The Greenwood section of Tulsa, Oklahoma was dubbed "Black Wall Street" by Booker T. Washington, and was the most affluent black community in the United States with black owned businesses. In 1921 and in less than 24 hours, an angry white mob burned it to the ground leaving 800 people injured and 300 dead.
