In the beginning, many delegates didn't necessarily want to separate from Britain.

Their plan was to reconcile with the British Parliament to keep their freedoms.

But Thomas Paine, the author of "Common Sense," didn't agree.

When the pamphlet was published on January 10th, 1776. public assumptions about the necessity of kings, succession, and tyranny were challenged for the first time.

But what really made Paine's message stand out was the way he said it.

He used everyday language, gritty expressions, and common sense examples to share philosophical and revolutionary ideas with the masses.

I mean, he even went so far as to call King George III the Royal Brute of Britain.

The man had guts.

And 250 years later, his ideas still resonate, helping "Common Sense" remain one of the most important bestsellers ever, and proving it's not always what you say, but how you say it.
