I'm Annette Andersen and I'm making Danish aebelskiver today.
♪♪ Annette: It's a little round ball with pancake flour.
It kind of has to cook in a little grease.
♪♪ Annette: The trick is to getting the oil the right temp so they don't burn.
♪♪ Annette: And then I keep turning them until I get a nice ball.
The trick is to get all the dough to cook through.
♪♪ Annette: I have grandkids and great-grandkids and they come home and they ask me if I will make aebelskiver for them and they love them.
♪♪ Annette: You take the bowl, it has a little sugar in there and put a spoonful on your plate.
You can take a little jelly too.
Take and dip it in the sugar and take a good bite.
♪♪ Annette: You can put jelly in it also and a lot of people like it that way.
♪♪ Annette: I was born in Kimballton, the little town next to Elk Horn.
My parents were born in Denmark and they immigrated in the early 1900s to this area so we have always been in this area.
Annette: Back in Denmark it has always been as a meal mostly in the evening.
At home when I grew up, my mother liked to fix it for Sunday evening.
♪♪ Annette: The jelly is good.
