Micheal Sutton, how are ya?
- I'm well, how are you?
- Great man, it's good to see you, and you've brought along listen, some power.
Hello to you.
- How you doin?
- It is so good to have you.
- Thank you.
- Ms. Flores, right?
- Yes, sir.
- And that first name, Charmaine.
- Yes, sir.
- I remember it.
Good, it is so good to have you join us, and share your gifts, and your talents, with the wonderful people of Alabama Gospel Roots.
- We're so glad to be here.
- Great, and you look like you came to give your all?
- Yes, sir.
- Great.
So, Micheal now tell us about you, I'm going to have to do the interview back and forth.
But you're original from where sir?
- I'm originally from North Carolina, but I moved to Elizabeth City, - What part, what part?
- the big city.
- E.C.
- E.C.
- All right, alright.
- But my wife and I moved to Birmingham about eight years ago, and it's been home ever since.
- Great, now what church are you a member of?
- I go to Christian Life Church, where my Pastor is, Pastor Jeremy Sailor.
- He's a great man too, okay.
And what about you Miss Charmaine?
- Well, I'm a military brat, so I moved around a lot but.
- Some of the places you've moved around?
- Let's see, I was born in Washington state.
We moved to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba then to Mississippi, - Oh, wow.
- and then to South Carolina, and finally landed in Birmingham, Alabama.
- And you've been in Birmingham how long?
- Forever.
- Forever.
Get out of here.
Have you been singing all your life?
- Yes, yes sir.
- Who inspired you?
- My Dad pushed me on a stage when I was four.
- And you've been on there ever since?
- Yes, sir.
- Great, thanks to Dad, all right.
- Amen.
- So, your parents live in Birmingham?
- My Mom does, and my Dad lives in South Carolina.
- Okay, great, great.
Mike what about you?
Who inspired you, man?
- Well, you know, my Dad.
He was in a singing group called, The Suttonairs.
- The Suttonairs.
- And from the moment I could walk I was on stage, kind of like Charmaine so.
- Got it, got it.
So now, who are some of your favorite groups, Mike?
- Oh man, I grew up on, quartet gospel singing.
- Quartet?
- Quartet, all day long.
So, The Cat Spirituals, Slim and the Supreme Angels, Robert Blair, Mighty Clouds of Joy.
So, quartet that's in my heart.
- Wait, hold on, I'm disappointed.
Tommy Ellison and the Five Singing Stars, man.
- God, you can't forget Tommy.
- How you gonna?
You've been sailing and all of that and you.
Man, Tommy is moving, he flipping man it's great.
All right, great.
What about you?
Who are some of your favorites?
- Oh my goodness.
- Tommy Ellison and the Five Singing Stars?
- I'm not allowed to say that.
But yeah, like he was saying, Mighty Clouds of Joy, but also people like BeBe and CeCe.
- Ah, see?
- The Winans, all the Winans, my favorite were, Commissioned.
- Commissioned?
God, you in there, I feel you, I feel you.
Now you got two other people with you.
- Yes, sir.
- Would you introduce them right quick so we can get some more great music?
- This is the phenomenal, Jordan Stone.

I hope everybody is getting ready for a great celebration tomorrow.
We tried our best to start you off in the right gear with great gospel singing this whole entire hour.
We've given you a variety of gospel music and gospel singers, as we always do with people from across the state of Alabama, as well as outside of the state of Alabama.
Like this awesome group here, The Appointed Angels from Newton, Mississippi.
And I tell you what, you made Mississippi proud.
You made Mississippi proud.
Wanna wish you the best.
And I know this guy right here got him a good Easter suit.
I already know it.
I already know it.
I already, you got your one too.
I already know it.
You got your one?
- Yes, sir.
- Oh, everybody today alright.
Well, listen, we thank you for coming and we thank each of you and we wish you a blessed resurrection Sunday.
We always close by saying this, if y'all can get your mics up, you can see it with me.
And that is, We are all sisters and brothers.
Can you say that?
- [All] We're all sisters and brothers.
- There's only one color.
- [All] There's only one color.
- And that's the color of love.
- [All] And that's the color of love.
- All right.
You believe that?
- Yes, sir.
- All right.
I know it, I know it, I know it.
Well, listen, the lights are flickering so we don't have to go home.
But guess what?
- We got to get outta here.
- Boy, you been to a club or two ain't ya?
All righty.
Well, we going home, everybody.
But listen, we wanna wish you well.
And we say to all of you, be well, be kind.
I'm telling you.
Smile, smile, smile, smile.
And somebody's going smile back at you.
We appreciate you to my cousin down in Mobile, Virginia and Brenda.
And listen, we just love you, okay?
All of my folks all over Alabama, we love you.
Hey, come on.
I'm gonna get outta the way so y'all can sing.
All right.
