The former St. Louis Symphony violinist (one of a handful of African-Americans members in the SLSO’s history) has been undergoing a long recovery from surgery that’s kept him off the stage. One of his favorite performance pieces is a Beethoven sonata that was dedicated to a close friend of the composer (an Afro-European virtuoso).
