(funky upbeat music) (music fades) (SouFy speaking in foreign language) - What up to everybody?
Name is SouFy, I'm the creator, owner, director of Vibes with the Tribes.
Vibes with the Tribes was created in 2020.
It was like during the pandemic and it was going back and forth whether we was able to do it in person or not.
So we did it virtually the first year, and then 2021 was the first in-person event.
It's an event that combines powwow and also music, whether it's rap, country, rock, alternative, anybody that's making noise in the indigenous Native music scene.
We'll have the local artists that are here in the city, Native artists that are making their way and emerging.
And then we'll bring out some of the national or international Native artists that are doing well, that are maybe putting out new music in Indian Country, and we'll put them all together.
One of the coolest things is a lot of the artists that I do bring out, they've never been to Waawiyatanong, they've never been to Detroit before.
So it's also like a hosting thing too, to bring them here to our city.
So it's always a mesh of people coming from anywhere, different reservations, different cities from around the country.
And we always make sure we have our people representing Detroit at the festival.
Concert of Colors is always doing great work with musicians and artists and putting them on amazing platforms and supporting them, whether that's financially, whether that's with just putting them in positions to better their career and their artistry, and Concert of Colors has been doing that.
So miigwetch to Concert of Colors.
Thank them very much for this neighborhood programing.
We're grateful to be a part of it, man.
If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be able to have all these amazing artists here.
- Let's go.
This open concept thing is so cool, by the way, having the stage on the floor.
