Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- Well, I think the most notable thing, before we actually turned to the cases, relates to the court's composition.
Because of an odd confluence of retirements and the tragic untimely death of Chief Justice Ralph Gants in 2020, Charlie Baker had an unprecedented chance, or really a virtually unprecedented chance, to give the court a complete makeover.
He has appointed all seven of the sitting Justices and that's had a number of consequences.
So for one thing, he has helped create or craft the most diverse SJC we've seen in it's 300 plus years in existence.
Three of the seven Justices are people of color, including the Chief Justice, black woman named Kimberly Budd.
In addition, it's a young court.
Justices Budd, George, and Argaez Wendlandt are all in their early to mid-50s.
And the oldest Justices I believe are 62, which means, and this is what's the real takeaway, this entire court turned over in less than five years, but it's gonna be intact for almost another decade, up until 2029, barring some unforeseen circumstance because the mandatory retirement age on the SJC is 70.
So I think that's the most notable thing, the court's composition.
