THEY ARGUE THE RECORDS WERE TOO INTRUSIVE AND HURT WARD'S FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS BUT THE NINTH CIRCUIT UPHELD THE RULING AND ORDERED THE SUBPOENA CAN MOVE FORWARD BECAUSE THE COMMITTEE'S INVESTIGATION IS NOT ABOUT WARD'S POLITICS BUT HER INVOLVEMENT IN THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE ATTACK ON THE U.S. CAPITOL.
>>> A SUPERVISOR SAID THAT SHE'S BEEN ASSURED BY THE STATE SENATE CAN HELP THE COUNTY HAVE A HAND COUNT OF THE ELECTION'S BALLOTS AND IT WAS APPROVE APPROVED BY THE SUPERVISORS.
SECRETARY OF STATE, KATIE HOBBS, GAVE THE COUNTY UNTIL 5:00, TO SHOW HOW HAND COUNTS ARE LEGAL AND FACE A LAWSUIT.
WE'VE JUST HEARD IN COCHISE COUNTY, THEY HAVE AGREED TO EXPAND IT AND WE'LL SEE HOW THAT GOES OVER WITH THE STATE.
>>> A NEW OMICRON VARIENT IS RAISING CONCERNS AND RESPIRATORY VIRUS IS FILLING FILLING FILLING PEDIATRIC BEDS AND WILL HUBBLE, LET'S START WITH THE RSV, THIS IS HITTING KIDS HARD.

RSV IS A RESPIRATORY VIRUS THAT'S PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS FOR LITTLE KIDS.
AND WE HAVE RSV EVERY WINTER SEASON AND THIS YEAR, IT'S STILL OCTOBER AND WE'RE SEEING A REALLY BIG INCREASE IN THIS RSV TRANSMISSION AMONG LITTLE KIDS AND THE HOSPITALS ARE PACKED FULL OF KIDS WHO NEED, YOU KNOW, SOME ASSISTANCE BREATHING AND THAT IS A RESPIRATORY VIRUS.
IT'S FOR OLDER KIDS AND FOR ADULTS, IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL.
FOR LITTLE KIDS, IT CAN BE QUITE DANGEROUS.
SO THERE'S A LOT OF IT RIGHT NOW.
>> Ted: OBVIOUSLY, A RESPIRATORY VIRUS, TROUBLE BREATHING?
>> IT CREATES A LOT OF MUCOUS AND IN LITTLE TINY KIDS, THEY DON'T HAVE THE COUGH REFLEX AND THAT FLUID CAN BUILD UP AND CAUSE PNEUMONIA AND THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT SO TROUBLING.
>> Ted: DOES 90% OF PEDIATRIC BEDS IN ARIZONA, DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT?
>> THERE'S NOT A LOT OF BEDS AND I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED.
I LOOKED AT THE SURVEILLANCE REPORT BEFORE COMING IN AND I STOOD BACK AND SAID, WOW!
THIS LOOKS LIKE A JANUARY EPICURVE AND THIS WILL USUALLY RUN ITS COURSE AND NOT LIKE RSV WILL BE TERRIBLE ALL WINTER.
IT WILL RUN ITS COURSE AND IT WILL MELLOW OUT.
JUST BECAUSE IT STARTS EARLY DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL LAST FOREVER.

BUT WHAT WE SAW IN THE SOUTHERN HEM MISSHEMISPHERE, THEY HAD A ROBUST INFLUENZA SEASON AND FINISHED THEIR WINTER AND THAT'S USUALLY A PRETTY GOOD SIGNAL ABOUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN FOR THE COMING YEAR.
WE'VE HAD TWO VERY MILD INFLUENZA SEASONS BECAUSE OF THE INTERVENTIONS WITH MAXIMUMMING.

YOU TALK ABOUT EDERLY A SECOND AGO, CALL TO ACTION, GET THAT VACCINE DONE AND YOUR BIVALIENT BOOSTER FOR SENIORS.
A LOT OF PEOPLE SAY GET THEM TOGETHER, BUT NEVER MISS AN OPPORTUNITY AND THAT'S WHY THEY SAY THAT DO WHAT YOU WANT.

THE CHAMPION MODEL IS HOW HEALTH CENTERS GO THROUGH A PROCESS OF OBTAINING FEEDBACK FROM THERE.
YOUNG PEOPLE, FROM THE PATIENTS THEY SERVE, AROUND HOW THEY CAN BETTER ADAPT THEIR PRACTICES TO BETTER SERVE YOUNG PEOPLE.
HEALTH CENTERS GO THROUGH AN 1 18 MONTH CYCLE AND HOW THEY SERVE YOUNG PEOPLE AND IMPLEMENT CHANGES.

IT BEGINS IN YOUR FRONT OFFICE AND IT BEGINS ALL THE WAY.
THINK OF THE MANY STEPS IT TAKES BEFORE THEY GET TO THE EXAMING ROOM TO MEET WITH A PHYSICIAN LIKE ME.
IT'S ABOUT ADAPTING STEPS TO MAKE YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE POSITIVE EXPERIENCES.

WHEN YOU LOOK AT HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS, THERE'S PEDIATRIC SPACES AND ADULT SPACES AND NOT VISIBLE ADOLESCENT SPACES.
THERE ARE MINOR TWEAKS THAT YOU CAN DO, BUT I THINK WE HAVE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE'S A GENERAL LACK OF RECOLLECT RECOGNITION OF NEEDS.

>> WE HAVE A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO YOUNG PEOPLE.
HEALTH IS PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL AND IT'S HOW WE HELP YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL SUPPORTS TO THRIVE.
>> Ted: YOU GET GOOD HEALTH HABITS AS AN ADOLESCENT AND YOU EXHIBIT THOSE AS AN ADULT.
>> WE WANT OUR YOUNG PERSON TO FEEL EMPOWERED AND THEY HAVE OFTENTIMES PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AND TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR HEALTHCARE INTO THE FUTURE AND SO WE WANT THEM TO FIND A MEDICAL HOME AND A TRUSTED PROVIDER AND TO UNDERSTAND SERVICES THEY CAN ACCESS IN PRIVATE.
WE JUST WANT THEM TO BUILD COMFORT SO THAT IT'S A MORE POSITIVE HEALTHCARE EXPERIENCE AND THEY HAVE ACCESS SO THAT THEY DON'T AVOID CERTAIN OPPORTUNITIES TO SEEK HEALTHCARE.
>> Ted: I WOULD IMAGINE COMMUNICATION AND FEELING WELCOME AND BASIC THINGS.
YOU DON'T NEED A MEDICAL DEGREE FOR THAT AND IT SURE HELPS.
>> RIGHT.
I THINK THAT WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT IS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON CHANGES WE'VE SEEN AND JUST THINKING ABOUT ARTWORK AND DECORE AND THE CLOTHING YOU WEAR AND THE WAY THAT YOU MAKE PEOPLE FEEL LIKE INTENTIONALLY, THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENT FOR THEM TO FEEL WELCOMED AND VALUED.

ONE OF THE THINGS WITH THE HEALTH CENTER IS THAT THEY'VE ACTUALLY COME BACK, ESPECIALLY THOSE IN LARGE SYSTEMS WHERE ONE CLINIC WAS A PART OF A PREVIOUS COHORT.
THEY'VE COME BACK BECAUSE THEY WANT TO DISSEMINATE THIS BECAUSE THEY SEE THE VALUES OF WHAT WE DO EXPECT CHALLENGE AND THE VALUE OF CHANGES.

WE ARE GROWING AND NEED TO TRIPLE THE PROGRAM TO CATCH UP GIVEN THE FACT THAT WE HAVE THIS LAGGING ONE THOUSAND CLASSROOM NUMBER BEHIND US AND THE FACT THAT THE RETENSE NUMBERS ARE RETENTION NUMBERS ARE WHAT THEY ARE.
ONCE YOU KEEP A TEACHER THREE OR FOUR YEARS, THEY'RE LIKELY TO STAY 20 OR 30 AND IT'S GETTING THEM OVER THE NUMBER.
YOU CAN'T MAKE A RATIONAL DECISION TO GO INTO TEACHING IF YOU GO INTO DEBT.
YOU WON'T HAVE THAT STUDENT DEBT DEBT.
WE HAD A REGENT'S MEETING IN FLAGSTAFF AND A WAITRESS TAKING MY ORDER AT A MEXICAN RESTAURANT AND WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO FLAGSTAFF?
I LIVED IF BAKERSFIELD AND I REALLY WANTED TO TEACH AND I WANTED TO GO TO ONE OF THE CALIFORNIA SCHOOLS AND I LOOKED AT THE AMOUNT OF DEBT I WOULD CARRY AND THE AMOUNT THEY WOULD PAY ME AS A TEACHER AND NEVER MADE IT WORK AND HEARD ABOUT THIS PROGRAM.
I MOVED MY FAMILY TO FLAGSTAFF AND WILL SPEND MY LIFE HERE.
>> Ted: THAT'S NICE ABOUT ARIZONA TEACHERS GO TO NEIGHBORING STATES BECAUSE THEY PAY MORE.
YOU COULD LEARN TO BE A TEACHER IN A VARIETY OF WAYS AND DO YOU LEARN TO BE A TEACHER -- ARE THEY READY TO FACE THE CHALLENGES SO THE RETENTION RATE IMPROVES?
>> YES, BUT BE MINDFUL OF THE CHALLENGES THEY FACE.
WHEN YOU PUT 43 STUDENTS IN A CLASSROOM, THAT TEACHER WILL HAVE BURNOUT.
THE WORK-AROUNDS ARE CREATING STRESSES WHICH IS AGGRAVATING THE RETENTION ISSUE.
SO WE NEED TO ADDRESS IT WITH SALARY INCREASES AND WE NEED TO MAKE THE PROFESSION OF TEACHING MORE REWARDING FOR THESE WONDERFUL PEOPLE MOTIVATED TO TEACH AND CAN'T DEAL WITH THE STRESS.
>> Ted: THAT SOUNDS LIKE AN ANSWER TO A QUESTION, WHY IS THERE A TEACHER SHORTAGE?
I'VE HEARD EVERYTHING FROM LACK OF RESPECT TO LACK OF MONEY TO ALL IN BETWEEN.
IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE SEEING?
>> THIS IS A NATIONWIDE CRISIS AND REFLECTS ALL WHAT YOU'RE SEEING.
THE COSTS OF GETTING THE DEGREE AND STUDENT DEBT REQUIRED AND DOESN'T SQUARE WITH THE SALARY AND YOU HAVE OTHER STRESSORS IN THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS INVOLVED.
THE LACK OF RESPECT, WE EXPECT TEACHERS, SOCIAL WORKERS, SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS, ET CETERA, AND IT'S AND IT'S DESIGN FOR FAILURE AND NOT SUCCESS AND THE ACADEMY IS TRYING TO REVERSE THE ENGINEERING.
>> Ted: WE JUST SAW TEST RESULTS IN ARIZONA AND THERE'S MAJORITY OF STUDENTS ARE FAILING ENGLISH AND MAJORITY K-12 FAILING MATH AND THIRD GRADE.
IS THAT WHAT'S GOING ON HERE AND IS THAT A PART OF THE FALLOUT?
>> SURE.
AND WHEN A STUDENT IN STANFIELD, ARIZONA, 43 STUDENTS, THAT'S NOT CONDITIONS TO GET THOSE KIDS READY IN MATH, SCIENCE AND READING TO PERFORM WELL.
SO WE'VE GOT TO ULTIMATELY GET TO RETAINING GOOD TEACHERS AND GETTING THEM IN A CLASS SIZE TO LIFT EVERY STUDENT TO THEIR POTENTIAL.
>> Ted: BACK TO THE ACADEMY, HOW MANY STUDENTS HAVE GRADUATED AND MOVED ONTO THE CLASSROOM?
>> WE HAVE 32 TOTAL AND ANOTHER IN THE PIPELINE AND PRODUCING 1200 PER YEAR AT THE MOMENT.
I'LL TAKE 50 MORE SECONDS AND SAY IT, WE SHOULD GET TO SCALE AND SCALE MEANS 12,000.
THAT WOULD CATCH US UP AND GET TO THE PLACE WHERE WE CAN REPLACE THOSE TEACHERS LEAVING WITH NEW TEACHERS THAT ARE READY TO PERFORM.
THAT'S REQUIRES THE LEGISLATURE UP TO 40, $50 MILLION A YEAR.
>> Ted: YOU WON'T HAVE GOVERNOR DUECY AROUND TO HELP AND IS THIS A MINIMUM?
>> I CAN HOPE SO AND HOPE THE NEXT GOVERNOR IS EQUALLY MINIMAL MINIMAL.
