, he's just more explosive.
And right now Stokes Stephenson making an impact, relieving him.
And this is that pace that this Colquitt offense likes to play with.
Packers inside the Alfa insurance red zone.
So first and ten at the 14 yard line.
Lamar back in there at running back going to fake a hand off to him.
And pass is batted down by Rembert.
And then we're going to have a penalty and unsportsmanlike penalty on Colquitt County.
As it looked like Jamal Jackson lost his cool.
Outstanding job there by Rembert.
We talked about him in the open right here.
Just pushing the pocket off the edge, working underneath Jackson getting that long arm up, batting the ball down and just right there losing his cool Jamal Jackson the right tackle.
So just in his emotion right there.
Lost the block.
The guy bats the ball down.
And then you you cost your team big.
Personal foul offense 15 yards from the previous spot.
The down counts second down.
So that's going to be a real killer because the down also counts.
So that's going to back him up 15 yards.
Jackson known for his aggression.
One of those guys he likes to get at it.
But right there just a bonehead play that you just can't not make at that time.
But a good job.
As we talked about, Braxton Rymer three star headed to Wake Forest.
And he might need to get used to playing off the edge.
When you talk about 66 and the length that he had and we saw before the game.
Yeah, he doesn't look like a linebacker.
He looks like a defensive end going to fake a handoff.
Lawson tosses in the middle and it's caught by Ruffin the tight end.
And he gets it all back down to the 14.
Nice job there by Ruffin to go up and get that ball a little wobbler right there.
Getting it out there as Lawson.
Good route.
Just finding that soft spot in the middle of the field.
Pressure once again in his face off the edge by the defensive end.
But a good job of getting the ball off and a nice adjustment by Ruffin.
To catch it.
That was a guy who came up and made the tackle.
So now it's going to be third down and ten from the 14.
Looks like we have a time-out called by the Packers.
Time-out.
Colquitt County hey don't forget to visit Buffalo's Cafe.
Time out on the field.
Our first of the night.
We'll step aside as these teams talk about it.
Third and ten coming up.
Football Fridays in Georgia is presented by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, reminding you to park your phone while driving.
Saves lives.
Heads up, Georgia.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh, hey.
What's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket.
And you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.
So why would you drive a car while distracted driving isn't a game when you lose on the road, it could lead to a crash.
So when you get behind the wheel, put the distractions aside, drive hands free, and save lives.
Heads up Georgia Georgia.

Back at Mill Creek.
Third and ten coming up for Colquitt County.
They've driven from their own 35 following the opening kickoff to the 14 yard line.
Now facing a third down and ten.
Let's see if they can totally redeem themselves after that big 15 yard personal foul penalty a few moments ago put him behind the sticks.
It looks like they were going with a little wildcat formation there with Lamar at quarterback.
Going to keep it on the ground.
I don't expect that he to throw the ball, but it's been a week off.
Matt.
They might have had added a little package in there just for this playoff game.
But a big penalty to overcome.
And right now third and long for this team.
Just a down and distance they don't like to be in.
Yeah it'll be interesting to see across the state how many teams put in a wrinkle and maybe a wrinkle that wins a game for him tonight with that extra week off between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs.
So Stevenson now goes in motion.
Empty backfield set for Lawson on a straight drop back.
Fires in the middle.
And it's going to be incomplete.
Broken up back there by Herder as they tried to go to Walker.
On the coverage.
Herder is kind of there Mr.
Everything on offense defense and special teams.
Great pocket here to throw from right here.
Survey the field.
Nice route to get behind and just got to catch that ball right there.
If you're Malik Walker the senior good route getting behind the safety.
Just got to bring that ball in.
But good protection good throw.
Just got to make that catch.
So Josh Scroggins on for a 32 yard attempt from the left.
Hash the punter Walker Lanier is the holder.
And the kick is going to be no good.
Josh Scroggins who's had a good season kicking the ball.
He was eight of nine prior to that kick.
Right.
There was nowhere close.
And so Colquitt County comes up empty.
You got to believe that personal foul penalty played a big part in them coming up scoreless.
Let's send it down to Cody Chaffins.
All right a good turn of events for the home team.
Mill Creek and our partners at Cigna.
Happy to present a $1,500 check to Mill Creek Travis Taco the ad here.
It's good to be in playoff football.
Yes, sir.
Thank you guys for being here.
Incredible atmosphere.
Go, Hawks.
Yeah, our friends at Mill Creek and our friends at Cigna making this check possible.
Thank you Cody.
Back to live action here.
As Mill Creek goes on offense for the first time tonight.
And their sophomore quarterback Anderson Ragon going to play action and fire right in the middle.
A bullet that's going to be caught by Hamilton.
And a first down at the 36.
Nice route there by Devin Hamilton.
The three star right there.
Beautiful job.
This young man Anderson Ragon the great possibility in a couple of years we might be talking about top quarterback in the state right there with the strong arm getting that ball in there to Hamilton.
He certainly has the measurables and also the the DNA the genes to go with it.
His dad Dave Ragon, is currently the quarterback coach of the L.A.
Rams.
Hand off goes to Beasley.
He gets stonewalled at the line of scrimmage and driven back.
That was Braden Lewis there.
Mike linebacker and leading tackler, making the first of what will no doubt be many stops for him tonight.
Yeah, big time penetration there by Camden Gay.
The nose tackle.
We got a couple of guys on this offensive line for the Hawks.
Their first start the center right there.
Just trying to take on that big body of gay inside.
But that kind of penetration sets up well for these linebackers to make plays.
Yeah that last game of the season against Buford was very costly for them.
For an injury standpoint.
They lost their tackle Tyson Murphy as well.
And the ball is out on the turf.
And Ragon goes back to get it but takes a big loss at the 16 yard line.
As we take a look at your Breda Pest Management impact players Breda Pest Management the official pest control of high school football.
Carson Herder just a young man that's has to do some of those.
Caleb down type plays.
Hamilton already making an impact with a big catch for Colquitt County.
Ruiz the linebacker just a physical guy in the box and gay already showing you the kind of penetration he brings up front.
So third down and long.
Now for the Hawks delay.
Handoff goes to Beasley.
And Beasley.
Actually that's going to be tuck Nick tuck getting the early carry right there up to the 32 yard.
Line.
Nice job.
Patient on that draw.
Just when you talk about third and forever just a hard play right there.
Just laying up Coach Lovelady just trying to get better field position to punt.
So Carter Jackson on the punt for the Hawks.
And it's a beauty.
Sending Fuller all the way back to the 30 yard line.
He lets it hit and it's going to be downed at the 28.
So Carter Jackson does a really good job of flipping the field right there.
After they nearly had a disaster on that ball that was loose, deep in their own offensive backfield.
And after two drives, you feel like both of these teams, they're going to rely on their defenses here early on to try to win this field position battle, try to keep the ball on the ground.
And you can already see in that first set of downs the offensive line issues for Mill Creek.
So first and ten for Colquitt County as they go on offense for the second time tonight at 21 yards rushing and 45 yards passing on their opening drive, but came up empty on the missed field goal.
Stephenson gets the handoff and Stephenson gets swallowed up right there at the line of scrimmage.
That was Rembert again on the tackle.
As we take a look at tonight's starters delivered by Johnny's New York style pizza.
Your original neighborhood pizzeria Calhoun McCarter Yuengling Thomas and Jackson McCarter I should say.
And Jackson up front.
And then Jay Lamar, the running back, Lockette Walker and Aldridge, the wide receivers and Aj Barge is the tight end.
Although we've already seen Colquitt County's played multiple players in the running back spot and in the tight end spot tonight.
Lawson on the sprint out going to throw.
His man slipped down Aldridge.
Did he make the catch.
Looks like he did make the catch.
Even though he slipped down.
And so it's going to be up to the 34 yard.
Line.
Right there Aldridge slipping.
But having enough ability to get up and make this catch right here.
Just a little roll out.
Get it out on the edge to AA and did a good job of getting that forearm underneath the ball there.
As Aldridge.
Aldridge six foot 160 senior.
He's also their back up quarterback.
And now it's going to be third down.
Lawson fires in the middle.
It's going to be caught.
First down by Lockett at the 42 yard line.
You take a look at the Johnnie's New York style pizza defense for Mill Creek.
Richards Walker Schneider and Taylor up front.
Camurati Rembert Wendt and Backus in the linebacking corps and in the secondary.
Barnes, Herder, Zalewski and Manoa.
They returned only one starter from last year's defense, so they had some rebuilding to be done.
As we talked about in the open, they were young, very immature, from an inexperienced standpoint, cost him in that loss against Norcross in the second game of the season.
Defense.
Five yard penalty.
First down.
Coach Lovelady says they played like the Bad News Bears that night.
And I love Coach Lovelady.
And he wasn't using anything you injury as an excuse.
He felt like his team has a chance.
They're building, they're learning.
They're getting that experience and he feels like they are capable of coming out here and winning tonight.
So following the penalty, it's going to be first and five from the 47 yard line.
Doing a good job so far.
Getting the ball out quick with Lawson out on the edge.
Testing this defense.
One of the keys for Mill Creek.
Can they tackle in space.
That's Lamar in motion.
They fake the handoff to him.
And Lawson going to keep it and lunge forward to the 48 yard line.
That was Brady Wendt making the tackle for the Hawks.
Going to bring up third.
Down.
Brings up second down.
Or second down.
Pardon me.
It was a first down following the penalty Lawson carried the ball a couple of times.
Now he's four of six passing for 58 yards.
Yeah a little quarterback draw there.
Keep it on the ground.
Let the young man make some plays.
He's durable.
He's tough.
He's one of those gamers that he's just so mature to be a sophomore.
And they're going to lean on him here tonight.
They really threw him to the fire last year.
He had to start as a freshman.
And so the bumps and bruises they took last year at the position has paid off for him.
This year.
It's caught by Walker.
Let's see where they're going to spot that.
He's close to the sticks.
Going to be a little bit short as he comes down with it at the 49 yard line.
Once again a little rollout.
Get out the pocket for loss.
Just a little high on the throw here out on the edge to Walker giving the defenders enough time as he bobbles the ball and then brings it in to come over and keep him short of the sticks.
Walker is fast.
He's a very good intermediate route runner for them and that was exactly what he ran right there.
It's going to be third down and one.
Showing pressure here of the Hawks defensively.
Got to keep your eye on Rembert off the edge.
He can make a lot of plays.
Running him down.
Lamar gets the handoff gets the first down Lamar down to the 42.
That was Rembert in on that tackle again.
Rembert Steen been called a lot already tonight Lamar gets the first down.
Nice block up front there by Kaden Calhoun.
The big left tackle.
Just keeping the pile moving McCourt there at left guard falling forward.
Footwork there by Lamar to get that first down.
Sean Calhoun says he is shocked that Kaden Calhoun doesn't have any offers right now.
He's a 65 approaching 290 senior.
Yeah big guy out there.
Eats up a lot of space.
Very tough guy.
That should get another look and a better looks for the next level.
Yeah.
Long throw out there to Walker.
And he comes up with it.
Seemed like that pass was out there a really long time.
That was a long throw by Lawson right here.
Walker comes down with it short of the first down.
Good protection.
Good job of getting that ball over Rembert.
And you can see right now they're going to test these DBS, these corners and see if they can tackle getting the ball out on the edge.
Stop routes and just going to test and see if they can make tackles out in space.
Second down and one Lawson going to the air again.
He's going deep.
And it's going to be incomplete.
Trying to get the ball to Walker in the end zone.
Walker's been his favorite target so far tonight.
But it was broken up by Jayden Barnes.
Good route there a good throw by Lawson's as well Jayden Barnes really never got his head around on this play.
But reading the eyes and gets that left hand in there late to knock that ball out of Walker's hand.. Brings up third down and one.
So you saw they go for the shot right there on the second and short knowing they still come back at third and one on the next play.
Going with heavy package.
You can see the big bodies in the backfield.
It's basically their defensive line in there.
And Lamar going to take the direct snap and follow those big bodies and pick up the first down.
And more than that still on his feet all the way down to the 29 yard line.
Make it the 19 yard line.
That's going to be a first down for the Packers.
Nice job right there by the D line.
Getting the first down.
Big bodies in the backfield paving the way knocking guys out Judy right there 99 kicking people out.
And then as you know when you talk about J.J.
Lamar all he needs is a little crease and falling forward.
Getting a big chunk of yards, putting his team inside the 20.
So first and ten ball is sitting at the 19 yard line.
Stevenson now in the game at running back.
And he'll get the hand off from Lawson.
And he'll get swallowed up right away by Eli Richards.
Eli Richards Eli.
Richards.
Air Force commit high motor guy.
The strongest player on this Mill Creek team.
61, 270.
Leads the team in tackles, 54 tackles from that D-end position.
11 TfL, a couple of quarterback sacks.
He's even blocked a punt.
Got that old school.
That neck roll just looks like a D lineman, doesn't he?
Yeah.
Second down and nine getting late in the quarter.
Play action Lawson fires.
It is complete.
And that is going to be down to the 1 yard line.
And Alexis Aj Barge makes his first catch of the season late here in the first quarter.
Six for 225 senior offers by Bethune and Tuskegee.
Working again just running a seam route right there.
Nice find.
Good protection for Lawson.
Nice find there to barge.
And that's one of those wrinkles you were talking about.
Not one stitch of tape of him catching the ball during the regular season.
Makes a big catch here in the first.
Quarter.
Wide low package in the backfield.
A lot of defensive linemen in there.
Lamar gets the handoff and Lamar struggles to get into the end zone and does touchdown.
Colquitt County.
Go ahead running after contact.
Just hard to bring down a guy like Jay Lamar in this kind of situation.
Just running behind his line right there.
Look at those big bodies kicking out right there.
Good block by his right tackle Jamal Jackson and just fighting and pulling himself into the end zone is Lamar.
16th total touchdown 14th rushing for Lamar this season.
And Scroggins on for the P.a.t.
7-0 Colquitt County is Lamar gets him in the end zone.
Caps a nice drive as the Packers have the lead late in the first quarter.

Back in Houston, where Mill Creek has fallen behind, Colquitt County 7-0 Following a 12 play, 72 yard drive, took 6.5 minutes off the clock, the DBHDD and the new red red red ribbon 365.
Curriculum.
Scoring drive.
A 7-0 lead for the Packers here with 5 seconds left in the quarter.
Barnes and Juneau back to receive the kickoff.
Parks Scroggins set to kick it off.
Kick coming down at the 12.
Up to the 25.
And that's where the Hawks will go in business here to start the second quarter.
When we get back 12 minutes in the books.

I've been checking food labels for years.
I like to buy local and I like to buy healthy for my family.
So I started checking the labels on our clothes too.
Did you know synthetic fibers like polyester are pretty much made of oil?
No thanks.
I look for cotton now, which grows right here in Georgia, a major source of the world's cotton.
Cotton is natural, renewable, sustainable, and buying cotton supports Georgia farmers.
Good enough for me and my family.

Park your phone while you're driving.
It saves lives.
Send it down to Cody.
On that 12 play drive for Colquitt County.
We saw Alexis Aj Barge get the catch.
Get down to the one Alexis Barge, one of the best nicknames on this team.
They call him juicy.
Sean Calhoun, the Colquitt County coach, said we are the nickname capital of the world.
I'll give you some of the other ones.
Mark Kirby, our Mark Graham, they call him Pee-Wee Malik.
Alexander Mosquito, Alfonzo McNeil, a name you guys will be calling a lot tonight.
Collin Black and Ryan Sumlin, the wide receiver.
Just call him Bobo.
So there you go, Matt Wayne.
You can just go with the nicknames from now on.
Absolutely.
Wayne, what was your nickname?
G-Man.
G-Man G-Man.
Matt Stewart along with G-Man here with you at Mill Creek tonight for the playoffs.
We're going up top and it's caught by Huerter.
Huerter dragged down at the 31 as the Hawks strike deep into Packers territory.
Now some of that arm strength we talked about with Ragen right here.
Good pocket.
Great job adjusting to the snap.
Beautiful throw here down the field to Huerter.
And you feel like Huerter and Hamilton.
They're going to have to make these kind of chunk plays for this offense.
When they get the opportunity they're going to have to make the plays.
And that young man right there Carson Huerter can do it for them.
His team leading 30th catch of the season came in with 505 yards receiving for the 510176 senior.
Handoff goes to tuck and tuck down to the 28.
Penetration again there by the Packers in the backfield.
Tuck having to adjust as he was handed the ball just nowhere to run.
Right there up front.
Big wide bodies here for Colquitt up front on that defensive line.
You're talking about cam gay 510 2:55 time here.
Moore 63, 237 nice and Judy six feet, 262 80.
You're right.
Some big wide bodies up.
Front showing a four man front right now as Graham stepped up there, that outside linebacker, he steps up on that line.
You can see he's got the big helmet on.
They gave him the Guardian cap.
Helmet number 10 McKenzie Graham.
Because to protect himself from knocking himself out he was hitting guys so hard he was a danger to himself.
Offense five yard penalty.
Still second down.
And that is a thing Matt.
There are some guys that they're wired differently and they're okay knocking themselves out trying to deliver a blow.
62, 185 junior a couple of offers, including Mississippi State.
Yeah, just picked up his first SEC offer here in the last week.
He's got four offers Georgia State, Marshall and app have also offered him second down.
Gregory to the air and nearly caught out there on the edge and couldn't come down with it.
That was Wint, who came out of the backfield and running the route.
As we take a look at the Mill Creek Hawks on offense, brought to you by Johnny's New York style Pizza Hill and Brevik up front.
First time starters here tonight because of the injuries you got the Hillman twins.
They're big boys and Hawkins they're that quick tackle position.
Then Beasley the running back.
Huerter Hamilton and Alvarez the wide receivers and Landon Williams who's 67, 225.
Looks like Josh Lovelady went to basketball practice and recruited the basketball team.
Right.
Can't play on the basketball team if you can't make a commitment to the football team.
Heavy rush.
Goes down.
Quarterback sack.
And that was Mackenzie Graham and his big helmet coming down with the tackle and the sack at the 41.
Jailbreak up front right here.
Graham from that linebacker position a little late dog coming late.
Just did not see him as rat gone right there.
Big hit on the quarterback by Graham.
Graham with his 4.5 quarterback sacks now on the season right there.
And it stops the Mill Creek Drive.
And they'll punt.
Carter Jackson standing there and gets it out of there.
Big high punt that's going to bounce in the end zone.
And so that'll be a touchback.
And Colquitt County will get the ball at the 20 yard line.
Missed opportunity on that wheel route to went down the sideline.
Couldn't come up with the play.
And then the big defensive stop there bringing the pressure on that third down.
Graham pushing him back on the field forcing this punt.
Is Colquitt team right now.
Seems like they're finding their groove a little faster than Mill Creek.
After a week off.
We do have a flag down on the field.
Let's check the call.
Holding receiving team 10 yards from the 21st down and ten from the ten.
So that'll put him at the ten yard line.
You see the disappointment there in the face of Shawn Calhoun.
It's going to be holding on the Packers.
Colquitt county's offense has doubled up mill Creek to this 0.7 first downs to the Hawks two and 133 yards to the Packers.
The Packers won 30-3 to the Hawks 50.
When you look at this offense, a lot of different people contributing for the Packers so far, good protection up front.
And Cohen Lawson right now in this receiving corps are connecting and making plays out on the edge.
Yeah including Lawson.
They've had ten guys touch the ball so far in this game.
So.
It doesn't matter.
So Douglas Helling was over there visiting on the Colquitt County sideline.
Let's see if he tells us what it's all about.
Okay.
So the.
Getting his steps in before he.
Does that he's made a complete circle.
He has.
I don't think he's going to say.
Anything.
They're marking it off.
They now they're marking it off to the ten yard line.
Johnny Cole Kidd is half the distance to the goal line.
Big first down at the ten yard line.
Definitely looks like he's he's he is not going to offer an explanation for the stoppage.
And both now to the.
So it looks like somebody on the chain crew got injured.
And we'll take a break as they try to figure out who the next who's next.
Man up on the chain.
Crew.

Back at Mill Creek, Matt Stewart, along with Wayne Gandy Cody Chaffins, John Nelson and Nicki Noto Palmer in our network studios tonight and they'll bring you the halftime show and the post game show.
So stick around.
After our game, they'll have scores and interviews with coaches from all over the state.
And the first round of the state playoffs here tonight.
7-0 Colquitt County on top leading Mill.
Creek.
Scored on the 1 yard touchdown plunge by Jay Lamar, capping a 72 yard drive at the end of the first quarter.
And now Colquitt County back out there on offense.
And Lamar in the Wildcat going to toss it back to Aldridge.
Remember he's the backup quarterback and he's going to get driven out of bounds at the 15 yard line.
I don't know if he was going to try to throw it downfield on that play.
They ran a play like that where Aldridge threw a touchdown pass in their big win over Lee County early in the season.
And it's an element that you have to keep.
The defense has to guess when when he's in the game and those kind of plays.
You got to always be alert to double a may, pull up and throw the ball.
He's a versatile player, plays in the slot.
He's a running back, quarterback right now.
Coach Calhoun and his offense are not shying away from running that wildcat formation.
Second down and five.
Lawson back in there.
Hands off to Lamar.
And Lamar has the first down as he pulls his way up to the 33 yard line.
Really love the way and the patience that Lamar shows.
Runs behind his blockers, always falling forward right there.
Getting up a little.
Is Thomas the right guard, but once again, the patience right here.
Following Thomas hand on his hip right there, pushing him forward and getting that first down.
Lamar hoping to follow in the footsteps of another former Colquitt County Packer great who played his career at the University of Georgia, Daijun Edwards.
First and ten.
Nothing doing on the carry right there.
Good job of faking there by Lawson on those plays right there for a moment.
You don't know if he's giving the ball away.
He's crowding the line after the hangout handoff.
But nice job there by Skidmore stepping up and making that play.
Yeah Skidmore making that tackle.
Mill Creek plays a lot of guys both ways.
Kind of unusual for a 6-A team.
But Josh Lovelady has always subscribed to the theory that you play your best 11.
And sometimes that means playing guys both ways.
But ultimately you got to have some depth because guys can't go both ways the entire game.
They got to come out sometimes.
Lawson clean pocket fires in the middle.
Nice catch by Aldridge.
Then he loses the ball and Mill Creek might be on top of it over there by the sideline.
They are.
Hawks have covered it at the 47.
All the elements of this play to make a big play.
Good protection.
Nice job.
Watch how Lawson steps up in this pocket.
Delivers the ball down the field to Aldridge.
And he just coughs it up right there at the end.
And a big break there for the Hawks.
And Manoa ends up recovering that fumble.
That was a great play to strip him of the ball.
Good job there.
Knocking it out by Manoa right there as he was double catching the ball.
Just getting that hand in and giving his team great field position here.
On the turnover as well.
And Rembert got shaken up on the play there helping him off the field right now.
But it will be the Hawks ball first and ten at the Colquitt County 47 yard line.
Turnovers have been a little bit of an issue for the Packers this season.
For an 8-2 team.
Kind of unusual to see they were negative two in the turnover ratio.
That's their eighth loss fumble of the season.
Playoff football.
You got to be mistake free.
Remember walking off very gently.
He's a guy that they really can't have out of this game.
Trying to get this victory for Mill Creek.
So first and ten as the Hawks are back out there on offense.
Let's see if they take a shot right away.
No.
Instead they toss to Beasley and he gets met head on and stopped immediately.
I think that was Timothy Downs number 28.
Who made that tackle.
Or maybe it was 20 instead.
So Ryan Robinson.
Nice job here.
Off the edge by Robinson to make that play.
Great job of keeping Beasley inside.
Not letting him get to the outside.
That's what he wants to do with his speed and a good job there by Robinson.
510165 junior with 13 tackles on the season.
Handoff goes to Beasley.
He slashes to the outside.
Gets cut down before he can turn the corner.
Nice tackle by Nissan Osby former wide receiver.
They turned into a big corner.
Big upside with this young man 62200 pounds senior.
Good job of getting off the block.
Watch how he shares this block right there.
Getting out of that block by the right tackle.
Hawkins and making that play on Beasley.
He's new to the defense.
He looked like he knew what he was doing didn't he?
Like I've been here all the time.
Coach.
Third down and long for Mill Creek.
Threatening to go three and out after getting that gift fumble Ragone in the pocket forces it out of there incomplete at the 40 yard line.
Alvarez was coming back to get it and couldn't make the catch.
Long throw there for Ragone trying to make it out on the edge.
Good pressure in his face, just not a clear pocket or lane to throw that ball.
And a great response there by the Packer defense after the turnover to get a three and out.
And you mentioned it.
You can see they're having some issues on that offensive line with two new starters up there because of the injuries.
Kicks going to hit at the 20.
And it's going to be fielded by Fuller on the hop.
And he gets knocked out of bounds at the 20 1 yard line.
Rashid Fuller being very aggressive on that punt return.
And so the Packers avoid disaster after the fumble by Aldridge and get the ball back.
This Packer offense has shown the ability to be balanced.
Throwing the ball down the field with Lawson getting it out on the edge quickly to Walker and Lockette using the tight ends, Ruffin and barge on those seam routes and then that Wildcat package when they needed in those third and fourth and shorts to get the first downs.
Packers have played a lot of players, and remember the Hawks got a lot of guys going both ways.
That could be a factor late in this game.
Who's going to have enough gas left in the tank in the third and fourth quarters?
Lawson floats it out there looking for Lockett a little bit too much float on that pass.
Incomplete it like it kind of stopped on that route right there.
A little slant route where he kind of stopped.
Felt like he was moving too fast.
Ball a little high in behind him right there on that slant out of the slot position there for Lockett.
Lockette was a big time get for them.
Transferred from Dougherty High School there in Albany.
Came to Moultrie 32 catches on the season.
654 total and nine touchdowns.
Coach Calhoun says he's deceptively fast.
He'll lull you to sleep and then hit you with the big play.
Lawson to the air again, goes up top, and it's going to be caught by Lockett.
First down for the Packers is Lockett hauls it in near the 47 yard line.
And what confidence Lawson trusting Lockett his main receiver here amino him in 50 50 ball.
Just throwing it up.
Never found the ball.
Was the cornerback here good adjustment body control by Lockett.
So Lockett comes up with the big time play.
And it's going to be first and ten for the Packers.
They're right around where Aldridge fumbled the ball just a few minutes ago.
Lawson up top man streaking open Walker makes the.
Catch.
Down to the 13 yard line.
Malik Walker another huge catch for him tonight.
I think we're going to get a late holding here off the edge here on Calhoun.
On his Colquitt late flag by the white hat.
I think we have holding on the left tackle.
Going to wipe out a huge catch by Walker.
Holding offense 10 yards from the previous spot.
Replay first down.
That's Kaden Calhoun.
We were talking about him earlier in this game.
Late.
You can see it right here off the edge Calhoun taking on Williams.
And right there as he turned the corner you could see you could see the hesitation by the white hat.
He he thought about letting it go, which would have made all the Packer fans happy.
But it was the right call.
Throwing that flag.
So backs him up first and 20 now ball sitting on the 36 halfway through this second quarter and a 7-0 lead for the Packers Lawson pocket steps up in it and fires deep.
Intercepted.
Herder with his sixth interception of the season bringing it back the other way and out of bounds at the 47.
Not sure what happened on that play, but Herder was like he was playing center field and just had to call for the.
Ball.
Deep throw, just trying to get the ball out.
No, no receiver in the area here for Lawson and truly making it easy for Carson Herder to go get that play.
Not sure what the flag is here, but a big break and a big turnover once again for the Hawks.
Illegal motion offense.
That penalty is declined.
First down.
On Colquitt County.
It's declined.
So Carter.
Herder comes up with his sixth interception of the season.
You mentioned it earlier.
He's kind of in that Mill Creek mode of wide receiver slash free safety.
Caleb Downs did it.
Trajan Greco did it.
Now Herder is not the college prospect that those two guys are.
But he's a fantastic high school defensive back and wide receiver.
Great high school player, has all the instincts right there.
You can see his skills as a receiver coming into play.
Finding the ball.
And looked like he was grabbing his ankle right there.
Yeah.
As we saw him on the ground.
But he's up walking.
He's a key element to this defense on the back end.
The Red Mamba.
Bread is thick red hair right there.
And can this offense get something going on first down that is key to try to defeat this defense on first down.
First and ten from the 48 Reagan slings it out.
There.
Complete to Barnes.
Barnes got a seam and gets down to the 20 yard line 29 yard line.
Nicely executed.
Barnes turns something out of nothing.
It looked.
Like working out on the edge, catching in space here.
A little quick screen, wide receiver screen.
Good block there in front of Barnes.
Nice job.
Nice block down the field there by Hamilton as well.
Well executed play there.
Alvarez Hamilton doing a good job out there helping their receiver make make a play.
So first and ten from the 29 yard line Reagan going up top.
And Hamilton cannot run underneath it.
Right there.
If you were going you want that back right there.
Lead Hamilton into the field.
No one's in the middle of the field right here.
Just leading big receiver like that into the middle of the field.
More towards the goal post and let him run under it.
Now we mentioned that Anderson's dad Dave is the quarterback coach of the L.A.
Rams coaching the quarterback I think his name is Matthew Stafford.
Having a career year at the age.
Of 37, Sheffield offense 5 yards from the previous spot.
Replay first.
Talking about perhaps MVP season for Matthew Stafford, but if you're wondering how his dad is the coach of the Rams, he was the offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons from 19 or rather, 2021-23.
So he's doing the East Coast, West Coast commute kind of thing.
As the kids have stayed back here in the state of Georgia.
And of course, his dad, Dave was a great quarterback himself at Louisville.
A third round draft pick.
And Anderson's got all the makings of following in dad's footsteps.
That's tuck on the carry.
No running room right there for tuck.
Doing a great job on first down runs.
His Packer defense good penetration again by Gay making tuck have to bounce the ball to the outside.
And right now Coach Calhoun has to be pleased with his defense and their effort of creating second and third and long for this Mill Creek offense.
So second down and long 13 to go from the 32 yard line under 5 minutes to play here in the first half.
Colquitt County on top 7-0 Clean pocket.
Now it breaks down and Reagan gets it out there.
It's going to be caught inside the ten yard line.
Big time.
Catch by Herder.
He gets the interception.
Then he gets the big time catch to set him up.
First and goal to.
Go.
Nice job right here.
Feeling the pressure.
Going to leave her.
Lead herder down the field standing in the pocket there is Reagan and a nice adjustment.
Willing to take the hit is Herder to get the big play for his team.
We talked about Herder and Hamilton having to come up with some big plays when given the opportunity.
So first and goal to go in the Alfa insurance red zone.
Reagan up top on the fade and the jump ball.
And it is a touchdown as Hamilton comes down with the.
Catch.
And it's seven.
Six.
Von Hamilton the three star decommitted from Colorado State.
And when we saw him before the game he's in that mold of a Julio Jones.
He is a big well-built receiver out on the edge 50 50 ball going against the 510170 Fuller.
Carter Jackson will try to tie it up.
Cannon Kiley, the number 2 quarterback who was the starting quarterback at the beginning of the season, is the holder.
They get the kick down and the kick is going to be up and the kick is.
Good.
77 as Mill Creek levels up, Ragon airborne to Hamilton, who comes down with the great catch.

So.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh hey what's up man.
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket.
And you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.
So why would you drive a car while distracted?
Driving isn't a game when you lose on the road, it could lead to a crash.
So when you get behind the wheel, put the distractions aside, drive hands free, and save lives.
Heads up Georgia.
402 to play in the first half, and Mill Creek has pulled even with Colquitt County 77.
Scoring drive brought to you by DBHDD and the new Red ribbon 365 curriculum.
Four plays, 48 yards 1:35 Time of possession set up by the interception by Herder.
And then Herder had a huge catch right there in the middle of the drive to get him down there first and goal.
And then Hamilton caps the drive with his three yard touchdown reception.
You almost wanted to force the touchdown on Herder for all the plays he made for his team to get down there, but a great job finding that matchup out on the edge when 65 Hamilton against Fuller was only 510.
Great job of execution.
So Carter Jackson has it teed up and ready to kick.
Line drive kick right there in the middle.
It's going to be taken by Henderson on a hop at the ten and Henderson going to make it up to the 29.
And no further.
And that's where the Packers will go on offense.
Now in a tie game.
And the Packers have to get back to executing.
You.
High level.
Really they've only stopped themselves with the turnovers.
They're moving the ball and they got away from the run.
Something they were doing in that first quarter.
They was mixing running pass.
They've been kind of throwing the ball right here with 3-53 left in the game.
Get that run game going.
Try to get on a long drive and punch it in, leaving no time for Mill Creek.
So first and ten ball sitting at the 27 yard line where the Packers go back on offense.
197 total offense for them in the first half.
Pitch goes to Lamar.
Got a blocker trying to get around the blocker.
Gets to the edge and Lamar tightropes the sideline before stepping out of bounds at the 41.
All about the individual effort right here by Lamar.
Out on the edge.
Tight pursuit underneath.
Couldn't find that cutback.
Lane backers right here 33 won't let him get up in there.
Good blocking as well.
Out on the edge there by Stokes and Lamar.
Always makes you feel like he's really just a heartbeat for making a footrace to the end zone.
So first and ten ball at the 40 1 yard line.
Handoff goes to Lamar again Lamar still on his feet and finally pushed out of bounds by Brandon Aiken.
So far we this is something we just talked about trying to get the run game going, staying more balanced.
Multiple people have touched the ball here for Colquitt County to execute a drive here going one of those 12 play drives.
Eat up this clock and put some points on the board.
Leonard now up over 40 yards rushing here in the first half.
Second down.
Lawson ball was tipped.
That was Baccus.
The Will linebacker got his hands on it.
He was upset he didn't come down with the.
Pick.
Nice job stepping in that passing lane by William back.
As you can see reading the quarterback eyes getting ready to time his jump.
Good job right there 511.
Not really sure that Lawson saw him with his height behind that the big defensive line and good job timing.
His jump was back.
Yeah he was 511.
He's kind of hiding behind everybody.
As Colquitt County burns a time-out right.
Here.
Newberry football.
And Colquitt County 8-2 on the season 4-1 in region one.
6-A co-champions in the region.
But the number 3 seed is Cody.
Told you they lost out on the tiebreaker.
Number 8 in our GPB 6-A top ten.
Number 6 in the state in the PSR rankings, they defeated Valdosta, the number 1 seed in the region lost to Lowndes, the number 2 seed.
They end up the number 3 seed, but they are the poster child, if you will.
For what and how dramatically different the playoffs will look next year.
With the PSR rankings in the current format, Colquitt County basically faces the entire playoffs on the road here tonight.
Maybe Grayson next week if they win here tonight in the PSR formatted playoffs that start next year, they would be the number 6 seed in the state.
That means they would play the first two games at home and against opponents, much less formidable than Mill Creek.
And if they win here tonight, then Grayson in the first two rounds.
And listening to you and Coach Calhoun talk about that, I think he's excited to cut down on some of those mileage, those miles that him and his team have to travel just doing the regular season.
They have to do a lot of driving.
So having to come four or 5 hours to get here each and every year.
Yeah, they have three hour bus rides in their own region going to Richmond Hill, Camden County.
That's a long way away.
It's a far flung region mileage wise, because there are so few teams in that highest classification in South Georgia.
So now it's going to be fourth down and five as they come up empty on the third down conversion.
Nice job there, Ryan.
Not undercutting that route.
And as we talked about this team when it's unbalanced this Packer team when they're having to throw in these last couple of drives with the interception and right there not able to dial it up on third and long.
Walker Lanier on to punt for the Packers.
And the very dangerous and ever present Carson Herder is standing deep.
It's a bad punt they kick it away from, but it turns into a good punt as it rolls down the sideline.
Tightropes the sideline and ends up going out of bounds at the 18 yard line.
Looked like it was going to be a bad punt, but sometimes bad punts are good punts.
When you get a big bounce.
Here's the season summary for the Mill Creek Hawks seven and three overall.
Finished as the number 2 seed coming out of region eight.
They would be the number 18 seed in the PSR rankings.
That means they would not be playing at home tonight if this was the format a year from now.
If this current season was applied to next year, they'd be on the road tonight against North Cobb.
0-2 against top ten opponents, losing to Buford and North Gwinnett.
Of course, Josh Lovelady, in his seventh season with 60-6 wins and the aforementioned 2022 state championship.
Reagan to the air fires and broken up.
That was McNeill, who broke it up as they tried to get the ball to Hamilton.
Hamilton.
Nice job playing center field, Alphonso McNeill haven't called his name a lot tonight.
He's usually on that back end slant inside to Hamilton and just maybe a little early.
There is McNeill on that route right there.
You can see Hamilton with his hands up.
Got there just a little earlier.
Early is the Tuskegee commit McNeill.
Third or 3:00 to go here in the first half.
Second and ten.
Handoff goes to tuck and tuck out across the 40 and across the 50.
And finally shoved out of bounds by McNeill across midfield at the 44.
Nick tuck with a big.
Gainer.
And we've been expecting more action by these running game out on the edge.
We figured it would come from Jay Beasley, but this time Nick tuck, the young junior 58, 176.
Reading the blocks, finally getting a crack to show you the explosiveness that he has.
Big play here with 2-55 in the game.
Tuck in the half.
Excuse me.
Yeah tuck only 30 carries for 123 for the entire season.
Averaged only three carries per game.
He's got more than that here tonight Reagan pocket fires in the middle.
And it's caught Rembert down to the 21.
And he does that.
To.
Big target 66200 pounds.
We talked about him.
Linebacker Deion now.
And both teams have made big plays feasting on these little seam routes.
Middle of the field open.
Good job.
Good find by Reagan.
Going to his all star linebacker who stepped in at tight end.
Yeah.
Seventh catch of the season for Rembert.
Came in six for 147.
So all of them big time catches.
That one was there.
It's first and ten.
Handoff goes to Beasley.
They're waiting on him and Beasley gets driven backwards.
Gay and Judy there on the tackle.
Those are those plays coach Calhoun talked about with Gay, where he plays bigger than his size.
510255 just hard to leverage out of there.
And we've seen consistently tonight 55 in the backfield.
Maybe not making the play but causing the backs half to bounce to the outside.
And he's been offered by Rhinehart the Naia school up in the Georgia mountains.
510255 senior coach Calhoun says he plays every play like it's the last play of the state championship game.
It's a great high school player.
A lot of effort, a lot of energy inside.
A formation offense.
Penalties declined.
Second down.
So second down and 10218 to play here in the first half a tie game 77.
But the Hawks threatening to grab the lead here before halftime.
Handoff goes to Beasley short side run.
Beasley down to the 14 and driven out of bounds by Davion Enoch.
Find a little success out on that edge.
On that left side.
This time it's Beasley bouncing to the outside.
Good job.
Zone blocking up front.
Good block there by Landon Williams securing that edge.
So third down ball sitting at the 15.
Beasley gets it again.
This time he's hemmed in and driven out of bounds.
Might have lost half a yard on the play as that was McKenzie Graham there to make the stop.
And now it's fourth down.
Nice job there by Graham.
Beautiful job there by Gay as well.
His effort on this play keeping Beasley from being able to cut that ball back inside.
And nice hit there again by McKenzie Graham.
Fourth down to keep the offense or go for the points.
Well you have to imagine the last field goal attempt didn't look good last time.
Looks like they're going to dial it up here.
Going for it on fourth and three.
Come up quick to the line Reagan trying to draw him offsides.
And now they're going to call a time-out.
Or maybe they got Colquitt to jump.
They seem to believe that's the case.
Encroachment defense five yard penalty will result in a first down.
You did see Coach Lovelady sprinting down there trying to call a time-out, but the flag was already on the field and a big break drawing him off here.
As you can see, they're showing pressure.
It looks like Enoch the linebacker stepped up there in the gap and stepped across the line of scrimmage.
Encroachment.
So first and goal to go now for the Hawks from just inside the ten Reagan to the air fires.
And it is incomplete trying to go to Hamilton again.
Trying to work that one on one matchup.
Take advantage of the size difference between Hamilton and Fuller.
On the coverage.
Out on the edge.
Hamilton just decommitted from Colorado State this week.
He still has 17 offers.
Looks like he's going to have a visit lined up with Minnesota here coming up soon.
Georgia Boyd going to all those cold weather places.
, wherever the opportunity is.
Wayne handoff goes to tuck.
Tuck cuts back in there and gets down to the five.
I know you took a visit to Notre Dame when you were a Florida boy looking for your college.
Home, and.
He just said it was too.
Cold for you.
Yeah, the first time.
First trip I ever took was to Notre Dame.
As I exit the airport, I told the host that they could just book me to go back to Florida.
To cold.
It is too cold up here.
Third down and goal from the six.
Approaching 1 minute left in the first half.
Ragone on the sprint out looking, firing and incomplete.
Alvarez was his target.
He was double covered.
It's going to be fourth down.
Now.
You go for the field goal.
Yeah.
Tight coverage there.
And here in this situation you got to try to knock the three on the board here.
Good roll out.
Trying to get to the edge.
Good job by the d n keeping everything in front of him.
Just no chance really for Alvarez to make a play on that ball.
So Carter Jackson on.
He's six for 11 on the season and this is going to be a 23 yard attempt from the left.
Hash.
Snap back kick is on its way and the kick is going to be good.
And Carter Jackson pumps it through.
And with 52 seconds to play in the half, Mill Creek has their first lead of the night.
It's 10-7 Good drive here to end the half by Mill Creek.
Good run.
Nick Tuck broke that long run off that left side chunk.
Play right there and then just making plays.
Getting the run game going.
Good execution here to get back into this game.
Colquitt County you feel like one that first quarter.
And now Hill Creek here in the second getting themselves in this lead.
Yeah absolutely.
Stick around.
Coming up at halftime John Nelson and Nikki Palmer back in our GPB network studios.
We'll be taking you around the state, taking a look at all the scores here in the first round of playoff action.
Of course, of particular interest to Mill Creek and Colquitt County here tonight is that Grayson Norcross game.
If Grayson wins, then the winner of this game will be playing at Grayson, the number 2 team in the nation next Friday night.
If Norcross pulls off the upset, then the winner of this game would be hosting Norcross.
You take a look at the DBHDD and the new Red ribbon 365 curriculum scoring drive.
Impressive.
Ten plays, 76 yards, 2:18 Time of possession.
Now, neither one of the kickers that we're watching here tonight have had touchbacks this season.
So the return game is in play tonight.
Henderson on the return.
Like I just said, the return game is in play tonight.
And Henderson returns that ball all the way up to the 46 yard line.
Gavin Henderson.
And with that kind of return, you can become aggressive offensively.
Good job fielding the ball first and then exploding through the hole right there is Henderson a little stiff arm.
Big chunk play here to get you at midfield.
And now offensively you can feel like especially the way they threw the ball in that first quarter.
As you can try something down the field to lock it in.
Walker.
So probably got to get the ball inside the 20 to be in field goal range here for Josh Scroggins.
And Lawson back out there with the offense.
Heavy rush in his face.
Fires and nearly intercepted into triple coverage.
It went that time and nearly came up with the interception.
Right here.
Just pressuring your face.
You're going Lawson got to move in the pocket.
Got to move right there.
Kind of stuck on his spot trying to deliver the ball.
Triple covered over there is Lockette.
Ryan knocked.
The linebacker actually tipped it up in the air.
And Manoa trailing on the play nearly had the deflection.
Second down and ten.
Lawson lofts it out there.
And it is going to be caught by Lockett at the 26 yard line.
Lockett just wrestles the ball away from Brooks.
Green nice job underneath Lockett.
Guy known for catching the ball with his hands.
Great job there bringing that ball down.
Big chunk play.
Second down and ten.
They have the ball or first and ten from the 25 firing and batted down.
Once again.
Mr.
Rembert in the middle with that 66 frame playing basketball.
As we said all state right here.
He's used to timing it up.
Nice job knocking the ball down.
Now it brings up second down and ten.
Just 17 seconds left here in the first half.
Probably on the edge of Josh Scroggins field goal range right here.
Going to the sideline to get the play.
There is Lawson.
You can imagine Coach Calhoun just telling him.
Just want to make sure we secure a 57 yard pass to get a field goal attempt.
Heavy rushes coming at him gets it out of there.
It's caught.
Touchdown.
Colquitt County as Lockett comes down with it.
They go full out.
Blitz and Lockett was open behind the defense.
Cohen Lawson toughness as a sophomore willing to take the hit for his team in the pocket here.
The blitz is coming.
The Burgundy jerseys are coming.
Just laying it out there for his receiver.
Trusting Lockett is going to make a play.
Good job waiting on the ball.
There is the safety letting Lockett get in front of him.
There is Huerter.
And what a touchdown drive.
And the p.a.t.
By Scroggins is good.
And Colquitt County with just 10 seconds left in the half reclaims the lead 14-10 on the 25 yard touchdown pass to Antoine Lockett.
Lockette had receptions of 28 yards and then 25 yards on that touchdown drive.
And this all about Henderson and the return he got on the kickoff.
If he doesn't get a big return you imagine that Coach Calhoun is going to maybe play it safe and just take the half right there.
Finding himself at midfield being aggressive.
And Cohen Lawson sitting in the pocket, finding his favorite target in Antoine Lockette.
Lockett with his tenth touchdown catch of the season.
He's got four catches for 89 yards tonight.
Should take a look at the DBHDD.
The new red ribbon 365 curriculum scoring drive four plays 54 yards and almost all of it.
After the Henderson return came on catches by Lockett.
Great job in that drive.
Adjusting a couple of wobblers the ball right there, hanging in the air and still going to get the ball.
There was Lockett.
And kicked the ball towards Juno.
He's going to field it at the 15 yard line.
Oh my goodness.
Heat seeking missile McKenzie Graham.
We talked about this young man and his ability and willingness to strike a blow for the cause right here.
You could hear this hit all the way up here with the windows kind of closed in the press box.
Big hit there by McKenzie Graham Wiley you can see the kind of punishment he will deal out and White teams, and he's starting to get some momentum.
You can see why they gave him the Guardian.
Helmet protecting.
Protecting from himself.
5 seconds left in the half.
And it looks like Mill Creek will take a knee right here.
Yeah.
Robbie.
Regan with the kneel down.
And that will end the first half.
Things got interesting in the last 2 minutes of the half.
Wayne.
And it's 1410 Colquitt County heading to the locker room.
Yeah, they were kind of slow walking there for a little bit.
Mill Creek finally found a little groove there in the second quarter.
And in that last 3 minutes of the game for both teams being explosive plays down the field, putting points on the board.
Cohen Lawson 11 for 21 91 and a touchdown.
And time now for our halftime interview brought to you by Johnny's New York style pizza Cody.
Here with Sean Calhoun, head coach of Colquitt County.
Coach, a lot of things didn't go your way in that first half, but what does it say about your team to go down and retake the lead with under a minute to go?
When we make some plays, we can do some things good.
We're just trying to shoot off every toe we got.
And if we stop hurting ourselves, we're going to be in this in the fourth quarter.
Great, great response there.
But that was set up by a great kickoff return.
We'll do some good things and penalties and big plays.
So we got to cut both of those out.
Yeah.
How do you clean it up in the second half?
Just play our football.
Right.
Our, our two biggest keys were take care of the football, limit penalties and don't give up the big play.
And this is a really good team.
So we know we're going to get their best.
Which seniors want to go to round two.
So we got to play football.
All right.
Good luck in the second half.
Coach Sean Calhoun and Colquitt County leading 14-10 at the half.
John and Nikki are on the other side of this break with an update from the first round.
All around this football Friday in Georgia.
All right.
What do you think, Jasper?
Honestly, I think that polyester shirts affecting your game.
What?
I think cotton would have been a better choice.
Cotton.
And it's come a long way.
You know, nowadays, cotton breeze and wicks moisture.
Great.
Plus, buying cotton means supporting Georgia farmers.
I think that's wonderful.
Okay, sure.
But what do you think about the putt?
Oh, it's really I hadn't thought about it.

But right now, our signature moment is brought to us by our friends over at Cigna.
Now vaping continues to be an epidemic among young people.
Now our Hannah Goodin she sits down to discuss some of the misconceptions, dangers and Moore of the growing trend.
Vaping is popular with Georgia teens and many mistakenly think it's safer than smoking.
Here to share helpful information on kicking the habit is Tara Jackson, vice president of Existing business, National Accounts.
Tara, how worried should parents be that their kids are vaping?
Hannah vaping is a big problem.
One in four Georgia teens indicate they utilize an electronic cigarette.
In the past 30 days.
Although most of us know that smoking cigarettes is dangerous to our health, a third of teens mistakenly think that it's safe.
Actually, nicotine is highly addictive in vapes, which is a risk for teens because their brains are still developing even vapes that don't have nicotine have toxic chemicals that can impact lungs and cause cancer.
Why are vaping numbers on the rise among teens?
Besides teens mistakenly thinking that vaping is safe is safe.
Some teens think that it's more socially acceptable than smoking.
What should parents do to help their kids kick this habit?
Talk to your teen.
Ask them why are they vaping?
Are they acting out?
Are they trying to fit in?
Do they somehow think vaping is helping them cope with stress?
Talk with your kid's pediatrician on nicotine addiction.
Also, most employers offer an employee assistance program that covers the cost of smoking cessation programs.
Tara, this is so important, especially with these rising numbers.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you.

Now it's time to catch up with our friends at Heads Up Georgia and the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
We got the holiday season coming up just around the corner.
Here's some helpful hints with a very familiar face and voice about holiday travel.
Welcome back!
Time to find out more information about Child Passenger Safety.
Hanging out with us is our friend Nikki Nazario from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
All right, look, we know Thanksgiving holiday time.
It's a crazy time to be on the roads.
Why is it so important that child safety seats, they're looked at and they're inspected on a regular basis?
Why?
That's right.
So the roads are going to be a little bit crazy because there are so many people going to travel.
So it's very important to make sure that car seats are appropriate for that child's age, height and weight.
And because kids do tend to grow, we need to make sure that we're checking those occasionally to make sure that they're still fitted properly and that that car seat is installed properly in the vehicle.
And you can also get free checks.
So the car seats, right?
Yes.
So we always have in different locations and different counties, places where families can go and get their car seat inspected and make sure that that child is in the proper car seat.
Now what about resources parents can use to make sure that they're making the right choices.
So they can go to knit slash seats for the state of Georgia specifically, we have GA highway safety.org, which is a website where you can get a lot of information on child passenger safety.
And that is the Intel that you need for child passenger safety.
Great to hang out with our friend Nikki de Nazario from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Enjoy the holidays.
The heads Up Georgia Student video contest has come to a close.

We're bringing health insurance home.
It's halftime right now.
Colquitt County is leading Mill Creek 14-10 Now it's time for this week's Georgia Player Spotlight.
Brought to you by You Save It pharmacy.
Now this is a familiar face in J. Lamar, a senior running back a future Georgia Bulldog who has quite the first half for Colquitt County.
He's featured tonight.
Let's go ahead and see what makes him so special.
I got shot in the ninth grade.
I mean, I was 1 " away from my main artery.
Obviously, I was headed down the wrong path.
They just needed a little guidance at the time.
But he turned out to be a great kid.
Be his only his second year of playing high school football.
He's got a lot to learn about.
The running back position, and I tell everybody his best football is ahead.
He's not a finished product.
J can do some things that that that a lot of kids cannot.
And he's blessed.
And obviously.
Us having him on our team.
We are blessed in that same sense.
Jake and Flat Daggum run when he gets vertical.
He's really hard to catch.
Undetermined to get a touchdown.
Every time I touch the ball.
Not wrong.
He can flat dadgum run.
It's great to see him in the first half.
We'll see what he has coming up here in the second 20:04 in just a bit.
Thanks to our friends at U-save Pharmacy for being great friends here at GPB all season long.
Now it's time to catch up with our great partners at Georgia EMC.
Time to find out what's going on in Middle Georgia with a visit to Hawkinsville.
And let's say that the end.
There's a lot of folks that show up for the presentation.
Here's our visit.
Middle Georgia EMC and 35 other participating Georgia Electric membership cooperatives congratulate Hawkinsville High School on winning the GHSA Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award.
This award honors schools that exhibit exemplary sportsmanship during competitive events.
Come on, let's go.
Only one school in each region in each classification is chosen to receive this annual award.
The GHSA takes into consideration all aspects of sportsmanship, making the award a tribute to the entire community.
Middle Georgia EMC is proud to present the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award to Hawkinsville High School as a lineman at Middle Georgia EMC and a graduate of Hawkinsville High School.
I've seen firsthand how the community lives out the values of cooperation and sportsmanship, both on and off the field.
Introduced in 2006, this award reinforces the GHSA philosophy that everyone associated with high school activities, from athletes to spectators, should adhere to the fundamental values it represents.
Well, it means.
A lot to school because here at Hawkinsville we take pride in that.
Athletics is more than just what happens on the scoreboard.
It's it's how you present yourself in winning and losing respect for the officials, other teams, other fans.
This is this is more an award just for the high school.
It's more for Red Devil Nation.
This award is really about the whole town, the whole community.
They are real supportive of our athletes.
And every time we have a big event, the town comes out, supports us and takes care of us.
And so we're excited about the award and what it means for the whole community.
Time to present the trophy to our friends from Hawkinsville.
Everyone is here in the school today.
We got coaches, we got cheerleaders.
I covered you.
When.
You played.
All right.
Go for it.
A friends from Middle Georgia, EMC, Hawkinsville High School.
You got it.
Play us.
Out Georgia EMC in the 36 participating Georgia Electric membership cooperatives are proud to sponsor the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award.
Congratulations to the Hawkinsville Red Devils community.
You like that John?
That was amazing.
I kind of want to reach out to Josh Lovelady and see if you can help the Hawks run game out tonight.
You had some wheels out there.
Yeah.
And they fell off right after good Will hunting shot that close.
We're going to come back and we're going to go through brackets.
As we know at halftime show continues brought to us by our friends at Georgia Access Stick and Stay.
We'll be right back.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh hey.
What's up man.

West Laurens they were up by 31.

Start of the third quarter here in Houston and Colquitt County.
Leading this first round match.
Up 14-10 Winner advances to play the winner of the Grayson and Norcross game in the second round.
Matt Stewart, joined by Wayne Gandy.
Interesting first half.
Kind of slow.
Played it a little bit until the final couple of minutes.
Then things got crazy.
Yeah, both teams had their quarters in that first quarter.
Colquitt able to continue to have some physical plays in the offensive line, make some plays and then Mill Creek finally got a couple of breaks with some turnovers to get back into the game.
Absolutely.
I thought it was interesting.
Colquitt County, from a yardage standpoint, is nearly doubled up mill Creek, so they were able to move the ball pretty effectively.
But they, as Coach Calhoun says, trying to shoot off every toe on the foot.
He knows there's no tomorrow.
That's the best thing about playoff football.
It's always game seven.
All right.
Let's take a look at those first half highlights.
Colquitt County jumped on board first here with a 12 play, 72 yard drive capped by the 1 yard touchdown run by Jay Lamar.
Physical drive getting into the end zone with Lamar.
And then it kind of became the Carson Herder Show here.
Gordon Lawson trying to make a play throwing the ball up.
Mr.
Herder with the interception.
And a 27 yard return by Herder.
And then a couple of plays later, a 29 yard catch set him up at the three yard line.
Young man made some big plays to help his team out.
And then right here just a jump ball action to Davon Hamilton to get on the scoreboard.
And then right there before the end of the half.
Colquitt County grabs the lead back on the 25 yard touchdown pass from Lawson to Lockett.
And a 1410 game.
That's where we stand right now.
And time now for our Johnny's Pizza halftime interview.
Let's send it down to Cody Chaffins.
All right.
With Josh Lovelady, head coach at Mill Creek Defense.
Kind of turned in some offense a two turnovers in the first half kind of sparked your offense a little bit.
It felt like.
It did.
We.
Were self-imploding a. Little bit.
You know, the first drive bad snap.
We've had some untimely penalties.
You know, we got to control the controllables on our end offensively to stop drive stoppers.
They're a great defense.
You know, this is playoff time, you know?
So defense came up a couple turnovers.
We got to settle in.
We got to communicate.
There's a few things that we were crossed up there at the end of the half.
That gave him the opportunity.
So we just got to clean some things up and we'll be okay.
You're going to get the ball right here.
What do you want to see on this first drive?
Just be consistent offensively.
Just take what they give us and let's get after it.
All right.
We'll see the second half.
It should be a fun finish here.
As Mill Creek trails Colquitt County 1410 Matt.
All right Cody Wayne let's take a look at those first half stats.
As I said White doubled up.
But 270 total yards for Colquitt County to Mill Creek's 168.
Yeah.
The offensive line shined for Colquitt getting the run game going with multiple people running the ball.
And when you look at it pretty clean game.
Third down conversion though.
Mill Creek zero for five.
That stands out in a big way.
Just not able to stay on the field in those situations.
But the ability to get a couple of turnovers, get the offense, the short field has really paid off for them.
Another thing that stands out to me is Mill Creek has not been able to run the ball at all against Colquitt County, only 35 yards rushing.
There in the first half.
And Beasley has totally been shut down.
Only six carries, 11 yards, actually 5 yards total.
The 11 was the total.
And then you take away the negative plays.
He's only got 5 yards rushing in the first half.
Yeah.
Guys like McKenzie Graham playing out on the edge Ryan Robinson not allowing him to get outside.
He's going to have to make some cutbacks and make some plays up into the line to get his run game going.
And that's something they're going to need to lean on here in the second half.
So just 24 minutes away from one team advancing in the second round and one team having their season come to a close in this fantastic north south first round matchup and a 1410 lead for Colquitt County.
And the second half kickoff is brought to you by Heads up Georgia.
Park your phone while you're driving.
It saves lives.
So here we go.
Josh Scroggins has it teed up and ready to kick off.
See if they try to kick the ball away from Herder.
It's going to be caught by Herder at the 17.
He cuts to the outside and Herder steps out of bounds.
Let's see where they spot it.
Looks like he's going to have a nice return up to the 37.
So good field position for the Hawks to start the third quarter.
Can this offensive line for the Hawks hold up.
We talked about Brevik Hill two guys who are having their first start in a playoff game.
And this defensive line up front Moore, Gay and Judy have done a good job stuffing the run, forcing Ragen to have to make a lot of plays down the field, moving his feet.
Anderson Ragon six for 11133 passing and a touchdown.
He was sacked once.
As we start the third quarter, Beasley lined up next to him.
And Beasley gets the hand off as they try to get the run game started here and maybe 3 yards on the carry for Beasley.
Once again you can see the penetration not allowing him to cut back, and this defense is just doing a great job not letting Beasley get to the edge.
That's where he wants to go with his speed.
Davion Enoch leading the charge for the Packers defensively.
And it's going to be second down.
Winning first down has been key for the Packers tonight.
Once again right here.
Just trying to create third and long for this young sophomore quarterback.
Ragon Herder gets the hand off on the jet sweep and cuts back into the middle McNeil makes the tackle.
But Herder again making big plays for this team in every phase of the game.
Close to the first down.
It's just a guy that you hit all the measurables 510, 176 but he is a great two way player for this team.
Little jet sweep action right here trying to get on the edge.
A lot of bodies there but a good job rallying to the ball.
As you can see all the white jerseys.
Third down and one.
Can they convert on third down here.
As Wayne pointed out at halftime they're zero for five so far in the game.
Beasley gets it.
He gets the first down.
Beasley crosses midfield and moves the pile down to the 43.
Nice job of just getting downhill right there by Beasley getting in there between the two.
Hillman twins at guard.
That's a lot of weight.
33311 just getting their shoulders square.
Nice job of running there by Beasley.
That's over 600 pounds of blocking up front between Jalen and Kaiden Hillman.
First and ten ball at the 43 yard line.
Play action.
Ragon.
Clean pocket fires in and out of the hands of Alvarez.
That was a sure catch that he didn't make.
Looks like we're going to get a late rushing.
Excuse me, late hit on the quarterback here by Enoch Fabian Enoch coming on a late dog, applying the pressure there on Reagan flag on the field.
Roughing the passer.
Defense 15 yards.
Roughing the passer on.
The previous spot.
Results in an automatic first down.
As you can see, the late dog right here by 15 in the middle of your screen.
Coming late.
And then just kind of lowering his head into that and to deliver that hit.
And that's what they call right there.
As a linebacker.
Something clicks in your head and you're just like, I got to get the hit.
I gotta finish it off.
I that's the aggressiveness that it takes to play that position.
But just a bad execution there.
By Enoch.
So first down ball goes to tuck Nick tuck picks up about three hard yards down to the 25 yard line.
Tuck has been a surprise.
We mentioned tuck had 30 carries for 123 for the entire season.
Coming into tonight.
That was his sixth carry.
Puts him up over 60 yards for the night.
Yeah running physical has had the big run in that first half on that drive to get on the field goal.
Doing a good job.
A guy that has really come along and we talked about Beasley has been the run game for this team the whole season.
But tuck making big plays so far in this game.
Ragon goes to the sideline and broken up trying to go to went right there.
That's the second time they've tried that play and second time it's been unsuccessful.
So will root this time not being fooled.
Here is Osby.
You can see the big corner has his head around doing a good job.
That time.
Try to run that little wheel route.
The first time they ran it, they just missed the catch there.
By went that time a good job by Osby knocking it down.
Third down, seven to go.
Line to gain is the 18.
Ball goes to Beasley.
Beasley going to get wrapped up by nice and Judy and driven back.
Did not get close to the first down.
Let's see decision time for Josh Lovelady.
And you feel like they ran the ball right there because they were in that four down territory kind of mindset with the way they're kicking the ball and you can see the offense is going to stay out there, at least to try to draw them offsides.
But typically in that situation running the ball means that I'm going to go for it on fourth.
It worked in the first half when Reagan came running up to the line and drew him offsides.
See if they try that again.
That's Huerter in motion.
Fakes it to him Reagan looking downfield and fires.
And it is caught by Hamilton inside the five.
What a catch by Devin Hamilton.
Initially great defense by the Packers.
They took away the first option for Reagan.
Right here went tries to come out to the flat able to get his shoulders square to get something on this pass down the field.
And you feel like McNeil was right there to make the play.
But fell down and a nice grab there by Hamilton.
Hamilton has put some good plays on tape here tonight as he reopened his recruitment this weekend.
He has played big now it's first down and goal to go from the 2.5.
I think Josh Lovelady wants a time-out.
He's standing on the 15 yard line.
That means that's a good indication.
So a time-out on the field.
Mill Creek here on their opening drive of the third quarter threatening to reclaim the lead.
I had got shot in the ninth grade.
I mean, I was 1 " away from my main artery.
Obviously, I was headed down the wrong path.
They just needed a little guidance at the time.
But he's turned out to be a great kid.
Be his only his second year of playing high school football.
He's got a lot to learn about the running back position, and I tell everybody his best football is ahead.
He's not a finished product.
Jake can do some things that that that a lot of kids cannot.
And he's blessed.
And obviously.
Us having him on our team.
We are blessed in that same sense.
Jake and Flat Daggum run when he gets vertical.
He's really hard to catch.
I'm determined to get a touchdown every time I touch the ball.

Matt Stewart Wayne Gandy with you first and goal to goal for the Hawks coming out of the time-out.
They've held the ball for the entire third quarter.
So for the first 4 minutes since taking the opening kickoff.
High snap, they give the ball to Beasley.
Beasley takes it in Mill Creek back on.
Top.
, 16-10 Jade Beasley.
With his 14th total touchdown of the season.
Good job here.
By Anderson Reagan going up to get this bad snap a little high almost throw the timing off the play.
As you could see Beasley had to wait a beat to get this ball, but a great job of getting his shoulders square and getting upfield and jumping into the end zone.
On the left side of the offensive line for the Hawks.
That hole Beasley.
So Carter Jackson on to try to make it a three point game.
And get the snap down and the kick is up and the kick is good.
17 14 Mill Creek leads by a field goal.
Right here.
High snap right there.
Beasley doing a good job of being patient, bailing his quarterback out as he had to come down.
Weight on the ball.
But a physical run to get into the end zone for Mill Creek.
This is the 17th straight year that Colquitt County has been in the state playoffs.
And the 12th straight year for Mill Creek.
And during that time, the Packers have gone 16-1 in first round action.
Mill Creek has gone 10-8 three during that time, 10-4 all time in the first round.
So it would be an upset for either one of these teams, but somebody's going to wear it tonight.
Yes.
Two teams that's used to marching on and moving on to the next round.
And we have a good game here.
Started a little slow, but guys are starting to pick up the pace and make a couple of plays and shake off those two weeks off.
And the kick is bouncing around the 40 yard line.
And it's going to go back and be recovered at the 32 and brought up there to the 32 yard line.
That's the first time Fuller has had a chance to return a kick here tonight.
And he gets it to the 32 yard line.
Let's check in with Cody.
Ragon.
He talked so much about his dad Dave Ragon.
Former Falcons offensive coordinator.
But he's got some great female athletes in his family as well.
His sister Bella 62 wing for Mill Creek, one of the top women's basketball players in the state of Georgia.
A committed to Notre Dame unfortunately tore ACL will miss her senior season, but his mother Margie, also a star basketball player at Louisville.
So not just dad, who was one of the great athletes in the family.
Absolutely.
Bella is one of the best basketball players in the country, a five star and one of the top forwards in the entire country.
As you mentioned, she did have the knee injury and she'll miss her senior season with the Hawks, but did sign not just committed, but did sign with Notre Dame this week as the early signing period began.
So good for her.
, putting a lot of pressure on her younger brother, you.
Know.
And no doubt.
Notre Dame signee.
What can you do, little bro?
But we both feel like the little bro will have a great chance of maybe joining his sister here in a couple of years.
Yeah, he's going to be a big time prospect in the state.
He's just now getting started.
Did not take over as the starting quarterback here at Mill Creek until the Dacula game up in the air, Lawson goes.
It's Lockett again with another huge catch.
And Antoine Lockett is proving to be unguardable here tonight.
Just a seam route here once again.
Deep down the field for Lockett corn Lawson great protection.
Long developing play right there.
Just a good job again by Lockett.
Adjusting to the ball.
He's their deep threat.
He's counting on to make plays.
And he's shining for his young quarterback right now.
So first and ten is Lockett comes up with another huge catch right in the middle of the Mill Creek defense Lawson to the air again.
And Lockett out there as target ball.
Nowhere near catchable.
It'll be second down and ten.
Pressure there off the edge.
Getting to Lawson that time.
And this offense has the ability to run the ball.
We've seen it tonight.
Offensive line has done a great job.
Sometimes they've been lulled into just making it a passing game because of the plays Lockett has made.
But you like to see them get back to trying to keep a balance.
Offensive attack going with Lamar and Stevenson and Stokes.
You saw Lawson's numbers, five catches, 123 for Lockett having a huge game tonight.
Sprint out Lawson up top looking for Taylor.
And let's see if they throw a flag right there.
They certainly could have I thought.
Lott.
Looks like we have a flag right there around the eight yard line.
Yeah.
There should have.
Been a lot of contact right there.
It was Payton Bostic.
Yeah.
Number 31.
Bostic looked like he was holding on to his shoulder pads.
.
Some hand fighting between Bostic and Walker.
Pass interference defense 15 yards from the previous spot will result in a first down.
And that situation, Bostic.
Just never.
Right.
They're getting beat down the field.
Never got his head around grabbing the jersey, tugging there on Walker.
And Wayne, as we've talked so many times with the rules and penalties being what they are in high school football, it's better to take the penalty than to give up the touchdown, right?
Yeah.
You got to take that penalty right there.
Walker this ability to go up and catch the ball with that speed that he has, definitely right there beat on the play Peyton Bostic doing the right thing grabbing the jersey.
So first and ten for the Packers.
They come right back down the field trying to reclaim the lead again.
Hand off goes to Lamar J. Lamar busts through a tackle and down to the.
Five.
Nice run right up the middle there behind Yingling and Thomas on that right side Jamal Jackson doing a good job.
Good blocking by the tight end.
There.
Barges as well.
Always explosive.
Gotta count on Lamar.
Lamar gets it into the end zone.
No he's down at the one.
They're not going to give it to.
Him I thought he got in.
But apparently they're going to say ball down inside the one.
Trying to go quick.
Here.
As this Packers offense getting back to the line of scrimmage.
Lamar again going to bounce it in this time J Lamar second touchdown run of the night.
And Colquitt County quickly reclaims the lead.
It's 20-17 Good job getting lined up moving fast here.
Offensive line doing a good job on that left side.
Good block there by Calhoun.
And then just the strength and size of Lamar there to get into the end zone.
The Georgia Bulldogs commit completes the drive.
Now has nine carries 67 yards tonight.
And the kick is up.
And the kick is good.
It's 21 17.
Colquitt back on top by four.
Got a great game brewing here in Houston tonight.

Cody.
What you.
Got?
Jay Lamar with his second touchdown of the night?
It's been a big story statewide this year.
Lamar suspended for three games from Colquitt County.
We talked to coach Sean Calhoun about it.
He said he's been very open and honest with his team about the whole situation.
Called it the elephant in the room.
He said he was really impressed with the group of seniors who came up with a little bit of a contract, some expectations if Lamar was going to be back on this team, he's obviously done what he needed to and making an impact tonight.
Yeah, coach Calhoun said Jay was down to his last straw, but everything's been well since he got back and he is their leading rusher tonight.
11 carries 73 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
And a big reason why.
Colquitt has a 21 17 lead in this first round matchup.
So Scroggins going to angle the kick.
It's going to be taken at the 20 yard line.
And Jayden Barnes on the return gets it up close to the 30 31.
Let's see where they spot it.
That's where the Hawks will go back on offense.
Kind of gotten into a little bit of a back and forth here.
Wayne.
Yeah we're throwing haymakers now.
The action is going.
Guys are finally shaking off of that long break.
Two teams as you said Matt they're perennial playoff teams over the last 12 15 years.
And now we're getting into the good part of the game.
Guys making plays on both sides of the ball.
Yeah, someone's going to get knocked out tonight.
Unaccustomed to not getting past the first round.
But it's going to happen because of this matchup between these two really good teams in the first round.
Handoff goes to tuck again.
Nick Tuck is kind of been their guy.
And you wonder you know was that a function of the extra week.
Was that something they worked on or is it just a matter that tuck seems like to be the hot hand?
Right now we're talking to Jay Beasley's dad, Fred.
Jade is playing on a little sore ankle, and maybe that has something to do with his ability to cut on that ankle.
Look good on that touchdown, though, that he scored last time.
But mixing in tuck really seems to be affecting and having a positive effect for this offense.
Little lob out here to hurt.
He's going to have to try to beat the pressure.
And he's not going to be able to.
And a flag comes out as the tackle is made by Josh Alford.
Right here.
Is it a face mask or horse collar right here.
From that flag you get the feel that it it may be a face mask.
Yeah.
It looks like face mask.
The official indicating that's going to be the call.
Good job.
All night long, though.
This Packer defense of not letting these plays bounce to the outside, rallying to.
The ball face mask defense 15 yards will result in a first down.
But that's going to be another big time 15 yard penalty here against Colquitt County.
Right here.
Just a little quick pass trying to get the ball to hurt her.
And you can see just kind of right there at the end that left hand pulling on right there by Josh Alford.
So first and ten for Mill Creek.
They're close to midfield again.
They're at the 49.
Rimbert's in there at wide receiver.
They're going to throw it right to him down to the 43.
That's the Redbird.
Maybe trying to switch positions Matt we talked about 66 not being able to play linebacker stand up linebacker.
And now you see him right there once again just a little stop route.
Big target at six six and showing you some good hands as well.
Well won't play linebacker at 66200.
Yeah definitely going.
To.
Have to put a little.
Bit more meat on those bones.
He's going to play linebacker next level.
But I mean the world of possibility upside with this kid's tremendous.
He could be a wide receiver.
He could be a defensive end.
I think he's going to have positions.
He can choose.
And the coaches can choose those too.
You just got so many possibilities with a body type like that.
As Beasley gets driven back.
So many of our modern day tight ends were great basketball players.
When you think about Antonio Gates, yeah, Tony Gonzalez, those guys, the Graham kid that used to play for the Saints, they were all great basketball players that just moved over to tight end as well.
First and ten Antonio Gates is probably the best story ever.
Play action.
There goes.
And they wing it to the outside.
And Hamilton can't catch up with it.
But Antonio Gates never even played college football.
He was a basketball player and morphed into an NFL tight end, and a great one at that.
And more and more college basketball players, especially guys that play that power forward position, are getting invites to come into camp in the NFL with the changes to the rules of the physicality of hitting, it has allowed those guys to be able to be big targets and, you know, playing basketball, you have great hands catching the ball.
Second down, hand off goes to Beasley and Beasley.
Gets stonewalled there at the line of scrimmage.
How about Jaylen Johnson.
Do you think he could be a tight end.
How about that performance by him last night.
What a great job.
When I saw it I thought it was a mistake.
That kind of triple double.
It was like.
A triple yeah a triple 14 assist I think 18 rebounds 34 points and seven steals.
Seven steals on top of it.
Nearly a quadruple double.
Unbelievable.
Outstanding game four game win streak for the Hawks here.
Pass in the air.
And Huerter goes up and gets it.
Wow.
What strength by Carson.
Huerter a lot of strength in that little package right there.
And he thumps his chest after making a big time catch.
Fired up.
Here is Carson.
Huerter right here.
Good fine.
Look at that pocket right there.
Step into the throw.
And what a beautiful catch right there.
Hand catch strong hands by this young man going up taking that ball away from Alphonso McNeil.
Huerter has been so big for them this season.
And that has continued into tonight as he's got the Hawks and the Alfa insurance red zone.
Under 3 minutes to play here in the third quarter.
And now a time-out has been called by Mill Creek.
Getting Landon Williams out there late.
Just not able to get the ball off.
Coach Lovelady going for the time-out.
Saved his field position.
But this Hawks offense is really we thought the offensive line there in that first quarter was faltering.
But they have really opened up and had the ability to throw the ball down the field.
Let's take a look at the top five prospects on this Mill Creek roster.
Devin Hamilton of course, the three star who just decommitted from Colorado State, has 17 offers.
Braxton Rembert, the three star linebacker committed to Wake Forest.
Eli Richards, their senior defensive end, committed to Air Force.
Brady Wendt, the junior, has an offer from Miami of Ohio.
Jay Beasley has a couple of offers from Brevard College and Thomas University, Thomas University and Naia School in Thomasville.
North.
And that's the thing we we know now with old JuCo, not counting you can, you know, move around.
Guys like OJ Beasley could easily be on a big time program in 2-3 years playing big time football.
Yeah.
Not have any college eligibility counting against you as you play at junior college.
Thank you.
Diego Pavia ball is thrown complete to Hamilton spin move and Hamilton dragged down at the 14 yard line as Devin Hamilton makes another big catch.
Big touchdown saving tackle there by Alphonso McNeal.
Stop route by Hamilton.
And if he doesn't make this tackle you feel like with the size and speed that Hamilton has, he's going to score right there.
He has a blocker out in front of him.
Big tackle.
There for McNeal.
Brings up second down and four.
Mill Creek trying to get on top of the seesaw.
Score again Reagan heavy rush steps up to avoid it.
Now going to run it now.
He wants to throw it.
He's looking downfield now.
Going to take a sack and the ball is loose.
Scooped up by Colquitt County Reagan gets back up trying to make the tackle.
And J.C.
Moore all the way down the field.
And finally catches up with him at the 15 yard line.
And that's where, unfortunately, the youngster, Anderson Reagan showed his inexperience.
He should have just slid down, kept trying to make the play happen when there was nothing there.
Being too aggressive right here.
Stepped up in the pocket, didn't find anything open right there.
Go get those three or 4 yards here trying to wave the receiver down the field and just too much pressure right there and throwing the ball back.
Great job here by Tamir Moore.
The big defensive end sprinting to the end zone, finally getting a hand on him to pull him out of the bounds right there as Reagan.
But definitely a show of inexperience on that play right there.
Sometimes you just have to take those yards.
Never belly back unless you have Lamar Jackson type speed.
Never belly back.
Just go upfield.
So first and ten for Colquitt County with the ball at the 14 yard line.
Now Mill Creek in a tough spot Lawson goes immediately to the air and Lockett catches it in the corner.
No ball comes out.
That's going to be incomplete.
Broken up back there by Green.
Outstanding job here by Brooks Green Pete on this play.
Corner route here by Lockett.
Great throw and just could not hold on to the ball through the process of the catches here.
Watch how green gets his hand in there and strips the ball down as he's making the tackle.
Basically pulling his arms and hands off the ball as he's making the tackle.
Could not get to the ground before the ball got out.
Great job of recovery there by green.
Second down and ten.
Handoff goes to Lamar and Lamar.
Helmets flying off as the leather is popping.
And now a flag comes out.
That was Braxton Rembert I think who made that tackle.
Jumped in there and stood in front of Lamar.
Didn't let him get the gain.
He said I have to come off.
Somebody having to come off.
Looks like Eli Richards helmet came off, so he's going to have to leave the field of play, at least for one play.
I don't know though.
It looks like they're letting him stay on.
Hands to the face.
Offense 10 yards.
Puts it down.
That's why he.
Gets to stay.
Because it was hands to the face that knocked his helmet off.
Two bad breaks here for Colquitt.
Ball pulled out of Lockett's hand.
A short touchdown taken away by Brooks Green.
And now a hands to the face penalty moving him back here, creating a second and long.
But you can see right there looks like Thomas the right guard hand up into the face of Richards as he tries to drive him back.
Under 90s left in the third quarter.
21 17.
Colquitt County on top.
Ball back now at the 22 yard line.
Second and 18 coming up the line to gain is the five.
Another big, big chunk penalty here on Colquitt County.
Had a bad time.
Lamar makes a cut and another straight up the middle.
Lamar touchdown J Lamar gets it all back and more 22 yard touchdown run to put Colquitt up 27-17 Beautiful blocking up front by the offensive line.
Patience here by Lamar showing you why he's headed to Georgia.
That's an old school kind of draw.
Play nice kick out block by Thomas McCord up front.
Big hole there Jamal Jackson moving his man out of the way.
Great.
Fine jump cut there by Lamar to get into the end zone.
Flashbacks of what Jonathan Taylor did to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday in Berlin.
Watch him coming right at you.
Right here.
Moving the pile.
Good job there by Yingling and Thomas on the combo block.
Big hole.
The jump cut the strength the speed UGA another fine for Coach Smart.
13 carries now 97 yards for Lamar and three touchdowns tonight just 3 yards away from his fifth 100 yard rushing game out of nine this season.
And hats off to coach Calhoun.
Was telling me about Lamar before the game.
He's getting used to being the main guy.
He's been in his career, a guy that's kind of split time.
And now just adjusting to being the bell.
Cobb doing a great job here tonight and kind of willing this offense to the next round.
DBHDD and the new red ribbon 365 curriculum scoring drive.
Only three plays in 14 yards after that big scoop.
And return by Timir Moore after the fumble by Anderson 11 point lead for Colquitt.
Late stages of the third quarter.
Barnes, on the return from the ten and Barnes backpedaling, stopped at the 26.
As we take a look at the top prospects for Colquitt County Packers.
Of course, Jay Lamar at the top of that list, committed to Georgia.
Ricky Fuller, the senior corner, committed to Chattanooga over eight other offers might take a visit here soon to Missouri State.
They're still in the mix.
Alphonso McNeal, the senior safety committed to Tuskegee.
McKenzie Graham really got blown up, as they like to say recruiting wise over the last couple of weeks, junior linebacker with four offers.
Mississippi State just offered.
Josh Alford, junior nickelback.
He's kind of in that Nickelback range.
Offered by Arkansas, State up the Sun Belt Conference.
So first and ten ball sitting at the 26.
Handoff goes to Beasley Beasley on the cutback.
And a nice run by Beasley up to the 38.
That'll be a first down.
Nice cut right there.
Nice find by Beasley.
Getting off that left side Davis.
He'll the big body in his first start over there at left tackle.
And I'm quite sure Jay Beasley looking over there at Jay Lamar.
And he wants some of that action too.
As a running back.
Reagan to the air fires and nearly intercepted overthrew his target.
And it was nearly picked off by Fuller.
I'm not really sure how Rasheed Fuller dropped this interception here.
When you watch Ragon throw it right to him.
I it's fascinating that the ball can be thrown right to you and you drop it and you can see the frustration in his mind sometimes that ball coming towards you, you already see yourself running to the end zone, but just a bad throw right there.
By Anderson Ragon.
So an illegal man downfield call against Mill Creek.
It will be declined by Colquitt County.
With 33 seconds left here in the third quarter.
Handoff goes to Beasley.
Bounces off a man and gets to the outside on the near side.
And Graham McKenzie.
Graham runs it out of bounds.
It's going to be third down.
And gay.
Once again having an impact.
He goes unseen up front.
But the penetration there taking the center Carter Kelly and pushing him back into Beasley just nowhere to run with that football.
Third down and ten.
Mill Creek needs to do something with it here.
They can't afford to give it back to Colquitt now.
Down two scores here.
Getting ready to enter the fourth quarter.
Reagan pocket breaks down a little bit.
Gets it out of there, heaves it deep and incomplete.
Flag comes out.
Going to have a penalty on Colquitt County.
Herder was the target.
And right here for Rasheed Fuller.
Matt he has the right position.
That is his part of the field.
When you watch him, he sees the ball.
He's coming up to make the play on the ball.
And Carson Herder runs right into his chest down the field.
So let's check the penalty call right here.
As you can see stepping up Reagan trying to get it down the field.
Shaheed is making a play on the ball.
He sees the ball and they just kind of get tangled up right there.
Didn't really see any pulling on him before that.
He was turned around.
He was facing the ball.
He was making a play on the ball.
Not even sure that Herder had saw the ball in the air at that point.
But I think you pick up the flag, don't you?
But yeah.
That's the right call.
You pick up the flag.
That was.
Just a call.
That's a football play.
There was no penalty.
There.
It'll be third down.
Good job there by Fuller.
Just what you're supposed to do as a cornerback.
Get your head around.
Make a play on the ball.
It that is your field as well.
That's your ground that you can stand.
And you saw Coach Calhoun come off the sideline and talk to his young man and said, look, you did the right thing.
No problem here.
You did the right thing.
And he gets rewarded because they pick up the flag.
Coach Lovelady, he wants some answers.
Well, anytime.
Anytime you pick up the flag.
Like.
Come.
On now.
Are you telling me you made a mistake?
And he wants someone to come over there and talk to him about this play?
He's he's still standing close to your 36 yard line.
He's not budging.
He's on the field.
He's not letting him snap.
It.
He wants to talk to the white House.
He wants to talk to the white hat.
Line judge.
Now I want to talk to the.
White.
He's reluctantly getting off the field.
He's going to.
Doesn't look like he's going to get his day in court.
Punt line, drive, kick.
Going to be fielded at the 30 by Fuller.
Fuller at the 40 50.
Fuller.
Watch out.
Fuller down the sideline.
Got knocked out of bounds by the punter.
And a flag out at the 44.
Flag on the field.
Man I think the guys realized this was a playoff game and there is no tomorrow.
The pace has picked up, the action is moving.
Guys are making plays.
Well, it's like Coach Calhoun said at halftime when he was talking to Cody.
He says, go in there and talk to our seniors.
Who wants to play in the second round?
Who wants to take that long bus trip again next week?
Because if you don't want to, we don't, you know, we can.
End.
It right here.
Block in the back receiving team 10 yards from the spot of the foul.
First down.
So that erases a great return by Fuller right there.
Let's see where they end up.
Spotting the ball could be way back inside the 35.
Well right on the 35.
So 7 seconds left in the third quarter.
We're gearing up for a fantastic finish here tonight in Houston.
Colquitt brings the offense back out there at 347 total yards tonight.
225 in the air and 122 on the ground.
Jay Lamar, watch out.
Got a head of steam.
There he goes.
Jay Lamar going to house.
It.
Trey Norman fourth touchdown run of the night for Jay Lamar.
Great blocking up front.
Big hole to run through and amazing speed Saturday speed right there.
Showed it.
Good job blocking down Calhoun.
And then just the footrace.
And I'm not sure that anybody on the field on either team can catch this young man in that situation.
But just great blocking on that left side.
McCord Calhoun.
And you give him that kind of room, not having to break stride at any point right there.
Jay Lamar seems to be happy to be in the playoffs.
Huge play by Lamar on the final play of the third quarter.
And as we head to the fourth, Colquitt County pulling away, does Mill Creek have an answer in the last 12 minutes?

Start of the fourth quarter here in Houston 35 17 lead now for Colquitt County as they put the pedal down in the latter stages of that third quarter, Wayne, it all kind of started to unravel when Ragone fumbled that ball on that quarterback sack, and it turned into a big return for Colquitt County.
Yeah, the field position right there.
And they just have exploded.
Since there with Jay Lamar leading the way, running the ball, something we felt like they had an advantage with up front with the offensive line is starting to shine through here late in the game.
14 carries for 162 for Jay Lamar and four touchdowns tonight.
Kick coming down at the 11 yard line.
And the return by Mill Creek dropped at the 24.
Take a look at the DBHDD and the new red ribbon curriculum.
365 scoring drive.
The 65 yard run by Jay Lamar.
If you call that a scoring drive, it was a scoring play and it was a big one.
35 17 now Colquitt on top.
Now.
Gotta wonder if Kirby Smart as his team gets ready for their big showdown with Texas tomorrow night at Sanford Stadium.
Peeking in on this game and watching his four star running back commit put on a performance to be seen.
Yeah, we only, like, 5 miles from Athens.
So why, sure.
Somebody is tuned in to watch this game and he is shining for his next program.
Here's the run by Beasley.
Nice open field tackle stopped by McNeal on the play.
It feels like as this game is going along that his ankle issue with Beasley is getting a little better.
He missed a lot of time with that ankle.
He's had two or three surgeries on it and that's why I feel.
And he has been the offense.
He has carried his team.
The work he put in this season has really paid off for Mill Creek.
Well, he suffered the foot injury initially as a sophomore and a golf cart accident hurt his foot and missed the entire sophomore season because of it.
Now, I don't know whether what we're seeing here tonight is a residual of that.
As Rogan gets buried at the 29 yard line, great closing speed right there by Ruiz.
Ruiz and Powell.
Zach Palmore.
And it seems tonight Stan Luttrell, the coordinator, is putting everybody in the mix.
Watch how Palmore closes.
Ruiz closes right there trying to make it a party.
And Colquitt and just punishing right there on Rogan taking a big hit once again in the open field.
Yeah.
Coach Calhoun could not speak any higher of Lewis than he did when we talked to him this week.
Says, look, when when Braden gets there, his man goes down, gets him on the ground, pass in the middle.
Another big hit leveled at the 28 yard line as Huerter and Palmore knocks him down.
Just playing a little center field here as Palmore.
You can see Reading Morgan's eyes.
He sees where the ball is going and going up to put the big hit on Huerter.
Separating the man from the ball.
Palmore hyping up his side of the stadium.
Is going to be taken by Fuller.
Flag out.
Let's check the penalty call as Fuller goes out of bounds at the 29 yard line.
So we'll check the penalty call right here.
Got a Packer down at the 38 yard line as well.
So we'll go ahead as they're tending to I think that might be Lockett but I don't want to guess.
We'll find out when we come back from the break.

So it will be the Packers Ball.
I think we had we had several penalties called.
One was declined and then one was assessed.
I believe to the Packers at the end of the play.
So that's going to push it back to the 19 yard line.
That's where they'll be on offense.
And it was number 10 McKenzie Graham and not Lockett that got shaken up on the play.
And he's over on the bench right now.
He's had a good game.
Odds are he probably knocked himself out.
Probably the way that he plays.
What a physical young man.
His coach couldn't speak so highly of him about how he plays.
So Packers now on offense.
Let's see if they try to run some clock.
Here.
And they hand it off to Stevenson and Stevenson up to the 24.
Got five on the play as we go under 10 minutes left in this 13517 lead for Colquitt County.
If they hold on and win they'll have another bus ride back and overnight stay hotel stay here in Gwinnett County next week as it looks like they will be playing.
Grayson Grayson had a huge lead on Norcross.
Maybe they'll get to go to top golf.
Again.
Play some top golf, coach Calhoun said.
Team went over, experienced top golf about eight out of ten guys had never swung a golf club.
Run by Stevenson up to the 28 yard line.
So in that sense, it's educational.
Right?
It's an educational field trip.
Beats going to class, right?
Definitely beats going to class.
No matter who you are.
You always love when the field trip came around.
I can still remember my field trips from the.
Third grade.
We went to the Coca-Cola Bottling Company Fernbank the Krispy Kreme donut factory.
That did used to be a big thing going.
To.
Krispy Kreme.
Yeah.
Pass complete out here to Stokes and Jamari Stokes steps out of bounds.
Pass.
Stokes first down.
Colquitt.
Stick around.
Don't go anywhere.
Once we're done here, we'll send it back to our GPB studios with John Nelson and Nikki Noto Palmer.
They're going to get you updated on all the scores from around the state here in the first round of the playoffs tonight.
They'll also have interviews with coaches from all around the state as well.
And we probably will be able to announce our second round broadcast for next week.
So stick around.
That's all coming up after the game tonight from our GPB studios in the post game show, Stokes on the run up to the 38 yard line.
This one's kind of gotten away from Mill Creek a little bit.
You get the feeling that maybe Jay Lamar is done for the night in this situation.
Seems like we're going to get Stokes and Stevenson here at least early on in this drive.
Just trying to milk the clock.
First down, second down.
Most likely going to be runs or safe passes where you can keep the clock going.
Just get a couple of yards.
So you're saying 18 point lead in the fourth quarter 1:62 on the ground and four touchdowns.
He's done his work for.
The night.
I think maybe he's getting ready for the bus trip home.
Another run right there in the middle as they're just trying to burn as much clock as they can.
That was Stokes again on the run.
And both Stokes and Stevenson with Jay Lamar being out a couple of weeks, had productive seasons.
Stokes has four touchdowns.
Over 200 yards on 56 carries.
Stevenson 88 carries came into the game almost 500 yards.
So very capable backup running backs.
Third down.
And Stevenson is now in the game.
Ball is incomplete off the hands of Aldridge.
And it's going to be fourth down.
And Colquitt County had to punt it back.
Once again trying to negotiate a pass over the tall 66 rimbert off the edge.
They're just keeping you trying to throw it.
High ball never came down.
Kind of sailed there on Lawson.
So Colquitt County trying to improve to 3-0 all time against the Hawks in the playoffs.
They first met in the 2010 quarterfinals, and they ended the Mill Creek season that night.
They met again.
And probably the biggest game ever between these two teams in the 2015 semifinals.
Punt by Lanier going to be caught at the 30 and Herder is going to be slung backwards.
Let's see.
They're going to give him forward progress at the 31 and we will step aside as Mill Creek goes back on offense.
They got to score some points and do it in a hurry.

GPB sports broadcast of this game is made possible by supporters of the game, including the National Federation of High Schools.
This high school gym used to be packed most nights.
Not anymore.
Do you know why?
Because bad behavior by fans, especially adults, has caused a shortage of game officials across the country.
You see, without officials, we can't have sports.
Don't let this become reality.
It's time for a change.
Let's bench bad behavior for good.
Welcome back to Houston, where Colquitt County leads Mill Creek 35-17 We are about 4 hours north of Moultrie, Georgia, but it is a homecoming for Colquitt County head coach Sean Calhoun.
He is a proud graduate of Berkmar High School.
He played quarterback there, and he's actually got family.
Still living in Gwinnett County.
They are at the game tonight.
His parents in the stands on Colquitt County side.
And I guess the good news, Matt and Wayne is he might be back up here again in Gwinnett County playing next week.
Yeah, he actually walked on at Valdosta State after playing quarterback in the wing-t at Berkmar.
And get this, when he was a freshman safety, he walked on as a safety at Valdosta.
The Blazers his freshman season, his coaching staff included a young Kirby Smart and Will Muschamp.
Kind of successful coaches right there.
Yeah, a couple of championships.
Playing for coach Chris Hatcher and actually was a member of their 2004 national championship team and then stuck around and was an assistant coach on the 2007 Blazers national championship team.
But highlight of his, time with the Berkmar Patriots back in 1998.
They beat Parkview, and that might be the only time that's ever happened in Berkmar history hasn't happened very often, but the game got a race because they played an ineligible player in Parkview, got the win anyway.
Wow, that is.
I'm quite sure coach, remember every detail of that game is stitched into his memory.
Reagan on the run and looking for a lane and gets it up to the 50 yard line.
Nice run by Anderson Reagan.
Nice job.
Quarterback draw all the way right here.
Interesting call at this point in the game.
This quarterback draw good blocking catching the defense by surprise.
You imagine in these situations you'd be trying to get chunk plays through the air.
Get the ball down the field.
Maybe alleviate some of the hard charging pressure.
And they've been really sending the house at him lately.
But now we're under 6:00 to go.
So those plays are nice.
But you got to get points on the board.
Pass is complete to Hamilton and Hamilton down to the 30.
Hamilton.
That's another.
First down.
It'll be interesting to watch his recruitment going forward as it looks like their season might come to an end here tonight.
He got off to a great start this year and then broke his leg after the second game.
And just recently came back from that.
Big physical receiver right there.
As you can see.
Make a cut good speed tall strong hands.
All the things that you would want in a receiver.
What a big future he has.
Six, five, 206.
Can work with that.
Yes he can.
I can work with that.
That's something we can work with.
Pass thrown behind Huerter that time.
But there's no doubt that, Anderson Ragon is going to be.
A a big time star in this state.
I mean he's got a nice throws a pretty ball.
He makes good decisions.
He made that one bad decision tonight.
And it did come back and bite him.
But he'll learn from that.
Yeah.
Strong arm.
So I'm doing warm up.
Can drop it in that bucket.
Only a sophomore 62.
You could see the size that he's going to be able to put on.
Hard charging rush.
He gets it out of there and it's dropped.
Alvarez had it in the breadbasket popped out.
Nice throw right there.
Just see frustration in Alvarez.
Hit him right in the four.
He's got to catch that ball for your young quarterback.
So now it's third down and ten.
Empty backfield spreading them out on both sides.
Two big targets down here at the bottom in the boundary.
Got protection.
Throws it in there and misses his target I think went was the guy in the middle he was looking for.
And it's going to be fourth down.
There's a flag out.
Grab a flag out.
Going to get a holding call.
I. Holding defense ten yard penalty results in a first down.
That's great for Mill.
Creek.
Keeping the drive alive.
Start feeling like this ball needs to go into the end zone.
These plays need to go into scoring a lot of work to be done.
Down three scores here.
And then you're going to have to start doing some onside kick attempts because you've run out of time to just play it straight up.
Do have three time-outs remaining, so.
That works in your favor.
You hold those for defense.
Reagan clean pocket throws to the outside and Alvarez again was the target.
I don't know what happened there, but it was nowhere close to being completed.
Kind of thinking that might have been on Alvarez.
Yeah, a little short on the pass right there.
Just couldn't step into it.
But you really feel like you got to go more vertical here.
I see Rembert is in the game working in that slot position.
Big Tucker to try to get in a matchup 50 50 ball.
They're going to go towards Rembert.
Jump ball and incomplete.
That was not Rembert.
Pardon me.
That was Hamilton again though.
They were going to.
They had him double covered.
Trying to go to Hamilton in a double coverage situation.
Its time Rasheed Fuller having help over here looking to the lower part of your screen.
Just a go route.
You can see right there fighting and pulling that ball out.
That's a great job by Fuller because Rembert did get his hands on the ball, but he made sure that he could not bring it into the body by getting his hands in there and punching it away.
Third down and ten.
Ragon in the middle.
Man goes down inside the five and there is no flag.
Hamilton was the target.
That was Alford on the coverage and it's fourth down.
Good coverage there.
By Alford.
He allowed that space to break on the ball.
He sees the ball coming kind of running the route for Hamilton right there.
Coach Lovelady did not see it that way.
Wanted a penalty.
Fourth and.
Ten.
Might be the last.
Gasp for Mill Creek to try to get back in this game and have an opportunity in the last 4 minutes.
To the air, and herder and jump ball broken up.
Herder was the target and it was broken up back there at the goal line.
And the ball is going to go over on downs.
That was Luke Strong, who stopped the play in the air.
Colquitt County with the ball likely heading towards the win.
When we get.
Back.

Been a fun game here tonight.
Looks like Colquitt County going to be heading back to Moultrie with a victory, which means they'll be heading back to Gwinnett County next Thursday for another playoff matchup.
And this time, it looks like it'll be the number 2 team in the country.
The Grayson Rams, the defending state champions, awaiting them in the second round as they continue this very difficult playoff path that they're on in this current format.
Like we said in the PSR, seeded one through 32 next year, this would not be the case for them.
First down and ten, but they got to play in the here and now, not in the future.
Play gets blown dead.
False start offense 5 yards.
First down.
Not what you want.
Trying to close this game out by Colquitt.
Coming off the sideline jumping.
Not a lot of crowd noise in this in the stadium at the moment.
Just execute.
Get a couple of first downs to end this game.
So first and 15 now following the penalty.
Handoff goes to Stokes.
Stokes gets driven back.
And that'll eat up enough time to get it under 4 minutes probably before they have to snap it again.
Remember stick around John Nelson warming up his pipes.
They're getting ready to talk for the next 30 45 minutes.
Nikki Palmer there with him.
Right, right, right.
Got some GPB sports bracketology coming your way in the moments ahead as they'll be breaking down the brackets looking at the first round winners and who advances to play in the second round and where they will be playing and where we will be televising next Friday night.
Hope to be able to make that announcement for you before the evening is through, but that will come from John and Nikki tonight.
So.
Dix.
Legendary Malibu Steve Graham producing in the studios tonight.
He's busy.
Tracking down all the.
Coaches.
The author.
He's the author.
Yes.
The author.
That's right.
Not just the legendary producer anymore, but also a book writer.
And we'll turn it over to them in just a few minutes.
Hand off goes to Stevenson.
He gets stonewalled as the clock's going to go under three before they have to punt it back.
This offensive line of Colquitt has definitely done a good job here tonight across the board, opening holes, playing physical as part of what they and the thing they did, they took care in the second half.
They took care of the football.
A lot of mistakes they made in that first half, just chipping the ball over.
But the second half clean football here to get this big lead.
431 yards of offense, 200 of it on the ground and 231 in the air.
And they fake.
It.
Did they fake it or did they make a mistake?
Either way, Mill Creek ends up with the ball at the 15 yard line.
I can't imagine they purposely faked it.
Right there.
I can't imagine the fake was even part of this situation right here.
But the ball definitely was directly snapped right there to the up man.
Josh Alford, who was surprised that the ball was coming to him.
Looks like some mixed signals there.
There is no way that that could have been even in the call sheet of running.
So some wires got crossed, right?
There had to have been the case.
They certainly were not going to try to fake the punt from their own 15 yard line and leave any sliver of a chance for Colquitt County to get back in this game, because you see, there's only 2:17 to go, but there's new life here for Mill Creek.
It's not over yet.
Reagan goes immediately to the air, to Hamilton and Hamilton comes down with it for the touchdown.
And just like that, the Hawks on the board again.
And it's 25 23.
I'm guessing they'll go for two right.
Here.
Once again going to the matchup.
They've been working all night here or gone one on one match up at the top of your screen.
They're just a battle for this ball between Devin Hamilton right there and Osby.
And having the strength and body control to come down with it is Hamilton.
Kind of surprised they're not going for two here to make it a ten point game.
Instead, they'll go for the single p.a.t unless they run a fake out of this.
And the kick is good.
Makes it 35, 24-11 point deficit with 2:08 to go.
What a job of capitalizing on the miscue on the fake punt by Colquitt.
One play going into the end zone.
Working that matchup once again out on the outside with Hamilton.
So very interesting development right here.
Mill Creek has not attempted an onside kick all season long, but they're about.
To.
Here we go.
Matt.
If we can get this ball back.
Mill Creek showing you the ability they can make the big play down the field with Hamilton and hurt her all night long, has teamed for Colquitt.
Just have to remember the rules.
Ball have to go 10 yards.
If ever in doubt, just throw the ball out of bounds.
Don't try to feel it.
Just throw it out of bounds.
You don't have to actually fall on the ball.
Just pat it out of bounds and the ball is yours.
So here comes an onside kick.
There was a big upset in 6-A tonight as an undefeated.
Got knocked out in the first round.
Stick around for the GPB sports postgame show.
John and Nikki will have full details on that as Colquitt County covers the onside kick at the 49 yard line.
Good job there.
Alfonzo McNeil up on that front line.
Ball just didn't bounce.
Always the key on the onside kick.
Trying to get the ball to bounce in the air and give the coverage team time to get down there.
So Colquitt County looks like they will advance.
And play at Grayson in the second round.
They've had a tremendous history.
Of course, 2015 the pinnacle of their success when they not only won the state championship for a second consecutive year, but finished as the national champions 15-0 They beat Mill Creek on this field in the semifinals that year.
En route to that national championship.
Three state championships as well in their great history and now trying to get back to that and do it the hard way here in 2025 by doing it on the road.
But they're going to get an opening win here in the playoffs tonight.
So that will make 17 wins out of their last 18 first round attempts.
Clock goes down close to 130.
We're in a range here where we probably need to snap it.
Just one maybe two more times to finish this one out and stick around.
We will be naming our Georgia Cotton Commission player of the game, and Cody Chaffins will be talking with Coach Calhoun and our player of the game as well.
Coming up in just a few moments.
So stick around for that and then it's John and Nikki in the studios with the scores, including that big 6-A upset tonight.
They'll have details on that and interviews with coaches.
Under a minute to go and a third down and eight coming up.
I think they're going to have to snap it.
Just one more time.
They're watching the play clock.
It now gets to seven.
And this might be the final play of the season for Mill Creek.
Hand off goes to Stokes and that will do it.
The coaches start creeping onto the field.
The players with them behind him going to form the handshake line.
And this one's done.
And Colquitt County advances with a 35 24 road victory over Mill Creek.
The Packers, now 9-2 on the season and will play at number 1, ranked Grayson in the second round next Friday night.
They'll head back to Gwinnett County next.
Week.
Mill Creek season comes to a close at seven and.
Four.
Very balanced win here tonight.
Offensively being able to throw the ball some chunk plays.
Running the ball.
The defense responding when need be.
Really outside the turnovers.
Solid team win for this.
Colquitt Packer team.
And for Georgia Bulldog fans who were wondering about J. Lamar.
He's back.
He is definitely back and has shown the ability to go to running back.
Hugh, as I like to call it up there in Athens they seem to always keep some guy that can destroy my Auburn Tigers, but but what a young performance.
This man J. Lamar put on here tonight for his coaching team.
Nice package of size and speed.
And he put it all on display tonight.
14 carries for 162 yards and four touchdowns.
As Colquitt County defeats Mill Creek for the third time in the state playoffs, now they get the big Bad Boys.
Grayson.
Long bus trip home.
Long trip back up here.
But they're not going to be worried about that.
They're just caught up and they're moving to the next round.
The next opponent and try to figure out how to take down the mighty Grayson team.
Time now for our postgame interview.
It is brought to you by Johnny's New York style pizza.
Cody.
All right.
Here with Sean Calhoun, you come up 4 hours from Moultrie and get the job done.
4 hours.
That's probably a little bit more than that.
With Atlanta traffic.
For everybody to know.
That was not a fake punt.
That's a fake punt.
For some reason, we snap it to the up back.
We're just kicking the ball and trying to get home before before the sun rises.
You know, great win.
So proud of these guys.
How they handled the travel maturely.
Business like that's a really good football team.
And it took a long time for us to kind of settle in and play our game.
Still, way too many mistakes, but proud of him.
Proud of all them kids in the Hall White tonight.
Yeah, I do want to ask you.
I can break the news to you, Grayson.
Winners tonight.
So you'll be back in Gwinnett County next week.
What kind of road warrior mentality is it going to take?
That exact thing?
We talk all year that you got to find ways to win games on the road, whether you have every game at home.
Game 15 is on a road, right?
So we put ourselves in this, you know, three seed predicament.
So we got to find a way to do the same thing.
But it starts with practice, right?
Healing up practice.
Obviously they're really good.
Hadn't seen one snap.
I just know the headlines I know they have good coaches good players.
But we're going to celebrate this.
This was this was this was much needed for us in our community.
All praise and glory to my Lord and Savior for sure.
Talk about Jay a little bit.
It's been a roller coaster year for him, but he comes out on the biggest stage of the season so far.
He shows himself.
Roller coasters are fun.
You know, but there's a lot of ups and downs and that's life.
And that's Jay.
And look where he is right now.
And he led us to a great victory.
He's a great teammate.
He loves this place.
He loves this community.
I love him he's been through a lot.
You know what I mean?
It's been it's been a it's been a road.
And let's just continue this thing.
But I'm proud of him.
I'm proud of everybody in that locker room.
All right, thank you, coach.
And where he is right now is the Georgia Cotton Commission player of the night.
Let's get the logo right.
Here's the hat.
You can throw that hat on if you want to.
Jay Lamar 14 carries 162 yards and four touchdowns tonight.
What got into you?
Yeah.
I kind of figured that I had to, you know, make up from, you know, not being here in two weeks.
I felt like that my team dominated the line of scrimmage, and I felt like they opened up holes for me to do what I did.
For you guys.
You have to come so far away from home, you know, you're going to have to do it again next week.
What kind of mentality does it take to to come up here and get this done?
Like it's a dog eat dog world?
You know what I'm saying?
Hey, may the best dog win.
I know Grayson going to be ready, and we're going to be ready for them.
Looking forward to that next week.
He mentioned dog a couple times.
He's a UGA commit, J. Lamar, our Georgia Cotton Commission player of the game.
As Colquitt County gets the big win tonight over Mill Creek.
Moving on to round two Matt.
The Georgia Cotton Commission Player of the game Georgia Cotton Commission, the natural choice for Georgia.
And Jay Lamar, the natural choice for the Georgia Bulldogs, won 60-2 on the ground and a big win for Colquitt County tonight in a 35 24 victory over Mill Creek.
As the Packers advance and will play Grayson.
The Hawks season comes to a close.

I'm Matt Stewart once again, Colquitt County advances 35 24.

You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh, hey what's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket.
And you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.
So why would you drive a car while distracted driving isn't a game when you lose on the road, it could lead to a crash.
So when you get behind the wheel, put the distractions aside, drive hands free, and save lives.
Heads up Georgia.

Jada is a great program player.
She's the epitome of what you want as a teammate and as a player.
She's just going to do what she has to do to the best of her ability, and that's how she leads.
Probably be easier to say what she doesn't do.
She plays about every sport that's offered.
I play four sports softball, flag football, basketball, track.
But I think it just shows just how special she is that she can excel, not just participate in, but excel at every sport that she plays.
All right.
Welcome in to our Football Friday in Georgia post game show presented by Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
Parking your phone while driving John saves lives, but.
Not when you're doing highlights and scores.
Heads up Georgia.
All right, we're going to need you guys to have your heads up and buckle up, because you are in for a very special treat.
The post game show is going to have all the things the fun, the chaos, the shows, the scores, the brackets.
Yes, everything.
And Leon, quickly go ahead and we got a fuel.
Nikki up here for the duration.
So if you would, please.
Thank you very much.
There you go, Nick.
This is the best ever.
Nick's ready to.
Go, Coach Calhoun.
You're gonna be so upset.
I gotta send you one back to Moultrie.
Speaking of Moultrie, coach Calhoun and the Packers, they're going to have a happy for hour ride home, he said.
Hopefully, they're going to get there before the sun comes up.
But what an impressive play.
Specifically in the second half by the Packers.
Jay Lamar.
We know why he was featured at the half from our friends at you Save it.
We know why the University of Georgia is looking for talent like Jalen Moore.
And he is what we refer to in some circles as a bad man.
And it was a great performance by him today.
And there's a reason that he got the towel and the and the the towel and the hat before the end of it all.
All right.
So we that was the first game that we've gotten the final score.
But John, there are 134 other teams that are also going to have happy rides home tonight.
Yes there are.
And we can go through the 6-A bracket or we can catch up with the coach.
Just let me know when coach is ready and we're gassed up.
Ready to go.
All right.
Let's let's take a peek at 6-A.
Colquitt.
We know where they're going.
They're coming back here next week.
They're going to play Grayson at Grayson.
Who beat Norcross tonight.
The rest of that bracket, we can fill in.
Harrison beat Marietta by ten as the two seed.
They're going to go to Carrollton.
Carrollton knocked off North Forsyth 58 14.
Collins Hill and Lowndes.
That one started late because it's a South Georgia start 8:00.
That one's third and fourth quarter.
That winner is going to take on North Gwinnett.
They're going to travel north.
And Little Birdie told me we might be catching up with some folks at North Gwinnett in a bit.
Hillgrove and West Forsyth, we know about that one.
Hillgrove wins by three.
They're going to go to West Forsyth who won by 21 right hand side of the bracket.
We can fill those in as well.
East Coweta a winner over Denmark Walton the upset of the night in 6-A 28 24 over McEachern.
Brookwood doubled Archer waiting on Dacula and Valdosta.
That one once again 8:00 start in South Georgia.
Douglas County beat Lambert.
North Cobb is winning big against Paulding County.
Newton beat Peachtree Ridge.
They're going to go to Buford to take on Richmond Hill.
And that is 6-A Nick.
6-A.
Well, lucky for us, we've got someone from the 6-A bracket, a family friend of the show, Eric Godfrey.
Welcome and congratulations on the big win over South Gwinnett.
That's right.
Yes.
Thank you so much.
Family friend.
Love that.
Yes.
He is an he's a friend of GPB.
So break it down for us.
Since we didn't get the chance to see all of it.
What was it like out there tonight?
Winning by 33 over Brian Lamar in the comets?
Yeah.
So.
And Coach Lamar had his team ready.
It was it was a early struggle for us especially first quarter.
We finished the second quarter.
Very well.
Went into halftime up 2110.
We actually were down 10-7 there beginning of second quarter.
Like I said, we finished third, finished the second quarter.
Well up 21-10 and came out in the second half and in the third quarter really scored.
We jumped up jumped up very well in third quarter.
Executed really well on offense.
Executed well on defense.
And like I said, it's kind of been a while since we've really been, you know, that challenged.
And like I said, Coach Lamar had his team ready.
And it was a good challenge for us.
I was going to say challenge, but still rolling on all cylinders.
Looking to the next week into round two, what might be the areas that you're going to focus on and practice this week to help you get better.
, right?
For sure.
We had to play some adversity, some, you know, a few kids out of position or just from, you know, from injuries and sicknesses and all that kind of stuff.
So so we got to share those things up and make sure if we get we, we got some guys out of position, make sure they are ready because Lowndes brings a heck of a punch with them.
Well, okay.
He said it.
We didn't say it, John.
Well, yeah, I mean.
Eric said it.
Hey, look, look, Eric, if you got Intel, we'll take your Intel on a final score now.
I mean, my phone can only do so much.
And, like, you see the smoke coming off of this thing.
I had to recharge.
This hearing.
2018.
Right now, it's not a final, but.
Okay.
I love it.
Okay.
He brought it up.
So we're gonna roll with it.
All right.
So let's just pretend that you're facing.
We're gonna pretend second round with you.
Now.
Yeah.
Adam and Lowndes next week.
What kind of challenges do you feel like the Vikings are going to bring to the table that either you've seen or you haven't seen thus far?
Right.
No.
For sure.
I mean, they're a great full overall, well, well coached team.
Athletic team, a fast team.
You know, they've got a quarterback that's, you know, highly ranked, highly ranked quarterback a big offensive line.
And you know, all season long really us and Lowndes both been kind of ranked four or 567 like all season long in the state.
So so big matchup between between us and Lowndes for a second round matchup.
We're thankful they get to come to us.
I've played there twice before and it was not a good result for me.
It's a it's a tough place to go down there and play.
So but like I said, we're expecting, you know, they got a pretty high, high powered offense.
And again with their quarterback and that big offensive line, they have and then defensively wise they're not as big.
But they got they can move and run and they get the ball fast.
And you know they play the game the game.
Right.
So it's going to be our biggest challenge of the season so far.
All right.
Well you said Lowndes is coming to you coach.
You might want to you might want to clean those facilities.
So that's all I'm gonna say.
Thanks for coming on the postgame show.
We look forward to following you and your playoff journey and hopefully we'll see you soon.
Yeah.
Thank you so much.
Yes.
Let's go.
All right.
Be good.
All right.
That's Coach Godfrey, big winner tonight.
And we'll keep an eye on what's going on in 6-A with what's going on in South Georgia.
All right, let's turn the page 5-A bracket, and let's find out what's going on there.
Yeah, big old full screen.
Hit me with 15-0 five.
Here we go.
Statesboro a winner tonight over hab central in Mount Airy.
They advance and they're going to go to Woodward Academy next week.
Billerica gets a late score to distance themselves from Northgate.
They win by ten.
They're going to go to Thomas County Central who put 73 on Woodstock tonight.
Still waiting on Clark Central and Effingham County.
Roswell put 51 on Chamblee, Newnan and New Manchester.
That one's back and forth.
We'll keep an eye on that one for you.
Winner of that one gets to go to Sequoyah, who beat Coffey by 17.
Right hand side of the bracket.
Lee County and Sprayberry.
That one's back and forth.
Hughes was beating East Paulding heading into the fourth quarter.
Gainesville and Dunwoody.
That one has been Gainesville putting up a number as well.
And what I'm going to do, I'm going to skip low right quickly.
Houston County in Rome, that's going to be next week.
Milton and Jackson County is going to be next week, which leaves one game on the board.
The dose of Winder-barrow and Brunswick.
And for that we go down to the coast and catch up with double G, Grady Grady, who went up against the Double G's.
The double G's tonight in Winder-barrow.
And I mean, coach, I heard that you just scored again.
Game's over and you just scored again.
Is that right?
Well, can we hear you.?
There he goes.
Hey, there he is.
There he is.
All right our guys really just came out and executed tonight, you know?
And and it started this week in practice.
And I'm really proud of our coaching staff and just our team, just the resiliency and the sacrifices that they've made.
You know, I'm I'm really proud of them.
So when you look at what you've been able to accomplish this year, I don't know if folks sit there and say, well, because he's on the coast, they haven't had a lot.
You haven't been able to to get a lot of eyes on you this year.
Have you been kind of doing this in secret?
Are you one of those big secrets in 5-A across the board, just because you're tucked away on the coast?
Or are folks noticing what you're doing there with the Pirates?
I mean, guys, guys are making plays.
We got some really good players, some really good coaches.
You know, and they've continued to excel this year and just really put the team first.
You know, I think the opportunities that we've had this year and the success that we're having is because our guys really care about each other and the and just they keep putting the team first.
And when that happens, you know, the achievements and accomplishments and all the accolades go to the guys.
But they're really they really, truly care about each other.
And really proud of this team and really proud of this coaching staff.
All right coach well, looks like the Red elephants will be coming to town.
What's your first reaction knowing that Josh Niblett and Company is your next opponent?
I mean yeah, they're they're a great team.
You know they have a great coaching staff.
And Coach Niblett is well known.
So they're coming to Glen County Stadium and we gotta be prepared for them because they're a really good football team.
They do a lot of things well.
And it's going to be a great game, you know?
And it's between the bricks right here in Glenn County Stadium.
And and we're excited for the opportunity.
Coach, real quick with that many points.
I mean, did you reach full depth on your roster tonight?
Did everyone get in.
Did you get to enjoy it.
At all?
Did you get to play?
Did you step on the field?
I still got one good play left in me, you know?
But our our guys are doing a really good job.
Yeah.
I mean, a lot of talent on the perimeter, you know, a lot of weapons.
And our guys did a really good job with our offensive line, you know, opening some running lanes for our two running backs.
And the pass protection was there.
So a lot of credit goes to that O-line.
And that's where it all starts in the trenches.
And then defensively got some turnovers.
You know special teams did a good job recovering some onside kicks and giving us some real real good field position.
So all around three phases of the game contributed to the win.
All right well outstanding job coach.
Thanks so much for joining our postgame show.
Good luck in round two against Gainesville.
We can't wait to watch to see how your journey unfolds.
I appreciate y'all and what y'all do for high school football.
And as always, go pirates.
There you go.
There you go.
Double G Garrett Grady beats the double G's tonight in Winder Barrow.
I guess that means we have to go to break right?
That's right.
We're about to head to a break, but stick with us.
Don't go anywhere.
You can use the restroom.
That's about it.
Because we'll have more coaches.
On your sandwiches.
More scores.
And of course, we'll get some more brackets.
Stick with us right here on GPB.
We'll be right back.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
All right, what do you think, Jasper?
Honestly, I think that polyester shirts affecting your game.
What?
I think cotton would have been a better choice.
Cotton?
Yeah, it's come a long way.
You know, nowadays, cotton breeze and wicks moisture.
Great.
Plus, buying cotton means supporting Georgia farmers.
I think that's wonderful.
Okay, sure.
But what do you think about the putt?
Oh, it's really hadn't thought about it.

Welcome in to our Football Friday in Georgia Post game show presented by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, parking your phone, John.
While driving a save lives.
All right.
I hear we have got a Walton Raider on the line.
Yeah, perhaps.
He's on the bus.
Yeah.
Check it out.
These are the coach.
Check that out.
On the way home.
All right, see you guys.
We we heard that our producer, Steve, was trying to get the best shot.
Best angle of you.
The framing on the bus.
Do you feel like.
Are you comfortable?
Are you good?
I'm good.
We got a W. I'm good.
We're still dancing.
Yeah.
Okay.
You you got a w?
We heard we missed an incredible game.
We were following it online.
Congratulations.
What's your immediate reaction with that big win?
I'm just super proud of our guys.
They've just stuck with, you know, following our process throughout the season.
We've had some ups and downs, but they've just matured along the way.
And hats off to our players.
They just executed flawlessly tonight and played their tails off.
Super proud of them.
You mentioned all those ups and downs and I mean, I imagine that there's a lot that you can learn about yourself in a situation like this.
You come into the seat, you come into the playoffs at 5-5 I know that you learn a lot about yourself in both the wins and the losses.
In an upset win like this, what did you learn about yourself other than being able to say that they stuck with the process and knew what the plan was and all that kind of stuff?
What else do you think you learned about yourself tonight?
I think we found ways to win.
The moments that we didn't find ways earlier in the season to win.
You know, we lost a last second field goal to Roswell.
We lost a double overtime game to Marietta and we just couldn't close out moments of the game that mattered the most.
Tonight we stepped up and did that.
And that's what you got to do to win games in the playoffs.
And you know, I just think our group is resilient.
And they proved that they can finish a game.
I think this is our most complete game we've played all season long.
And it showed on the scoreboard.
Coach with East Coweta on deck.
What do you build upon this week to get them ready for that game?
What's going to be your message to the team?
Just going right back to work.
You know, our job is to continue to play.
We're trying to play all the way through Thanksgiving and take this as deep as we can.
So, you know, I think for for our kids, they're hungry.
They're excited.
We went 21 days without playing a football game.
And the way they showed up and played tonight was pretty impressive.
We had to deal with that last year, and we got off to a slow start and just was too little, too late, and this year I think we handled those 21 days a whole lot better.
So now it's making sure we manage these next seven days the right way.
As always coach, great to see you.
Show us what's behind you there on the bus.
We spent all this time with the framing.
Let's see what's going on on the bus.
Hey.
I love it.
That's the kind of stuff that we love to see.
Congratulations.
A four seed getting the Duke at McEachern safe drive home.
Good luck next week when you travel down to Sharpsburg.
Thanks for dropping by on the post game show.
Thanks so much.
Go, Raiders.
Big win for them tonight.

Long County and Westside spell Ludowici for me.
No, I still can't.
Ludowici Long County.
The blue tide taking on Westside Augusta.
That was a tight game.
Fourth quarter North Clayton and Lagrange will play tomorrow because everyone in that footprint has one stadium to go to.
So North Clayton and Lagrange is tomorrow.
Troup has played there, Callaway has played there.
Mount Zion, Jonesboro and North Hall.
North Hall was north of 60 points going into the fourth quarter.
Hit me with another one.
Tell me where we're going.

Cook kind of turned that one into a defensive game.
Slowed North Murray down North Murray gets the win and they'll get the winner of Sumter County in Kidd.

Got some breathing room late beat Franklin County.
So Callaway now travels to Thompson.
Winners 147.
Tonight Columbia beat East Jackson by two touchdowns.
They host Burke County next week in DeKalb County.
Franklin Stephens crew put 57 on Sonoraville Laney and LFO.
Laney is on the road.
They were winning in the fourth quarter in the mountains.
Winner of that one goes to Rockmart to take on Biff Parson and the Yellow Jackets.
They won 50-20 tonight.
In that game in the opening round as well.
So next one on the board hit me with something.
Where are we going?
I think we're going to private.
We're going to add one.
We're going to one is where we're going.
Ten 0-5 there was there was a big upset.
Oh we're going, we're, we're going private or 81.
Where are we going.
81 stay on the board.
Yes.
The upset of the night in upset territory.
This is like a one beating a 16.
Jasper County advanced.
Pepperell advanced.
Pepperell goes to Monticello next week.
Rabun County 56 on Dodge.
But we focus low right Jackson Dean, a team 3-7 as the 31 seed goes to Lamar County in Barnesville and gets the win.
Signature win for the 31 seed in 81, knocking off Lamar County 7-0 So Berrien goes from Nashville as the 31 to the mountains to take on Rance Gillespie next week.
Biggest upset on the board tonight in a D one.
You good.
You need some water before we bring on another coach.
Well go ahead and go ahead and start talking to the coach I'm going to get some water.
How about.
That okay.
Let's do that.
Coach green.
Coach Queen.
Sorry.
Where's Shane?
There he is I can't read, I need my glasses on.
Put your glasses on then.
Coach Queen North Cobb, how are we feeling?
Feeling good.
After that win.
He listen every time we talk to you postgame, you're always on the field.
And I love it.
It's become your thing.
Do you know that?
I didn't know that.
But I'm still out here working, trying to clean this field up.
Hey.
Whoa, whoa.
So, wait, you have how much assistance do you have in cleaning up this field?
Shane.
We have 17.
But if I'm not out here working, then nobody will.
So I always tell our players and coaches, I'm not going to ask you to do something I'm not willing to do myself.
So I'm out here helping them.
Just checking.
Just wanted to see what kind of support that you were having.
All right.
Break it down for me tonight.
You put up a big offensive number.
What was it like to see the offense hum the way that it did against Paulding County?
Well, I'll tell you what it was great to see, but we started off the game as bad as you can.
You know, we had a we had a fumble on the opening kickoff.
Didn't take care of the football and we held them on defense, made a great stop.
And then we fumbled the first play from scrimmage and we gave them two drives.
And inside our 30.
But our defense did a great job holding them and we scored 36 straight.
So I think we scored on seven straight possessions.
So very proud of the offense.
But the defense played extremely well.
And also Michael Hill, our kicker, and Castro Caleb Castro put every ball in the end zone, which is makes it hard for offense to go 80 yards on us.
Man.
Give us some love to the specialists.
Love special.
Teams.
Hit me.
Coach, did you learn anything new about your team tonight?
About their identity, what they're made of?
Did you see anything that that you really liked in them tonight?
Well, I learned you know, we've got a very young football team, but they're growing up and they're getting better every week.
You know, some guys that hadn't played a lot of varsity football early on in the season.
And that's something that was mentioned by the head coach of our opponent tonight saying we scrimmaged them to start the season in the fall scrimmage.
He said, man, coach, you guys have gotten so much better throughout the season.
And that's what I want our kids to get better every day, and they've done that.
They've done everything we've asked and now we've got a great opponent.
And Douglas County, who knocked us off last year in the second round.
So we've got we've got our work cut out for us.
I was going to say your work is cut out with you, Douglas County.
What do you what do you see with them that you're really going to hone in, to try to what?
What would be the keys to the game in Douglas County that you can think of right now?
Well, they're loaded with talent.
You know, you can't take away one guy because they're they're great all across the board.
They they've done well getting kids to get into that school, obviously.
And we've just got to play good sound football.
There's very few people that come in to our stadium and just beat us because they're better, which they do have a lot of great players.
A lot of time it's to our own demise and we make mistakes, and that's happened early on in the year one game, we had four turnovers and 12 penalties.
You can't beat anybody by doing that.
So we're going to focus on the little things, taking care of the football, focus on what we can do to get better and hopefully not beat ourselves.
North Cobb North Cobb 64 20 winners tonight over Paulding County and the one for Douglas County.
Travels to the reservation in Emory Sewell next week.
Shane, always great to see you my friend.
Thanks for dropping by the post game show.
Yes, sir.
Thanks for having me.
We got a lot of happy mamas.
Everybody got to play tonight, so nobody left here mad.
There you go.
That way.
You make those mamas happy, coach.
Yes.
Keep the mamas happy.
All right.
Be good.
There he goes.
All right.
So low.
Right.
We can fill in our entire 6-A bracket.
By the way, everything is final.
We'll let you know about it when we come back from break Football Fridays post game show continues after this.
We're still going.
We're still going.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh hey what's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket and you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.
So why would you drive a car while distracted?
Driving isn't a game when you lose on the road, it could lead to a crash.
So when you get behind the wheel, put the distractions aside, drive hands free, and save lives.
Heads up Georgia.
Saying TV is just playing with great technique.
You know you don't got to be the fastest guy.
You don't got to be the most physical guy.
You just got to be a technician.
Well, keep your eyes down.
You won't move your feet.
You want to get hands on receivers.
And I. Think.
Sometimes it's.
Not the plays.
That he makes.
It's the impact.
That.
He has.
With with covering somebody where they.
Won't throw the ball to.
Him.
I have a lot of eyes on me.
I understand that, and I feel like I do well with it.
So, you know, just doing the right thing all the time, even when nobody's watching.
Just keeping that good habit.
So I'm gonna continue to work hard, continue to be doing what I'm doing, and just let my work show on Friday.
All right.
Welcome in to our football Friday in Georgia post game show presented by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
Parking your phone while driving saves lives.
Heads up Georgia.
Post game shows, as always to.
All right.
So John, let's go ahead and let's get into finishing the 6-A bracket is complete.
Yep.
6-A bracket is done.
Colquitt heads north again, plays Grayson.
Next week Harrison travels to Carrollton to take on the Trojans.
Lowndes over Collins Hill by the score of 37 16.
They're going to travel to Tom Robinson next week to take on North Gwinnett, Hillgrove and West Forsyth.
Hillgrove travels to West Forsyth next week.
East Coweta, the three seed hosting Walton.
You heard from Daniel Bruner just a second ago.
Walton is the four upsets.
McEachern is the one.
They travel to Sharpsburg next week.
Brookwood as the two travels to Valdosta, who doubled dacula tonight by the score of 56 28.
Low right.
We just had Shane Queen on North Cobb, who put 64 on Paulding County host Douglas County Newton, who beat Peachtree Ridge, travels to Buford.
That is it for 6-A and that is a completed bracket on the night.
Love it.
All right.
Our another bracket.
Well, right now we've got a 5-A coach on the line.
My neighbor Coach Thompson, the Roswell Hornet.
What's up coach.
How y'all doing.
How are you.
Congrats on the big 51-6 win over Chamblee.
How are we feeling.
We're feeling good.
We just got done with.
Our staff.
Meeting and.
They got out of here.
So now I came in here and told y'all.
Wait.
Okay, so you're going to talk to us.
Let's get right to it.
All right.
Clark central won in a nail biter.
That's who your playing next week.
I see you've got your pen right there.
What's the game plan?
Go ahead and tell us we're ready for it.
Well we just got to be us, right?
We told our kids at halftime about being who we are.
And you know, continuing to get better at things that we've talked about over the last two weeks.
So, you know, I think at the end of the day, it sounds cliche, but when we worry about Roswell, we're pretty good.
We worry about other people.
We're not as good.
So I think as long as we come to work Monday, worried about fixing us we're going to have a good chance to win next Friday.
So, John, this week I got to catch up with coach up at the school, and he was telling me how much that this team just truly loves each other.
Coach, when you get in the playoff run, how much does that matter?
A lot, right?
When you you know, I've been doing this a long time.
And I told them pregame the ones that play the longest during this time of year are the ones that can stay connected through the tough times, because it's not going to be easy, right?
Especially in 5-A.
And that that bracket that John's looking through here and you guys are looking through all the time.
There's a lot of really good football teams.
And right now we got a chance for a 16 teams going forward this week.
And I think the ones that can find ways to stay connected during the hard times and just play the next play, those are the ones that play.
And we got a group that they're going to do that.
And I'm excited about it.
Coach.
They've done that.
You guys are 10-1 And it's your first season as head coach for the Roswell Hornets.
What can you credit to that success and such an unbelievable run.
And like you said in that tough region.
Yeah there's not one thing that's a culmination of a lot.
It's a great administration and a great school.
That has a lot of tradition, right?
When you play at Roswell, you expect to win.
These kids have won for a long time, and feeder programs.
And when you when you combine a special senior class like we've got with a great administration, a good school great community behind you, I think you got the makings for something special.
So we're going to enjoy these seniors as long as we got them.
And you know, the most we can have them for is about 28 more days.
So I just told our guys in the staff meeting a minute ago, you better make sure that you you enjoy these 28 days or as long as we can play with this group, because you don't have this all the time.
No doubt about it.
Congratulations on the big win there in your first season up there at Roswell.
Keep an eye on you.
Great to see you and great to sit next to your neighbor.
Thanks for dropping by here on the post-game show.
Thank you all for what you all do.
There we goes.
Thanks, coach.
See, I think we have the magic.
He has to be your neighbor and he keeps winning as a coach.
I mean, listen, where I live, it's a hotbed for for high school football.
No doubt.
Yeah.
The house is a hotbed for.
There you go.
Football.
All right, let's go to the quad bracket and we'll show it in full.
Let you know what we know.
Upper left hand corner where County beat Flowery Branch tonight in a 32.
So Jason Strickland and the Gators go on the road get the win.
Creekside and Dalton Creekside was winning by a great margin.
We don't have a final score on that one yet.
Lithonia advanced beating Griffin.
Great season for coach Goodrum there.
And the winner of that one gets the winner of Centennial.
Locust Grove Centennial was winning.
So Lithonia could be hosting by the end of the night.
Low left is full.
Warner Robins a winner.
Cartersville a winner.
Southwest DeKalb a winner.
Kell a winner.
So it is Warner Robins at Cartersville, southwest of Cabot.
Kell, Cambridge over Ola tonight.
So Cambridge is the two they advance to take on Tucker or central Carroll Mason Cass get the winner of East Forsyth and Benedictine.
So the winner of Mason Cass goes to the coast.
Benedictine won by 35.
Low right.
Blessed Trinity and Stockbridge was a back and forth Marist shut out stars mill waiting on Hiram and MLK.
Tyler Arndt and Perry 31 15.
The final.
The defending champs get the win in that one, so we're catching up with Gary Fisher at Locust Grove to find out about his season there at Locust Grove, and what it meant to get a region title.
And the big matchup tonight against Centennial.
And I know that you and I have caught up this season at points.
But you know, coach, what has this season meant to the Locust Grove community.
This season was huge for.
Locust Grove community.
It was it was huge for our program.
You know, our.
Kids rallied all season.
And.
Then again, to win the region championship, that's something that's never.
Been done in Locust Grove history.
It was huge.
So it's.
Inspiring to our community.
So when you've got a program like this and I know that you spent most of your time in the college ranks, and you wanted to be in a place where you could make your mark, where are you in that journey right now?
Where where are things?
A couple of seasons in for what you've been able to build there at Locust Grove?
Well, I mean, this this is my.
Fourth year at Locust Grove.
I knew it would take some time to build the program.
Establish a work ethic and build a culture.
And we've been able to do that over.
The.
Past four years.
Our community has been greatly involved.
Our parents have been greatly involved, and our our players have been greatly invested into turning this thing around.
And, you know, winning the region championship, going 91.
You know, and hosting the first round playoff game is just the first step.
To us continue to establish Locust Grove as a, as a real program.
And we thank you for everything that you've done down there in that program.
And thanks for dropping by on the first round of the playoffs.
I know it was a tough night for you, but we can't thank you enough for dropping by, and we appreciate what you're doing down there at the Locust Grove program.
Thanks for dropping by the post game show.
All right.
I appreciate you guys.
Thanks a lot.
All right.
That is the rundown at Locust Grove with the with the game against Centennial.
Centennial, 28 21 winner there.
We can go to class A, we can go to class A, Division one and Division two.
Let's start off with the 81 and let you know what's happening there.
Because most of that can be filled in.
We mentioned that big upset with Berry and I want to go through it just a little bit.
So 81 you've got heard County the number 1 team.
They get a big win tonight.
They're going to be taking on Social circle.
Social circle is going to be going to Franklin Fitzgerald a win tonight Dublin was winning in that matchup as well for that one.
So Fitzgerald it looks like they're going to be traveling to Dublin.
Fannin County loses tonight at northeast Macon Chad Cheatham's coaching career comes to an end.
He's retiring after this season in the 528.
And so Northeast Macon is going to host Swainsboro.
Thomasville.
They as the 13 shut out Putnam County tonight by the score of 38-0 they're going to travel to Toombs County.
So Thomasville and Toombs next week.
Low left and 81.
That one's going to be a fun match up in round number 2.
Another fun matchup.
Upper right, Worth County.
They won as the three, beating McNair.
Bleckley beat Jeff Davis by 19.
Bleckley travels to worth next week.
Elbert County over Oglethorpe County.
That one was 24-0 Towers was losing to Gordon Lee in the 627, so it looks like Elbert might be traveling from Elberton to Chickamauga next week.
They're going to leave tomorrow for that matchup.
Low, right?
Once again, Jasper County, the winner.
They're going to travel.
They're going to host Pepperell in Monticello.
Rabun County is going to host Berry in the upset of the night.
In all classifications.
Berry in the 31 knocking off Lamar County.
The 282.
Let's go there and let you see what's going on in that one.
This one's pretty much full as well.
It is Warren County over Mitchell.
So Warren as the two seed goes to Wheeler County, remember the Alamo, Manchester and Warren County get that opportunity in these first two weeks.
ECI a winner as the two.
They're going to go to Homerville to take on clinch low left.
Sligh County a winner tonight.
They're going to host the winner of Jenkins and Wilco upper right.
Screven shuts out Glasscock.
They're going to host the winner of Charlton and Macon Mount Zion Carroll gets the win.
Brad Gordon's crew goes to the second round.
They're going to take on either Green or early low right.
Brooks County and Johnson County.
This is not a matchup that should happen in the second round.
Matt Stewart would tell you as much.
Brooks County beats Taylor, and Johnson County is going to host them in Wrightsville next week.
Hawkinsville 24 21 winners over Tryon, Lincoln County over.
So Lincoln County over.
Randolph-clay 436.
And I think we know where we're going next week.
A I think we are can we say it?
Yes we can.
Both games are final.
Go ahead.
All right.
We're going to North Gwinnett.
Yeah.
The little birdie that we were talking to early rounds North Gwinnett.
Tom Robinson.
That's going to be our game of the week next week 730 on air on all the GPB platforms.

Maybe Jackson Dean from Berry.
And we got to find out who that third coach is going to be.
There you go.

You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh hey what's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket.
And you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.
So why would you drive a car while distracted driving isn't a game when you lose on the road, it could lead to a crash.
