I'm talking from McConnell Talbot Stadium in Warner Robins, Georgia.
It's the Georgia Public Broadcasting Game of the week.
I'm Bob Holton and I'm joined by Fletcher Proctor.
FLETCHER Another great night for high school football.
And we're starting with Colquitt, who's ranked number four in the state some time.
Number one, this time they were last year they were on three.
They ended up playing in the state championship.
Now they're for now starting a new season, a new way cornerback.
Well, they haven't done this well in many years.
By far their best start under under coach Probst.
And you have a feeling that with this offense, as explosive as it is with the playmakers that they're discovering in every single game, it usually takes them a while before they find their footing or they've found it.
Watch out, Georgia.
The Packers are for real.
Warner Robins Proud History for State Championship Coach.
Bay won a state championship in his first year here.
Got to the Georgia Dome in the semifinals in his third year here.
But it's been tough sledding.
He's thinks with 32 seniors in his lineup, this is the year they rebound.
Well, they certainly have a chance with it with an offer to come out here and really make a statement.
You know, you've got a Colquitt team that that may be a little tired for playing for five straight weeks, including a scrimmage.
You've got a very bright, very rested demon squad with a loved up crowd here.
They're going to have a great game tonight.
Paul Ryan, Rachel Daniels had a chance to talk to both coaches.
You'll hear her, Rachel, talking to the head coach of Warner Robins High School after this timeout.
Hey, guys.
I'm Rachel Gaines with GPB Sports.
And we're here in the coach's playbook with the coach from Warner Robins High School Coach Way.
So you told me that two weeks ago you played Douglas County High School and you guys won that game.
Could you tell me about it?
Well, we it was our second game coming off a tough loss to Peach County.
And our kids were very motivated and very excited about playing.
And we came out and played real well early and forced some turnovers and got some real quick scores from easy scores and kind of kind of just continue to play well throughout the night and ended up winning, I think 56.
And that's when we got to play a lot of kids the second half and it was a big win for our kids.
I was awful excited about playing well and getting a big victory.
Okay, so tonight's game against Colquitt County, it is a big game.
What predictions do you have.
That that both teams are probably going to play very hard?
I don't know about predicting the winner, but Colquitt got a very, very fine football team coach and his staff.
They're always good and always very well coach and very well prepared.
And they have another fine football team that they're solid all the way across.
We haven't found any apparent weaknesses in what they do, so we're going to have to play very well if we play like we're capable play.
And I think it's going to be a heck of a football game.
It's probably going to come down to turnovers and the kicking game I think is going to be the big difference in the ballgame.
So out of your your team, you don't have to specify anybody in particular, but is there any group of team members who have really just worked their butt off so far?
Well, I think all of our kids have worked very, very hard, but we're probably led by our linebacking group, three of our four team captains, as voted on by the team linebackers and Michael Lee and Moses Allen and Dion Quartile and they provide great leadership.
They're great role models for all our kids.
The outstanding football players are they're fine young men are good students.
And and they do what they're supposed to do all the time.
And they're there.
We're lucky to have them on our team, that's for sure.
Well, thank you so much for talking with us and good luck in today's game.
Okay.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Hey, guys.
We're here back at the Warner Robins Field with coach props from Colquitt County High School.
And I have to tell you that I've heard so many great things about you.
I've heard that you just an amazing man who's been through a lot, but still managed to have a great attitude and personality.
So I just want to ask for this game.
What are your predictions?
I don't have much predictions.
It's just it's high school football, you know, and and football is a hard game to predict anyway, and especially when it's high school and, you know, these are 16, 17, 18 year old kids.
And, you know, they're going they're going to make mistakes and they're going to make good plays and that it's just going to be a balance of who makes the most plays on any given Friday night.
So who's going to win?
But it's two equal teams.
You know, I think both of us are are really good opponents.
You know, they they've got off to a real good start and two weeks to prepare.
We're all you know, we're going out and doing well.
And so something's got to give tonight.
So it's two good teams playing on a Friday night in south Georgia.
Okay.
Just personally about you, I know that you are a cancer survivor.
Do you think the game of football helped you kind of get through the difficult times in your life?
I think football helped me get through a lot of things in life, and especially this last mile I've had, I mean, has been, you know, life's about ups and downs.
You're going to have you're going to have good times in life.
You're going to have bad times in life.
And, you know, we all know at some point in time in life, we're all going to go through a suffering time.
And one of my periods was, you know, the last six or seven months that have been involved with this thing, but the good Lord is is helped me my faith in him.
And then also football has helped me just pull through, you know, and know that priorities change, you know, as time goes by before the game, your priorities change a little bit and because you look at things a little bit differently.
Okay.
Well, thank you so much for talking with us.
And I want you to have a good game and good luck.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
To a daze, whether it was from listening to him being interviewed by Dave Hunter and yourself last year.
I'll be in the semifinals after the victory over Grayson.
Everybody knows who he is.
And, and to, uh, to hear that he's gone through some tough times.
Is it just like everybody else has really hits home, I'm sure, with a lot of people.
And he probably gained quite a few fans.
You know, from that interview.
We talk about building programs and when you when you get to a position where you're reloading, well, Colquitt is the definition of a reloading program.
Nice mixture of juniors and seniors.
You might argue in there for, oh, they might be a year away because they've got some outstanding underclassmen.
But their coaches say they want to play two deep and defense for sure and darn close to it on offense.
We're going to see a lot of players in Colquitt tonight.
We certainly are, including a member of that of the score 44, Ty Smith, the tight end who's headed to the University of Georgia.
He's kind of a do it all.
He had his choice of where he wanted to play at the next level.
He chose to, I guess, kind of stay at home with the Georgia Bulldogs there.
But he's an explosive player.
He's caught a couple of game winners already this season.
Last week, he caught a touchdown pass that raised the game in their victory over Westlake.
But Ty Smith is a great player of the quarterback throwing the ball to him is also a great player member of my 24 to watch for for next season.
Cole Graves obviously led White County the playoffs last year as a sophomore, now a junior, he's going to be one of the most recruited quarterback in the entire country next season, six foot two.
He's got a cannon in the.
The epitome of a balanced offense and defense combination.
Yeah.
They've got, you know, 162 yards rushing, 688 yards passing.
You just.
Couldn't read my.
Right.
Six, six, 606 6.1 688.
So almost 1400 yards of offense and most of it coming in an even divider.
Now, let's talk a little bit about the home team, Warner Robins.
They've only played two games.
Coach Bay came here in 2004 and promptly won a state championship, went down to the Georgia Dome two years later when they were still playing the semifinals there.
And now he's fallen on a little bit of hard times.
But this year they're loaded.
A bunch of seniors, they think this is their year.
They lost a heartbreaker to start the season.
Yeah.
Coach Brian Way really had his team ready to go.
And if not for a couple of controversial plays, they would have knocked off Peach County, a very highly ranked team in their own classification.
According to score Atlanta rankings.
You know, you take a look at what he's been able to do.
They were able to rebound and really take it to Douglas County, a 56 nothing victory.
So there was no hangover.
There's no or there were a few kind of sour feelings left over, but they were able to put that behind them.
Now they've got a tall task with the number two team in our poll, the Packers coming into town.
They they say they're a spread offense, but they want to establish their run if possible.
There are running team out of the spread formation, Warner Robins.
They are.
And they've got a great couple of running backs back there, whether it's Chris Gavin's, whether it's De'anthony Mac.
You know, you take a look at what they've been able to do all season long.
Demetri Mack or Didi Mack, I believe, is what they call RGV De'anthony Mack and Didi, right.
Excuse me, are a couple of players in the in the backfield that can really get it done for the Demons?
Good crowds come up here from Colquitt County, about a two hour drive up Highway 75, but they've turned out in big numbers.
We're going to introduce you to the Colquitt Packers in the starting lineup for Warner Robins.
After we take this time out.
Speaking of off in the distance, Warner Robins is a business built around Warner Robins Air Force Base, and we may get a couple of shots of that later on tonight.
We are literally in the shadows of what is the leading economic producer here in the city of Warner Robins.
They support their football down here, don't they're a good crowd for the home standing team tonight.
Warner Robins, the demon faithful, have come out.
They did the demon walk before the game got going.
They had a great spread in the parking lot.
Everybody was out there.
Now the fans are ready to go, ready to take on the number two team in the highest classification in the state of Georgia.
They even hosted the crew from Georgia Public Broadcasting.
And we got to meet the mayor, the principals, the county board, a real hometown feel when you're down here and we're glad to be down in central Georgia.
We're going to be back here a couple more times here in the next couple of weeks.
I think we're about ready to have the starting lineup.
So Fletcher, I will turn that over to you.
Certainly.
Let's start with the Warner Robins demon offense.
As you see a shot of the demons right there.
Let's, I guess, first go with the offensive line left tackle to right tackle.
We've got Greg Farms, number 76, a senior, Jim Dart at guard, Joseph BECKEL, the senior center, Chad Storm Senior, and then Brian CORNISH, the junior out at right guard.
Moving on to the position, players Jaylen ROUNTREE and Kyle Griffin are your two wideouts.
You've got De'anthony Mac and Chris Gavin's in the backfield along with Akeem Taylor and of course the quarterback, the senior Ty Odom.
He wears number 14 and quarterback this offense.
And moving on to the defense of Warner Robins.
You know, when you start let's start with the front.
You've got Andrew Taylor, great cars, Welsh, Kieran, right.
And Michael Lee across your front, the linebackers Moses Allen, Alex hit this deck and then Kyle pricer number 18 and the defensive secondary James Gardner Walters White Rod Harris and a defray Collins round out your secondary for the Warner Robins defense and that's a shot right there.
The demon getting ready to be kind of torn through by the Warner Robins football squad.
Get a good shot of that.
They're Warner Robins coming into this game one and one Bob they've they've dropped down to region one for a and of course everybody remembers when they were region five a couple of years back, you know, all those battles they got into.
Jeffrey Whittaker, who's now at Auburn right now, Isaiah was a member of that squad coin toss.
We'll get to call quotes line ups here in just a second.
And I believe that, Coach, what's going to get the ball to start the game?
And we're about to have the Warner Robins team come on the field here in just a minute.
I would think that Colquitt would probably prefer to play defense first, but so they won the toss.
I assume they've deferred.
Is that what you took away from that?
We didn't get a clear send a signal from the referee.
I would actually I thought I saw out there that Warner Robins won.
It deferred.
Colquitt, of course, is going to take, if that's indeed what happened.
Colquitt, of course, would take the opening kickoff if they had to choose that.
And as we see the the demon right there getting ready to stand right by his team, going to get a good shot at this is going to be some pyrotechnics out there to get it started here at McConnell Talbot Stadium.
And the Packers around the field.
And I think we have their starting lineups as well.
So let's let's be introduced to the starting lineup for the conflict factors certainly.
So let's start on offense as we just as we did with the demons, Octavius Jackson, Alex Murphy, Jeff Dawson.
Although Bryce Giddens may get in there as well, the All-State Center, Dalton Dillon, Preston Mobley will be your offensive line.
The specialist on offense.
You've got Bobby Hill.
He was number 15 at one wideout.
And then I guess you could call him either a tight end or a flex wideout as well.
You've got Ty Smith out there.
He wears number 80.
Also, you've got number eight, Fred Phillips, Matt Sailor, Willie Wood.
You're round out the backfield.
And of course, that quarterback, the junior Cole C Graves, who is going to be one of the top, top, top players not just at Georgia, but in the nation.
Next year at quarterback, he wears number 13.
He's going to be a treat to watch tonight.
And Matt Taylor is an interesting story.
He had to sit out all of last year.
He's back now after a neck injury sidelined him for the whole season.
I think we have the Colquitt defense ready to go.
So let's see if we can get to that line up as well before we had the kickoff.
Okay.
The call for defense quickly.
Wayne Jackson, Brett Smith, Travis Register and Jameis Pittman.
You've got John Gray, who last week led corporate county with, I believe it was 16 tackles, 14 tackles excuse me, eight solos, six assists and he's at middle linebacker Anthony Bradley and Jermaine Washington are your other linebackers, Johnny Ward, Trey Scott, Jamaal Phillips and Stacy Blackwell round out your defensive secondary for the Packers of Corporate County.
Right.
And you're right, Bob, it was Colquitt.
I was misinformed.
They will actually be doing the kicking at Warner Robins, will take the ball and go left, right to start the game.
As Oscar Luna is the kicker and he is a good one.
He has 14 for 14 and his extra points, four out of six kicking field goals are effective even with this potent off that's he's the leading scorer I this.
Packer team and we'll.
See if he can get the ball to the end zone or not Trey Cooper is one of the deep men back for Warner Robins and Amanda.
They think they want to get the ball to also back there is right Harris so we're about to get underway from beautiful central Georgia.
Warner Robins.
We're glad to be here.
Georgia Public Broadcasting Game of the week.
We'll talk a little bit about that.
Great game coming up on television later on tonight as well.
Two ball is in the air and it will be into the end zone and out again.
They'll start first and ten from the 20 yard line.
Yeah, we could go in.
Obviously Warner Robins was off, but when Colquitt was out there taking on Westlake in a game that, by the way, Westlake has now lost about three years in a row to the Packers.
So Rush kind of has that thing cooking now.
They were led by their defensive linebacker.
John Gray had 14 tackles, like we said a minute ago, eight solos, six assists.
He was the defensive player of the game.
Washington Also in there, he had 13 tackles, just one behind so the linebackers very active in this packer off hurt the packer defense led by Travis Pearson the defensive coordinator.
Warner Robins will come out of the spread formation tired of his their quarterback puts the ball out in a flat court on his knees at the 20.
Now they're saying he actually trapped the ball.
So we've been saying and we were told by coach Way that they would come out trying to establish the run first and that first down they put it in the air.
Yeah.
Keith Taylor just couldn't get his hands underneath the ball and is going to be second and ten, which is what's the old cliche that they say?
If you're going to throw it on first, you better be ready to throw it on second down.
I wonder if they're going to go to the air once again.
They do like to run a tie.
Autumn is a quarterback starting as a senior, flanked on his left hand side by one man.
And here comes a man in motion.
Give the ball on the right side.
He crosses the 22 up near the 24 yard line before he's brought down.
And it was Bryan Sutton running with the ball and gaining four yards on that it.
Interesting story about Brian Sutton you mentioned one neck injury.
Well, here's another one.
Brian Sutton actually coming are returning this season from a get this a broken neck a couple of years back on January the 10th, January 2010, he broke a few vertebrae and missed all of last season.
Coach Way called him one of the best players in the team two years ago as a sophomore, he's now a senior.
Back to throw on first or third and sixth way out of there asking for a penalty there.
But he was he broke to the inside the pass came to the outside.
We'll see a replay of that, I think, here in just a second.
But the pattern just did not develop in the right way.
So they'll be punting it away.
And here comes the replay right here.
You can see he's going to look for his receiver, number 12, Keith Taylor.
And Taylor just turns the inside.
The kick was toots or the throw is to the outside.
The kicker Floyd gets away a good kick.
It bounces at the 45 yard line and takes a big bounce for Warner Robins.
Inside the 30, it'll be down to the 26 yard line, but Colquitt will take over from there.
And then in the quarterback for the team that the person they talk about quite a bit young man transferred from White County down to the Colquitt County that's about as far as you can go and still stay in the state of Georgia, about 300 mile distance.
But he's down here and he's the person everybody's talking about.
One of the top juniors in the state.
Yeah.
Followed his dad down here is now working with the offensive rush probes and you know the junior class or batch of quarterbacks in the state of Georgia really great.
Last year, Eddie Prince we saw him in the quirky Cal classic Bryce Ramsey's, another one down at Camden County, the number one team in the state, five.
And now here's Frozen first down across the 30 to 35, picks up a first down, gaining ten yards.
And that is the person we talked about, Ty Smith.
I think he's a member of your score 44.
He caught the ball in yards after catch.
He made it up for a first down at the 37 yard line first and ten from there from for Colquitt.
And they'll go quickly see great saw has thrown the ball 75 times, although they've played four games so the stats are a little misleading.
One teams play two games, the other teams played four games from the spread formation.
See Graves pitches on the right hand side, big gain again near the first down across the 45 yard after the 46th brings up second down and six.
That was Trey Cooper running with the ball.
Yeah.
Trey Cooper is a guy that's going to be running the ball or at least at Rush folks wants to they actually Willie Woodyard is was in our starting lineup after he had exploded for over 100 yards one week ago.
He's a transfer from Alabama, Bob.
And when they came over, he was all state a year ago in Alabama as safety and they thought, okay, he'll be our safety.
Well, turns out he's also a pretty darn good running back.
Second down and short secrets back to throw out in a flat complete across midfield has the first down.
A nice tackle for number 27 has white as he stops him for no more but move the chains a fresh that for the Packers.
Kishan Taylor with a reception in the flat and brought down immediately put the ball back at the 49 yard line That's still enough for a first out in blue to end demon territory at the 49.
Yard line.
From the right hash mark no secrets in that direct snap and he keeps in himself left side to the 45 yard line across the 45 picks up five yards on first down brings up second down and.
Five yes graves is not going to be afraid to run the ball.
Last week, I believe he had 68 yards rushing in an effort to, you know, kind of move the ball.
If it's not there with his arm, he's not afraid to put his head down and get a few yards on the ground.
Spot the ball just across the 45 yard line.
So let's say it's a second down and six from there.
We set the offensive linemen.
We'll get a chance to talk about them a little bit.
Marcus They got some big ones on it.
Back to throw a secrets across the middle to the 40 brought down just real close to the first down.
But I think he's going to be just a little shy.
Depends on the spot for the third and very, very short.
Taylor was again on the in on the reception and he's able to just find a little soft spot in the zone across the middle secret spots and delivers a strike.
And it's just short of the first down.
Third down in less than a yard to go.
Quercus Colquitt has established an offense very quickly here from there, 26 to the 30 or 40 yard line in just a couple of minutes, the clock time and they're showing the balance, throwing the ball, running the ball.
Nice mix.
And that's what they like to do.
You know, so many times we've heard it referred to at least coach prose as offensive basketball on grass.
And that's what they like.
They like that fast tempo, quickly get the ball out on the perimeter.
You know, if you're going to run it, run it quick, get your back to the line of scrimmage.
Let's set things up.
Not sure what's going on right now, though.
Perhaps they're telling the band that they can't play during during the play, even though it's their team is on offense.
They tend to do that to the Lions band.
I know.
So maybe if they call it quits, taking a message from them third down and very, very short from the spread.
But it's no secret and he keeps the ball himself has the first down and a couple of yards more down to about the 36 yard line where they will snap the ball with their third first down clock shows exactly 9 minutes to play in the first quarter and Colquitt is moving good.
Or the Demons defense has got to make a couple of changes here I think, to figure out just exactly how to stop this Colquitt offense.
Yeah, the Packers really need to get off to a good start because under Coach Probst, they've lost two straight here.
He's only one and two.
The Packers themselves are two of their last two of their last eight at this stadium.
So they kind of want to exorcize those demons quickly, get an early lead and sit on their defense first.
And ten from the 38 yard line.
See Grace, change the play at the line.
There is a snap, a high snap.
He retreated, hence the ball to Cooper.
Cooper stopped in the backfield for a loss of a couple of yards.
What do I mentioned?
The Big East gets in Colquitt County.
Ah, Jackson's to 80.
Murphy He's the small guy in the group.
At 230, their centers to 60, the right guard is to 80.
And then there's young Mr. Press.
Mobley He just checks the scale at £300.
Yeah, everybody remembers last year.
Xavier Ward, who is here, is now at the University of Georgia.
He was that big, depending on what side of the line they were running on the left tackle or the right tackle.
He was certainly a big.
Boy, second down and 12.
They keep the ball on the ground.
Big hole for Cooper, but it closes fairly quickly.
He's brought down after a three or four on the ball's down on the ground.
Warner Robins says they have it and the referee confirms.
So after a seemingly a flawless drive.
All of a sudden, on second and 12, they try to catch him off guard with a run game three or four yards.
The penalty are the that defense closed quickly and caused that penalty for that turnover.
Well, whatever you mentioned that they're going to make an adjustment.
Well, it seems that they did.
They brought an all out blitz on first down, bringing up second and long coach try to, you know, kind of squeeze in another little run there with Trey Cooper's very shifty and the ball just came out.
Here's a replay of it right here.
And he just gets hit by number 18, causing the fumble.
And D.J.
Johnson.
Autumn with the pants off to his man around It's jam out Run Roundtree and Jalen Ramsey rather.
And he picks it about six or seven yards.
And Dee Dee, right, was in the backfield this time.
They faked it to him and he ended up for the end around Roundtree and he picked up about 67 yards, puts about the 42 yard line, second and four from there.
I want to correct myself.
It was Kyle Pricer who actually forced the fumble and want to give the correct player correct?
Correct.
Second down and four from the 42 yard line just underway from McConnell Talbot Stadium.
And another crisp but beautiful night for football here back to throw at second down he has time over the middle clock then fouls.
Intended for a number 12 Akeem Taylor and he had into Packer territory right there just could not squeeze the ball that's going to bring up third and manageable but a little heartbreaking right there that you have to go back to the drawing board.
Very well designed play.
You say if you're going to pass on first down, you have to pass on second down.
If you pass on second and four, you probably after and you miss it, you probably have to pass on third down.
Their personality is to run and yet they've come out throwing.
Well, I would say that normally if if it's third long at the pass but they could run it they do.
And there's flags all over the place and this one would be blown dead and no marching back a few yards and bring up now third, you are.
You know when you've got a running back stable you know De'anthony Mac D.D.
right.
These guys you they can pick up chunks of yardage.
These guys are they are no slouch, as you know.
You take a look Didi right scored their lone touchdown against Peach County, which a lot of people feel should have been the game winner, that De'anthony Mac had a touchdown very early on in that rout of Douglas County.
These running backs, once they get traction, can be off to the races.
The ball back at the 37 yard line.
The line to make is just between the 46 and 47.
So it's second down and third down and almost ten yards to go to receivers at the top of the screen quarterback back to throw while it's off the hands again he picked off intercepted after the deflection at the 44 yard line.
Jamal Phillips the five eight junior from the safety position is going to come away with the pick, but that's another one that number 12, Akeem Taylor had go through his hands.
He's going to go to the sidelines.
And, you know, the coaches need to to make sure that everything's right.
He needs to be their big play weapon out there, need to make sure his head is still in this game after two drops.
The ball was thrown just slightly behind him in a little high and it just deflected off his hands.
In the end, the tip drill came into play there and he made the actually fairly easy interception.
The ball at the 43 yard line first and ten from there.
I would be surprised to see him go the first play here.
See great hands off in the right side of the 40 breaks a tackle at the 40, 35, 30 and down he has the first down.
Well a big play on first down not quite going for the jugular there but they give it to Woodyard.
And Woodyard, I believe, is his first carry.
The Night gets enough for a first down.
He had a big game, as you said last week, I think 186 yards.
Is that right that he gained that they're measuring right now?
It's right at the stick.
And there they may have to measure this even though it's right there.
It's that close to being the ten yards.
Yeah, 17 carries 183 yards.
He was huge last week stepping in for an injured starting tailback, you know, kind of having to come in off the deck.
But you know what?
He pitched in and did his part.
Second down in inches from the 33 yard line from the spread formation for back to throw on second down now he rolls to the left has a man wide open in the flat.
They catch the ball at the 20 down to the 18 yard line.
There was actually a man even more wide open down the field.
But see, Graves took the shorter route, gates 15 yards and the first down, but there was a lone port packer down at about the ten yard line with no one near here.
Yeah.
Tavares Ward was the one that came up with the catch.
Although a penalty flag is going to march him back a little bit, depending on when this penalty was called.
It looks like the flag is been thrown at about the 28 yard line.
Illegal man downfield.
Illegal man downfield.
So that'll set him back five yards.
So instead of second and inches, it'll now be second down in about five and five feet, two inches, 60.
So a big break there for Warner Robins.
Let's see if they can turn aggressive like they did the last time on defense and try to stop it.
Now, two men flanking graves in the backfield as they go second and five from the 38 yard line back to throw it.
Seagrams rolls out to the right completes though drops the ball the ball was caught at the 30 yard line he started to turn around and run with it.
Couldn't hang on to it.
Yeah.
Ty Smith had the ball go into his hands and like you said, it just kind of happened to fall out.
You've got to squeeze that ball.
I was once told by a football player, if you can touch it, you can catch it.
So if you can actually get your mitts on the ball, that thing needs to come into your chest somehow, someway.
We want to remind you that we have an interactive chat tonight.
We also have a poll that you can to the whole conversation about here.
But if you're on line, go to the chat.
Tell us where you're watching your listing and if you have some opinions on the poll.
Let us know about that.
With third down, coach Crowe saw something he didn't like.
He called a timeout.
We're going to take the time out with you and we'll be back to talk about that poll after this timeout.
All right.
So Colquitt is kind of the cause of our poll question tonight.
Last year, Colquitt started oh in three.
It made it to the state championship game.
This year, they're four and up.
So the question is, Fletcher, would you rather be number one with a target or would you rather be sneaking up on people?
I'll tell you my answer after this play.
The third down and five from the 38 yard line she grows that she goes back to throw and the ball is almost intercepted and knocked down incomplete.
Bring it up.
Fourth down and five from the 38 yard line I believe they'll be kicking.
That was a heck of a defensive play there.
That just didn't quite there you see it on the replay.
He made a whale of an effort there, timed it perfectly.
The ball was just under thrown and he couldn't get to it.
Great defensive play there.
Nice defensive stop.
And now coming out to punt the ball away will be number 49.
Tyler Yost, just a little far out of the range of Oscar lunas for six of the season, four field goals, a perfect 14 for 14 on extra points.
De'anthony Mac and D Wright are the people that are back.
Yost gets the kick away, a high spinning spiral steps up and lets the ball bounce at the ten and it's rolling towards the end zone and just barely creeps in there.
6 minutes, 32 seconds to play.
Let's take one more quick time out and we'll be back and further discuss our poll question here at No Score.
We'll be back after this break.
So what is it Thatcher would you rather that the target on your back is a highly ranked team, or would you rather sneak up on them?
Well, I think conventional wisdom would say that you would rather be the sneaker up, or however, I'm going to argue that it's actually harder to be the underdog.
Why?
Because nobody nobody believes in you.
More or less.
You have to prove yourself over and over and over again.
And after a while, the disrespect card can't be played.
But so many times, you know, after a while, you may start to believe.
A doubt may creep in that maybe I'm not as good.
Maybe there are teams like a like a Brookwood that seemingly are always winning state titles or a Colquitt and maybe I'm just not I think it's harder to actually win as an underdog.
Well, you could express your opinion as to whether you agree with Fletcher Proctor, not just by going to our poll question tonight and voting after that on first down did you right trade the right side gained a yard or two it's now second down and eight from the 22 back to throw throws the ball over the middle and it is caught and dropped again right at the 30 yard line.
And that one almost got picked up off the deflection as well.
Yeah.
Kyle Griffin, the senior wideout, as you'll see on replay right here, was bracketed by two people with a third coming in a hurry.
And yeah, he almost had another Packer interception.
Odom has thrown the ball 23 times in two games.
He's already thrown it seven or eight times here in the first 5 minutes.
6 minutes there, trying to switch things up a little bit as Coach Way.
He's got a state title under his belt here in the state of Georgia and he's saying, you know what, I'm going to try to outfox coach Brooks.
Mack is flanked and he gets the ball at the 2022 and brought down there after little or no gain.
And it's hard to identify one call for the attacker because once he's hit, there is just a swarm of white jerseys on top of him.
Yes.
John Gray, though, the 511 junior came up big.
He had 14 tackles a week ago.
He has another tackle right there, a big third down stop.
He's going to force a punt from Warner Robins and trotting out to do it his number 88, Caleb Floyd, the senior.
There are two Floyd brothers and the teammate and they both kick a little bit and they both play a little bit.
But this is Caleb.
But he'll be staying in his own ten yard line when he gets this kick away.
Booms one at midfield.
It's going to bounce this time, another good bounce for him.
He's going to have a good average of a whole lot of the yards have come out on the bounce.
This one is roll dead at the 36 yard line.
They'll play from there.
Yes.
Let me ask you about, you know, getting back to our poll question, I think it might actually be a little more difficult to win as an underdog, even though unlike college football, there is a playoff in high school football.
So you have a chance to prove it on the field.
But going in is it's obviously a different mindset as the underdog versus as the hunted opposed to Hunter.
You say you'd rather be the end.
Always enjoy reading Todd Holcomb.
I think he said last year the five teams that were ranked number one at the start of the season, only Buford went all the way.
And Buford is of course the exception.
And all they win with when they're ranked number one doesn't seem to bother them at first.
And ten, Colquitt has the ball drives the left side 4045 very near midfield and a first down.
And finally forced out of bounds at the 48 yard line.
They kind of kept tackle them even though he was out of bounds.
But I don't think they had a choice because he was good.
Cooper was just running so hard that they they didn't know when they were going to get the whistle.
Yeah, Trey Cooper just kept hitting and kept hitting.
And when you take a look at, you know, Trey Cooper size, he doesn't look like a big guy.
However, he's five eight, 160.
He hits like a hammer.
Well, that small body with a lot of weight on it and he runs very hard first and ten from the 49 yard line like.
A mobile fire.
Get to the line of scrimmage.
Then they look to the bench for a change up the call, the play change in the formation.
There were two men in striking see graves now only one at their own 49 yard line throws the ball out in the right flap, throws it a little too far out.
Both quarterbacks set it up.
They're a little anxious or not, but throwing the ball hard and off the hands of their receivers on both sides of the field.
Well, he was throwing it in the vicinity of Ty Smith.
And that's never a bad idea.
When you've got a weapon like Ty Smith, who is a little faster than the linebacker or safeties that are on him and obviously bigger than the quarterbacks that can guard him, he's a mismatch nightmare out there is is a lot like Jerome was one year ago.
To receivers to the top of the screen one split right on the left and a man Frankie Gray second down and ten from their own 49 yard line secrets keeps the ball this time and he is tackled in the backfield they lose a yard or two and bring up third down in line.
Started to mention too about the interactive chat.
They love hearing from people.
And tonight, whenever we come down to South Georgia, there is always a great turnout.
We've got the Valdosta Daily Times that Moultrie Observer and two other papers in that fine organization, all putting this game on their Internet tonight.
And we really appreciate that.
We want to thank you, Jeff Masters, the publisher, for doing that.
And we really appreciate when we come down to central or south Georgia and a great reception.
You better be careful to make an area in the south Georgia.
Don't question say it's middle.
Gaston Colquitt or South Georgia.
Third down and long.
He's in trouble.
He gets escapes from one tackle.
Now he's going to touch the ball and run and get the tackle at the 46 yard line.
Once he got away there for a second, he actually looked to throw the ball and sometimes that really ends up in a big way.
That's what we talked a little bit about last week that the Wittstock quarterbacks didn't do that and he sure was looking to throw it right until he got hit.
And you can see right here, Wesley Davis and Dunker Taylor, 44 and 42, do a good job of excuse me, 45 and 42, do a good job of not quitting.
Staying with the play and following through on that hit of series.
Tyler Yost will do the kicking back in a single safety as did the Anthony Mack.
He's standing in his own 20 yard line to kick his way, another very high spiral, tracking him all the way back to the 15 catches the ball there stutter step 20 breaks away at the 20 down to the 25 and finally tackled the 26 yard line fine run back there running primarily north and south after the first juke step.
You've got to make the first man miss if you're a punt returner and he made the first two or three missed.
He kept going recovering a break, gaining about four or five, ten yards on that return.
Very impressed with the speed after contact.
Very impressed with the speed that Colquitt County has.
They just swarm to the ball, especially on defense.
3 minutes, 22 seconds to play in the first quarter.
It's scoreless.
Just interestingly enough, Colquitt has not given up a touchdown in the first quarter and he is Warner Robins.
So I guess no score is to be expected here.
Quarterback back to throwing first down throws the ball out in a flat This one's far out at the 35 yard line very near the first down he'll be just a little short.
Kyle Griffin was the receiver for.
Who was that?
That was Taylor right there.
And that's why it's so big that you know he not get to yeah two down it's Taylor had a couple drops including the one tip that went for an interception he is their big playmaker Nice job right here by Ty Odom find finally number 12 out there the on the far side Taylor and Taylor's fighting does he get enough for a first down but that is a huge catch for the young man's psyche after those drops in the first.
Drive, second down and eight from the 36 yard line.
And now I think we have an official's timeout not quite sure what the.
Reason he his men are now functional play over 52 not a Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction just an equipment malfunction.
They've got that taken care of.
And I think we're ready to go here.
I just can't get over to talk to Coach Way about it.
He says I'm going to run and then maybe I'll establish the pass.
They had that come on throwing tonight.
I guess so.
Just trying to fool a guy from Georgia Public Broadcasting, second down handoff has the first down and a little bit more crosses the 40 yard line.
A nice run.
That was the uppercut first game.
Yeah, yeah.
Number 44.
Chris Gavin is the one who picks up enough for a first down.
And I believe that's only their first or maybe second first down that they've been able to pick up.
Court Let's move the ball and then stall.
But this is the first time that they've been able to get a little momentum going for Warner Robins.
Fresh, set it down.
And that's got to fire up this crowd a little bit here at the historic McConnell Talbot Stadium.
Great crowd here tonight.
The home crowd is out in force and saw the visitors from Colquitt County pitch on the right hand side and at the 40, 45 yard line and brought down there after a gain of five.
And that's the aforementioned Bryce Sutton, who had to sit out the whole season last year with that broken neck and he gained five yards on first down brings up second year you talk about coach pros having a new look out on life after battling cancer.
What must this young man be thinking as he's brought back from a broken neck and he's playing football again?
Yeah he's got after his during his sophomore season had 100 carries averaged 5.9 yards had 11 scores that year, didn't play at all last season.
Had to watch his team go to an eight so far this year he's averaging 8084 yards a game.
One man next to the quarterback.
And now I believe there's another time out here.
We're waiting to see who called it.
They're pointing towards Warner Robins.
And I think they actually thought the quarterback was just clapping his hands.
But all of a sudden, the referee said time out.
So there's a timeout on the field.
We'll take it along with them.
2 minutes, 8 seconds, no score.
We'll be back after this break.
To rebuild the computer with things like a human.
My name is Watson.
Can this computer, the champions of ultimate brand game?
This is too daunting for the quest to build the smartest machine on fire.
Yeah.
No score here.
2 minutes and 8 seconds to go, Fletcher.
What are you seeing with the Warner Robins offense that we didn't see the first two times they had the ball?
Well, they're running, you know, to be completely honest with you, they're they're running it.
They did a nice job of finding Akeem Taylor on the first down play.
But, you know, you saw Sutton run it.
Anthony Mack, I'm sure, is going to get involved.
Right.
Those are the guys.
This is their offense is what they do.
They churn it up on the ground with three or four different backs.
And if you can get a guy like such going, this is a sophomore, had 11 touchdowns and you know, he's fired up.
He wants to get in there, play number 20, the fullback after missing his entire junior year with a broken neck.
Just get out there and run the ball.
On the quarterback back to throw on second down throws the ball in the middle court breaks the tackle at the 4030 530 down at the 25 yard line.
And that again is Akeem Taylor making the catch and this time getting great yardage after the play.
And Akeem Taylor, you saw that he can somehow find a way to get open.
He did it the first couple of drives.
He was dropping the ball.
But right there he snags it, nearly breaks away, but instead gets the ball inside the 30, nearly the 25 yard line.
He's very dangerous, the ball in his hand.
So he just finds a sore spot, the middle of the zone, as you just saw there on the replay.
Great job by our camera guys and a great catch by number 12.
First down from the 26 handoff to White, rather, to Mack.
He's got ten yards.
And another first down next to that was Dee Dee, right with the ball, the man who had a nice game earlier in this drive and he gets yet another first down crosses the 15 down to the 14.
Mack is number two, right?
Is number three.
And right now, Bob, there in the scoring zone that we always like to talk about, there is such thing as the red zone.
Obviously inside the 20 yard line.
But in the high school game, I like to break down what we call the scoring zone inside the 15.
I think it's almost a gimme it field goal range.
You want to give the kickers kind of the benefit of the doubt once they get the ball inside the 15, it should be automatic to those kickers.
Minute and a half to go in the first quarter scoreless.
Warner Robins is trying to change that back to throws at quarterback Odom rolling to his right he has a man open it it's picked up picked off and dropped I believe almost intercepted great defense at play there.
He cut in front of the key.
Taylor has been his primary target here and the ball just slip through the defenders hands brings up second down and ten.
Yeah they were going for Kyle Griffen the big I guess tight end and coming away or nearly coming away with it was that gentleman right there, number 34.
He tried to squeeze it.
Jamal Phillips just unable to secure the interception.
Kyle or Jamal Phillips, though, has been in there a couple of times.
I think when they were going to Kyle Griffith both times trying to snag that interception.
Odom throws.
A defensive.
Play at him, throws it very hard ball.
It looks like both teams have had balls go off their hands.
And fortunately for them, the defensive man in there was a penalty on that play.
So lastly, find downfield illegal man downfield.
So they'll replay first down from the 20 yard line first and 15.
But he puts a lot of a snap on that ball, little zip.
And we actually talked to Taylor's father before the game started, you know, saying that he's definitely got options in terms of the next level.
But you can see right there what people like to be.
He he's got a bit of a grip on that.
All and considering the military academies and we always appreciate that from the 20 yard line first and 15 Odom back to throw again he has a man open in the end zone and it is caught and is he inbounds?
No ruling out of bounds long the look by the referee but he took his time and probably made the right call.
We'll have to look at that.
And that time he puts a nice air to this pass.
Watch it.
Yeah.
Jalen Roundtree, the intended target there going up.
I think Jalen Roundtree just runs out of real estate, dropped it to nice coverage.
However, that ball is dropped right in there.
I think if he's able to, you know, watch his feet, that's when he gets back to body control.
If he can keep that kind of torso up.
I think he had the legs down, but he just let the ball go.
Through his own right after talking about how much zip he puts on it, but that great amount of air in it, that was probably his best pass of the night.
And it just went through the receivers hands second and 15 hands the ball to the running back.
He's at the ten.
That's right.
Down to the five and in towards the end zone knocked out of bounds just short of the power to kind of come out of bounds at the four he got down near the pylon.
But that will be a first down.
It's up and running with the ball again and getting the first down at the four yards, although it's let's wait and see that they might have to measure this when they can see where they are.
It's going to be very, very close to that first down.
And they are saying third down, they don't have to measure.
Bryan Sutton is a guy that, you know, he wants to get into the end zone after finding it 11 times two years ago.
Of course, he missed all of last season.
He wants he needs to get in that end zone, you know, to feel normal again.
One minute to go in that first quarter, no score.
But Warner Robins is threatening handoff goes to the first man through Alston very close to the goal line and almost in.
He's he's got the first down it's now a matter of one official is running in with his foot on the ground it's going to be first and.
Goal and then hope who mainly plays defense was the was the front man in the eye on that formation and he ran it down to the 11.
Now here's a spread formation that once they get inside the five yard line, they touch it.
They put the fish out of that.
It is touching.
The goal line.
They put the quarterback behind him and went with the ice that Colquitt stayed in that spread formation.
We can have that discussion all night, but there is no one inside this, Fletcher pointed out.
First and goal and they don't quarterbacks naked they hit it the 44 that's up near Chris Evans he's in for the touchdown.
From not the one inch line Warner Robins goes in for the score I think is that 11 was that.
44.
So you can see plowing right into the end.
Zone, open up quite a hole right here to Chris Gavin's got the handoff and he was in by a good two or three yards they their left side of the line moved the whole right side of the line of Colquitt quite a bit and he drove in and scored with plenty of room to spare.
32 seconds to play Warner Robins on the board.
First they kick his up and the extra point is good.
32 seconds to play in the first quarter.
The home team leading, they say no cheering in the press box.
But you can tell we're in a Warner Robins press box as they lead seven to nothing.
We'll be back with a final 32 seconds after this timeout.
I'm Secrets of the Dead Mysterious Woman.
I'm a weak.
Desolate soul.
Rocket ship survived the voyage their voyage shipwrecks discovered revealed 1.3 billion lost ships and secrets you could do Tuesday at ten on GPB.
32 seconds to play in the first quarter at Warner Robins, who had hardly done anything on offense, all the sudden takes the ball 70 yards, scoring touch down from one inch out to take the lead seven to nothing a little bit of a surprise here but yeah.
It was said that especially after Colbert moved it the first time they had the ball down there, it looked like they were going in for a score.
A couple of penalties took the bump, took a huge first down inside the 20 yard line away, ultimately ended up in a punt.
Warner Robins finally is back to what they do, mixing a little offense, mixing a little run and passing, and they're able to drive all the way down the field before Michael Lee puts it in from one inch out.
It seems that Michael Lee had two straight carries and he's a guy getting some looks from Wofford, getting some looks from Georgia, Southern Valdosta State, a lot of looks for Michael Lee as a defender, but carry the ball into the end zone.
I talked to their coach midweek and I asked him about his team and he said, I'll just tell you this, Michael.
Alex, the best player in the team, he didn't say much more than that.
He just said he's my best football.
Player and.
Plays mainly on defense.
He leads the team in tackles, but when they had a short yardage situation, he carried it from the for the one and he carried it over for the touchdown doing the kicking now it's Kyle Floyd and overran kick and this ball is going to be returned at the five the ten 1520 and brought down at the 21 yard line after a nice run back.
But the whole call close quickly.
Willie Woodyard, the wildcat back was running with the ball and got back to the 21 yard line.
Actually, they're going to give him forward progress up to the 24/1 and ten from there with 25 seconds to go in the first quarter.
So now Colquitt will be playing from behind something they haven't had to do much this year is there for an on the young season two receivers split to the bottom of your screen this time see graves one man flanking him and he takes it throws the ball at the 30 and it's caught by the tight end.
The flag goes down late.
He gets up to about the 29 yard line.
You think there was a facemask, there was a very late flag.
And calls to grace is pointing that it's going to go against Warner Robins.
So perhaps a perhaps a late hit, somebody maybe trying to be too aggressive, going to go against Warner Robins.
So that's going to be some free yardage.
For the Packers when the flag came that it almost had to be facemask.
But we'll wait and see what they call here.
They're actually talking to both sides.
We'll call it quit.
Was quite confident it was against Warner Robins.
Yeah, the initial indication was against Warner Robins.
Well, let them sort this out.
You mentioned that they don't play for behind too often.
Well, Colquitt County had it had to rally, I believe as of their second game of the season.
They're taking on a Florida power.
They were down ten points checked that it's going to yeah go against Warner Robins by the way the penalty but they had actually had to score two touchdown in the last minute of the game in order to pull off that win.
I believe they're playing Madison County from a four down in Florida, ten points down.
They scored two touchdowns including the game winner have about 30 seconds left as Siegrist finds Ty Smith for the game winner.
The 15 yard penalty puts about the 30 yard line, the 39 yard line.
The referee never did indicate what the penalty was.
Grimes back the throw looking way down the field has a man, but it's broken up nicely by the defensive end of Warner Robins and they'll bring up second down and ten.
They're playing with some swagger out there.
Bob, suddenly this defense, it seemed like they were getting gassed early on once they recovered that fumble, actually, when they took down the ball here in the backfield on first down, leading to the second down play of a fumble, they've been playing with a spark.
And you see right there a nice defensive play.
Give a lot of credit to number four, the defensive back there, James Gardner, the senior.
Willy Woodyard, the running back was out of the backfield and downfield for the reception.
Now they run the ball on the right hand side.
The Cooper Cooper gets to the 45 yard line still on his feet, crosses the 45 up to the 48 yard line.
And we've come to the end of the first quarter, the home standing, Warner Robins Demons, a little bit of a surprise.
Lady number four.
Number two, depending what you want to say, Colquitt County, nothing.
And we'll be back with the second quarter after this timeout, third down and one and we start the second half quarterback keeper across midfield to the 45 yard line sea grace picks up the first down and then some.
So the play of the second quarter is that quarterback keep good enough for the first.
Down and that's a big pickup right there you see Graves six foot two.
He's is a big player down there.
He's big from up here in the press box.
I was down walking around the track before the deal, after the game started and he is just a big dude.
He is going to grow probably a little bit more.
He's just got that look of a player.
Is not finished growing just yet.
Can you imagine that guy, six foot four of the arm.
He has a.
Knack to throw a seagrass, throws the ball at the flat and the ball is off the fingertips.
It is fine.
Receiver Ty Smith.
And again that.
When you talk about sea graves, he is one of the outstanding juniors in the whole state of Georgia.
He's on your score, 24 to watch, I believe.
The 24 to watch for for next year.
He is certainly one of the we have we've seen we've had the delight of seeing Eddie Prince as Lassiter when they knocked off Brookwood in the quirky Cal classic before the season started.
Now we're watching See Graves we just need Bryce Ramsey and we'll have via the triumvirate.
Second down and ten from the 45 yard line Colquitt trailing seven and nothing early in the second quarter they shift that the defense now let's see what Graves calls here on second down in line and the left side jumps little on getting the call played and or the play called in the left side just couldn't hold their position any longer.
They'll lose five yards and bring up second down and 50.
Very difficult.
That's the one thing about these formations.
When the offensive line sets, they got to hold that position sometimes for 20, 30 seconds.
Well, it's interesting, I think the left tackle jump because number 68, Bryce Giddens the center, didn't quite know or started to snap at the tried to stop it.
This is his first game back he missed last week he's been out with injury he was able to practice some but they kept him out holding him for this game.
Second down and 15 back to throw.
They set up the screen out in a flat to Woodyard 50, 45, 40, right down there at the 39 yard line.
So he got the penalty back and six more to spare brings up third down and manageable.
And you know coach coach Probst loves having Bryce Giddens back there as we see the the nice screens set up and delivered nearly to perfection right there getting just a huge chunk of yardage right back.
And when you have it all state center candidate like Rice, it is tough for him to be out there, a leader of this young team.
You know, Coach Probst sits a little better because he's he's gone on record calling this team out.
They're young.
He thinks they're a year away.
Colquitt as two receiver or two running backs to the right side of secrets, he goes pitches to the right side to Cooper Cooper at the 4035 and run out of bounds right at the 35 yard line line to make was that 35 so depend on the spot he looks like he's going to be just very very close but at the fourth down in inches.
I think it's all going to depend on the spot.
The line to get is definitely a 35.
He is just shy of it.
And yeah, the man in the white hat has gone ahead and said fourth down, I would not be surprised if they don't bring in a big package right here to try to just bowl rush this thing right through.
And you saw the first play, the fourth or the second quarter.
See, Grace did it himself.
Just under 11 minutes to go see Gray's is not under center but.
Go crazy now he.
Did run forward the last time and make it easily tight formation.
See graves.
There's a flag and they're going to they're going to make the first time at this place coming back.
Yeah.
Somebody moved in the backfield.
I think this time.
I would agree with that.
It seemed like couple of the wings back there started to move early, which is weird because he wasn't even going that side of the field.
So now it's fourth and five.
You kick the ball now, Fletcher, you still go for it.
Ball Back at the 40 yard line.
You're kind of in that no man's land at this part of the field.
Bob If you kick it and you pin it down inside the ten obviously punts a great call.
But if it goes into the end zone, which these kickers are certainly capable of doing, you're only.
Gaining 25 state championships by taking chances in the middle of the field, in the middle of the second quarter.
Plenty of time to play.
I think he knows he's got a very good team.
They play very aggressive defense.
I think that's the right call.
Got to be careful, though, this field, he's only one and two with the Packers on this field including he's he's lost two straight so he's this field has something against coach Brooks.
Back to do the kicking is post he gets the ball high in the air a little wobbly this time ball bounces at the 20 kind of takes a spin there and goes dead at the 22 yard line so they only gained 18 yards on that with the score seven another 1022 to play in the first half.
And let's take this time out and pass the hand off to right right on the right side.
Up to about the 30 yard line picks up seven or eight yards on first down they very good ball faking there and it was almost almost like the modern version of the Statue of Liberty as he was back to throw and he kind of handed the ball off to their man coming deep around him.
Well, it seems ever since Boise State pulled the Statue of Liberty against Oklahoma a couple of years back, the Statue of Liberty has become a new invoke play and you see several different variations of it.
We saw one right there and coach way is is leaving nothing in the playbook right now.
He's is pulling out everything as they're trying to knock off the number two team in the state Bob recognize the score, let it roll.
They say that right stepped out in the 29.
So at second and four this time they try the left side reverse ball is the receiver and he is going to be brought down for no gain.
That was Jalen Roundtree trying to come around almost like an a double reverse.
So we're seeing statues of liberty's in double reverse.
Those are plays back from my era back in the sixties and 70.
He saw right there the handoff to Roundtree.
Roundtree just didn't have enough blockers out there.
He gets taken down for a minimal game.
And third down and three this Colquitt team is so quick that they try to get a slowly developing play.
Statue of Liberty gives you a little bit of foolery, but that that double reverse just takes a long time to get going.
I would agree Colquitt is just too fast.
Third down, three bad snap at the quarterback brings it down.
He's going to just fall down at the 25 yard line and that all started with a snap from center being just a little too long for him to reach.
He did a good job to kind of tip it up in the air.
And then whether he did it intentionally or not, he fell to the ground and prevented what could have been a bigger disaster.
They lose five on the plate.
They'll have to kick it away on the 25 yard line.
Yeah.
Brett Smith really blew up the line right there, busted through it.
Now you see Trey Cooper back there with his heels, 43. Cooper has to give ground back to the 35.
Now he cuts to his left and he's going to be brought down by a hard tackle there at the 32 yard line, a tremendous punt.
It was a very high kick.
And sometimes when you get that high kick, you out, kick the coverage.
But not that time.
Not that time.
It did give a lot of credit to the number 88 Floyd, who came in, just booted that thing and kept going back.
Kept going back.
I was getting ready to say it looks like Colt is going to have great field position.
But again, he just kept retreating before he was brought down.
I want to remind you that in Georgia, public broadcasting television going all over the state of Georgia, Mary's versus Southwest to cab.
And when you hear those two scores, what's the first thing you think of?
Fletcher I think the game we did last year, Bob at Harford Stadium, Austin hard member of this year's score 44, booting a 58 yard field goal with 3 seconds left to win the game.
And that should be another good one tonight first and ten proceed grays complete to the 35 yard line brought down there by, I said a host of tacklers for Colquitt.
Well Warner Robins had about five guys hanging in that young man's back right down after five.
There was that Ty Smith.
Ty Smith was on the receiving end of that catch.
Yes, indeed.
A Moses Allen, 36, led the charge.
He was the first, I think, in of those five demons.
Second down and five from the 35.
He went off the left side by Ray actually the quarterback keeps it across the 40 for the first down up to the 42 yard line gain a seven that's enough for a first down.
They'll move the sticks.
It starts scrimmaging from the 42 yard line.
Cole Seager has just put his head down there and really bull rushed on ahead.
Early on this week in the In the Score Atlanta newsletter, I was kind of saying, who is the next Timmy Byerly Jimmy Bailey of Chattanooga last year.
Yeah.
Cole Great is putting his name in the.
Yard with a runner on the right side, very near the first down as he crosses midfield, dives into territory and he's going to be brought down enough for the first down, says the referee.
As they stop, the clock again moves the sticks after a gain of about eight.
But there's a flag down, so let's wait and see what that is holding on the offense.
So check that about a first down.
Yeah, it's going to be coming back right there.
And that play goes for not going to get an offensive lineman I do believe for a hold the initial line and he's going to push it back make things a little more difficult for Cole Secrets.
We've got the Warner Robins coaching staff next to us.
I don't think they saw that flag either because they were not happy with that run.
And normally, you know, when you're up, you're sitting next to coaches, they think there's a flag on every play and they didn't even see the green flag are holding.
So I don't think they saw it either.
But a big loss on first down all the way back now to the 35 yard line where to be first and ten from there.
At the line to get is the 47 yard line of Warner Robins.
Back to throw a cigaret it looks to us right comes back to his left ball bounced around caught it the 35 3040 get most of that penalty back that's Bobby Hill who made the reception and a nice run after the catch as well.
Get a nice spin move.
It looked like he was going to try to cut to the inside but spun to the outside.
We'll see right here.
See Graves dropping back finds Hill.
Here's where he really starts to cut, spins out and runs, gets nearly to the 45 yard line that's the 4344.
Hill and see graves are excuse me Hill and Smith have almost identical statistics.
They both received over 150 yards.
They both have two touchdowns and they are the main looks.
Although 11 different packers have caught balls from graves already in this season, second down and ten got the penalty back.
See Graves looking down the field.
He has a man open and he just can't hang on it.
And that one was real.
What you say he gunned it.
That's exactly what happened there.
That was smoke right there.
Trying to catch it, I believe was down on the force of the field.
Know Johnson 18.
Yeah.
Johnson It just could not snag it because that ball was going about, oh, I don't know, a million miles an hour.
I think it was about 999 with a pitcher close.
Okay.
He whipped that ball both quarterbacks have great arms and the both receivers on both teams and even the defensive backs that they had a hard time catching the ball tonight sack third down and ten from the 43 back The throw has a man open in the flat, gets the ball and he drops it.
That was probably going to go for a first down.
However, number ten could not squeeze on to the ball.
Matt Zeller.
The running back out of the backfield just kind of drifted out there.
I think we'll see a replay of that here in a second.
And he was wide open and as you say, probably had the distance for the first down.
Well, he was going to have to work for it a little bit, but I think he had a good enough angle that Sailor could have.
As you see right here, he's just kind of sneaks out away from everybody.
I think he has enough to get by 27 to get that first down.
So after what looked like a promising drive stalls, Colquitt will take it away again High snap that gets the ball down Nice kick spiral this time ball bounces at the 33 yard line and we'll go with that there right at the 30 yard line just went sideways on that player.
And I think so far he has not been able to get his foot in.
He's averaging 43 yards a game kicker, 43 yards a punt, and he's had some short punts.
And they're either going to have to say, what do we go by his average or do we move up a few yards because they have not fielded one yet of the three punts and all of them have kind of spun their way and been good breaks for Warner Robins.
An interesting note, Bob, not that it matters on the punts, but it may matter in terms of the offense.
This is the first time that Warner Robins or excuse me, that Colquitt is playing on grass this season for all four of the regular season games have been at home on the artificial turf.
This is actual grass out there.
And I walked around kind of before the game started and I don't want to say it's as bad as Notre Dame against USC a few years back, but it's it's a little slow you down hype out there.
Well, I can tell you it's a beautiful field, very green.
In that.
Lovely field.
I not go down on the field myself to tell you that, but I can say that looking at up here, it's a gorgeous stadium and they played three schools play here.
There are five schools in Houston County to play down at Perry in Warner Robins, Warner Robins, Northside Warner Robins and in Houston County play here.
The new school veterans in Perry play down in Perry second down and eight from the 32 yard line.
Plenty of time looking long has a man open but goes.
Then there's a penalty.
Flag holding the jersey and probably a smart thing to.
Do.
But it's interesting.
Taylor.
He he really was being guarded quite closely.
But as you going to say too closely because he was hanging on to a shirt, as you've demonstrated as you pull me backwards.
And really they needed to because he was going to beat the defender right there as you could.
Well, it's covered up by our logo, GP sports, but he had a nice grip of the jersey and it was a nice cut to the outside by a key.
Taylor He was gone.
Would have been enough for a touchdown because he beat the defender after one of those good penalties that the coach says, I don't mind.
After Taylor Matt we accused him of having a little too much zip on the ball.
He's demonstrated two plays in a row, a very nice soft getting air under the ball passes one one incomplete, and the other one went for a penalty in a first down.
He's throwing the ball more tonight, I believe, than he did in the first two games combined in the way through 23 times.
And he's darn close to 20 already.
We've still got 6 minutes to go here.
The first half.
Again remind you that that Georgia Public Broadcasting Television has the merits in Southwest a cab game.
And this game was at the pace it normally does you'll be able to watch the fourth quarter that and GPP that erred and again we want to thank all the papers down here that are carrying our game on the Web tonight.
Thank you very much.
First and ten from the 3043 yard line and there's absolutely no gain in that one brought down for a loss.
The Anthony Mack was running with the ball, but not very far.
Yeah.
The nice job of collapsing with a little bit of a run blitz by the Colquitt County Packer defensive line.
Make a nice move to off the internet for he can get anything going.
Call it a loss of the yards second down and 11 from the 41 yard line Warner Robins clock just went under 6 minutes in the second quarter.
Warner Robins, the home standing team leading seven to nothing.
One man flanked the sides, the quarterback out of back to throw as old as time gets it out in the flat the ball's just too low 18 Taylor was the was the receiver I don't think that play would have gone for much yardage but.
It was a it was a lateral pass.
You know, it was just stepped off the line of scrimmage.
Actually, they didn't step backwards of course, was a four pass, but it was going to go for not because it's almost a good thing that he dropped it as.
Well covered too, that that play just didn't really have a chances Colquitt was ready for.
It probably would have lost a little bit of yardage.
So actually, even to the dismay of the coach itself, it was probably a good thing they went under under his hands.
Third down and 11 the ball at the 41 yard line.
After a 15 yard penalty for pass interference, Oldham needs 11 yards to keep this drive alive.
Throws the ball out bubble stream to Taylor and he's brought down after very little gain maybe a yard back to the original line of scrimmage brings up fourth and down they'll have to kick it.
Away yeah that was a linebacker, by the way.
Anthony Bradley, who stepped out there, got a key.
Taylor to bring him down for very little gain.
So credit the athleticism of a linebacker being able to corral Taylor Ford back to punt and it looks like Cooper is going to be receiving it and he weighs everybody.
Away and the ball hits at the 23 yard line goes out of bounds.
That's probably the worst kick that young man Floyd has had all night.
And it still had good effect because it drove out of bounds with no return.
5 minutes and 9 seconds to play in the first half, Colquitt, who seemed to move the ball well in the first quarter, needs to reestablish that momentum in that timing and move the ball up the field.
Yeah, I mean, a couple of first downs would definitely do wonders for the squad getting into the getting across the 40 across the 30 would be nice if you're Coach Rush probes you want to be able to get down there and at least give Luna a chance at a field goal.
Get your team on the board before halftime.
Got about 5 minutes to go to get a little bit of momentum before the second half.
To a two running backs flanking.
See graves.
He takes it to the left, keeps the ball himself, crosses the 25 yard line and that much more.
So they ran in the same directions as the heavyweight side of the field was.
But Seagrave decided to keep it himself.
And now there's a flag down late.
Let's see if it's holding or whether it is a penalty.
And the defense.
Has thrown in the vicinity of 76.
I didn't see anybody around help.
And it looks like there what are the officials is having who threw the flag is having a discussion with 76.
So we'll get to see what it is.
A penalty against Warner Robins usually when it comes that late that it's usually on the defense.
And that was the case this time.
I'm not quite sure what that signaled that.
But whatever.
Personal foul.
It is going to be a 15, it's gonna be a big penalty against Warner Robins and bring them out all the way out near the 40 yard line for Colquitt.
And actually a little pass the 40 to the 42 yard line that gives them a first down and that very close to crossing the the other side of the field which your you're Mr. Proctor Checklist was the first thing they needed to do is get the cross midfield and establish some momentum from the 42 yard line see graves hands to his running back he's brought down in the backfield escapes one tackle still on his feet and now he's going to be brought down for a huge loss.
Yeah that that more than wiped out the penalty all of a sudden you make the first attempt of 42 to second in a country miles at 30 yard line looked like woodyatt was going to try to make something out of nothing.
As you could see, he escapes one, but he's not going to escape.
Number two, 40 over 45, the second player through and he's able to just come up with a nice play.
Dunker Taylor the second down and a big last more than ten yards second down and 20 hands.
See, graves keeps the ball tries to the left side gets up to about the 35 yard line it's Taylor again third down and 18 Dr. Taylor all over the field first making a tackle in the backfield.
Now coming up in the flat to make one.
He's all over.
He's just sniffing out whomever is carrying the ball.
Third down and long.
So after thinking that Colquitt was doing what they needed to do to start to get some momentum back, now they've got third down in a big play coming up again, two receivers to the top of the screen, two running backs flanking the quarterback.
See Graves long step count rather and they finally snap the ball back to him.
Looking down the field has Smith and Smith bumps in and they play the play is clean He's at the 30, 25, 20 down to the 15 yard line.
And I think that was just inadvertent contact.
And Smith was standing there all by himself.
The top for Colquitt is going to have a 50 yard gain at that point.
Yeah, we're going to see right here.
I would say that that's got to be inadvertent contact Bob.
And Warner Robins is, of course, going to, you know, yell for the flag and do anything.
He maybe could have gotten the flag right there for a horse collar tackle, but I think they were both looking for the ball.
It didn't look from our vantage point like it was.
One yards and that place turns the field around.
Now they hand the ball a good yard.
He's trying the left side.
He's brought down for a lost and a penalty flag.
And again, the head coaches from Warner Robins are right next to us.
And I think it's very interesting that they did not squawk at all about that inadvertent contact.
I think they realized that that but here's a holding committee.
But the plane loses five yards.
But you're right.
I think you might have to turn this penalty down and take the down in the distance.
I would.
Because first and first, the 22nd, 15, I'll take second and 15 because it's one less down coach approach completely.
I agree with you, but it looks to me like they're getting ready to mark this penalty off, which but I would say I'm a little surprised.
317 to play Warner Robins.
Nope, they're going to set the ball where the game was.
No other saying.
The penalty was from where the end of the run.
So it's going all the way.
Back to 30, I guess.
I guess the penalty is from the spot of the foul.
So ten yards from there, if if the happened in the backfield and yes I got to be an extremely long penalty.
So I'll be first down at the 30 yard line first and 25.
But they've picked up a long first down the last time, so let's see what they do here.
Seekers has one man behind him this time back to throw it.
See, Graves has time looking down the field throwing long.
Nobody it except the Warner Robins player and he makes the interception at the two yard line.
Wow that was a nice, nice play by jumper.
One Jaylen Roundtree makes And now there's another flag.
Let's wait and see what they're going to call here.
But I'm going to guess that it's against Colquitt.
But we'll wait and see.
The only man near that ball was Jaylen Roundtree.
He was clearly playing center field on that one.
And let's see who throws it.
Looks like.
The call was against Warner Robins, but if it happened after the play.
Like that one, well, let's see what they're going to do.
It looks like they're going to put the ball at the one yard line.
So I think you're right.
It happened after the interception.
At the distance of the goal from one is the half yard.
Somebody threw the ball up a block trying to help the running back, I believe.
But Warner Robins will have the ball first and ten.
They're putting the ball at the one yard line, as you said, maybe the one and a half.
So now that I would think they would go pretty conservative here and just try to run it out of this deep hole they're in, but they stay a touchdown and keeps keeps the score seven and nothing very good defensive play by an offensive player Roundtree does not play much.
We don't even have a man or two deep.
But we do remember him from the job he's done, running and catching the ball for them.
And now Colquitt wants to call a timeout and set up their defense.
We'll take that timeout with him with 3 minutes and 6 seconds to play in the first.
Let's take a break.
And you're listening to Georgia Public Broadcasting Game of the week.
A tour is for Warner Robins to get this ball out of trouble.
And that gave Colquitt ball back with time and good field position.
Yeah.
When you when you get down to the two yard line, lots of funny things can happen.
Yeah.
Even a bad snap or a hold at this point of the field.
If you're holding in the end zone, everyone knows that's a safety.
Two points, a bad snap, a bobbled snap, whatever, a free rusher coming through this is a the danger zone is Kenny Loggins would like to say down here for Warner Robins however the gladly take this opposed to having.
The ball he was just saying the same thing the real danger zone was they were ready to score from the close formation to hand the ball to the second man throw.
He's at the five.
He got him some breathing room.
Just what the doctor there as he picks up five yards out three yards really gets it out to the five yard line.
Yeah.
Check the replay here.
Yeah.
He just gives it to the second man through following his blockers and picks up a huge.
You do not know how big that five yard gain was.
That's that's maybe the biggest five yard gain you can have on the field.
I believe that was number 30. Who we have listed is Greg Tanner.
So we're going to check in our Thomas Greg Rather.
We're going to check to make sure they're still in that tight t formation there.
So the handoff goes to the middle man and a T, he maybe picks up a yard or two.
So correct me if I'm wrong, I.
Would say so.
Much as if I've just talked about the Statue of Liberty, the double reverse at the T formation are we in the year 2011?
But those are plays we've seen in this quarter from the team that's winning the game.
Yeah.
It seems like seems like we're at maybe 1911 as they play out there you before the four pass was invented but you know their.
Formation was there.
Leaving nothing out on the field, nothing in the playbook.
They're going to use it all because they're trying to pull off or be the biggest upset we've seen on GPP in quite some time.
Third down and four, they are still lined up.
Three running backs behind the quarterback and he is throws a right side.
It goes to oh and he's going to be brought down for a big loss and that was De'anthony Mac trying to break something out of the right side.
And they kept pushing him sideways, pushing him sideways and credit 30 for making a big time play.
Coming up to make a big stop.
As you can see right here on the replay, Darius Davis comes up, loses helmet, but still manages to string out back.
And when you've got Mack moving east, west versus north, south, that's good news for the Packers defense.
They did not give him forward either.
They marked the ball back at the four.
I guess they call that a generous spot for the defense.
So Colquitt calls time out here wisely so.
So they'll have exactly 100 seconds here to try and do something with it.
As we get ready to play the last with a second left with one timeout left seven to nothing.
Warner Robins played a very good first half, and now Colquitt going to have a chance to try and flip that scoreboard in the last 100 seconds of of the first half.
Yeah.
This is this is crucial here because remember, Bob, if they can get good field position, their defense did what they had to do.
They had to hold once they turned the ball over deep and were a territory they hold.
Oscar Luna is a very talented kicker.
He could put some points on the board and Colquitt will get the ball to start the second half.
Trey Cooper at the Warner Robins Yard line.
So a good field position unless something happens in low snap bobbled, the snap gets away with that, kicks the ball away, gets a good kick away and the ball will bounce at the 35 yard line.
Great recovery by that young man, Kyle Floyd.
After the snap came down low, he was able to run around it, soccer style, kick it out of there to get at least at the 35 yard.
And here's the replay.
And he did not bobble or excuse me, he did not panic.
That's the thing.
So many times you see players, they get so frustrated or flustered not just at high school, but in college and even in the pros, when you're at your own ends of the punter, when your heels are on the on the line, and you know that if you step backwards at all.
But oh, no, now the ball's rolling to me.
A guy coming into me almost untouched.
He didn't panic at all, picked it up, managed to get away a little bit.
I know the ball's inside the 40 yard line, but it's a lot better than two points on the board.
They actually market at the 37 yard line, a 34 yard pass, different.
Quarterback.
Back to throw.
That's the sophomore running out to his right, throwing the ball on the run and incomplete.
The young man is Daniel Mobley and he's actually thrown 16 for 24 with a touchdown this year.
I kind of thought that was in my mind.
They like him a lot as a sophomore and they're probably just getting see graves a quick blow here, although that's a critical part of the game to be putting in a sophomore quarterback.
Well, you know, it's something that they've done all season long throughout the four games.
See, Graves, of course, is is the guy that everybody knows about recruiting wise.
But like you mentioned, he's now 16 of 24 for 152 yards.
He does have one touchdown last week came in was was one of two for about four yards but he's able to get in there just kind of as a little bit of a change of pace.
Second down and ten back to throw.
He has a man incomplete had a man kind of open there at Ty Smith again.
But the that pass was not even close.
In between to targets Ty I guess was the closest packer to it.
But there was, as you can see right there, number 15.
Also on the screen, I agree with you, this is a little bit curious by Bay, a coach who's won five state titles in Alabama four in a row that you would that you would bring in this situation.
I understand he wanted a platoon but it's it's interesting you bring him in with a chance to score under under a minute and a half to go with the.
First half, third down and ten back.
The throw has time up steps into the pocket.
Right now he looks to run, throws the ball out in the flat.
The ball is caught near the first down and whilst back it'll be very, very close to a first down there actually similar I think he's just short and saying he got out of bounds.
So that stops the clock with a minute, 11 seconds.
I'm looking to see if I can see number 13 on the sideline.
He's coming back in right now.
I wonder if he was dinged up at three.
He did come in with a little bit of a limp.
It's fourth down in inches now.
Every time that they've had fourth and short, they've run the quarterback out of this pistol formation, if you will.
And he's picked up the first down.
It's almost a Tim Tebow single winning offense here.
There it is.
Fourth and goal or fourth and inches that quarterback keeps the ball has the first down and plenty more as he crosses the 25 yard line down to the 24 yard line clock stops with a minute six to play.
Yes, they still have one more time out, but they don't really have their full playbook any more.
With only 66 seconds to play in the quarter.
Well, the clock will start to get out of bounds.
The clock will stop if you pick up a first down, if you do have one to play with, you're at the 25 yard line.
While you can't do much slow developing that, they get stopped.
However, I think they've got more options than you think they do.
Clock under a minute back to throw a great as time over to the middle.
He goes in a diving leap for the ball but just falls off his hands incomplete.
Great stretch for the ball on that one by that young man, but he just couldn't come down with.
It as we'll see the replay right here, you see see graves dropping back in the pocket, waiting, delivers a strike.
Just just drop.
To be honest with you, Bobby, he had to die for it.
But that should be a play that the school fought for.
Ty Smith probably comes up with not a ten times.
Second down and ten from the 24 yard line.
One man flanking next to see great stretch keeps the ball, runs the left side down to the 20, across the 20 down to the 18 yard line.
That'll bring up third down in about four yards to go and cockpits have to their last timeout stopping the clock with 40 seconds to play they are in field goal range and when they do it this game is being played so far.
Three points would be big for both coaches are going to talk this one over so we'll let somebody else talk about a message from Georgia Public Broadcasting after this timeout.
And more popular apps.
You're the it young modern guy.
Tell Me about that app?
Well, I'm going to be checking out the app.
Don't tell any police officers, but on my way back, you know, trying to watch all the action on demand in action live on TBS app on my way home, you know, you could check out everything, whether it's the blogs, whether it's, you know, the on demand games, whether it's anything you want.
GPB On the GPB app, it's free.
One of the top 100 sports apps out there right now.
Third down and 540 seconds to play.
We do not recommend driving and watching to see.
Just sit back to throw a throws the ball out in the flat court for the first down and a little bit more he's at the ten and inside the ten down to the nine yard line.
But more importantly, I guess that more important to getting the first down.
But as important he gets out of bounds, it stops the clock with 32 seconds fresh.
Set it down, too.
Depending on where the spot is.
I don't think they're going to put it down.
Just shy the ten yard line.
So they technically could pick up another first down, but they might as well be going for the goal.
And with only 32 seconds and no timeouts, they will be throwing the ball in the end zone because if they don't get into the end zone, they have to stop the clock and look at their two quarterbacks again.
Well, I think right now they're doing that because Coach Prose has a play.
He wants to get it in and he's probably going to tell is what the next play is and have him come in to kind of save on a time out.
Mobile back to throw has time now he's looking man a wide open he throws the ball to the wide open man for the touchdown.
Pass complete to Matt Sailor right there in the backup quarterback to a player that didn't play one year ago who have thought that would be the first scoring play for Cole for.
Sailor just kind of snuck out of the backfield from his defense, from his offensive position and was wide open just sitting in the end zone and a young sophomore quarterback found it in the end zone wide open, hit him with the ball and the young man just cradled it and brought it down to the platform as see him replay now Oscar winner will try to make his fifth extra point of the year and he does he's a perfect 15 for 15 but more importantly with 24 seconds to go, they're now saying no good net ball cleared of the goal post by about 30 yards, but evidently not in between them.
So with 24 seconds to play the new score, Warner Robins, the home team leading 7 to 6, but not tied up at 77.
And boy, that that tech just had plenty of leg works.
We're showing it we.
Don't have it.
Here's the extra point again it it look good.
Although you could do it near the court.
The kicker knew right away that he had missed it.
Why did I guess left?
So Warner Robins dodges a board, keeps the lead, and, you know, maybe a little bit of fate would have to say that the way they played the first half, it kind of deserved to be in by one point is we're going to be heading to the locker.
Room and of course, we all remember the opening game of the season.
They missed their extra point.
They go on to lose 726 to Peach County, baby to the fates are smiling on.
And after an extra point this caused the lose the first game baby like we said they've got the lead.
One and a half.
That's the first touchdown that Warner Robins has given up in the first half of the game this year.
And it took down in the final 24 seconds.
When they've only given up one all you.
Want, all here done in the first half until tonight.
And as I said, only 24 seconds left.
Now, one thing you brought up, too, is that Colquitt scores a touchdown in the final minute and they are going to get the ball to start the second half.
And that could be a factor when you kind of get a touchdown.
Maybe that sets the momentum for the second half, but we'll wait and see.
24 seconds, one timeout.
So just like that.
One back there, they try to do that.
They'll be here with the.
Arm that we've seen tired of in the breakaway ability of the key.
Taylor I wouldn't put it past least try one little Switzerland so we can come up with again.
I think it'll depend a little bit and how far they run this kick back to the kickoff.
It's a high over under.
There will be a run back at the five for the ten, 15, 20 cuts out to the right.
25 is going to keep the pass.
The 30 still on his feet to near the 40 yard line before he's brought down.
And the kicker brought it down.
And the kicker who pushed it out had to make the tackle and a fine run back to right by de right.
And they at that count the coaches next to us noticed that the clock was still ringing.
And I think they're right.
It did have 15 seconds on it and they ran it down to about six.
So they're going to have to reset this clock and get it right.
I think they haven't done it yet.
Well, the officials, I think, are are insulting right now.
It depends on when he stepped out some time, probably should go back on.
We'll just have to see eventually what the officials decide, how much time is be put back on seven.
Six is the score.
The clock right now says 6 seconds.
They got it out to the 35 yard line.
So that actually meant he stepped out of bounds long before the clock ticked down to even 15 seconds.
Yeah, I wasn't I wasn't sure, to be honest with you myself, how when he stepped.
Out, but they put the ball at the 35 yard line.
Fine.
It's certainly a good enough run to try to do something, especially if you have 15 seconds in one timeout.
But 6 seconds would change everything here.
So the referees are talking we're looking down at this clock operator.
We haven't seen him even trying to put any more time back.
And I don't think they're going to it looks to me like unless they're going to keep the time on the field, this ball is going to the clock's going to be started with 6 seconds to go.
And that just doesn't give you much time to do anything but the heat at one time down the field and try to do something with it.
Well, keep an eye on the near side of the field.
Number 12, the key Taylor he's the big play receiver in the first half.
Back to throw has time and the clock is throws the ball down and the ball is caught at the 35 yard line and has the clock has not moved.
So evidently they're keeping the time on the field now.
The ball at the 35 yard line, they went from 135.
They're a gain of 30 yards.
And Warner Robins will call their last time out here again.
Now, we don't know if they're 6 seconds to go.
8 seconds go.
I'm going to guess that the clock was probably about 15 seconds.
That play probably took seven.
So my guess is there's probably 8 seconds.
But with no timeouts, I don't know if they've got a kicker, they can kick the ball that far and that there'd be a 52 yarder.
But this time of the year we've seen that before.
Let's see what happens here as they actually put the ball now at the 36 yard line, big play for 29 yards on that point.
And coach probes is asking right now how much time how much time is left because he wants to know is are they going to have enough time to have to make two stops or just one.
6 seconds, says the scoreboard clock.
But that's what it said before that play took place.
I know they couldn't easily or quickly reset the clock, so they just were keeping it on the field.
Again, I'll say about 8 seconds to go at halftime today with 8 seconds to go in the first quarter Warner Robins leading by a point has the ball in Colquitt territory at the 36 yard line.
Quarterback Odom has one man flank next to him.
That's right two receivers at the top of the screen.
One receiver to the bottom of the screen snap comes to Odom.
He's looking to his right side, throwing the ball down towards and really near nobody and out of bounds and the clock to stop.
What it.
Started to say earlier.
FLETCHER We've got Rachel Daniels has got both principles to speak with tonight, the bans and hey, did you know and maybe the mayor of of Warner Robins, I think there might try to kick a long, long field goal here what's in the water.
And this weekend in the season for much of last year, we saw a 58 yarder.
If he makes this one, it would be over 60 yards, I believe.
So we'll wait and see where they put the ball down 1/2 to go.
Now, sometimes when you're trying to get a kick like this with a 62 yards can be blocked and run back.
So let's see what 50, 52 yards excuse me, from the 42 yard line.
The snap is a good one.
The kick is a way that's short.
Oh, penalty flag on the field, though Barber might have one more shot at defenses.
Creates the penalty.
They'll get one more time at it.
That ball was a kind of a.
And if it's a personal foul, too, that's going to be big time, 18 yards.
That's going to take.
A 52 yarder and make it a 37 yarder.
Let's wait and see.
Neither is leaving the field, so it almost certainly has to be against the defense that they run into the kicker afterwards.
I did not see that.
Well, it's going to be roughing.
The kicker is not running.
Either way.
But that 15 yards as a big that's not just the.
At the 22 yard line.
The seven.
Yards that'll make it a 38 yard kick a easier kick and you start to see anything can happen because you want to block that kick.
But the last thing you want to do is get a second shot at it.
And that Mobley's kick last time was a low line drive.
Now he's got a much easier kick from the 27 yard line, 37 yard kick.
That kick goes away and it looks like it is long enough and it is good.
Kyle Floyd from 35 out, 37 out.
So we played 24 minutes of high school football in that Georgia public broadcasting game of the week.
And the score, as you can see on your screen, Warner Robins ten, Colquitt County six.
We'll be back.
Our halftime activities after this timeout.
Halftime here at McConnell Talbot Stadium.
We've got the home Warner Robins Demons ahead of.
Colquitt County Packers, 10 to 6.
Rachel is down to the sideline with a very special guest, the mayor of Warner Robins.
Rachel, down to you.
All right, thanks, Lester.
All right.
Thanks, Lester.
We're here on the field with the mayor of Warner Robins.
And thank you for being out.
So for having me, Rachel.
Appreciate you coming.
And what I was told is actually are an alumni.
I wonder.
I'm in high school.
I am I am 1979, which was a long time ago.
But I'm alumni very proud to be a part of this school.
So on the Robins High School was actually voted one of the top schools to raise their children.
Correct by Newsweek magazine.
So why do you think that so?
Well, Warner Robins was voted the best place to raise a child you know, we've got an excellent school systems here.
Dr. Robin Hines is an excellent superintendent.
We care about our kids.
We invest our lives in our parks and recreation.
Our Little League team has done very well.
Our sports teams always do well.
We think it's important that the kids get involved in a band, any type of liberal arts.
So invest a lot in our kids.
Okay.
So earlier we talked about, you know, the band is behind us and the importance of our students being involved in activities.
Why do you think that is?
Well, I think any you can get a young kid that that has a purpose.
You know, it keeps them off the street.
It gives them responsibility, it teaches them discipline.
And if you can get a kid's mind, get their heart, you can really just pay their life and their destiny.
And and that's what we care about here at Warner Robins.
I mean, our crime rate is good.
Our educations, our unemployment rates very low.
Heartbeat of our community is Robins Air Force Base.
I mean, we've got a wonderful military here, active Reserve, Coast Guard.
We've got National Guard here.
So we've got a high quality of people that live right here at Warner Robins.
Okay.
So actually, guys, we're going to come right back.
We will be back with the mayor.
But I want you guys to find out some of the interesting fact I found out about Warner Robins High School coming up.
I'm Rachel Daniels with GPB Sports.
And this is Hey, did you know Warner Robins High School, located in Warner Robins, Georgia, was established in 1947 and they're home to the demons ahead of you.
The Warner Robins High School established the Rommel Academy, which was developed to help first time ninth graders in adjusting to their first year of high school.
Did you also know that Warner Robins High School has one of the most successful football programs in the state of Georgia.
And second in the state.
And literally last year.
Time with its high school.
Steve Munday Steve, you have a son on the team.
I think he's only a sophomore, but it's got to be exciting and welcome to it.
We're really glad to be here at Warner Robins.
Well, I thank you for being here.
We really do appreciate it.
We're very proud of our school and community.
Yes.
I guess a different perspective when your son plays.
He's just a sophomore and fortunately Kyle's back kick for us tonight, the senior.
So Kyle must get along really well.
So it's good to see.
And they're cheering for each other.
Tell me about your school.
I know you're very proud of your academics.
Tell us a little bit about that.
Sure.
We are very proud.
We offer over 20 AP classes, advanced placement classes.
We've been a title Distinguished School for the past couple of years and we finished second in the state in literary last year, which combines a lot of different little academic areas along with your course and your drama departments.
So we're well rounded school and very, very proud of what we have here.
More honors, high school.
Great community.
Your Little League team is well known.
Your sports teams are good.
Your first year here.
You guys want a state championship?
Yes, sir.
First year Coach Wyatt and I were together as head coach and principal.
We won a state championship and are proud of our Little League team.
Our quarterback tonight, Ty Odom, his brother was on the Little League team.
So that ball, a lot of different things.
He was running off practice and checking the Little League scores and so forth.
So it was a lot of excitement for Ty and, his brother.
When when you talk about Warner Robins, the economic center down here is your Air Force base.
And I know you have a great relationship with the Air Force base in your school.
Oh, yes, sir.
We sure do.
And not only is the economic development, but the diversity that the Air Force brings to this school and community is really unique.
We have people from all over the world, and that brings us just, you know, increases and really helps strengthen your school back.
Steve Monday, thank you very much for stopping by.
You've been a great host.
We really appreciate you felt our whole team we got to meet a lot of the parents was really a.
Great to be here.
Well you're only as good as your parents and your supportive community support.
They were glad they were excited for y'all to be here.
And we appreciate your support of.
All high school athletics.
Thank you very much.
Rachel Daniels had a chance to do a feature on the roster Warner Robins goal.
We'll look at that and then we'll be back to talk to their band after this timeout.
Hey, guys.
And we're back with the band Dirt of Colquitt County.
And this is actually your marching band playing behind it.
So we actually did Mr. Halftime Show, I believe.
But could you tell me what the name of it.
Oh, tribute to New Orleans.
We're doing a mardi Gras and Cajun kind of music.
So for this year, you building your program, is there anything that we need to be looking forward to?
Yes, as we go through, we're building our everything about our March style, about our playing ability and trying to learn a little culture about the Cajun music, the cages down the swing style with the jazz music that we're doing for this Dixieland.
Are you from New Orleans?
Is that why that's the theme?
My family is from New Orleans for Burbridge, Louisiana.
So how long have you been a band director yourself?
21 years.
And you've been here a Colquitt for how long?
Six weeks.
Just.
We've done lot.
This is a brand new program.
Yes.
Yes, it is.
So how far do you plan on taking your band?
Well, I know we're going play football for quite some time, so we'll be doing a lot of football work and halftime work.
And we're also going to do some contests and traveling tomorrow.
We're traveling to Georgia Tech for the Georgia Tech Band and performing for the halftime.
Okay.
Well, thank you so much for talking with us and guys.
Coming up, hey, did you know about some interesting facts I found out about the accounting firm?
Check it out on behalf of.
I'm Rachel Daniels with GPB Sports and this is hey did you know Colquitt County High School located in Moultrie, Georgia, is home to the Packers Colquitt County High School, opposite students many different clubs and organizations to be a part of, such as the Science Club, the our club, the Y club, the marching band, and many more.
Thank, you know, each year Colquitt County High School has had students nominated and participate in the governor's honors program.
Good job, guys.
Ladies, we're joined now by Ryan Wilson and the board of the ousted county.
And every week we talk to somebody about the Shape program and we're very happy to have you here tonight.
And tell us a little bit about the Shape program and how Hosting County is taking care of it.
Okay.
Well, it's a new and upcoming program that's working here in Harrison County, and we use the old president for physical fitness testing for years.
And now we're moving into the new fitness assessment, which will assess every child in Harrison County schools that take a p e class.
In addition, a report will be generated sent home to that family so they'll know his level of fitness as well as a report sent to the governor's office.
Like almost everything, there has to be cooperation between the school and the home.
Let's talk about the home and how important that is.
Well, home is very important.
It all starts at home.
One of the things we do here is we work very closely with our school nutrition program as those guys educate our young people on proper eating habits and things that they need to do outside of school and away from school, as well as our physical educators educating them on the exercise part of that as well.
And I hope that that might not only for the youth that, but we'll also turn over to the parents turning over a new leaf.
Oh, absolutely.
Turn over to the parents.
You know, one of the things the parents think is that they got to go out and do something big and extravagant, join a gym and work out three or four days a week.
But really, if they did something just as simple as walking every day, you know, just getting out with the family and getting involved that's important as well.
It's good health and it's good exercise both.
And Mr. Wilson, what do you do to stay in shape, huh?
Well, personally, I recently joined a gym, a fitness gym, to kind of get my level of fitness.
But I try to walk every morning.
I try to get up prior to going to work about 5 a.m. every day and get a little walking.
I think it's very, very important that that we re emphasize P.E.
and I'm glad that the governor's office I think they're getting a lot of support from Mrs. Obama as well.
And it's a very port and important program.
Absolutely.
Certainly bringing the physical education programs back in the forefront and sort of tying in the emphasis of physical education to actually the young people.
They're going to do much better on tests, on their performances in school when they're healthy and eating correctly.
We've gotten a chance to talk to the principal.
Now we've got to talk to the school board.
We've been felt very welcome here in Houston County.
Thank you very much for joining us.
And we'll be back with more halftime activities after this timeout.
Some general tips to try to prevent a heat related illness in our youth are several.
The first one is is try to schedule the your workouts or activities towards the cooler times of the day.
Here in the south, the peak heat seems to occur between 230 and 6:00.
So scheduling your workouts or activities during the morning hours or later in the evening will definitely help a Secondly, make sure that the the overweight or the UN acclimated kids have time to acclimate if they come from from the northern climates, if they're out of shape, if they're not used to exercising in the heat, make sure that you allow them 10 to 14 days to slowly exercise in the heat, to get their body used to it before that, before the practices start.
Secondly, or thirdly, they need to schedule water breaks frequently throughout the throughout the practice.
Make sure the kids remember you can't fill up your tank with fluids right before the practice.
The pre hydration period needs to start the day before, so make sure that you pre hydrate the day before your activity.
During activity, kids less than £100 need to drink about 5 to 6 ounces every 20 minutes.
Kids over £100 need to drink 6 to 8 ounces every 20 minutes to try to maintain their hydration status.
Also make sure that their shade or a kiddy pool or some cooling mechanisms available if a child should suffer early signs of a heat related illness, then other caregivers, such as coaches or trainers, need to make sure there's a cell phone available during all practices, just in case emergency personnel need to be contacted.
Don't forget about sunscreen with athletes.
Oftentimes we don't think about wearing sunscreen, but mildly sunburned skin is less effective at dissipating heat and cooling our body than.
Sunburn skin.
Storing a sunscreen with SPF of 15 or greater, especially during sweating and during swimming, is very important.
Remember, youth sports are rules are not carved in stone.
For example, a two half soccer game can be divided up into four quarters to provide scheduled water breaks for the kids.
Also, referees can certainly stop the game and have official timeout.
Similar to the TV timeout we see in the pros, they can schedule a scheduled water break, so make sure these kids drink periodically throughout contests.
Then the last tip for young athletes is drink the fluids, don't pour.
Even though pouring water on your head might make you feel cooler, that doesn't improve your hydration status at all.
So if your own water or a fluid, make sure that you drink it.
Don't pour it down or perhaps an incredible halftime here.
McConnell Talbot Stadium, Warner Robins, leading number two, Colquitt County, 10 to 6.
We've got some highlights from the first.
I'll tell you exactly how we got to that score of 10 to 6 with Warner Robins on top here at the hole where the demons, everything got underway in the first quarter.
Teams went back and forth.
The couple of pints, as you see the stadium, they're here at Warner Robins, Georgia, Middle up after a couple of nice passes.
Here's Cole County on offense and this is really where the defense stepped up to play after stopping on first down, down and long, a fumble comes out.
There's Trey Cooper, coughs it up.
Recovering is Warner Robins.
And then they would turn the ball over themselves.
A nice interception, you see number 34 jumps up to snag the pick away.
Nothing would come of that, though, eventually getting it right down.
That was Ty Odom finding his favorite receiver, the first half, Akeem Taylor.
And there's Taylor again, almost off to the races as he gets down inside the 20 yard line.
A nice handoff.
This is D.D.
Wright.
Makes a nice move to the inside.
It looked like Warner Robins was going down to score early on.
They initially give it getting all the way down to the two yard line and then getting into the end zone as a defender.
Michael Lee, he gets it.
The Warner Robins, the lead with 25 seconds left in the first quarter.
This is a nice play right here 51 yards to tie Smith on third 23 getting all the way down inside the 15 yard line.
However, one play later, it looks like the ball kind of floats away a little bit from Cole.
See Graves up for grabs coming up away with it.
Inside the five yard line is Warner Roberts.
They take over inside their own five.
A penalty would make it inside their own one yard line.
They would have to punt, giving the ball back to Colquitt, as you see right there, getting inside is Trey Cooper inside the five yard line.
This is the back of quarterback Daniel Mobley who's looking, looking.
And all of a sudden right there, we've got Matt Saylor in the quarter, the end zone by himself.
He cradles, it falls to the ground, 7 to 6.
However, the extra point would be no good.
Oscar win his first miss of the season.
Now it's under 15 seconds left to play, you see, winding down at the end of the first half.
Akeem Taylor They would attempt a 52 yard field goal.
No good, but a roughing the kicker penalty would make it a 37 yard field goal try with 1/2 left and that would be up and good by Kyle Floyd your score at halftime the number two team in the state Colquitt County trailing 10 to 6 as you see right there Warner Robins looking for their second win of the season.
They've had a week off to prepare.
We'll take a quick break and prepare you for the second half.
Coming right up.
What's your bracket, Bob?
Help.
We're at McConnell Tiger Stadium here on the GPB network.
Our halftime score, 10 to 6 and Fletcher Colquitt County will get the ball to start the second half.
I'm going to ask you a question.
It may seem obvious since they're trailing, but who has to play better in the first 5 minutes?
Colquitt to get the momentum back or the team that's the underdog having a hang on here.
I would say Warner Robins the pressure is still on them without question.
They played as bad as well as you can play in the first half.
However, they're only up by four points.
You've seen really kind of disjointed.
Cole Siegrist doesn't have the touchdown pass for Coker.
It seems everything that could have gone wrong did.
Yet they still find themselves only trailing by four.
You really need, if you're a demon fan out here for the Demons defense to come up big stuff.
Cole, see Graves and company get them off the field, get your off its back on the field and kind of prove that the first half was no fluke.
Want to remind everybody that, the Georgia Public Broadcasting television game is southwest to Cabot Merritt.
That game started about 40 minutes after hour, so it'll end about the same and you can watch it on GPB dot org.
You can watch both games, you can watch it on TV and switch over.
Watch it on your app.
And both games will be up and available tomorrow morning on GPB Dad.
Org.
And any time you want to go back and watch highlights of any of the games we've done so far, one remind you that we have got prep news, we have our new newsletter that you've contributed greatly to.
And if you want to know about high school sports, it's basically through score, Georgia public broadcasting.
All the way you go anywhere else.
And also want to talk a couple of other things about we're getting all our thank you's out of the way.
And well, thank again the Valdosta Daily Times and their sister newspapers in Moultrie and Tifton as they bring this game to you in south Georgia tonight.
And we couldn't be happier with the hospitality we've had from everybody down here in Warner Robins.
Yeah, Valdosta, Daily Times, The Observer Gazette, all those papers, you can find images, press newscom I rely on them heavily when I'm helping to put that website together.
And a lot of great writers all across the state, including several great writers, each of those three newspapers, we appreciate the help that they give us.
We talked earlier about the interactive check in the poll and that I'm going to let you explain the poll question.
But it's asking, is it easier to be the number one team with the target on your back, or is it easier to kind of sneak up on people and you can go to the poll and figure out how you want to answer that?
I think you and I somewhat agree on that, that you'd rather kind of sneak up on people.
I think it's it's definitely if you're a coach, you obviously want to be the No.
One believes in us.
You can rally yourself in the locker room of It's the world against us.
That's kind of clichéd.
You hear it's used over and over again.
I also have a lot of respect, though, for the Buford to this world, to the sandy creeks.
This world, Sandy Creek has the has the state's longest current winning streak right now at 31 games.
They played tomorrow at the Georgia Dome against Drew.
You know, when, you know, week in and week out, you're getting in everyone's best shot yet you still managed to win.
I have a very healthy respect.
No, no offense to the to the underdogs that go on kind of shocked the world, if you will.
However, when you know that everyone is gunning for you, yet you still can pull it off like Buford has for four years, like Wesleyan used to do at single-A Bath.
But I got to have a lot of respect for the teams who know, who have that bullseye not on the backs and the fronts everywhere, all over.
I can still go out there and do it.
A lot of kudos to Coach Walker, Coach Simpson, and.
Next week we're going to see Buford up close and personal with the last team.
I think beat him during the regular season was love it and.
Beat him at home.
Beat him at home then and they're going to play love it.
Lions are going to travel up and play the preferred it at Buford and I'm looking forward never been to Buford High School, never been to the stadium.
Oh, my goodness.
I'm looking forward to seeing that and seeing for real, the number one team in the state and gunning for another state title.
Should be a lot of fun.
There's a there's about six member or six players on the team that could be able to score 44.
They have three.
We'll see if they can put any more in there before next week.
And I do also want to remind people that in two weeks we're going to do a very special game.
We'll be up in Ringgold, Georgia, on September 30th.
Ringgold, of course, the school that was devastated by that tornado.
Now, it was a school devastated, but the community lost eight lives, including two high school students will be there to do the game against Heritage, their arch rival, where they had to go to school with each other for the last three months.
And they were still doing that till about two weeks ago.
So that'll be an emotional game, but it will be a pretty good football game, at least as of tonight.
They're both undefeated.
Yeah, those teams really, they in your time of need, they may be your biggest rival, but they're also your saving grace.
Those that community really stretched out, helped each other and tip your cap to both of those two programs that they've been able to cut back, as well as help out their neighbors.
Kyle Floyd, who is field goal, ended the first half and made the score 10 to 6, will now do the kicking off to start the second half for Warner Robins.
Colquitt will get ball and they've got their two speed demons back deep for them.
Careful, they're not the demons, they're the Packers.
They've got their speed.
They pack a lot of speed, if you will.
Is that what you're trying to say?
Willie Woodward's number 11, Trey Cooper's the other man back deep and Floyd is about to get the second half underway.
24 more minutes of the high school football, the home team underdogs ahead.
10 to 6 is the line drive kick will make the goal pass the goal and go out of bounds first and ten to the 20 for the Colquitt Packers.
Now one of the things we want to see from Colquitt is how they mix the ball up a little bit.
They've been both teams have been a little bit more passer than I expected.
We showed the statistics almost exactly 5050, yet in the first half they've thrown the ball more than they've run it.
And I'll be also to see who is maybe not under center, but who comes out of the shotgun formation.
Cole Secrets.
You would think he's played some, but we've also seen him kind of limping a little bit as he he's the one trotting out there, but he seems to be maybe favoring that that right leg just a little bit.
He is the spread formation is one man, Cooper flanked on his right hand side.
The ball was a snap first and ten from their own 20 yard line.
As we start the second half, Warner Robins leading 10 to 6.
Snap goes back through the pits, bought the flat to the receiver, gets lost at the 25.
Ty Smith crosses the 30 yard line and has a first down.
And again that was one of those runs after catch he caught the ball behind the line of scrimmage.
It turned into a 11 yard play.
Here's the replay.
Now, you've apparently talked to some of the coaching staff.
They call this guy t flow.
And you can see how he well, right here in the replay, how he flows out there.
He plays wide receiver at this level.
The next level when he goes to Georgia Matriculants there he will be set as a tight end.
Quarterback, keeps the bomb south, runs up to close to the 35 yard line and gets pushed back gains three or four yards and first down brings up second down and seven.
He's one of those guys where it actually seeing Ty Smith play and he's made several nice plays tonight but you grow to appreciate Jerome who last year for Valdosta we called one of his games he was a tight in every sense of the word was in there blocking whereas you see Ty Smith in there mainly as a receiver.
Second down and seven, they get to the line of scrimmage and as they're want to do, they look to the sidelines to decide what the play will really be.
And now they're set to go from second and seven back to throw, throws the ball out in the flat the ball is caught and gets crushed close to the first down there.
As intended for 17 and 17 comes away with the catch that's Keyshawn.
We saw Taylor targeted early on in the game.
That's his first catch, though, I believe, since the first quarter.
And he gains that just short of the first down bring up third down in inches here.
And again, we've noticed here on these third or fourth in shorts, they give the ball to the quarterback from this from the spread formation.
So and he's a hard, tough runner.
Let's see what they do here on third and short direct snap.
He's running forward has the first down, hops over somebody and picks up a couple of more yards and has the first down at the 43 yard line.
And that is a little Tim Tebow esque, you know, his right handed.
But he was running all the way.
In fact, he was actually moving before the snap got to him and he made a very elusive move, had the first down and then popped for another yards to.
You see a jump right there.
Nice job.
On the replay, he picks up the first down.
You know, I was bringing up a couple of different quarterbacks that, maybe we called last season, we called Timmy Byerly, you know, Tim Tebow lite.
Well, who's Timmy Byerly like?
And of course, Teddy Byerly, you want to kind of be compared to him.
He led his team an undefeated season and a state title last year.
So Betsy Graves is about three inches bigger and probably about £20 heavier than barely.
He is a little bit more like Tebow and he's going to grow some more, only being a junior time.
He rolls to the left and he's got his legs cut out from under him and he's going to be brought down for no game.
Good job by the defensive end, coming back and just trying to trip him up and slow him down.
Actually got him to the ground.
Vid Zach is the one that comes away with the stop right there.
At least he was the initial tackler to take out the legs of C graves before a couple of his teammates came in to finish it up.
And it's going to be second and long.
I'd call it nine and three quarters.
Two running backs on his right side.
They go to the right side and they pitch the second man he's tackled to the line of scrimmage for no gain.
So we said that Warner Robinson, maybe even though they're ahead, there's a little bit more pressure on them and they rise to the occasion here on the first two downs of this series.
Credit, Andrew Taylor, 71, makes a nice play.
Look at him right there, just wraps up it brings it to the ground immediately.
Trey Cooper And this is exactly what happened early on, Bob, as we a new quarterback coming it boldly who threw the touchdown pass.
He's going to come in on third long.
This is what happened the first half, it seems like in that very first possession for Cork.
But they were cruising with the pass.
They tried to throw a little run in there to be more balanced.
That's when we were up and stopped.
Mobley back to throw, runs out of the pocket being chased, blows the ball down the field and it's incomplete, low and out of bounds.
So Warner Robins is held on third down.
They'll kick the ball away and give the ball back to their offense.
To seems a not second guessing the coach here is saying but I sort of have it it seems like an interesting you know situation to bring another quarterback in.
You know, you bring Mobley in at the first time when all of a sudden there's under a minute to play and you're on the 40 yard line.
That's how you break even on third and 11.
It just seems like Mobley is being thrust into some difficult situations.
And he gives away four inches and almost £50.
So he's not going to need a threat to run.
The ball that drives was low snap.
He picks it up and gets away a high spiral up the call a fair catch at the well the ball actually bounces away from it and bounced backward so that kick will only go about 20 yards and maybe not even that as I try to do my Midwesterners.
Out there fairly clear at the first.
Down, they put the ball down at the 40.
It was first and it was the fourth and ten and he got the ball about five yards pass.
That's a 15 yard kick, 9 minutes.
22 seconds to go.
Warner Robins has the ball will keep it right here leading 10 to 6.
So first mission accomplished for the home team.
That's a big play by Warner Robins right there to be able to go there and stop him after giving up a couple of first downs right there, the defense comes to play.
They follow up and prevent another first downs.
With the ball running just trying to get started there.
Nothing there.
Sutton is maybe gain a yard.
I don't think he got anything a gain tackling again, which seems to be the trademark of this Colquitt team.
You know, we've got a couple of guys that lead the team in blocked and tackles in that in Gray and in Washington.
But at almost every play, there's three or four white jerseys at them, especially when they get good containment like that.
He did manage to get a yard somehow out of that and bring up a second down and nine.
Brett Sutton we talked about it in the first half is this is his first season back he missed all of last with a broken neck suffered some damage to the vertebrae and he is now back and running hard the senior after making some nice plays, leading the team with 11 touchdowns as a sophomore coach where, you know, he loves having a back and oh, by the way, he's also got the Anthony back and right there in the backfield.
So we saw it last week with Cal having a nice three headed backfield.
Now we see Warner Robins with a three headed backfield that could really do some damage in class for a.
Second down and nine that there was a penalty called and it was actually against the defense a five yard penalty and I'm almost like they call illegal which of course can't be the call against the defense.
I, I didn't quite understand the official's call, but it's a gain of five yards on the penalty for you know.
They'll take it.
For a Warner Robins it breaks up now second and very manageable of short four yards the ball at their own 46 yard line from the formation from the spread formation he hands the ball off left side again it's Sutton and he's got the first down across midfield, new set of downs for the Warner Robins Demons.
And running with no fear right there.
You never know that he, you know, once suffered a broken neck right there.
He put his head down and bowled for those extra yards and sure enough, he picked up a fresh set of downs.
And he comes to the sidelines now.
But I got to think his parents hold their breath every time the injury was non-football related.
You told me it happened during the off season.
Well, it happened in a pickup football game.
That's right.
And missed all of last year.
And he was training every day with the team, although he was not in contact.
And the doctors finally gave you.
Okay this summer.
D.T.
Right.
Takes the handoff on the right side.
He's at midfield, bounces up to the right side, up to about the 46 yard line and pushed back there after a gain of about three yards.
Yeah.
Warner Coker is doing a good job of making the Warner Robert Roberts running back running east west.
Eventually though you see did right turn his shoulders and get up field for a nice gain of about three yards.
But that was a good job of stringing him out.
They just needed to finish off the string.
Coach Wade told me earlier in the week that he would establish the run and then the pass pretty much in the first half.
We saw a lot of passing now here as they start the second quarter or second, rather, they're trying to establish the run they have, not throwing the ball yet in this drive second down and.
Eight.
Second down and eight from the 46 yard line.
FLETCHER Are you nervous because there's a policeman here back to throw, throwing towards nobody.
They're looking for a flag, but I don't think they're going to get it.
There's actually a state policeman here looking to send a message out in front of you.
Got a little nervous here.
I think he's I think he's looking for the guy he was about driving with his APA.
Oh, my goodness gracious.
But, you know, third down right here, this is a crucial call.
We'll get to see what what they want to dial up.
And Warner Robins is in a spot right now where, you know, of course, they would like to get the first down.
But more importantly, with a four point lead, a touchdown lead, you want get that clock kind of moving.
I know it's early.
Start talking about the beginning clock going but as much time as you can keep Cole, Seagrave and the rest of that Packer offense on the sideline, you want to do it.
Third down and eight, no flag.
There's a rush there and he just has to throw the ball away.
And again, the Packer Colquitt Packer first man just timed his run purpose.
Very, exactly right.
And again, the coaches on our left are complaining about it, but.
I would agree with them.
Where what I was going to say, though not only the time, because there is still plenty of time, but you just don't want to look you don't want to flip the field by making a turnover, a careless mistake, losing a lot of yardage on the play.
So that play broke.
He got rid of the ball.
Now they can kick the ball and give others a bad snap, but he gets away with it again.
The kickers are going to go out of bounds.
Yeah, I'm judging that one.
Probably near the 20 yard line.
But that but that one certainly could have been a disaster as yet another bad snap for that.
The kicker had a run.
I'm going to say right now he's going to get my vote.
The most valuable player, the way the game's gone so far.
We'll explain why after we take a timeout.
10 to 6.
We'll be back after this timeout.
Yeah, listen, that is a second bad snap that the kicker has had to run and get the kick away so they didn't have a loss first.
And ten secrets back in the game throwing long has this man Smith and up just a last minute the Warner Robins player who was beaten at the plate managed to just tip it and deflect it away and it won't see a replay.
Here it looks like even though it was tipped, it could have been caught.
Yeah.
Gardner goes up the last second, recovers and gets enough the hand on the ball to tip it away.
And that distracted Smith enough that he was not able to pull the ball in.
Tell me what?
Tell me.
The kicker.
Hit it twice, get bad snaps that he had to run around and get.
And then, of course, he kicks the field goal that gave him a four lead back to throw it.
See Graves running for his life on the right hand side sets up the screen, but that play was broken up and Woodyard is going to be brought down for a big loss.
And what's the difference?
The game four points.
What's the kicker contributed four points.
A field goal as well as the extra point.
And I would agree with it not just in terms of what he's provided in terms of points on the scoreboard, but field position.
I'm going to agree with you, Pablo, tip my cap to you right there.
Because field position in this game with not a lot of scoring is what's going to be the key.
And if you can control the field, manage to flip it back in your favor with with booming kicks, with with directional kicks, with with whatever you going to do, not panicking in the end zone.
That's going to be big at the end of the day.
Third down and 16, one man flanking Seagrave on his left back.
The throw has time to put that down to field towards Smith and have actually closer to the Warner Robins man who just kind of fell down as he might have had a chance to play on that one.
Well, Gardner again tipped the ball away.
I think he's going take credit for another pass deflection.
I think he's got at least three on the night he's fired up, as you can see him in the middle of the field.
But right now, you're starting to see see graves just drop back and chuck it up in the vicinity of number 80.
I don't know if any panic setting in right now.
Tyler Yost will do that.
I think it's.
Too early to panic.
It it's way too early.
I'm just looking across at the corporate side.
There must be 2000 people here for the Colquitt County.
They've got a great road crowd here and they probably have to wonder whether it's only been six points on the scoreboard.
Yost gets the kick away, not very good off the side of his foot, will not get across the midfield stripe.
So the ball will be in Colquitt territory at, the 48 yard line with 6 minutes ago and we'll be back with that drive after this timeout.
The ball down at the 43 yard line at the 48 yard line.
So great field position.
They only need a first down or two to be in the lane to Floyd handoff.
It goes to Matt White.
But Mack and Mack, who has not had his number called nearly as much as he did last week when he gained 186 yards, goes off the right side and picks up six or seven yards, puts the ball at the 36 yard line.
They went with a quick snap there.
I started to say they only need one or 2/1 downs and they'll be back in Floyd's Lane again.
And that's important because that would give them a full seven point lead instead of this precarious four point lead.
De'anthony Mack leads all of the demons.
He's got two touchdowns in the year, both coming two weeks ago.
I think the quarterback gets it and he hands the ball off and he is brought down on that play.
Just broke down from the snap, the high snap.
It looked like it set the running back moving forward a little quicker than he wanted to go.
The quarter Mark made a great catch, as you'll see, just to get the ball.
He handed the ball off, but there was just nothing happening there.
So they lost all the good yardage they had on first down and I'll be third down and ten from the original line of scrimmage.
The 43 yards.
Yeah Even though Travis registered, didn't get the sack or the tackle for loss, he held up the ball carrier, not for Brett Smith, for Wayne Jackson, for John Gray to get back there and eventually take it down to give a lot of credit to 61 Travis Register, even though he won't get credit for.
This, which is what we were told that Colquitt front line does, they set up the linebackers to make tackles.
They help each other out and they get it right there back to throw on first down in that pass was nowhere near anybody in that one.
The closest man to it was the Colquitt Defender and he wasn't within ten yards of it.
So that was a design play kind of going on the count and the running back.
The man just hadn't run his partner.
There you see the pass.
It's just not very close to anybody here.
So it'll be fourth down ten yards to go.
And once again they get a chance to kick it deep and keep them pinned down in field position.
And that's a big play by the Colquitt defense right there, too, Bob.
Don't discount that.
They were having to go from facing their own 43 yard line and a great play on first down.
This time the snap is good.
The kick is a line drive, the end zone.
So defense came to play.
I think what Floyd wanted to do there was kick the ball high, but probably so surprised that he got a perfect snap.
He kicked the ball away and that just was destined for the end zone.
From the second it left, his foot started to say that Colquitt got a good crowd here tonight, and we know that several people are able to watch this game on the Web webcast.
We appreciate you listening to us, watching us.
If you are on the Web and you want to make a comment of where you're watching this game, we'd appreciate that and if you're serving in the armed forces and watching your hometown team play, we say thank you very much and thanks for what you do serving traced back to throw on first down it out to his tight end first down and more as they gain up to about the 35 yard line.
And again, that was Smith in that tight end that.
Made that catch and Smith gets enough for a first down right there Bob.
You see they targeted him.
He was the primary receiver.
His eyes were locked.
Rick Cole secrets on Smith the entire time.
But Smith made a nice play.
Nice catch.
Gets enough to move the chains a fresh set of downs.
First and ten from the 34 yard line trying the left side is Cooper he's got a hole and then it closes quickly picked up maybe five yards on first down.
But for a minute it looked like that one had bigger yardage in that Destin than it.
Well, Cooper, as you can see, makes a nice move in the backfield.
I find this hole cuts right through it.
It gets a big gain on first down first in the first ten goes to second and five in a heartbeat.
And that's what you want.
At the 39 yard line see Gray's back to throw, looks to his right, then back to his left, throws the ball up to about near the first down.
That was Matt Sailor making the reception there and tackled immediately just short of the first down brings up a third and short and it seems like they've had the ball at it with a chance to make a first down of just inches fifth or sixth time.
And every time they've given it to their quarterback and he's knowing what to do with it.
And you just wonder if eventually Coach Probes is setting up that they're going to fake it and look to go deep.
Everybody's tight won't be this time.
This quarterback keeps the ball again.
This time he goes between the left guard and left tackle falls across the 46 yard line easily picking up the first down.
I don't think he's been even close to stop that any of these third or fourth in shorts.
Well, and we have to give him a lot of credit.
He's patient.
He hasn't rushed into the line immediately.
He's waited for that wing right beside him to kind of first to that whole first ad he sees.
Okay, there's a spot for me right there I go.
He's being very patient with the ball in those third crucial situations.
And on his right side, that's Cooper.
He gets the handoff from Graves and there's not much doing there.
Maybe a yard bringing up, second down and nine.
And it's really here is where Coker gets into trouble when they get behind the chains.
Bob, it's a you know, this is where all of a sudden it seems like Warner Robins is pin their ears back.
It stopped 1/2.
Now up third long.
We've seen it result in a turnover.
We see it resulted in punts.
And it's when they get behind the chains like they are right now, usually it's not good for Coach Brooks's offense.
One man next to Graves, he's on the left secret.
He's on the left side.
This time back to throw.
Gets it off to the man on the back that's Cooper he's got near the first down again and right out of bounds right at the stake.
Get it again?
It'll be the placement of where the ball is.
But I think he's going to be inches short again.
And that's actually a credit there to number two who made a nice play out of the backfield, Trey Cooper, because that was a just a pass out to the flat.
He got across as much as he could, takes up about eight yards in second and nine, bringing up third short.
And unlike in previous plays where they've just been stopped again, it looked like Seegers might get tackled.
The backfield, however, able to get it out to Cooper tells Cooper to make a play.
He does well.
You've been wondering if they're going to do a something different, but I'm going to bet on the quarterback running with the ball again.
And it to me like they called timeout now that timeout they may need some time.
Everybody in the stadium knows what they're going to do here.
Why would they in a world need a timeout?
You can tell me after we take our own timeout what they were thinking.
We'll be back with that third down play after this timeout.
Fletcher has an answer to my question that I asked as I left.
Why in the world they would?
One of those valuable timeouts looked like a substitution issue.
It did.
It looked like for whatever reason, I don't know if maybe the coaching staff thought it was enough for a first down, but a brand new package of players came out on the field and suddenly they realized I guess it was third down, wanted them ran off the field.
Trey Cooper realized that we only had ten men ran out there as Cole Seegers kind of got back that familiar punch formation.
I don't think Rush folks wanted that out there.
And by the way, konnichiwa to the first watch the chat and watching the game and participating the chat in Japan.
Third down and short C grace with the count hands out, keeps it himself, and this time he might have been.
But there's a penalty flag down, actually a fumble.
Let's wait and see what we got here.
Well, I wonder, Robyn's coaches think they got it, but so this call gets a people point like they've got it and they would have a first down if in fact the ball was recovered by Colquitt because it's clearly past the markers.
But what was the whole was it wasn't Jack Tatum rules of the NFL but the the rule that they said you cannot fumble forward on third fourth downs I know that's the NFL rule what is obviously here what it is and high school football.
But but even if he fumbled forward.
I think he was.
Stopped he clearly was across the line.
He had that first.
I didn't think.
You I don't he wouldn't have gotten this far, that's for sure.
But they put about the 38 yard line and it be a first and ten for Colquitt at that point, 43 yard line.
Make it 2 minutes.
15 seconds to go.
And yes, we do say you think everybody is watching, but particularly that person that's watching in Japan tonight, first and ten back the throw throws the ball out in a flat to absolutely nobody.
But there is a flag and there was nobody near where he threw the ball.
Not quite sure what the call was, but it's going to be pass interference.
But yeah, perseverance.
If we could see that again on replay, it looks like maybe it might not be pass interference, but it might be a defensive hold right here because there wasn't anybody in the area.
That's perhaps because he was not allowed to get into the area.
Well, actually, I think this young man right there, I 47, looked like he was keeping the fray.
Collins did was holding.
If we're going to see another replay, it looked like he might have been keeping Smith from coming back to the ball.
Was an out pattern you can see.
But I don't know it's a tough call judgment call.
They will because it's high school and it wasn't 15 yards.
It'll be from the spot I believe it'll be about a ten yard penalty.
Yeah there's going to be defensive holding what the call is not pass interference.
Yeah but then again, a personal foul is going to go against Colquitt.
So they're going to march ten yards up to where the other penalty was, and then they're going to march back 15 yards.
So this is going to be an about first and 15.
So they look at this, that's the first penalty and now assess the second penalty and put the ball with a net loss of five yards and a ten gain.
Doesn't know quite what to do here.
They're starting to move, but I don't think they're supposed to do.
I think it's first and 15, though.
The one guy still wants to go look.
There they go.
First.
Yeah, it's going to be first.
He made first out now any minute now it should be should we could see this or that but they can't really snap the ball until they get the chance set.
Now they are saying first and ten because made the first down.
I'm withdrawing the penalty and the penalty is called after the play.
So it's first and ten from the back near midfield at the 40 yard line.
Colquitt is one receiver to the left, looks to throw to that man out of the backfield it's Cooper he breaks one tackle, misses another tackle has the first down, misses another tackle and gets all the way down to the 31 yard line I started cutting in this tackle.
It's kind of like that run in the last play of the game last week, there was a great run by Cooper.
Yeah, Cooper was nearly nabbed.
Let's take out this replay right here.
You can see is almost wrapped up that the line of scrimmage, that's one.
That's two.
Here's number three.
Before finally the fifth man brings him down for tackles broken Bob a great play by Trey Cooper considering he was nearly stopped for about a one yard game.
Clock under 2 minutes to play in the third quarter.
And here's a movement on the right hand side.
They'll bring that one back five yards and set up first and 15.
Yeah.
Take your pick on the right side.
The right side, far side of the line.
And either way, those guys can't do that quietly because Mr. Mobley's, too is £300.
Mr. Dillon is £280.
I hate to be saying their names after a penalty.
This is a good offensive line, £280, two of them.
But that's a lot of guys at 300.
The little baby in the lane is little Alex Murphy.
He's only 233.
I don't think he appreciate you calling him little baby Alex.
Both of you use it now.
I was being quite sarcastic there, but he is the little one of those big guys.
And Nick first they've got their center and they've been wanting to have him back all year and he's got a real good one, number 68 and then hand up goes to Cooper.
Cooper on the right side.
This time they're ready for him and there's no game.
They're eight quarterback in there, you should say new quarterback.
We've got the rotation going.
You get Daniel Mobley, the 510 sophomore.
He came in with the play and now here comes Seager.
He's back after talking with Coach.
Brooks and everything.
I can think of this because he is limping noticeably.
Maybe they're just let him rest a little bit, maybe see a player, too, and then come back because the offense changes.
When the young man's in, he gives away £50 and four inches.
They can't run that run the same way they can when they've got sea graves.
In the game.
One man flanking see graves on the right to receiver's top of the screens, playing catch second and line from the 38 yard line of Warner Robins, leading 10 to 6 in the last minute of the third quarter back to throw a seekers hands and then open down the field passes.
Flop perfect pass this time Fletcher right in his in his.
Belt buckle at ten yard line and it just bounced right off his hands.
Yeah.
We'll take a look at the junior Bobby Hill.
It actually looked like he sort of tipped it to a self.
Let's see what he does right here.
It looks like he was trying to basket catch it and he just didn't pull it.
It's like it hit off his forearms, believe it or not, it like he was trying to instead of grab it with his hands, he was trying to just haul it in basket wise and and you'll talk to any receiver till you catch it with the hands, not the arms out.
In 15, he was looking to his right has a man open and the ball is dropped again.
This one has dropped bass.
Well, that was a tougher seat.
Ray's got laid out right there as the 36th Moses Allen came at the back three.
We can see that his.
Late blitz and.
And the throw was just slightly under threat.
Smith did come back to the ball you kind of say he should catch that ball, but that one was kind of going away from.
Like you can touch and you.
Get now it's fourth and 15 and they're going for the ball because they don't.
You're in the few yards and it kicks in.
They're going the fourth and one big play in this game with 30 seconds to go in the third quarter.
Big play for both teams.
Graves has the snap and now he kicks it very left footed kick at the ten and it's going to be falling apart at the five yard line.
So that was a great call by the quarterback.
I mean by the coach, right?
Rush Preston I guess that's why you win championships fourth and 15.
No one was looking for that quick kick.
He even kind of took a step towards the line.
I was surprised he was going to run and then all of a sudden he just executed a perfect kick.
He did.
And he might actually go over to the man who covered that kick down there and not say thank you, but say you couldn't have let that roll an extra yard or two to help my punting average a little bit.
Well, they definitely had it covered and they could have possibly done it because they were in complete control of the field position there.
But you know what?
I think they're going to be happy to have the ball outside the five yard line, 22 seconds to go.
This time they're operating from their normal offense.
Last time they were in a hole, they went to the T formation to hand the ball to the second man through.
And that's Dallas that's been hurt all year and came back now and he gained two yards.
Yeah, that was Sutton right there on the carry and Sutton the front, the fullback getting more and more carries as the year goes along as he makes his way back from from a broken neck.
And that will be the last play of the third quarter.
Only three points scored.
They were outscored by the home team at the end of 36 minutes of high school football.
Warner Robins, ten.
All kid, probably.
We'll be back with the fourth quarter after this.
We're underway in the fourth quarter and they try to run the ball up the middle and that thing was squashed for no gain.
They'll bring up third down and nine from the four yard line.
He was pushed back in the end zone, but they'll give him forward progress back to the original line of scrimmage I think that was Sutton with the ball.
Again getting absolutely nothing yeah I just a wall of Packers pun intended they packed it in there and just drove them back immediately.
That defensive line led by Register and Smith, they just you said they liked it.
They like to clear the way for the linebackers.
They weren't clearing anyway right there for the linebackers they were participating themselves.
And now another precious time out.
We've got a four point game and Warner Robins can't afford to make mistakes.
So I'm not being critical, but I am just suggesting that these timeouts are precious and it's a shame to have to burn one this deep in the territory.
But since taken a timeout, we'll take one with him and we'll be back with the final 11 minutes and 21 seconds.
There's the Colquitt Band keeping everybody excited.
They Colquitt players are ready to play defense.
Warner Robins jogging back onto the field now here they'll have a third down and nine facing from their own five yard line.
Ohio County has lost two of its last four or three of his last four games.
Here at McConnell Talbot Stadium, Props has lost two straight, you know he'd like to break that streak tonight now but he's down four points big third down play right here.
For both play third down and nine from their own five yard line.
One man.
Flanking.
Quarterback Here comes a big rush They hit the man in the backfield that Sutton again and he's brought down at the one yard by one.
And that was an all out sellout blitz by the Colquitt Packer defense.
And they called the right play.
And as if they knew what was coming, they were right on that.
Running back and stopped him for a big loss brings up less than the ten you heard or 15 yards you want for a kick and Colquitt should get great field position and.
Here you go you've you've called him so far the player the game number 88 Caleb Floyd now Kyle Floyd is the one that's kicked the extra point.
The field goal for Caleb Floyd.
I'm sure they're related.
Since they're twin brothers.
But he's going to be in charge of putting it away and nearly stepped out of the back.
And he did a safety.
Good call there.
FLETCHER He looked like he took a step back to make the punt, and indeed he did.
And now we're going to have the unusual score makes up for that missed extra point it goes makes the score 10 to 8.
So instead of being down less, they're more in the field goal because of this extra point, they are now where a field goal would win the game for Colquitt.
Nobody ever wants to give up points.
Nobody ever wants to give up points in a close game.
But the way that kick went off his foot, Colquitt would had the ball at about the 25 or 30 yard line with great field position.
So now they'll get to do the free kick, get the ball and at least probably get some manageable field position out of this.
But two points makes it very tense here.
We're going to see a replay of the man stepping out the line.
And I wish we had voice so we can hear your excellent call to pick.
Up on it.
Yeah, there's just nowhere to go when your heels are on the back line and he did step back.
You'll get a good shot of it right here.
See, as heels are right on the back and his first move was to step back.
Well, you can't see it right there, but his first move was to step back.
He did.
And the referee, the official was right on top of it.
And the young man did catch the ball more closer to the 30 yard line.
But still, that would have been great field position.
So now they had the choice of kicking off or punting it.
Last week we had that unusual play where the man punted the ball and they're so used to punting, taking it away from it that it almost ended up being a 50 yard onside kick.
But the bout just barely rolled out of bounds.
They're going with a more traditional style.
I think it's kicking the ball off from the 20 yard line.
Used to be everybody punted the ball.
Now almost everybody kicks off.
It depends on, you know, your kicker.
Do you like your kicker better?
You like your punter better.
In this case, they think that number 83 weight which Floyd Kyle Floyd can get move the ball better than that Kayla Floyd can maybe keep it up high it's it's.
The day for Colquitt are at their own 20 yard line so they should get good field position here Floyd reaches of the ball and kicks it away and it's a long and overand kick at the 25 yard line it's field at the 3030 540 big run at the 45 cuts it at the 50 crossed midfield into the 45 yard line.
So not only did they get the two points but they got great field position they being the Colquitt Packers.
Awkward county is now in business they've opened up shop and they will go to work at the about the 45 yard line 44.
This is the number two team in the state.
They do not panic.
They were down, I believe it was ten points with less than a minute to play.
They scored a couple of times.
It gets Madison County out of Florida to get a big win in week two.
They are not afraid when they are down.
They were down.
They still down now, but they are in business right now.
It was Trey.
Parker with the 30 yard run back and he has been the man for them tonight.
He and their quarterback, Graves was back in the game.
He hands the ball to Cooper.
Cooper left side, 40, 35, very close to the first down.
And it'll be if it's not a first down, it's going to be second and inches and it seems like they've gotten to that position third and fourth, down an inch and several times.
Here is the play over again.
Fletcher Yeah, you're going to see right here at Nice Reed handoff to the running back a nice lane opens up And Bob you just take a look at how that lane opened up It was just pure size going against a smaller side.
Last time he was second inches, they went for a big they quarterback keeps it this time he did not get the first down brought down for a very short loss that they still second or third down in very short but here's the replay of this coming up.
I again but but last time when they had second and short they threw the long time.
I was a little surprised that rush it didn't go for a little bit more than that on second down but kind of shows you how tight game is third down in inches now and they almost jumped offsides but nobody move so no harm, no foul.
Now they said again, third down and inches from the 36 yard line.
See graves with a long count looking where he wanted to handle the ball to Cooper.
This time, Cooper has the first down and a lot more at the 3025 than you are an excuse me brought down there was a man blocking from that ran to the 25.
They tackled him at the 30 yard line so that you said they were just are they going to do something a little different in for the first time they faked a run by the quarterback how missed that they fake the run by Tebow but they fake the run by straight and he handed the ball to Cooper and Cooper got the big first down.
Yeah Coach said you know what, it's time that we stop going to the well with the quarterback maybe the quarterback with a little bit of a of a gimpy leg you know kind of said good sendoff to Cooper he's he's running pretty well right now but sure enough they handoff he goes across the line, gets the first down and more.
Clock getting near 9 minutes to play in the game.
Hands it off again.
No, the Cooper a cooper tries the left side and there's nothing there this time.
And Fletcher, we're setting a problem up in the press box.
It's it's comfortable up here.
I was down on the field for halftime.
It's chilly out there.
I only bring that up because sometimes the ball doesn't quite go as well on a chillier night than on a warm night.
But Luna is a very good kicker.
And now we're talking about where a field goal would the Packers the lead so they they just need to get the ball up maybe another five yards in there and clear field goal range.
And you have to think that despite the missed extra point earlier tonight, they still have a lot of confidence in Oscar Luna.
And his kick cleared by a long distance.
It just was wide.
All right.
Second down and long, second and 13 back to throw a cigaret and there's a penalty and stop the play here.
Now they are for sure not only out of field goal range, but they're in second in line.
So a very costly penalty here.
Second and 30 goes the second and, 80.
8 minutes and 31 seconds to go.
And we've got a two point ballgame.
Field position is critical.
The clock will become more critical, which can make a field goal.
Lots of things could decide this game.
And when we made a switch to this game to come down here and see our good friends in central and southern Georgia, A.J.
Rosenberger, the executive producer of the grandpapa of the Georgia Public Broadcasting and Score, said This is going to be a good game.
We had some doubt, but we're seeing a great so far.
And now I think they had a go and they took the C graves out here.
They brought in or sophomore quarterback again, third or second down and 18 from the 38 yard line clear situation.
So they bring in the sophomore quarterback he has time looks to his right man wide open catches the ball at the 25/21 down in Moore and out of bounds near the 11 yard line and that was Akeem Taylor.
And long after the play is over, a penalty flag comes down.
And I'm guessing that's going to be face masking against Warner Robins.
But all the Warner Robins guys are pointing it.
It should go the other way.
Yeah.
Keyshawn Taylor makes a nice catch, secures the ball before he runs up.
It gets enough for a first down.
It's going to depend on the yellow laundry, which side it goes against as to what happens they're discussing right now.
But it was a nice throw.
You know, he definitely reared back and fired Daniel Mobley, but it it had enough on it to get out to the far side.
Taylor got enough for the first down, so we'll just have to see what the penalties are going to be.
Had not seen any indication of you still waiting.
That type of penalty almost always goes against the defense at that point.
But they are calling a penalty against Colquitt.
Delay of game.
No, he did he flipped the ball or did.
That signal the last time, too?
That didn't make any sense.
It's a 15 yard penalty.
So now the good news is for Colquitt, that's a first down.
The bad news is going to be back at the 27 yard line and certainly on the border of field goal range back at the 26 yard line.
But they will have a fresh set of downs.
Clock is stopped at 7 minutes and 59 seconds to go.
Trying to hear who has led most of the way is leading still 10 to 8, but that lead very much in jeopardy see graves is back in and I want to make a comment about the sophomore quarterback.
When we get a moment here.
They never explain the penalty even on the grass.
Drops the ball a sound and instead it looks like Warner Robins might have gotten the football.
Let's got it.
We'll see.
Graves is on the ground trying to reel it in.
If somehow Warner Robins came up with it, it's because it scored it out.
But I think see Graves, I mean, he was trying to corral it.
They did.
They ripped someone ripped it away from Folsom.
Great.
It looked like he met a guy who was obviously a replay of this.
Again, in just a second, it looked like he was loose on the ground and he reached to scoop it back.
But the coaches next door, as you can.
Hear, thought all along, they had it in.
And then people here's the play.
He just right there in there, he reaches back for it.
Gotcha.
It just Vesey.
Yeah he went to reach for it to scoop it back in and just whiffed on it.
So Warner Robins takes over 739 to play.
They've got a two point lead.
Bob, that is so big because I agree with it.
They were in Oscar Lane, a field goal range, and.
Now it's very important for college football to play the clock as well as the field position.
Now both are important for a two point game.
The ball at the 26 yard line high snap pitches their way right side you think about maybe for the 33 yard line he picks up five yards and it's interesting because he ran so ferocious in this so far back it looked like he ran even more than that.
He ran about 20 yards to make, 5 minutes to play.
Still interested to kind of here, by the way nice play nice move to allude man in the backfield gets a nice block before he eventually gets across the 30 yard line that that penalty was never explained I never heard even the P.A.
announcer say what the penalty was it's when he crossed the arms like that.
It looked like it was a delaying game.
At first I thought it was motion.
It could have been delay.
But he's done that call twice and not quite sure what it meant but very unusual to be called on the offense after a big play like that second down and three and around it comes to three.
Let's say he's got the first down and more.
He's at the 40 smack down at the 42 yard line and out of bounds.
But that's the four he picked up.
That all important there is now down.
Clock stops for 6 minutes and 46 seconds.
They will move the chains.
I don't think they'll light it because I think he was knocked out of bounds.
Well, once the ball's set, the clock will start to move.
But he was out of bounds.
10 to 8 as the score for the ball at the 42 yard line first and ten, 6 minutes, 46 seconds to play out comes Warner Robins.
They've led all the way, which would be one of the biggest upsets of the year.
Odom, the quarterback, a man on his left, hip, high snap, he brings it down, keeps the ball.
He managed to get the snap up and the ball is up to almost for the first time.
That's a new man in the game.
You're saved.
And white saving a touchdown, by the way is D'Andre Copeland.
Well what happened there the snap it we'll see the replay the ball was snapped high.
The quarterback tipped it up in the air to himself and somehow managed to get the handoff up.
I don't know if we can see it again.
D.T.
Right was the one who eventually was in the right place.
Right time to help the quarterback out.
Picks up nine big yards and D'Andre Wright was the only thing or D'Andre Copeland excuse me is the only thing saving that from being a huge touchdown was about 6 minutes to play.
The play picks up nine yards.
It's second down in one.
They hand the ball in.
This play goes nowhere, brought by De'anthony Mac trying to try the left side and he loses two, maybe three yards on that one.
Jack Gray, the middle like dagger makes the tackle.
Yeah, gray at 40 tackles a week ago.
Comes up big right there.
And I'll tell you, the difference between second and inches at third and four is huge.
Colquitt Now the defense has little bit of a heartbeat and how they want to make that heartbeat get even louder.
Flack is under 6 minutes of will be less than five and a half to play by the time they snap the ball in what is a most critical play in this game.
Third down and four.
Usually we call that manageable.
Let's see what happens to receivers flanking the quarterback handoff and the foul in he's brought down at midfield.
He will not get the first down.
He was stopped short of the 50 yard line give a lot of credit to the first man through four Colquitt County for the Raiders, Anthony Brumbaugh.
He had a couple of friends back there joining him in the backfield, including Johnny Ward, but a big play, his stuff before he can even get to the midfield stripe they'll take over.
This is going back to your player the game who cost the team two points a minute ago but if he can get a good point right here in pinole deep that'll be huge for the demons.
Caleb Floyd standing in his own 35 yard line, yet another low snap, big rush.
But he somehow got the kick away.
And this ball is going to bounce at the 20 take over Warner Robins bounce to the 15, go dead there at the 15 yard line.
So once again, another bad snap.
This time he didn't kick it soccer style.
He just quickly kicked the ball away and got good field position for robins.
85 yards.
That's how far the Packers have to go.
We'll see what they do after this timeout.
The sophomore quarterback Mobley is in the game for Colquitt.
He hands the ball off for Knight, keeps it himself and tries the right hand side and maybe picks up where he did hand it off and picks up two or three yards.
I just don't think that Daniel Mobley, who's played a great game so far, is the running threat.
So they're going to probably hand off more than they would run with the quarterback, but I just don't think see Graves as himself right now.
He he fumbled on that one play but he's been kind of gimpy right ankle for most of the second half.
Yeah they're keeping Mobley in there you can see with the.
Spread formation district wide receivers out nobody behind Mobley in the backfield Let's see if Warner Robins comes with a big rush they didn't get away from that.
There should be somebody up and he's running for his life and he has to throw the ball out of bounds.
So that was an exciting, great anticipation on the defense.
But the quarterback got away from it.
He did.
He he made a nice move to his right, stepped around the rush was trying to find a keyshawn Taylor but the ball was just didn't get there to him that's the thing is he's he's throwing to the far side of the field a lot to the side of the floats away from him and some of the times the ball's just not getting it.
And that's just one thing that if Mobley's going to do that, he's got to find a.
Closer.
Receive a.
Third down and seven back to throw is Mobley another rush?
They pushed him out of the pocket and they got him at the ten yard line.
You've got two timeouts right now for Coach Brooks.
You have to punt this ball away, but you need your defense to make a play with 330 to play here in the contest.
You're two points.
You got to get the ball back on defense.
And right now, Warner Robins probably needs two timeouts to salt away what would be one of the biggest wins they've had since they went to the Georgia Dome in 2006.
It's been a long Drysdale for Coach Way and he's really very close right now.
Here comes the kick from the goal line.
I spy it kick.
That did not go very far.
It bounces at the 30 and bounces backwards.
Now there's two other things.
3 minutes, 11 seconds.
They're hoping against everything that they can just run out the clock.
A field goal would be huge is that would make it a touchdown game.
So with this field position right now, everything is going.
Warner Robins with 3 minutes and 11 seconds to go and Warner Robins leading 10 to 8.
The ball is actually at the 28 yard line first and ten from there.
And believe me, right now, what they want is just 2/1 downs, but they need to move the ball forward.
And interesting how far closer they have to get before they kick it.
I think that I think they're maybe five, six yards tops away from field goal range.
They hand the ball to the second man through.
He's at the 20 and tries to break a tackle there.
That's a De'anthony Mac just in kind of the quiet man tonight but they gain at first down it it's almost difficult for coach to call one of those timeouts right now because they're giving so much yardage on first down, call it eight yard gain, second down and two from just outside the 20.
The line to make is just about the 18.
So it's second down.
And two, you're going to see him burn a lot of clock here as the clock goes under.
2 minutes and 40 seconds.
Coach weighs one, a state title.
He's been to the final four he's he.
But then again like you said the pre-game he's fallen on hard times recently two and eight last year, six and four a year before.
This would be the biggest win, I think, in.
Year five with the ball on the right hand side, he's going to be very close to the first down, still turning its legs.
I think he's got the first down.
You're talking about some people have this call for Kentucky.
I have to make number two of the score Atlanta poll.
Other places have anywhere from 3 to 4.
They're ranked nationally, I think in the top 100 in the entire nation.
The clock is still moving and, I think made a first down here.
So now they finally stop it.
But 10 seconds goes off the clock there and now they they signal the time out.
I think the referee on the field needed to stop that clock either for a measurement or to give the first down.
And they just let 10 seconds burn off the clock.
So very important now they start the clock.
And that clock is definitely the friend of Warner Robins as we head under 2 minutes.
Yeah, they've got a fresh set of downs and I think you have to make about using your first time that habit to stop them right here in Amsterdam.
No question.
At the 18 yard line in that big play at first down set up the last series let's see what happens here.
They give the ball to Sutton over the 15 down to the 13 near the ten yard line goes Sutton in second effort.
He's down to the ten.
And still going forward, they're going to give a forward progress inside the ten yard line.
Coach is calling for a timeout.
Oh, no official is looking at it.
And again, the clock is still moving.
And again, this happened at the end of the first quarter where 10 seconds went off the clock needlessly.
And now we've had two straight incidences of that.
A penalty flag is just blown as well.
Rush probes is all the way lost.
The numbers.
No official is turning around to look at them.
Well, you know, in a play like this, normally the coach goes right up to the official.
Well, there was no official around.
I'm saying before it says, I want to call a timeout after this play.
And the referees, you're right, did have their back to him and and he had to go all the way on the field to to get that timeout called in another 10 seconds went off the clock and.
Penalty I think it's going to go against Colquitt County as well that's a first down that's that could.
The ref to the kid the chain gang has dropped their flags the ball is going to be at the five yard line the sticks are down so it's first and goal from the five.
When we come back with a minute, 27 seconds, and I'm glad there isn't going to be a real controversy here because there's been some question about clock management, not management clock operation at the end of the first half and now at the end of this this game where precious time has gone off.
But the way it's working now, with only one time out, they can they can go into their victory defense right now.
They can snap the ball three times and run out the clock.
They do not have to move the ball forward here.
To.
Cause all conflict can.
They're actually short two timeouts left on the scoreboard.
So if that's the case, I'm not right about that.
They will have to try and advance the ball here.
And I'm sure they'd love to score a touchdown right now, but at the same time, you don't want anything to happen right now.
They've got a jumbo package in there.
The man who scored the first touchdown of the day, Michael Lee, he's a standout defensive player, defensive end linebacker, hybrid, getting looks at Western Carolina Wofford Georgia Southern got us back in.
That T formation there let's see what they here on first down.
They'll give the ball to that, aforementioned Lee.
And he gains maybe two or three yards before he's pushed back.
And Cockpit will call their time out here stopping the clock with 118 and again the clock is still going.
Yeah.
What in the world is going on?
Well, they've called a timeout.
One official was calling for it a minute.
17.
And you have every right here.
He has every right rush.
Proves to be upset about that because the one official was calling for it and it just the scoreboard did not call it.
Now we'll keep it right here with a minute, 12 to go.
I do have to say something to Fletcher, the clock operator is not wearing an officials uniform.
Normally the clock operator is part of the officials team and the gentleman down there is not wearing that official's uniform tonight.
I'm wondering if somebody didn't show up and they had to just put somebody in, but they let nine, 10 seconds go off the clock there.
Again, I don't think it's going to make a difference because the ball's on the two yard line.
Only one timeout left.
And again, we'll see.
The last time this happened, they didn't start the clock.
They froze the clock so left to see what happens here.
One minute, 12 seconds to go.
Warner Robins, close to their biggest victory in a long, long time as only 72 seconds to take off the clock.
This is this would be the biggest upset, I think we've been a part of the last few years.
And, Bob, this would be the biggest upset, I think, of the year so far.
We've seen a few upsets around the state, but this would be the biggest upset, right?
We're to have to listen to AJ say he predicted this game because he wanted us to be down here.
And what a game we've seen.
Low scoring, but exciting all the way.
One minute now they put one minute, 20 seconds back on the clock.
So that seems about right to me.
10 to 8 is the score low scoring game that it's been end to end action most of the night.
One timeout left for Colquitt.
That demon is going to be shoot some fireworks out of his pitchfork here.
A little bit of everything.
We'll have a replay of that for sure.
I'm there.
There's been one score in the second half.
He was a safety hands off to Sutton.
Sutton on the left side gets down very close to the goal line before he's pushed back at the one yard line.
Colquitt will call their last time out here.
I guess they're gonna let the clock run and call it after this next play.
Third down and a yard.
The ball at the one yard, third and goal the ball at the one yard line clock ticks under one minute.
Warner Robins leading 10 to 8.
My guess is they're going to let the clock down and call a timeout here.
FLETCHER They don't look at any hurry to even break the huddle.
So I think what they're going to do here is just take the full 12.
And now he joins the huddle.
Let's see what they do.
40 seconds to go and a moving clock out of the huddle.
They come three men behind the quarterback, 35 seconds away from what Fletcher's calling the biggest upset of the season.
Rolls out hands to Sutton, tries it.
He's in the left side for the touchdown.
What a great story, Sutton coming back.
11 touchdowns, two years ago, didn't play last year.
Now back as a senior from a broken neck and Bryant gets into the.
Hands up three yards out.
Look at young Lee.
Come off the field as excited as anybody.
The man who plays defense most of the time and probably through one of the key blocks that sprung the score, is now 6 to 8.
So this would make it a two touchdown game if they were to score here.
And ever the coach Coach Way calls time out.
He wants to talk this over and make sure that nothing's wrong because this totally aces it if they make this extra.
Point or he wants to let the crowd soak it up a little bit.
And look at that.
This is just a huge win.
This is, you can't even put into words what this is for this program.
They were had a week to prepare for this.
But after a heartbreaking loss that each county knowing that a couple of weeks later they would get this victory over.
Number two, cope with county that is intense and intense intense what a coach job by coach.
Listen to what you just said.
A heartbreaking loss to each one of the best programs in the state at any level.
Three or four doesn't matter.
They're one of the true powers that almost everybody in town says they won that game except for very questionable crowd.
And they're going to beat Colquitt County.
Those are two of the most established football programs in this entire state.
Warner Robins is back.
Yeah.
Peach County played for a title last year.
I had them number one going into the in the championship game or going into the playoffs, I should say, last year.
So this is just a huge victory for Warner Robinson.
And you know that there's going to be some partying going on tonight all around Hillsborough County.
The extra point to put it into a two score game is away and now.
There was a flag down, so we'll have to wait yet another second.
I'm excited to see the the demon shooters fireworks.
The for the Colquitt crowd's got a long quiet ride home that I don't think they expected and it again we want to thank everybody down in Moultrie in Valdosta that made this possible tonight and it's some of the best football in the state is played in that region and some of the best fans in the state are down there every year.
When we do a crowd glitter of alabaster around this game, we just have huge audiences and we thank everybody who watched tonight.
And we appreciate the football you play down there.
This is a surprising game, however, and the home team is about to walk away with the biggest of the year 41 Fletcher practice.
Did you hit the goalposts?
Did that go through and look at those things shaking?
So now there's another seven.
He's running the ball back after one off the goalposts and he's finally tackled at the.
15 yard line.
Now.
At the end, by the way, the demon is shooting on fireworks and not sure that they really want this going on the game.
But I guess they're going to say if you ran that back down, it was going to be worth two points.
I know that's the guy.
That hit the goal post.
The thing was shaky.
Yeah, it's still shaky.
Shaky joints, right.
And then they could run the ball back and that would have been two points.
Where I've seen it happen in college before.
I've seen to want to have the University of Georgia Bulldogs.
I know in the NFL that play can't happen.
I guess in high school it's legal.
They were certainly going to try it.
He was tackled though, so.
There's for.
No good, but there's still a chance.
There's a 28 seconds to go in the game.
A touchdown and a two point conversion ties the game at that.
That's right.
Confidence is what we're going to point here and see exactly what happened.
The coach way, he's still until this is over quite honestly I don't blame him.
Let's see the replay.
Here it comes.
You're going to drink it right here.
You see throwing, you know, those lands still in fair play.
Number 12, picks it up tries to run it back.
He does a good job of.
Is eventually going to be taken down running with the ball was Charmaine.
Washington.
Now I have to tell you this is the second week in a row you can run a kick back off a goal.
Post I wasn't aware of off the goal post.
I know that if it's blocked could pick it up.
But we'll be calling our friend Alan Smith for a ruling.
And now when he heads the officials in the state of Georgia.
All right.
It took me about 10 minutes to understand what happened last week on the free kick.
But more importantly, right now, we've got an eight point game, a touchdown and a two point conversion would still tie it.
Trey Cooper has come close to breaking them.
The key right now really is to kick the ball in the end zone and not have a run back there because that that just makes it so much harder to start from the 20.
So let's.
See which quarterback comes.
Out.
See if that one of these Floyd brothers could get the ball in the end zone.
The kicking game has been critical all night.
The kick is on the way and it is a short end over enter.
It's going to be fielded by the but bounces off the hands of Smith.
He picks the ball up and runs out of bounds at around the 30 yard line.
About 5 seconds went off the clock.
They actually ruled him out of bounds at the 26 looking to see if there was a flag.
Actually, I think the Warner Robins guys that next to us here, they've been refereeing all night actually, thought one of their own guys call the penalty there, but they did not call anything foul.
The ball is at the 26 yard line, 27 yard line, 23 seconds to go.
One time after.
Contact and we'll see which quarterback is in there.
I think it's got to be great at this point.
Even if he's got the they get the leg and he is the one coming out there.
Number 13, because he's got be and.
He doesn't take it.
All right.
Look at the way he is walking around right there, Matt.
Not at all.
Very gingerly.
23 seconds to go.
The ball at the 27 yard line.
They need to get the ball across midfield on this one and then try to move it down a little further, puts the ball out in the flat, the ball's incomplete, throws the ball over the head of as a receiver.
The man out of the backfield 16 say with your but again 16 seconds one timeout they can throw the ball to the middle of the field they need to get the ball across midfield to where they can at least call something again.
Of course, in college, in high school, the penalty for pass interference is not the length of the play.
It's only 15 yards.
So they can't, but they need to pick up 20 yards about two or three times.
I'm reminded that one Falcons game where they came back against my Chicago Bears and won with 11 seconds, and that's the kind of play they need right now.
About 15 or 20 quarterback, new quarterback is in there.
There's the potential to 40 and that first down and let me throw it down there and the clock will stop with 7 seconds to go my guess is they're going to do well there.
They're telling him to go out there and spike the ball.
Right instead of running a play here.
So they'll be lined up and as soon as the referee signals goal, they'll clock it.
That'll be 5 seconds.
Either way, they're only going to have time for one more play.
So it doesn't really matter one way or the other what they call a time out here.
But they stop it in the clock goes from 7 to 6, maybe two plays at that distance.
But quite honestly, to get down the field, it's going to burn up.
Probably this final 6 seconds.
So we're probably seeing the last play of the game, maybe time for two.
I would agree with that.
And for that reason, they talked it over.
Whatever play they need to do with coal, see graves and see graves, the one that goes out there with the play.
He's going to have three receivers to the far side, including Smith.
He's going to have to the near side, only slightly flexed out.
That's Bobby Hill he can on the far side.
That's where.
Taylor is.
They might look right and then end up throwing it left.
Let's see if they do.
They roll to the right and he's hit as he throws the ball picked up by the man from Colquitt.
He's going to.
Be tackled at the well.
He's still on his feet at the 45.
And trying to level at somebody it's over.
Warner Robins manning the field here.
Their fans coming out in the field.
The crowd is going crazy and rightfully so.
As we've seen the upset of the first four weeks of the season as the Home Standing Demons, Warner Robins beat the Packers of Colquitt County.
That's right.
16 to 8 is the final think.
I cannot believe that Warner Robins played as well as they did the entire game.
They kept Colquitt County scoreless the entire second half.
They gave him two points on a safety, but they kept him out of the end zone the entire first quarter, the entire third and fourth quarter only at Daniel Moseley to bat sailor touchdown pass with a mixed extra point it was the only points that the offense the mighty offensive rush this Colquitt County Packers could produce and they pulled off it eight teams are 6 to 8 victory.
But this is without question the biggest upset of the first five weeks for four weeks of the season.
We are going to go to break.
But as you look at the pictures, that's what Friday nights are all about in Georgia and around the country.
The home team with a major upset, 6 to 8 over that top ranked Colquitt Packers.
We'll be back to tell you how it got there after this timeout.
There you see the final score Warner Robins, 16, Colquitt County eight.
And here to tell you how it got that way and one of the most exciting games we've done in a long is Fletcher Factor.
We're not quite ready for the highlights yet.
Fletcher So we'll just visit for a moment here.
What a victory.
This this program at Warner Robins.
We mentioned it several times the coaches won a state championship.
He's been to the Georgia Dome a the final four position, but the team has been down on its luck.
There's just no getting around that.
And this was a huge, huge win.
Fair to say the robins.
Yeah, fair to say.
This has been the biggest victory of the last probably, you know, four or five years and.
Sure enough.
Warner Robins gets a big time win tonight over the number two team, the Copper County Packers.
Colquitt loses the first game of the year they've flirted with with the loss early on it was finally get that loss today as Warner Robins came out motivated and the demons get it here at the victory.
And you could see right now that all the players are being joined by a lot of fans on the field as well.
Colquitt got out of here rather quickly and it's hard to believe 2000 people could be gone from that sideline as quickly as well.
We're still to get our highlight package together, but why don't we just wrap up a little bit of what happened?
There wasn't a whole lot of scoring in the second half, but good, solid defense.
And even though there wasn't scoring, it was wasn't the ball was moving up and down the field all night and lots of exciting plays and lots of good running and just we think we saw one of the best players in the state and count and see Groves, but yet the backup came in and did a pretty good job as well.
And so yeah, quickly I'll run through the scoring.
You know, it wasn't until 25 seconds to go in the in the first quarter left in the first quarter.
Michael Lee at a normally a defensive lineman, a linebacker comes in and kind of a jumbo package he gets a one yard touchdown run to give Warner up to seven nothing lead after the first quarter Colquitt County would not score until 24 left in the second quarter on a Daniel Mobley to Matt Saylor ten yard touchdown and very important Oscar with his first missed extra point of the year 7 to 6 Warner robins with less than 30 seconds to go in the opening half was able to to get down to try a 52 yard field goal that was no good.
However a roughing the kicker gave them another shot it from 37 yards out.
Kyle Floyd connected 10 to 6 at halftime after a scoreless third, Cole put county minutes to stop finish stop.
Warner Robins on their own one yard line and a fourth down a punt happen.
Oh, except for the fact that Floyd Caleb Floyd stepped out of the back of the end zone, making it 10 to 6 at that point.
Now, Polk County get a chance to go down there and score a couple of penalties.
One curious penalty pushed them out of field goal range.
They had to put it away.
Eventually, Bryant Sutton connects from three yards or rushes it in for three yards out, 28 seconds remaining.
They missed the extra point, but that eight point cushion would be enough as Cole Graves could not get a final throw off in the game's final play.
And it was a big victory for the demons of war in Iraq.
I think we've got some highlights going to turn that back to you.
Are we ready for the highlights?
And if we are, Fletcher will take it away.
All right.
Let's do the highlights.
You see right here.
This is a Colquitt in the first half.
This was the fumble.
That really is where Warner Robins defense came to play.
They recover, it.
Looked like is going to drive down for the.
Score.
And you see right here, the ball tipped up on his defense would make some plays.
Again, they only gave up 16 points tonight.
That the defense, however, would not be enough as their off is just could not get it going.
You see a nice pass and catch right there.
That was Taylor who was able to get close to a first down.
Here's Taylor again leading ultimately to that's the lead touchdown getting it from one yard out Mike Lee getting a lot of getting a lot of love from the Southern Conference, perhaps Wofford is where he will end up.
Here's a goal.
Seager is throwing it up.
That pass would be intercepted, picked off inside the own five yard line.
However, Cole County soon get the ball back leading to this.
This certainly helped because it would give them first to go from inside the ten yard line leading to Daniel Mobley to Matt, which you'll see right here.
Saylor is in the corner of the endzone.
Mobley up there he is.
He's going to find it right there.
Mobley corrals it down.
A missed extra point, though, would make it seven six believe will see this a second half action now Cole see Graves trying to find his intended target he does right there it's a nice that's nice catch on the far side to sailors again now here's Mobley looking and he just finds a bit this is a big first down this is a huge play because after this play, a mysterious penalty was called we think it might have been not sure delay of game or what was going on there, but that would back them up eventually.
Cole Seager A fumble.
This was a huge turning point of the game.
This would ultimately lead to a Bryan Sutton touchdown.
A few plays later.
You see a nice reverse here.
This is ROUNTREE getting a big time first down as they're trying to milk the milk the clock they ultimately do that was a big play right there is to believe that was knight makes a nice move on the far side picking big time yardage keeping that clock churning keeping it churning.
And eventually you would have Sutton right here getting his first touchdown since two years ago after breaking his neck and the off season following his sophomore season missed his entire junior year as a senior.
He gets his first touchdown of the year as he drops to a knee right there.
A great play by Bryan Sutton and that would be your final March 16 to 8.
Colquitt County goes down.
The number two team in the state, five eight falls to Warner Robins.
A big home victory brush strokes, by the way.
Now one in three all time in the stadium.
You know, he doesn't want to come back here.
He type said.
Well, we'll be back to wrap things up and talk about next week.
But I think those highlights showed that even though it was a low scoring game, there was a lot of and then action on the field.
A great job once again and wrapping it up here.
We'll be back to talk about next week after this timeout.
It's final score from Warner Robins, the home team with a big upset 16 date.
Next week, we would have a real we're going to go watch the perennial power of the Buford Wolves.
I've never been to Buford Stadium.
I've looking forward to that.
And the last team to beat them in a regular season game at home field, the love it lions will be.
There should be a good one, Fletcher.
I'm looking forward to it.
We'll get to see.
Number one due for the four time defending state champs.
In my opinion, the best Buford team Jets Simpson's ever coached.
Maybe the best one in the last ten years.
So good to see you.
If you're in the Georgia area, the Georgia Public Broadcasting will not only be concluding the Southwest DeKalb Mary's game, but they'll be doing the best scoreboard in the state.

We're looking forward to that and the great story that has gone out of it, Ringgold, and we'll be looking forward to that.
So next week, love it at Buford.
The week after that, Ringgold and Heritage playing.
Lots of exciting football coming up, but nothing's going to be very tough to beat tonight's game.
You say Fletcher's your last thoughts.
Culver County came in here.
I'm not sure if they were expecting a walk over, but Warner Robins came to play.
The Demons had a week off to prepare, and Coker County's got to go back to the drawing board.
If they remember, this isn't any kind of a, you know, death sentence for their season.
They started last year, oh three, ended up at the Georgia Dome.
They're four no.
To start the season now we'll see what coach probes can do this.
Might actually be one of those good losses.
You know.
You never know about that again.
Fletcher Proctor, all our crew, thank you very much for the job everybody did tonight to support us.
And thank you very much for watching from around the country and around the world.
