Cook County Health recently unveiled the Change Institute, a health care equity think tank

In a new report, the Chicago Department of Public Health finds life expectancy for all Chicagoans dropped by almost two years during the first year of the COVID pandemic. And while COVID had an impact, it was diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and stroke -- illnesses that have disproportionately plagued Black and Brown communities -- that exacted the worst toll.
