- Lynn recently announced that it's funding a pilot program, an unarmed crisis response team, with a half million dollars to deal with mental health crises.

Unfortunately, the police often respond to these incidents when there's a mental health episode and no one is really in harm's way and the police are ill-equipped to handle those encounters.

But having a specialized unit of behavioral and mental health experts who aren't armed and know how to deescalate these mental health crises is really the way to go.

And Lynn should be applauded for putting money where its mouth is and voting to fund this pilot program.
