The CRC projects the Social Equity Excise Fee will bring in roughly $225,000 in 2022
Advocates are pushing for more resources to be invested in communities most impacted by the previous criminalization of marijuana. The Cannabis Regulatory Commission is hoping to achieve that by using the social equity excise fee the state puts on cannabis sold by the ounce, which up to now is based on medical sales. Starting next year, the fee will be based on sales of recreational marijuana.
