I'm Hannah Goodin alongside Jon Nelson.
Thanks for joining us for this Turkey Day bracketology.
- Pre-Turkey Day.
- Special.
- Turkey Day is tomorrow, pre-turkey.
- Yeah, Turkey Day Eve.
- Turkey Day Eve Day.
- Quarter final bracketology special.
- Turkey Day Eve Day quarter final bracket special.
There we go.
(Jon chuckles) - Yeah, I think we got that down.
- There you go.
- Maybe that was the word of the week.
- No, because- - Turkey Day.
(Hannah laughing) - 'Cause that would be too easy, and of course, that's how it usually works here on the show and then I have to do, like, a minute plank or a nine-minute plank or something, so.
- I haven't decided what the punishment is gonna be yet, so guys in the comments section, guys and girls, let me know what Jon should do today for the Turkey Day Eve.
- Day.
- Bracketology special- - Yeah.
- Punishment.
- There it is.
(Jon chuckling) - [Bonk] What about the turkey dance?
- Ooh.
- But I don't know what that is Bonk, so- - We could make it up.
- [Bonk] You can make one up.
- Okay, but the problem- - Okay, the punishment is the turkey dance.
- The problem with that, sir, is that I am locked into position and couldn't- - - [Bonk] You can make it work.
- Do a full whatever, so, all right, so if that's on the clock- - We will.
- That's on the clock, so be it.
All right, so we'll see.
- All right, let's see what everyone's doing.
Shot Me Live says, "Y'all know I had baked chicken for lunch."
- Okay.
- Michael Devane, "Lunch is being served on the coast, Brunswick stew."
- Yes.
- Perfect on a cool day like today, I love Brunswick stew.
Let us know what you guys are having for lunch, and we also want to know what your favorite Turkey Day side is.
- Well, okay, so there's that.
And then, the question that we had on the Football Fridays in Georgia podcast, is there something special within your family that is a family dish that's kind of outside the purview of Thanksgiving meal that is added to the mix.
Because we all know about turkey and dressing and cranberry sauce- - Cranberry.
- And all of the casseroles and things.
Is there something specific to your family that is a family tradition kind of outside the box that's part of Thanksgiving as well?
- I like that.
- And yeah, I'm right there with you, my friend.
So, you get the words from above and then you have to agree.
I will give you mine.
- Okay.
- Okay, and this comes courtesy of the boss.
It is a rice dish that is named after her grandmother, and literally all it is is white rice.
Take a packet of white rice, the one that you get in the store, that's like a foot long, and about four inches tall.
You take that, you put it in a bowl, two cans of beef consomme and an entire stick of butter.
- Oh!
- Throw it all into the bowl, let it cook.
Basically, it turns all of the white rice brown because of the consomme, and the butter keeps it together as an item so you don't lose the rice and you have wayward rice going all over the place.
It's called Stacy's Rice- - Okay.
- And it was one of the first dishes that the boss ever cooked for me.
That was something of her family, and it is a family tradition.
It's gonna be a part of our...
It's always a part of our Thanksgiving too.
So entire packet of rice, two cans of beef consomme, and an entire stick of butter- - - Wow.
- Thrown into a pile.
It is amazing, and I have it as a meal on its own because the boss knows to make more than just for the two of us.
- Sounds like a bit of a stomachache, but- - - No.
- We'll go with it.
- Not at all.
- We'll go with it.
- It is not a stomachache at all.
- We'll go with it.
I'm trying to see if anyone's putting in anything here in the comment section about Thanksgiving.
Dontell Smith, "Baked macaroni and cheese is my favorite dish."
- Okay, okay.
- Ooh, Ooh.
- I can go there.
- Shot Me Live, I'm gonna say that wrong every single time.
"We have seafood boil for Thanksgiving."
- Interesting.
- I like that.
- That's an interesting wild card, we like that.
- All right, let's get to the show.
We'll get to more of these comments later on.
We've got a lot of brackets to get through.
- Yes.
- So we wanna start things off by recapping our second-round playoff game last week, like we always do in the A block here, we take a look back at last week before we turn the page.
It was the 7A second-round showdown between number-one seed Milton, and number-two seed Marietta, at the Eagle's nest, Jon.
- Big night for Jordan McDonald, averaging about 10 yards of carry and north of 200 yards on the night, and it was all Milton early.
You go out of the, I guess the wild eagle formation and Jordan McDonald gets a couple of touchdowns.
Then Marietta comes back in with the long touchdown.
The defensive back went for the pick, didn't get it.
Marietta comes back.
They come in close, and that was just before the half.
That made it 24-7.
Then once again, back comes Marietta barging into the end zone, but eventually it would be Milton's game, once again, after Mariette tries to put it up in the air and put it into the end zone, but the running game of Milton just entirely too strong, whether it was a quarterback or running back and they get The Duke at home, Mill Creek coming to Milton this week, when we look at 7A, pound your chest, young man, because you won by 17, 38-21.
Big win for Adam Clack.
Good for Tabatha Turner Wilkins to catch up with him and the entire offensive line and the post-game show, and that was a treat to have Adam Clack having the offensive line behind Jordan McDonald, our Georgia caught in commission, player of the game.
Big effort by Milton.
A lot of folks thought Milton was gonna be making a dash to the last game of the year, and they get another game at the Eagle's nest, Mill Creek, coming here in the quarter finals, upper left.
- And, advice from Coach Clack, don't overeat on Thanksgiving.
- Don't overeat.
- I mean, how many times did he say that in the post-game interview?
- Don't overeat.
- Like, five times, letting his team know, "We are not gonna overeat.
We're gonna be thin and trim on Friday."
- Or you're gonna work it all off in practice if you do overeat- - Exactly.
- During the Thanksgiving week, since there isn't any school.
- All right, there were 128 teams in action.
We narrowed it down to 64.
Here were my top-five games that I was keeping my eye on.
In 7A, one-seed Lowndes, defeated two-seed Norcross, 35-24.
In 5A, one-seed Jones County.
defeated three-seed Eastside, 66-42, woo.
Putting up 66 points, we'll talk about that more later in the show- - [Jon] Uh-huh.
- [Hannah] And you guys know I love an upset.
Three-seed Blessed Trinity beat one-seed Woodward 28-13.
- [Jon] Running game's strong in that one.
- Love it, three-seed Dougherty beat one-seed Riverdale 7-0.
And two-seed Fitzgerald beat one-seed Fannin County 28-14.
Ring the upset alarms, Jon!
- Well, I mean there were some, and we'll get into some when it comes to my games as well, because there were a couple of four-seeds that made it out of round two and have made it into the quarter finals.
You look at Fitzgerald, obviously, they had to go on the road.
It was a game that happened again last year in the playoffs, big win for them up in the mountains.
Dougherty in a grinder wins that one 7-0.
The running game for Blessed Trinity, we caught up with the coach after the game on the post-game show, and it was- - Brewster Laurie says, "Woo hoo!"
- And it was a very controlled bus until we asked them to be excited about it, once we were finally hanging up with the coach and you know, we'll get into the Jones County game in just a little bit, but Lowndes in a back and forth with Norcross down there at the Concrete Palace.
Lowndes again, makes it to the quarter finals with their big win.
- I know it was hard for you to pick five, Jon, but let's see what you came up with.
- See what I came up with?
(Hannah laughing) And we went outside the footprint, Calhoun and Ware in a back and forth.
It was a fumble inside the 10 that preserved the win for Calhoun as Ware County was driving for the game-time score.
Lee County and Cambridge, this one was a back and forth all night long.
Lee County advances by three.
Crisp and Oconee, we thought Oconee as an angry two-seed, but they had to go to Cordele.
Crisp gets the Duke 26-10.
Peach County, this one was an upset alert.
This one, we had the sirens going most of the evening.
Peach County up early and up all night knocking off Monroe Area, 24-21, and then Callaway.
This one was an upset alert because of the seeding numbers.
Bleckley was on upset alert last week because of what they had to do to get past Early County in a 1-4.
Callaway comes to town and knocks off the team from Cochrane, 35-14, so your defending champion in AA, still hanging in there.
Callaway and Pete Wiggins, the Cavs making their way from Hogansville to Cochrane, getting the Duke, advancing to the next round.
The Calhoun-Ware County game, back and forth all night long.
You have an opening kickoff in the second half for Calhoun.
They have to kick it away to Ware County.
What do they do?
Onside kick, get the recovery, go in for the score, back-and-forth game all night long, and you also mentioned the games that were on your list, Hannah, Warner Robins, and Cartersville, another one that was a tough game.
Five plays at the goal line.
Warner Robins' defense comes up big to win that one by a touchdown at Weinman Stadium.
We're being yelled at by Evan Reese in the comments section.
- Is it in all caps?
- All caps.
- Okay.
- "Why isn't Roswell and North Cobb in the top-five game, that was the biggest upset of the entire season?"
- It was an upset, no question.
You see, 'cause when we do fives, it gives us a chance to talk about five and then, coming out of those five, it gives us a chance to talk about all the other games.
We caught up with Chris Pruitt after the game on the post-game show.
- [Hannah] Mm-hmm, we did.
- It's great to catch up with him after a back and forth as well, and that was what we saw last round, in round two.
You saw a lot of games that were in the back and forth, and honestly, it would come up to the last team with the ball would end up with the win.
Robbie Roper, we talked to coach Burt about that drive, what it's like to have Robbie Roper at QB for a drive like that, knocking off North Cobb, a perennial top-three team.
Most of the season, Roswell in the GPB top tens knocks off North Cobb and all of the stars that we've been gravitating toward covering North Cobb all season long.
Roswell, who's been on Football Fridays, they've been a stalwart here on this season in 2021, got the Duke over North Cobb, and they advance upper right.
- We try to spread the love around too.
- We love all our children equally here.
- One from 7A, one from 6A.
- Mm-hmm.
- We went 5A heavy this week.
- We did.
On the Football Fridays in Georgia podcast, excellent plug, we caught up with Mike Chastain from Jones County and we also caught up with Clay Stevenson from Calhoun, so it was great to catch up with them on the Football Fridays in Georgia podcast, spending some time in 5A this week.
- Speaking of spreading the love, our Play of the Week comes from single-A, second-round playoff matchup between Metter and Schley County.
Watch Danny Cheley spin and run down.
- [Jon] Little B button action right there!
- [Hannah] Woop!
- Little B button action going from the right-hand side of the screen to the left, and that only means one thing, that you went into the end zone.
So let's take a look at it again.
B button and now he was gone.
He wasn't necessarily gone-gone because he had a lot of folks that were chasing after him so after the B button spin move, he gone.
Metter got the win there in round number two.
- Like how I slowed that second spin down.
- That you did, so that way, folks could sit there and see the B button in all of its glory.
That's you know, when you're sitting there and you're playing Nintendo, the B button gives you the spin move, and that's what we saw there.
Great move by Metter to advance pass Schley County in round number two, to make it to the quarter finals in Single-A.
- All right, one more thing before we turn the page on the second round, biggest storylines, biggest takeaways from last Friday, Jon.
- Hit me, all the offense, and we're gonna get into that.
Well, you've seen a lot of large numbers from round number two and Jones County was the largest of the bunch.
The four-seed, we had those two four-seeds make it out of round number two.
Johns Creek gets the win again.
They move on, Manchester gets the win, but it took them not one, not two, but three overtimes in their game against NCA, and Bradley Warren and that kind of falls into travel, travel, travel.
Manchester had to leave at about 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday to go from Meriwether County to the coast with two stops in between.
They had it all figured out.
Once again, we talked to Clay Stevenson.
Let's see, he said that they stopped in Forsyth.
Then they stopped in Tifton to get from Calhoun to Waycross.
- Over 300 miles.
- 300-plus miles, and they only have 127 to travel this week.
- Unbelievable.
- When we look at the bracket and they end up going from Calhoun to Clark Central, when you're looking low right, and 5A but you've got a lot of cases for teams that are still having to pack up.
Northwest Whitfield, last week.
They had to go from here out of the camera, down to here out of the camera.
That's what they had to do.
They went from Tunnel Hill to Bainbridge last week to play in round number two.
That's the travel that's there.
We'll look at the travel when we look at the brackets coming up in just a bit.
- Yeah, Shot Me Live wants to know who's the longest drive this week.
So we'll hold off on that, till we get- - - We will examine when we hit the brackets.
- Hey, Calhoun only has 124 miles to travel.
- Okay, I'm sorry, I was three miles off.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah, you were wrong, it's 124 miles.
- It's not the first time I was wrong.
(Hannah laughing) - All right, guys, that was round-two recap.
Time to turn the page to the quarterfinals.
That's Jon Nelson, I'm Hannah Goodin.
This is "Countdown to Kickoff" here on GPB Sports.
Facebook Live, we wanna know what you're having for lunch.
We want to know what you're eating for Turkey Day.
Get all of your comments in and we'll get to those in just a little bit.
It is bracket time, but first we gotta preview our Game of the Week.
- Yeah.
- So let's do that.
- Let's preview our game of the week.
- The road warriors from Walton try to continue their journey through the class 7A playoffs, with a visit to Brookwood on Friday.
Walton and then Brookwood were supposed to meet during the third game of the season, but that game was canceled because of COVID concerns.
It was not rescheduled.
Brookwood defeated the Raiders, 43-32 in 2020, lead the series 4-3.
A little bit more information, the Raiders are 8 and 3 and are in the elite 8 for the first time, since 2011, when they reached the championship game.
Brookwood 10 and 2, they're the Region 4 champs.
- [Jon] Mm-hmm.
- [hannah] The Broncos have won eight straight games in the last reach, so third round in 2017, when they advanced to the final four kickoff, as always, is set for 7:30.
- Recruiting 2021 proceeds this at seven o'clock when we get to catch up with folks and you had a great interview this week.
- I did.
- And that was a fun one, and it has to do with 7A as well so we'll tease that one.
It's a great 7A interview.
- I mean, I can tell them.
- Okay, you wanna go ahead and do that?
- Well, I mean, the tease is it's the number one player in the entire country.
- There you go.
- Travis Hunter.
- There you go.
- That was the interview this week, so look for that.
- So that'll be on Recruiting 2021.
You'll see that at seven o'clock.
Kickoff, a little after 7:30, and I think when Walton knocked off Colquitt in round number one, that might've opened the bracket up just a little bit so you end up with the Walton-Brookwood matchup down there, low left.
We'll look at it in the brackets in just a bit.
- All right, bracket time, let's have some fun.
- Oh, wow, that was quick, okay.
- [Hannah] I know, I know.
We're getting right to it, Jon.
There's only 15 minutes left in the show and you've got 10 minutes to get through this.
I'm just joking.
- All right, so we've already talked about Milton and Mill Creek.
- [Hannah] 7A.
- [Jon] Mill Creek coming through as the two.
Walton-Brookwood's our game of the week.
Grayson and Roswell.
- [hannah] Mm-hmm.
- [Jon] That's how it's gonna look up, upper right, that one is at Ray Manus because it's the lower team that gets the Duke here when it comes to what you're looking on home side, so Grayson and Roswell.
Collins Hill and Lowndes is your other match-up there, low-right in 7A.
A lot of folks looked at Collins Hill and Lowndes as the idea in 7A in the quarters low-right, and that's what they got.
6A, show you what we have here.
Johns Creek, we mentioned them as the four-seed, knocking off Evans.
Dacula, you want upset alert?
- [Hannah] Mm-hmm.
- [Jon] That's upset alert.
Dacula going to Brunswich, knocking off the Pirates, unbeaten season gone for Sean Pender.
Johns Creek goes on the road, but it's only to Dacula.
North side, Warner Robins knocks off a very stout defensive at Douglas County team.
They have to come to South Atlanta to take on Hughes.
Hughes beat Shiloh, that is low-left.
Right-hand side Carrollton, Grisham Stadium, battle of the two-seeds.
Westlake and Carrollton, that's gonna be a fun one to look at in 6A.
Buford and Lee Count, a lot of folks, once again, top two teams in 6A, thought that those might be the championship teams, but because of the rotation, they're playing in the quarters, that is 6A.
Let's go to 5A, show you what we know here.
Creekside and Whitewater.
Creekside in a shootout knocks off Pius.
Whitewater ends Lithia Spring, Cinderella season so Creekside and Whitewater, Creekside goinng to Whitewater.
The two and the one Warner Robins survives Cartersville at Weinman.
Jones County, we talked about them.
That one is in gray, two and one Jones County, 30 miles apart.
That one was fun.
Once again, caught up with Mike Chastain on the Football Fridays in Georgia podcast.
Big win for Villarica knocking off Harris County.
Great work by Tim Barron.
They get to host Blessed Trinity, so BT and their running game, it's gonna be a stout order for Villarica and that defense.
Clark Central and Calhoun.
We talked about that one.
Clark Central has been very, very tough defensively, knocked off Starr's Mill.
Calhoun in the shootout with Ware County.
Let's go to 4A, show you what we know here.
Dougherty with that 7-0 win.
They have to go as a three-seed to Carver, Columbus.
Carver, Columbus started out slow against Hapeville Charter, ended up putting North of 50 on the board so Dougherty has to travel to Carver, Columbus, upper-left.
Cedartown, big win over Cairo.
Perry knocks off Flowery Branch.
A lot of points there on the board, as well.
Cedartown 0-1, Perry 0-1, low-left and Quad A. Marist and Benedictine.
Let me guess, we're gonna talk to Christian Gokel from ESPN Coastal in the post-game show.
- [Hannah] Most likely.
- [Jon] Marist and Benedictine, another championship game, again in the quarter finals.
Marist has to go to the coast to take on Holden Geriner and the quarterback and that stout offense and the defense.
Everybody at Benedictine- - [Hannah] Everybody.
- [Jon] Everybody at Benedictine.
North Oconee as a one-seed they'd made their way through, but pack a lunch, a dinner, maybe a midnight snack.
You're gonna have to go to Bainbridge.
We talked about Bainbridge knocking off Northwest Whitfield.
AAA, show you what we know here.
Cedar Grove and Crisp, irony alert.
Miguel Patrick, the Head Coach of Crisp, last year, was the head coach of Cedar Grove.
So Cedar Grove has to go to Cordele.
Appling County as a two-seed knocked off Cherokee Bluff.
Great run by Coach Jones and Cherokee Bluff was a one.
They have to go to the Brickyard, and show you what's going on there, low-left with Thomson.
You have an index finger up.
- [Hannah] Chris Floyd in the comment section says, "AAA football's one of the toughest to play.
"Football in, a lot of great athletes.
"I know that there is great talent in Georgia, "but roads are not easy in AAA."
- [Jon] They are not.
Burke County is a two-seed.
Carver, Atlanta is a two-seed.
That one's going to be here in downtown.
Peach and Pierce, we talked about the upset with Monroe Area.
Pierce County, just doing their business, knocked off Windsor Forest, beat Dawson County.
Peach County again has to go on the road, this time to Blackshear now to one of the toughest ones.
Also across the board, AA, Northeast Macon continues to win upset over Haroldson County and Scott PV, but they have to travel to Swainsboro now.
Fitzgerald and Putnam, we talked about Fitzgerald's win over Fanon Putnam County.
Once again in Eatonton, just quietly doing their business.
Fitzgerald has to travel again.
South Atlanta and their running game.
They will host Calloway in Atlanta because Calloway is a two seed, Raven County and Thomasville.
Gunner Stockton has to travel to Thomasville, Veterans Memorial Stadium-- - [Hannah] Can he do it again.
- Wild cats and bulldogs going at it in Thomasville.
Great game down there, low rights, single A where are we going first?
Surprise me public Macon County in Montezuma.
They have to travel to those civil to take on Irwin County.
That's a big matchup on the left-hand side.
Manchester we talked about them as a four.
They've got to go to Rochelle, take on the stove show, right-hand side Turner County and Metter.
We showed you the highlights about Metter beating Sci-ley, Brooks County, Warren County, Maurice Fleming.
Doesn't matter where it is.
He has to go to Warrington now, and yet he does with two seeds, Brooks County and Warren in the quarters in the public.
And on the private side once again, Holy Innocents, Eagle's Landing Christian sneaky good game on the left.
Trinity Christian gets Darlington.
Fellowship has to travel to the coast for Calvary Day.
That one's a mean one as well.
PAC and FPD, that is our last GAAME in the BRACKETS.
There you go, so that's your look at all eight brackets, great matchups in the quarters.
A lot of games we talked about could be championship games, but because of how things rotated around, we get them in the quarters this time.
That's some tough stuff.
- So do we come up with who is traveling the farthest.
- Ooh boy, I would say it might be Fellowship.
- Okay.
- Having to go from Alpharetta to the coast.
Marist might be a contender going from just inside the perimeter.
And this is why I think it might be Fellowship because Fellowships North, more North up Georgia, 400 and having to travel.
Trying to think of Raven County and Thomasville that's another contender.
So I would say off the top of my head Fellowship to Calvary Day, Marist, I think is a little less, Raven County having to go from that part of the state.
Actually, let's say so, if you're looking at me Northeastern part of the state, having to go all the way down to the Southwestern part of the state.
So let's say Raven County having to travel the Thomasville, let's go there.
- Well, if you drive like me, you can make it from Atlanta to the coast in five and a half hours.
But then if you're coming from Alpharetta and you're in a bus.
- Yeah, you're stopping - And you're stopping-- - And stop the meals and things and all that stuff.
- Seven hour?
- Probably seven or eight, you're probably stopping twice.
- Yeah.
- And if my guess is you're probably stopped somewhere South of the city.
- Okay.
- For scythe maybe Merry persons might be on alert five-star stadium and Mercer, just to kind of stretch your legs out a little bit, then maybe Moultrie or somewhere like that.
Get on Georgia 300.
Maybe you're stopping it at Plano Chris or something like that.
You wanna stop at someplace that has grass to get to the guys acclimated.
So you're getting off the bus at five o'clock.
So you're probably leaving 9:00 AM from Tiger.
Just to work your way down to Thomasville with two stops and a couple of meals.
- Michael Devane says, "Raven versus Thomasville is your longest," he thinks.
- I agree, that's a great idea, we'll go with that.
Until proven otherwise from the Googles and the Google maps.
We'll go with that one.
- Okay, Shot Me Live that's about eight hours, yep.
- Yeah.
- Yep, so... - So then probably when the show is over.
- Raven ever, Justin call Haley agrees, Raven's the farthest 335 miles.
See they're doing it for us, doing the hard work for us.
- Yeah, so once again- - - 335.
- If you go 60 miles an hour, that's 60 to 335- - - No math.
- That's 300, three and half, but that's if you're traveling 60 and you're nonstop, so that's five nonstop.
So you're probably thinking eight would stop.
So yeah, let's go there.
- Let's get a few more comments in before we move on.
And Michael Devane says, "Interesting twist on Lounge versus Collins Hill, "a future Seminole playing a future hurricane."
- Yeah, and you know, with Jacurri Brown, that's the biggest question.
Honestly, Jacurri Brown and Chase Belcher, when he caught up with head coach Jamey DuBose on the show after our game last week, he was wondering about the health of his quarterback and the health of one of his running backs.
It's gonna be a tall order going up against Travis Hunter and Sam Horn in the first place.
But if you don't have Jacurri Brown at 100%, you don't have Chase Belcher at 100%.
You're having to have to go against that offense of Collins Hill.
It's gonna be a taller order, all right, the tallest of tall orders probably for Lowneds if they're not singing it at full 100% song, when it comes to this match up against Collins Hill, Travis Hunter going to Florida State, the Florida State alumni on this show, is quite pleased with that at the moment.
We're still anticipating early signing day to see if that actually does happen and Jacurri Brown.
So right now heading to Miami, it's gonna be an interesting one, but yeah, it's gonna be a tall order for Lowndes if not everyone's at full song.
- Jerry the O Dell says, "AA playoffs along with the class A private "has to be the best final eight ever in history."
Ooh!
- I like and it's in all caps, right?
- Well, lots of exclamation.
- Lot of exclamation points in capital letters.
He's not wrong.
AA to me has always been one of the more stout because it could be, when you look at the top 10 in the GPB poll going in, you could see 10 teams if the bracket falls the right way.
You can see 10 teams chasing after a state championship.
And what we've seen in AA, a team like Callaway making their way through as a two seed.
You see Rabun County, you see Thomasville that matchup it's low right that we are talking about.
So those kind of matchups they're right there, but it's been one of the deepest divisions for me over the last handful of years, when it comes the playoffs in the overall about AA being pretty tight.
And we mentioned AAA as well.
You look at that bracket that one's pretty strong too.
- And we mention it, but speaking of Collins Hill, we were just talking about them.
I talked to the senior cornerback, Travis Hunter from recruiting 2020, 2021.
- 2020, 2020, 2021.
(Hannah laughing) - [Hannah] There's only a few- - - [Jon] That show right there.
- [Hannah] Right there, there's only a few shows left guys.
You do not want to miss our Emmy nominated recruiting show.
It comes on every Friday at seven, right before kickoff.
There's only two more shows left.
- [Jon] Well, I mean, I think when we get in, we got signing day.
- [Hannah] Yeah.
- So it's- - - Two more shows and then signing-- - This one.
- International signing day.
- Three more, 'cause if it's before the quarterfinals, before the semi-finals, before the finals and then signing day, that's four.
- Math.
- Math.
- Four more shows left.
No, not before the finals.
- Okay.
- Nope, there's too many games.
- Okay, so then there's too many games.
So it's like three maybe or something.
- Yeah three more left.
- We still have a handful of episodes left.
We're working on the math.
Math has never been my strongest suit here.
- Yeah, I think there's only a handful left.
And then last Thursday, might be our final account on the kickoff.
Next Thursday might be our final account on the kickoff if I'm not able to make it for the 16th for our recap show.
(Jon laughing) So we usually do a season recap show the Thursday following championships, but it's TBD.
- Okay.
- You might have to unless you wanna do it yourself.
(Hannah chuckling) We'll let you know.
- Jon, talks for half an hour with you.
- We'll let you know, follow us on social media at GPBSports for that announcement.
But we have at least one more show- - - And Jon go.
- With you guys to recap and to preview, and to hang out, and have fun like we always do.
We'll leave you today with our kicker.
We promised earlier in the show, we talk more about Jones County.
Jones County versus Eastside.
This is what 66 points looks like.
- [Jon] Yeah, and it's a lot of offense.
When you have a quarterback like John Alan Richter, - [Hannah] Aka Jar.
- Jar.
And it is a jarring offense.
I mean, legitimately when you put north of 60 on the board and there were a couple of instances here, thanks to our friends at 13WMAZ for the highlights here.
But there were a couple of instances in the Eastside game, where you wanted to distance yourself even further.
So they would kick onside kicks.
And this is something that is gonna be out on film for everybody playing Jones County, there would be onside kicks where Jones County would say this, no, we wanna keep possession.
We wanna keep it away from Eastside, knowing that the offense that Eastside had, and there was a lot of that jumping up and down as well.
They would onside kick repeatedly.
They'd score, onside kick, try to recover to keep the ball out of the opponent's hands.
So that's something, if you haven't bought your ticket to be in gray, I would anticipate that you need to do that now, if you haven't done it already, because that place will be packed.
And I think the most important person there on Friday night might even be the Jones County Fire Marshall.
- Wow.
- To see many people can break into that space and can fit safely into that space.
- You safe in there, be safe.
- It's gonna be a tremendous environment.
Once again, two schools, 30 miles apart.
Jones County hosting Warner Robbins in five a low left, get your tickets now.
Find a way to get your tickets now.
You can find someone who can get your tickets now.
Do all of that.
There's gonna be great environments across the board in these eight home games that are gonna be across all of the four home games that are gonna be across all eight classifications.
So 32 home sites coming up, Jones and Warner Robins, 30 miles apart that one's gonna be a fun one.
- Jerry the O Dell says, "There has to be accountant in the kickoff recap show.
"Like there is every year and to get Matt to fill in for me."
So that's an option, that's an option.
Jerry the O Dell- - - Take it to Zoom in if you want.
- Okay.
- [Bonk] Everybody have a challenge working for Matt.
- Ooh!
- [Bonk] I think you needs to be the punisher.
- There you go.
- You never said the word today, I totally forgot.
You didn't even say it.
- Nice.
- It was coin toss.
- Okay.
(cock crawling) - We never even got to the coin toss.
We never even gone to the coin toss topic.
- Excellent.
- Who won the coin toss, Jon?
- The lower sections if it was, because what we're talking in brackets is the team, it's the lower team, if it's the same.
So that's why.
- [Bonk] He's first slippery, he gets out of his way for long.
- I know this is the second week in a row that you've gotten out of it.
Next week we're getting them guys, Jerry the O Dell's TV prediction, Walton 38, Brookwood 41 in regulation.
Because as Wayne Gandy said in the opening last week with Matt Stewart expect some defense and a good close game.
- Yeah, and I'm looking for that as well.
And we're also seeing what a healthy Dylan Lonergan, what that means to Brookwood as well.
We've seen Walden football Fridays.
We've seen Brookwood on football Fridays.
So you know what you're getting with these two teams.
But once again, a healthy Brookwood, not like it was last season where Lonergan was struggling with his health.
And we had them in the Graceland game on football Fridays in Georgia.
But you're seeing a healthy Dylan Lonergan making a difference.
You're seeing Alexander Diggs running the ball from one end of the screen to the other where a Brookwood, and Grayson turned into Diggs town basically.
So we'll see if a Brookwood Community Stadium turns into Diggs town again on Friday night.
- Hottest take of the day, Evan Reese.
- Okay.
- Not a fan of Thanksgiving food.
- Okay.
- If I ever see a turkey on any day, other than Thanksgiving, I go crazy.
- So, all right, so Evan, then let me ask you this.
You remember the Friends episode where they had Thanksgiving and Chandler just wanted to have spaghetti because that was his thing.
- On Thanksgiving?
- Evan, do you do the atypical Chandler being meal, on Thanksgiving?
Do you do something like spaghetti?
What is your Thursday meal?
Let me phrase it that way.
All, see now our grand exalted Poobah producer Loco.
It makes meatballs, and I get that.
I did get that completely 'cause their kids hate turkey.
Evan, what is your atypical Thursday meal?
Upcoming Thursday meal.
I'm not gonna use the T word because apparently since you don't like.
- Don't trigger him.
- I don't wanna use T word, - Don't trigger him.
- But what is your Thursday meal?
I'm gonna use that, the THA word, but I'll use the THU word.
What is your atypical Thursday upcoming meal?
What do you do, are you like Chandler Bing?
Do you do spaghetti?
What do you do?
- Well, we hope everybody has a great Thanksgiving.
I'll be eating for three.
I'm eating all the turkey.
I'm eating all of the food.
(Jon chuckling) Jon is having his weird rice dish.
- It is not a weird rice dish.
(Hannah laughing) You wanna talk to the boss about that, and say, it's a weird rice?
- Boss and Jon are gonna be eating their weird rice dish.
I'm gonna be eating turkey.
We hope everybody has a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
And then we are right back to it on Friday.
It's Walden, it's Brookwood recruiting 2021 seven o'clock, kickoff 7:30, final thoughts, Jon?
- Weird rice dish, I disagree.
- I've offended him.
I'm sorry, Jon.
Bye guys, we'll see you Friday.
(upbeat music)
